I love the people here and I love selling here .... of course soo much to buy! Love the options that I find here

So I originally found Uptown Cheapskate through Instagram because I was looking for a store where I could sell some of my clothes. I had so much with tags or stuff I've only wore once, and wanted to see what I would get for them instead of just donating it to Goodwill or a similar nonprofit. Before selling you need to sign up through their system and create an account which is super easy. I came on a weekday so they weren't too busy and after 30min they gave me my offer. They seemed to be a more trendy type of shop and a lot of my clothes was a little more formal for their style so they didn't buy a lot from what I brought (I think they are more tailored to GenZ just FYI). I did browse through their store a little bit but frankly their clothes was not my style and they did not have a lot of XS or small petite clothing. One thing do worth noting is that they have a huge selection for guys, and saw some pretty cool vintage stuff for men. read more

Curated selections! I've never left empty handed. There's great specials/events on a monthly basis and this place is never empty. The community definitely loves it. Everything from shoes, perfumes, and purses. Lots to see and lots to love. Dressing rooms are clean and the staff is friendly and always in a good mood. This place feels like your shopping retail but at a second hand price! Win win! read more

This store is the first time in my life that I have been able to find something in my size that also fits well at a thrift store. Where I come from, they don't have many options for those bigger than a basic S/M/L. I highly recommend checking this store out. They often have sales on top fo the already reasonable prices. read more

The service was great! The girls at the counter were very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. I went into sell some of my clothes, and was expecting a higher percentage of their value, but understand the business model now. The item sale prices for the brands were decent, and I got 25% more for the items I was selling by taking store credit rather than cash. I ended up coming home with four beautiful dresses that my husband actually loves, so that's a win! read more

A bit crowded with inventory and it's busy. Came to sell a few clothing. Didn't get much back (not surprised). Really dislike shops like this cause buyers are so picky even if items are "in style, in trend". I started coming here because of a friend's recommendation. I came to this location 3x and each time, the customer service was just either mediocre or poor. They all seem either more interested in their personal lives or just walking around to collect a paycheck. The selection of clothes is great, so I will give them that but it doesn't make it worth the trip when the customer service isn't it. Really and truly, I might just go to the other location from now on. Hopefully it's a bit better there. This location just doesn't feel very welcoming. read more

I never have expectations when it comes to selling so excluding that in my review. IMO the store is overstocked so the shelves are jammed making it really hard to find stuff. And a lot of the clothes seem outdated and the brands and styles are overall meh. Could be me as an inexperienced thrifter not knowing how to find the hidden gems. read more

Great service, lots of great finds! Very clean store! Always the best styles and they make it easy for dropping off clothes.

I never write negative reviews, but this place is just not it anymore. The staff is not every welcoming nor friendly. Don't except much from the girls buying your clothes either. And if you DON'T decide to wait 2+ hours in the store and drop off your clothes it will be automatically processed meaning you can't see what they take or decline the offer. After running errands we came back to the store to get my cash offer and then had to still wait for my boyfriend's clothes to be finished. When we had walked in we saw they were working on his order (his clothes on the table), but still told us another 45 min wait. They also have a "two bag limit" so it shouldn't take so long. I just feel like they have no "sense of urgency". The pricing is soo off when you sell depending on the buyer. You can tell some of the girls don't know certain brands, quality, or are just lazy and don't want to look. I sold some Aldo Leather boot that I have worn 2 times due to they were to small for me. While waiting for my boyfriends order we saw the boots they brought, and they only priced it at $11.99. That is not even the "65-70" % off the current retail value. I don't even think they took the time to look at the brand Bc they label it "As is". I was expecting them to be priced at least $15.99 - $20. And since they only pay out 25%- 35% I got paid about $3 for some nice boots that I paid $89 . So don't expect to be paid more than $5. For reference I took some photos of other boots they had that were not even cute or good quality and they were priced way higher between $13.99- $29.99. Some of the boots were still priced higher but had wear/creases and stains/markings! (Tan boots) Also, if you ask for a Donor Tax Receipt it ask for the buyer's signature. So when I came back to pick up my offer the girl with black hair in the polka dot dress had no problem signing it. She was actually the only sweet girl working there that did not have an attitude and actually listened. And then once my boyfriend's buy was done he asked for the same slip and the girl with blonde hair and tattoos gave it to us and we asked if she could sign it... she was soooo quick to say "Uhhhh NO we don't sign any of the form." And then turned around. Lol. Then I said the other girl signed it for me. And she was all like " Welllll whoo ?". Then the girl who signed the slip was behind her and told her that she did sign it because at the bottom of the slip it clearly says, " Received By: ". The blonde girl just did not seem nice at all and when she was corrected by her coworker she just said, " Well no one told me that, that's new ". No apology to us for coming off so rude. Selling experience was not that great. I would recommend to sell if you truly don't mind getting $1-3 for your items. And if you decide to drop off make sure you are okay with their new policy. Also since you have a policy of "first come first serve" I would recommend to have more than just two chair to wait in the store.... Especially since the wait times are so high (usually 45-3hrs). read more

