Overall this good will is just not that great. I stop in frequently to get books and I have found some occasionally but the last three times I went I couldn't find anything. The prices seem to be pretty high for a good will as well. It's cluttered but also doesn't feel like there is any inventory. I used to go to this branch regularly back when it opened. It was the largest Goodwill store around and I like buying stuff at a fair used price knowing I was helping people with disabilities who they employed or provided group homes for. Then we moved south for several years, and now we are back in Maine.Apparently the store has run into tougher times lately. There seems to be a fair selection of merchandise under housewares and women's and children's clothing, but if you need clothing for men, don't bother. No shirts to speak of, no shorts, and for pants all they had were two racks of dress pants. Well, I am retired now and dress pants are behind me, especially for $6 each. They were not accepting donations when I was there, so I guess that explains the lack of men's clothing. Perhaps the pandemic has crippled their staff numbers after years of getting all the help they needed. We found a few items in the houseware section, but I am not sure it will be worth a trip back anytime soon. read more

So what do you think of when you think of a goodwill store? I normally think of very reasonable or even cheap prices where you can find lots of neat little things. Not so with this goodwill. The people at the store are crazy. How about 15 dollars for a shirt you can buy new at TJ Maxx for the same price. How about 10 dollars for a pair of worn out pants that most people would use for a rag. Or 15 dollars for a sweater you could again buy for new for close to the same price at TJ Maxx. Advice to this store: have you started to wonder why your parking lot used to be full and now it's empty? You might want to get back to remembering that all of your inventory is given to you for free. Price it reasonable and people will come back. For now, I won't. read more

This is a large and relatively clean Goodwill, that had almost nothing in it worth getting which is an accomplishment. The few things that were worth getting were in a 'Boutique' area and were priced at more than what a vintage store or market could make during their show. So in short, some possible opportunities for to get some home decorum items but if you shop Goodwill for your business (either flea market or what not) you will be sorely disappointed. read more

What a lovely HUGE Goodwill! The service was wonderful and they have so many clothes, furniture, sweaters, sweat pants, shoes, bags, even Halloween costumes right now! Despite the pandemic - you can't beat these prices! You always gotta shop by color because it's 50%! We were able to get sweatpants and sweatshirts that we desperately need for winter for $3 each! We love Goodwill and being able to save! You can't go wrong at any goodwill- but this store is huge!! read more

I feel the same way about this Goodwill that I do about Walmart... it's enormous, it's cluttered, it seems like everything has a layer of grime on it, it's hit or miss, the employees always seem discontent and unavailable when you need them, and it's ALWAAAAAAAAAAYS insanely busy. Of the hundreds of times I've been here, I've only ever made three purchases: a) three pairs of knee-high socks b) an old school wooden labyrinth which I specifically went here to find c) a Russian-style winter hat for cosplay But usually I leave here empty handed, because: a) I can never find anything that fits me (I'm guessing this is because I'm pretty average sized and since this is a high-traffic store, other people are snatching the good stuff before I can find it) b) When I do find something interesting, I usually bypass touching it because my inner germaphobe comes tumbling out. c) I can't actually get to the shelves or aisles because herds of small children are running through like wild buffalo. d) The wait at the cash register crawls upwards to twenty or thirty minutes because they only have one or two people cashing customers out. I think this Goodwill definitely has hidden treasures, you just need to be super patient, unafraid of touching questionable things, and the willingness to really look. read more

Sad that the other reviews are such haters. You have to go into goodwill with an open mind. You either strike gold or at least find pewter. I have found some great mirrors, fabric, even a vintage dress that was never worn. You just gotta dig! Which is true of thrifting anywhere! read more

The staff here is miserable. They leave giant bins of new items in the middle of the aisles while they chit chat about coworkers behind each others backs. And if you dare look at the bin, you will get yelled at. "We're trying to put those away!" Not from the footage I'm seeing. Also, the point is to sell it. So either get it out quickly or get your sh*t together. read more

I use to love this Goodwill. Don't even bother looking for jeans. They are so disorganized. Even if the racks say the sizes, don't be surprised if you find all the sizes mixed in together. The racks are so jammed, it's hard to look at the clothes. The store is dirty and disorganized. My recommendation would be to go to the Windham store. It is very organized and everything is easy to find. read more

Guys this place is awesome! Every time I'm in Maine I stop in and find something. New York City thrift stores don't have a wide selection for plus size, but here in Maine apparently there are a lot of hefty fashionable women. Also there's a lot more competition in NYC thrift stores for the trends and classics, but here it seems everyone in geared more toward function rather than trends, which is great for them and me. I find real vintage (20+ years), and classic fashions that never go out of style. It's like Mainers don't care or don't know what a big deal some of the things they donate are. I got 2 LL bean modern style pants with the tags still on!! I got a 1973 designer coat for $15, and back in the city I got snapped for a street fashion blog. Please Maine send me more of your fashion trash and I'll keep turning it into NYC street fashion gold. I love Maine!! read more

