Goodwill Store & Donation Center located at 1900 Harlem Ave, North Riverside is a must if you want second hand things. In here, you can find different furniture and other equipment perfect for your home, it comes in various sizes and designs and you are free to choose everything you want. They also have different clothes for children and adult. If you have kids, they also have different types of books and also clothes that are perfect for them. Everything they sell in here are although second handed but all are in good condition, have good quality and have an amazing cheaper prizes than the mall. The store has a parking space. It is also clean and well organized that it is easy for you to find anything you like. Lastly, in here you can only shop inside the store and they have a good customer service which is really great. read more

Goodwill thrift stores always have the best organizations and cleanliness; however, they don't typically have the most amazing prices on clothing, shoes, and accessories. Although most clothing items are presented at almost mint conditions, primarily hubby and I are here for vinyl records, household gadgets, and electronic items. We were interested in some speakers for our newly-found turntable. For $3.99 or $4.99 per speaker, it was tempting for us to purchase one just to give it a try and see if it works. In the end, we decided to wait on them and continued our exploration onto other thrift store. Perhaps other thrift shops have better inventories. I'm not sure if Goodwill does any extra promotions on weekends or holidays like what Unique, Village Discount Outlets, and Salvation Army do when they try to liquidate the older inventories. There aren't as many Goodwill locations in the city of Chicago and in Chicagoland, so I don't see the need to use this store as our go-to thrift store. We don't live close to North Riverside at all. This location is very close to the North Riverside Park Mall. Parking is ample and convenient. read more

I wish I could give this Goodwill more stars but I was disappointed. I love going to second hand stores and charity shops. I garage-sale shop nearly every weekend in the summer and buy most of my family's clothes, books and toys second-hand. So I was excited to stop by a new-to-me Goodwill tonight. But it was so messy and smelled odd. The prices were higher than I expected. It made me uncomfortable to be in such a cluttered, messy and disorganized space. I did see workers on the floor trying to be helpful but I don't think they could keep up. Things were piled up everywhere. The toys were just heaped in bins up high, not on shelves. Smelled awfully smoky tonight too so I didn't stay more than 15 minutes. I usually will shop for an hour in a good Goodwill. See photos. read more

Solid finds on each visit. Mostly clothing and accessories. Less than half of the store has home items, no large furniture but plenty of high quality glassware, plates, and decor. You will always find excellent wood frames here for wall art or photos. Worth a visit. Restocked hourly it seems. read more

I donated a wedding dress with the idea that someone running low on cash could get it for a measly few bucks. I was truly disappointed to visit the store and find them selling the dress for $120. Not to mention they were selling a used shein 2 piece dress for $13 when it's literally sold new on shein for $9.00. I also found a pair of marshals pajamas being sold separately $7.99 for the bottom and 5.99 for the top; when the item was simultaneously being sold at marshals as a set for $12.99. Families should be able to afford nice clothing as an affordable price. This price gouging on donations is disgusting. read more

