    Paletas???? At a Goodwill??? Score!
    Courtney B.

This Goodwill has the 'goods'! I came to this location to purchase a pair of shorts for Thing Two but ended up finding some shorts for myself. For those who haven't been to this GoodWill, it is adjacent to Historic Market Square. So, before buying some of the handcrafts at Market Square, try Goodwill first. For those not walking over from the Historic Market Square, guests can park in the GoodWill parking lot for free for a maximum of 2 hours if shopping in the store. This store is small but highly organized. Thing Two was able to locate 'on trend' shorts for me right away in my size. This means this store is so organized a 'caveman'.....er... um, a youngster could easily find things here. Thing Two quickly selected various shorts for me to try on that were name brand to include American Eagle and Lucky Brand. I was able to try on a total of 4 pairs of shorts. There is a 5 garment try-on limit instituted at this location per one dressing room instance. I selected two shorts for purchase and was able to check out quickly with a friendly cashier. While checking out, Thing Two also found paletas for sale! Wow! Who doesn't love a good paleta on a hot TX day? Goodwill is to improve the quality of life for people who have barriers to employment by providing skills training and work opportunities, so if in the area, this GoodWill is worth a visit.

Between the giant Crain's is the goodwill in San Antonio Texas. This area is experiencing a revitalization.

This store is tidy and well organized. The staff is friendly and helpful. There's more than one fitting room. They are clean, spacious, and have a bench in them. I found a $100.00 Irish wool sweater for $6.00 and 2 cute blouses. This location is right around the corner from Historic Old Market. I recommend.

This place is not a tourist site, but it does garner getting some attention. It's really huge inside. Half the store is clothing, which I did not peruse. I saw several people buying clothes though. This was a pitstop on the way to Fiesta Market Square. Our hotel is a straight shot from here. While I didn't walk away with the bargain of a lifetime, I did buy a book for the plane ride home ($1) and a kitchen timer for my classroom ($0.49). Yeah, I am a big spender. I do wish I would of bought the bowl pictured below. Since I planned to check my bag for the ride home I decided against it. I really did have room though... Oh well. My mom saw two things she would have bought if she too wasn't flying. I am sure she didn't really need them. That's the thing about thrift stores: one man's junk is another man's treasure. I'm sure you can find a treasure here.

We've visited this location numerous times and it's always clean and well organized, and the staff is always friendly and helpful. Found some great bargains on some men's shirts and ladies shirts, one shirt was made in Hawaii and those are pricy...got it for about 5 dollars. Love the giant mural on the side of the building.

I love being in walking distance from this place. I have found great glassware, kitchen ware, toys, & clothes. I have seen some great pieces which vary in style. Mid century, vintage style & country additions are found here, at great prices. A juicer for $4, glass tea container $2, & a desk lamp $3, have been some of my favorite finds. The register wait has never been more than a minute & the workers are friendly. This location also has a small cafe connected to it; Good Bytes.

I realize thrift stores rely on donations, but several items we picked up were marked boutique but appeared more than lightly worn. Many of the clothing items were heavily worn and not in good repair. A necklace behind the counter was missing more than a few gems. The store is organized by categories but the lighting is awful, and makes it seem dirty even if it isn't, and there are dead ends/blocked aisles that require you to turn around and go the other way. Staff seemed friendly enough. I interacted 3 times with a young male teen and he seemed pretty low key minimal interaction but by the 3rd chat we hit it off to to speak. He's probably just slow to warm up. I did try on a few clothing items that I purchased. My friend also found something. But I don't think we will add this to our list of shops to frequent.

What I love most is the daily deals. The employees are always super helpful. They also have an area referenced as their "Boutique" items which are higher end items that are a little more pricey but again very good finds at a fraction of the retail price and in very good condition.

One hundred percent of the proceeds of items sold at this shop funds the Helotes Humane Society located right next door. The old house is the thrift shop. All the items sold at the thrift shop are well organized and labeled nicely. There are so many good finds! Lots of antiques and vintage items too. The ladies that work at the shop are very kind, friendly, and helpful. I bought a vintage knit nativity scene that I absolutely love, Christmas lights, coasters, and a tree skirt. They offer military discount on Thursday and senior discount on Friday. I had a blast at this shop and will be back. Besides the Helotes Humane society next door, there's also a small dog park behind it.

Ever since COVID, it seems like it has tried to become a Texas thrift trying to promote clothes, but did not do it successfully. Their prices and value are also not quite up to par. Compared to similar thrift stores in the area. My biggest issue today? Customer service was absolutely unacceptable. I feel like they were uncomfortable because of all the pictures I was taking? The two ladies in front kept staring and whispering to each other and looking back at me. I decided to give them the benefits of the doubt- they must have better things to talk about? I had nothing with me but my mobile, so why were they following me around? I looked through the clothes for about twenty minutes, then went over to the shoes, then back to the clothes. Then I went over to request getting into the fitting rooms, which were locked. One lady from the front came over as I stood there. "Something wrong?" Was the first thing she said to me. Taken aback, I replied, no, I was trying to get into a fitting room, please? I showed her my three garments. "Were you putting clothes back?" "What?" "My associates said you were putting clothes back." I looked at her blankly. "They said you took some and were putting them back in the shoes section." "I apologize, ma'am, I do not know what you are talking about," I answered in the most polite voice, even though I was getting increasingly frustrated. "They saw you. Take clothes and put them by the shoes." At this point, I was ready to leave. If this was how they were treating customers, I was not about to beg to be let into the fitting room, let alone give them my business. "I do not know what you are talking about, How about we go to the shoes and you can show me? I did not put anything there, only the clothes I have in my hands." "No. They took them away", she replies. Silence. "I am going to have you ask you to leave," she says. I don't even care anymore. Frankly, I am not sure whether I am more puzzled by how this confusion has taken place or more shocked that they have the audacity to treat a customer like this with no grounds. She did not even try to communicate with me with kindness. She was accusatory, told me to leave, and that was that. I left. Never plan to return. Good riddance. Highly not recommended. Zero stars!