Cumberland county has the highest covid cases in the state. Many businesses offer masks at the front for the people that have somehow not caught on that those are supposed to be mandatory. If there is a sign that says they are required, that needs to be enforced better. I can say this is one of the easiest Goodwills to drop off items that you no longer want or need. There is a convenient drive thru area, and an employee usually comes right out with a buggy to load your donations into. The store itself is very spacious with a large selection of books, clothes, and many other new and used items. You never really know what you might find there. read more

Where once there was a Circuit City, now a Goodwill stands....cuz there weren't already enough of them..... As this chain goes, this may be the largest retail location. They have a good layout of racks and a wide range of size options in each category. This location has a restroom which is great because if your family loves this place much more than you do (like in my family), you'll want that there for the hours they may spend keeping you waiting while they hunt. read more

An employee made the announcement that the store would be closing in 15 minutes and that all shoppers needed to head to the front of the store. So I proceeded to do so. When I got to the front of the store there was only one person at the register and they were already helping someone. It took them about 10 minutes to help the person in front of me right so by the time I get up to the register theres about 5 minutes until close. I tried to pay with apple pay but their machine was having some kind of problem (Ive never had a problem using my apple pay) so the sweet girl that was helping me called another (red haired) employee over to help with the machine after struggling with the machine to try to get Apple Pay to work for over 10 minutes she very rudely tells me that I can't pay on two separate cards.... I only had 58$ on my Apple Pay and my purchases was over $100. Im tight on funds as I'm sure most college students are so this would have been nice information to know beforehand. She then proceeds to tell me that the store closed 15 minutes ago and that I need to figure it out. The whole interaction was not helpful and very unprofessional. Needless to say I will NOT be coming back. read more

Love that the store is so big with more selection. But the none of the staff are friendly at all. I lost my phone today and asked a staff if anyone might have brought a phone to the counter she rudely yelled at me saying no, then pointing to another staff so I asked the other staff and she yelled at me to. This is the largest Goodwill I have been too. It's huge! Yet fairly well organized. I never go into a Goodwill with a purchase in mind, I'm always like "Let's see what cool stuff I can find!" Most of the time I leave with some pretty cool things. This location has really upped its game recently. They now have a "Goodtech" section at the front of the store. If you're a retro gamer like me, definitely check this out (or don't, because that means less for me!). Honestly I hesitated writing this review because I don't want everyone taking all the good stuff! Ha. They had PS1's, PS2's, Nintendo's, Sega genesis, and accompanying games and cartridges at very good prices. Game controllers and accessories too. They also had newer systems like Wii and Xbox, some laptops too. They had some of the older generation IPods, but I don't think they are compatible with the new iTunes so they are pretty much worthless. Oh and the lines here can get pretty long. Almost every time I come here I get stuck behind someone with a language barrier who is arguing with the cashier about a price or trying to return an item. There's been times where I've gone to the check out area and said "Screw this" and left without purchasing the items I wanted. In conclusion: Stay away from the GoodTech section because it's all mine! However, if you'd like to donate goods they have a convenient drive thru drop off area that makes it pretty easy. read more

This is an excellent thrift shop located conveniently by the Maine mall. They have anything and everything but like the song says you gotta be digging!!! Prices are amazing too. Their drop off is also very conveniently located. read more

This store is a disaster. It seems the higher the prices go the worse it is to shop. I am mainly talking about the clothes for now. All of the sizes are mixed up as are men's and women's clothing. A little care in straightening out the sizes and the racks would go a long way to making an extremely unpleasant experience at least bearable. read more

Extremely rude staff- donate elsewhere to an organization that appreciates your donations. I dropped off a large quantity of very nice, desirable things and had the attendant yell- literally tell- at me about one thing they didn't want. 90% of the stuff is just plain junk. There are literally broken appliances for sale on their shelves, such as a cassette player of which the door will not close, and bed sheets for sale with blood stains on them. Once in a while, maybe every third visit, will I find something of value but wading through the oceans of refuse usually leaves me with a bad taste in my mouth whether I find something or not. Also, the seemingly increasing amount of factory-new proprietary goods made in India and China also makes me think Goodwill is trying to compete with Wal-Mart, which it sort of feels like in there. And does Portland really need so many of these? It seems like there are a half dozen stores within just a couple of miles of each other. read more

I think this Goodwill brings the chained store to a higher level it is super organized and clean. Some stuffs are new in original packaging. The price is a bit high compared to the one in Boston. Selection for men are limited compared to women. Will de finitely come again if I happen to be in the neghborhood. read more