Dear Goodwill Corporate Team, I would like to report an incident that occurred at your 1201 W. Washington Boulevard location at approximately 1:30 PM today. My parents had purchased some faux flowers along with other items. As my parents were exiting, they were approached by your theft security employee: Crystal. (As an aside: we called the store and she provided the first name Crystal, but refused to provide a last name. Hopefully, this is her real name. If resources allow, I would appreciate if you could verify this information.) Immediately, Crystal approached my parents with a degrading and aggressive tone of voice. She accused my parents of stealing the flowers, when they, in fact had paid for them along with their other purchases. We asked that she check our receipt to rectify the situation and verify that we had indeed paid. Instead, she aggressively grabbed the receipt from my hand and screamed that the flowers were $1.99 a piece, rather than $1.99 for the bunch. The flowers at this Goodwill location do not have price tags. Henceforth, we were not aware of the price. We put our trust in the cashier to scan our purchases accordingly, since that is the job of the cashier after all. Additionally, my parents have purchased flowers at this location on many occasions--priced at $1.99 for the bunch. With the price precedent aside, how were my parents supposed to know that the flowers were $1.99 a piece when there are no price tags or signs on the wall indicating such pricing? The situation immediately began to escalate with Crystal screaming that my parents are shoplifters, and accusing them of intentionally misleading the cashier. During this exchange, I kindly requested that Crystal to speak to my sister and I due to the fact that English is not my parents' first language. She replied, "I don't care. Those people shoplifted at my store." She continued to point fingers at my parents, screaming that they were "shoplifters." This was incredibly disappointing to hear. My parents, immigrants whose first language is not English, were left in a vulnerable position of being unable to defend themselves. With Crystal screaming that they were a"shoplifters," they were humiliated in front of the entire store. With the rise of anti-Asian sentiments in the city, I cannot help but perceive this situation as a form of racial profiling. Her lack of care for my parent's inability to defend myself due to the language barrier; her utter disrespect for them, my sister, and I; her aggressive words pelting us without mercy. Her labeling of "those people" as "shoplifters." I am angered and disappointed by this situation. Up until this point, I have been a loyal customer of this store. After this incident, I will not be returning to this store. I ask that the Goodwill Corporate Team take the necessary steps to address this heinous incident. We would like to request that disciplinary action be taken against Crystal. Goodwill should not tolerate employees who harass their customers with racialized undertones. My parents are frequent shoppers at this location and are now hesitant to come back as they may be subjected to Crystal's discrimination once more. As a company that prides itself on not tolerating discrimination of any kind, I hope that Goodwill takes this seriously. read more

Took my daughter here instead of north Riverside mall today and found all these cool things for way less than anything she would've got at the mall. Every thing's brand new and the price came out to around $11 in total, my daughter's happy, I'm happy, and my wallet's happy. Everything i bought here was originally from Target, other than the target items the rest of the store was dingy, old, and used (of course). And when I got out of my car to unload I was directed back into the car because "we only serve one customer at a time." Generally, I am not a fan of the Goodwill chain. This review will not veer too far from that generalization. The problems that I have with Goodwill persist. The store is clean. That is great if you are not a seasoned thrifter like me. Some people need to have things organized and spotless. I am not one of those people. Personally, I have found the cleaner the store the higher the prices. I know how and where to clean my purchases, I want them to have thrift store prices!!! IF I wanted to shop at a department store, I would. Since I choose to shop at a thrift store I would appreciate the prices to reflect the fact that people have DONATED this merchandise. EACH and EVERY shirt I picked up (no matter the condition...no consideration given to stains, pilling, or use) was $4.99. Are you very serious??? 5 bucks for a horribly pilled sweater. Yet, EVERY shirt $4.99. $4.99. It is branded on my forehead now. Ridiculous. Absolutely, Ridiculous. Now, here comes the good news. In all of this mess I did walk out with a few good finds. Few and far between but good nonetheless. A pair of 'Brooks Brothers' loafers that look like Gucci and feel great. (worth 4.99) A 'Wolford' shirt with tiered layers that is very unique (worth 4.99). A black ruched velvet scarf (a donated item from Target) for 1.99 (again worth it). If you are looking for a great 'BARGAIN' or really like the thrill of the hunt at the thrift store (as I am) DO NOT attempt to find one or more here. The merchandise is atrociously overpriced for what they offer. It would be a different situation if all of their items were designer but they are not. Mostly from 'Old Navy' or 'Target'. If you want items from these store you might as well shop there. In fact these stores have better clearance prices that Goodwill and the stuff is guaranteed to be new. In total, I have shopped at GOodwill in the Chicago area about 5 times and each time I have been disappointed. I am not sure why I go back..today I was just in the area and stopped in. Don't go out of your way to shop here. Better luck would be had at the Salvation Army on Clybourn and Ashland. I stopped in here during a panicked rush yesterday morning at 9 a.m. on the dot to nab an ugly sweater for the ugly sweater run at 11 a.m. Procrastination, much? Anyway, they opened the doors right at 9 and had a special section for Christmas sweaters which made my trip so easy! The store looked clean, well-organized, and heavily stocked. I stopped in here just to see if there might be any fabulous accessories to complete my retro/ vintage outfit for the Yelp Spring Fling. This store is very clean and extremely organized. Lots of purses and dresses. Hardly any belts. A decent furniture selection. I found a killer pair of gold 1960s Ferragamo heels. I almost cried when I discovered that they were a size 7. I'm not embarrassed to say it: I'm discovering my thrifty side (to make up for all the money I spend on makeup), so I decided to venture out and try my hand at thrifting. I was worried I would run into someone I know and they would see me and judge me, and then I realized...hey - they'd be here for the same reason I am, so to hell with judgment! (cue dramatic arm swoop) So needless to say, I started slow, in the book section. I found one book that seemed interesting, in good condition, with all the original tags from Borders on it (R.I.P. Borders). I then dove in head first and hit the women's aisles. From the moment I set my eyes on a $2.99 skirt that I loved, I was sold. I began roaming the aisles with blinders on. Oh did someone spot me? I don't care! Look at these bargains I found! Add to these fantastic bargains that if you join their "club" you get 5% off every purchase of $20 or more - what?! I spent under $30 for 4 skirts, a shirt, a cardigan and a plastic storage bin. Incredible! And hats off to Goodwill for their awesome color coded racks. It honestly made shopping easier; I was able to hone in on the bright colors I was seeking for Spring/Summer. Clean store and exceptionally friendly staff. I will be back!! We've been to this Goodwill several times, but only outside to the donation drop-off on the side of the building. There's a handy gas station-type bell you drive over and, before you even have the car in park, someone from the store is coming out with a cart to unload your things. We've always found them to be fast and friendly, as well as appreciative of the donations, be it one small bag or an entire car full. We have another trunk full to take over this week and will have to go inside and have a browse. read more