Great selection. Busy on a Friday afternoon...waiting line for fitting rooms. Needed a refresh on my work wardrobe and found some good essentials plus a couple of pieces with pizazz. Returned this week to make a return. Less busy. Thought the fitting rooms could use some love. I needed a bench in there, but hey, I may not be their typical demographic. Didn't get points for my Friday purchases. Bummed b/c it was a lot, but they were busy, so if you plan to utilize this, ask your checker to set you up properly and give you credit! read more

I have been going to uptown ever since I found out about them. I have recently started selling to them these past few months and went in today to sell my little pink gucci bucketbag. I didn't get her name who helped me this morning but she was very sweet and absolutely amazing. She was very helpful and very informational with my selling today as I had never sold in store a higher end designer purse. They truly gave me a fair price for my bag since they are the middle man and they are the ones taking the risk when purchasing. I didn't want to sell on ebay as they take a percentage and so does PayPal. I didn't want to have to deal with shipping either. I love the store as they always greet the customers as they walk in and never had a bad experience. I would definitely do more selling with uptown and highly recommend checking them out cause you never know what you will find!!! read more

Please note: I have never sold items here, I'm strictly reviewing as a repeat customer. I really like this place. Oftentimes when I come here, it's crowded and the staff is busy. Despite this, the store is really clean, the clothes are well organized, and I get multiple offers of help. Like any thrift shop you never know what hidden treasures are waiting for you. You have to do a bit of hunting among the racks to find what you need. The clothes are of high quality and cleanliness. I have yet to find a flaw in any of the pieces I've looked at. I find the pricing here to be incredibly reasonable. I usually get men's clothes when I go because they also have a substantial section of men's clothing where other resale shops are often lacking. Husband enjoys browsing these racks with me. read more

The best thrift store in San Antonio! They have the best selection of items! Love this place!

Don't waste your time coming here. I went today with a bag full of main brand shirt from stores like urban outfitters, Zumiez, banana republic and Tommy Hilfiger along with a pair of Nike air max's and a $300 Micheal Kors watch for everything in good condition. They only took 3 shirts,the shoes and the watch and offered $38 for everything lol. In addition to this it took them 2 hours to check the one bag of items I took. It was a waste of time and everything they buy from you they sell it 10X THE PRICE. You're better off listing it on Facebook or OfferUp or even donating it to someone that actually needs it. But if y'all decide to keep selling y'all clothes to this place then I might need to open up my own place. My reply: you're a thrift store lol that's what you buy used and old clothes. The fact that a stain that I don't see but (let's just say it's there) bothers y'all shows that your store doesn't wash any of the used clothes y'all buy . Y'all are just looking for hand outs with brand new clothes which is why your place is a scam just like other main brand thrift stores. You still didn't explain the crazy prices you slap on items you buy from people for $3. Don't worry if I do choose to open up my own store I would be more reasonable with expectations and pricing read more

Just like other places for cash resale, you have to make sure your items are fit for their store and match their needs- but that's why I always call the store before heading in to see what they are most in need of and the staff is always helpful. You can also see their Instagram posts for what they are in need of, too. It's great quick cash and you can shop around while you wait for their offer.