This Goodwill is just okay. Maybe because it was the last store we went to after 3 others, but we really didn't find anything here. It's in a strip mall so it's easy to get to and easy to park. Decent amount of books, but not the best selection, lots of older books. Housewares selection is pretty good though, if you hunt you could probably find something good. Clothing is sorted like other Goodwills - by style and color. Clothing isn't in the best condition - Lots of sweaters were either stretched out, shrunken or incredibly pilly. Not too many "new" styled items, everything is either really dated, or very trashy. At least there are dressing rooms! read more

For board gamers, Goodwill can be a gold mine for board game gems. If you dig past the countless copies of Trivial Pursuit and Scene It DVD games, you can find some rare and unique games. Some even new and unopened. Almost every time I go to Goodwill I find something different to add to my board game collection. Large and clean, very well organized. I can't say I've found any great bargains here though, and their prices are a little high. I appreciate that they attempt to organize by size and that the items are clean. I also get the impression that a lot of the clothing is donated straight from department stores after end of season clearances because they will often have several of the same item. The help is friendly and I appreciate the cause. I was sad by the lack of winter coat options, but excited about the plethora of items in housewares. read more

I don't normally visit thrift stores, but compared to the Salvation Army store on Roosevelt near East, this place is godly. It's bright. Clothing is well-organized. There are different sections for small housewares and some electronics and sporting goods. The quality on some of the electronics and sporting gear can be hit or miss, but if you're shopping in a resale shop, you shouldn't be expecting top-notch anyway. There were a few things I was really impressed with when visiting this location: 1) I like the donation center. I pulled up, gave the guy my stuff, he gave me a receipt and I was done. I like that there was someone out there attending to the customers quickly. I've been to other stores and it is like pulling teeth to get someone to come out. 2) Overall, a good selection of some quality merchandise. I have a thing for suit jackets and I found about 5 that I liked. SInce I'm aware of my slight obsession, I thought it all over carefully and kept what I really, really liked. So I scored a hot pink suit jacket for $6.99 and a cute coffee mug for $.50 and I was stoked! Have worn the jacket already and got tons of compliments at work. There were a few more things I was eyeing (Halloween tombstone for $9.99....interesting) but I stayed strong and only bought the two things. I was impressed with this store. It is fun to find nice things for a very good price. Suit jacket would have easily been $20-30 retail. read more

eBaywill - they now check eBay "Buy it Now" listings to price most items - typically the items they are selling are untested and the prices are higher than they are worth, some of the newer items are cheaper at the original retail stores. I once questioned an employee about the price of something and she said it was much lower than the eBay prices - I checked eBay just to prove her wrong and their price was much higher than any sold listings. Also, watch out for the "vultures" - the people that spend all day here (literally all day at Goodwill) and wait for the carts of new donations to be rolled out - they will knock you over trying to get the fresh stuff - they will grab anything and everything off the cart and put it into their own shopping cart then sort thru it after and toss back most of it because they realize its all junk. Nothing but flea market resellers shopping here, with their iPads and smartphones out, looking up everything on eBay, not much left over for the rest of us. They will also sell knockoffs and counterfeit clothes for crazy prices. read more

I'm giving this place a 3 because we found a lot of good things here but man is the staff rude! Or at least one in particular. I don't know her name but she was very very rude. We asked her the price of an item and she ignored us at first. When we asked again she kinda left with the item and threw back an 'I'll see' or something like that but it was like an after thought and wasn't said to our face or loudly. She eventually came back with the new price but my mother didn't see it so when she asked (nicely!) about the new price the lady told her a way higher price. She was probably being sarcastic but it was said very impolitely and with a huge attitude. She seemed fine with other people that asked for her help but for some reason us asking her two/three questions made her give us attitude. And a lot of it! Multiple bad experiences in this store. It's very poorly run, untrained staff with attitudes. Wait times up to half-an-hour to check-out, no apologies just attitudes from cashiers and managers who clearly feel their inconvenience comes first, not the paying customer. This location removes their sale items on Saturday morning, that's one full day before their weeklong sale ends; they have their employees go through the sales racks and put the items with that weeks' sales tag color in carts and move the carts to the back. When questioned about it management answered that customers have all week to buy sale items, regardless of Saturday being the busiest day of the week. Customers have no recourse because the customer service number only goes to a general voicemail, that could be the reason why their staff from the top down have such an attitude. They also don't follow protocol in this store by thanking customers for supporting the goodwill mission. Most disturbing about this location is the staff allowed to work here, for years the floor staff consistently included a large portion of special needs individuals -- the most underrepresented group in the workplace -- they have all been pushed out ... they are all gone. Now instead of employees with special needs they have a staff full of attitudes. read more

This place is so hit or miss. They do have a big housewears section, but a lot of items are rather dirty. Tons of picture frames though, that are in decent condition. Also they have a pretty good jean and skirt selection. Everything else is a mix of overpriced old navy, forever 21, charlotte russe, and gap items. Shoe section is pretty awful too. Goodwill tends to overprice items because they tend to price similar things the same price instead of for the quality of the item. read more

Going off a hunch, I usually find exactly what I need at an amazingly low price. The bonus is, it helps those in need when you donate.

Not that good. I normally go to Village Discount Outlet. This is much cleaner but things are much more expensive than at the Village. Also whereas the Village has lots of crappy stuff with a few really good finds at very good prices, Goodwill has all mediocre things at not that good prices and I usually leave empty-handed. Basically I get a much more thrill of the hunt in the Village. Oh also employees here are much friendlier but that is not important to me in a thrift store. Also there are fitting rooms which most thrift stores do not have. read more

never knew working at a goodwill could be so stressful, I don't know how other goodwills run their store but I hope it's better than this one. Everything is so disorganized, ever since the pandemic started there has been nothing but so many changes and it puts on a lot of stress constantly changing things in the back. Now I appreciate the people I work with I get along with everyone. Most of the time The stress is with the customers especially now that covid happened we had to change a lot of things. The customers put a lot of pressure on us when we bring things out knowing hey cannot touch things from the carts we push out they continue to do it cause they don't give a fuck and funny our managers think its us that start the problems but it's not but hey the customers are always right, right? fuck the employee who feels uncomfortable when a customers get too close or gets too upset they start going off for no reason. Sorry but I use to enjoy working for goodwill but its a stressful environment I never want to work retail again read more
