I go to a lot of thrift stores and the Palatine is probably one of the nicest stores around. Lately other stores I've been in have just been filthy and dirty. Lousy parents that think these stores are their kids playgrounds make me sick. They let the kids just destroy the toy sections and refuse to pick up after them. Fortunately, I haven't seen that at this store. Not saying it doesn't happen here but I just haven't seen it yet. Always a nice selection of items. We have found some gems. You just have to be at the right place at the right time. You never know what you are going to find day by day. If you never went to one of these places give it a try. Final Review: 3/5 This location is definitely not as organized as others. Mens clothing underneath the sign that says children's, etc. Seems like prices may be slightly more but not too sure on that. There are good finds for sure. The stand out for sure was the lady who checked us out. She was very sweet and friendly. Definitely will return based on that. read more

This was a very large Goodwill location that me and my wife recently checked out. This place had a lot of great unique items that were at pretty fair prices. I was able to find some fan blade replacements for my kitchen. My wife was able to find some new winter clothes and apparel. Dressing rooms were plentiful and there wasn't many people using them thankfully even though the parking lot was packed. Located in a busy strip mall, expect to fight through traffic and the construction is happening nearby. Check out lines to take a while to get through check out lines to take a while to get through. DO NOT GO HERE!!!! They up charge like crazy. I went in today and bought two toys for my niece. A hot wheels and a little toy cart which both were 99 cents I got charged and the cashier was about to give me my change until the manager (middle aged white lady with blonde hair) snatched the toy cart when I was about to grab it and my change and said no you can't buy this (which I already bought) and said "we brought this out this morning for 1.99" and rips off the 99 cent tag. Mind you I already bought the car she told me you either pay the dolar or get a refund. I will not pay the extra dolar because honestly a little toy that they got donated for free isn't worth that much so I said the refund. I'm still mad they tried to hustle me once I already bought it. But please if you go here be careful and don't pay the unreasonable prices they try to hustle on people. read more

This Goodwill is always clean compared to all the other ones . Cashiers are respectful to everyone They play the part in helping their customers in any situation. This store seemed like it has improved and is probably almost as good as the one in Arlington Heights, meaning there isn't that much, but you may find something here. It's probably worth a look. I found a Banana Republic sweater coat (100 percent Merino wool) for $9.99. It was an amazing deal! It's not like there there were tons of deals like that around though, but that's a typical thrift store. They probably priced it without checking the fabric. The art selection was also somewhat improved, although there was nothing I needed today. Overall, I think this store is on the upswing. It looked like it had a lot more merchandise than when it first opened. Like most Goodwill Stores, there is limited furniture and housewares. I love shopping at this location. It's always neat and clean. I love the display when you first walk in the door. They always fill it with new items. I'm there several times a week and always have a great experience. The people working are always stocking and working very quickly, so you can literally go back around the store and find a few more things that you hadn't intended to find. Love it! I quite often have the same cashiers who are always cheerful and friendly. Everyone seems to love shopping at this location. It's usually pretty busy. I highly recommend this location. My mother and son where deny entry because my son did not have a mask. My son is autistic has sensory progressing issues. They did not take in consideration his needs. I been to walmart, target, ross and many restaurants and never been deny entry over my son. I am upset that when I called I was not give an apology. Instead offer to read me an attorney letter, yet under the IDHS states children with sensory issues are exempt to wear a mask. I understand stores can deny entry but his a 3 year who's non verbal and in a stroller who will he harm? Yet their employees did not have her mask covering her noise, so isn't she a bigger risks then my 3 year old. Everyone was really unprofessional and will never shop here again. I've always loved this goodwill for their amazing selection and unbeatable prices. About two weeks ago they had a internal issue with their cash registers, there was a nation wide malfunction with accepting credit cards. It was a Sunday and slightly busy and I looked down the line at the other customers who were irrationally upset about something that obviously wasn't the employees faults. I mean it's goodwill not the pharmacy, is anything you're getting here dire? My cashier, John, was such a great guy. He was so apologetic on a situation that was totally out of his hands. So many retail employees really don't even try to care about the customers and I could tell this kid was really dedicated to his job. Such a great employee!! read more

I can usually find great deals at this Goodwill. It is organized well except I don't like how the dresses are organized. It is a little confusing. The staff is usually so friendly and they have people to help put things in your car if you get bigger items. I was there yesterday and got 3 pairs of jeans for $10. They have a different tag color every week that is 50% off! Every once in a while they have customer appreciation days which they give 20% off coupons. read more

This goodwill is different from the others in the area, because: 1. Cleaner and much more organized 2. However it is much smaller, selection wise and inventory 3. No need to ask the store clerk to get you a fitting room, you can go in if there is one vacant 4. I would have given this Goodwill location 4 or 5 stars but I was not a fan of their return policy. I was informed at different Goodwills that records were returnable if they didn't work. When I tried to return them at this location, I was informed that they usually do not return records and that each store has a different policy. This is a huge location. I have found a few gems once in a while. Lots of clothing, electronics, furniture, games, frames, shoes, books. A little skimpy on the records. read more

There's some good finds here, but that all depends on whose donating. However when it comes to the larger items like furniture or larger picture frames. It's heavily over priced. You have a better chance of finding something either better of quality or condition at the lake Zurich goodwill for cheaper. This store currently had a white love seat priced at 69.99 and the lake Zurich had a deeper velvet love seat priced at 24.99. I know it depends who's pricing that day but they really make the prices high at the location read more

Very organized store and it has a big inventory compared to the other Goodwills, not much of electronics and furnitures but the clothing section is huge. If you are regular they offer reward cards so you can earn points and save some $$$. The staff is always nice and polite. read more

I happened upon this gem because I was doing business in the area. This is a very large store with a lot of everything. The day I was there, I saw a gorgeous high end glass kitchen rattan table with chairs for $75. It was gorgeous and snapped up quickly. The store is bright, clean, organized and has more lamps than any GW I have ever been to. Definitely worth another visit. read more

I live nearby and have been quite a regular customer at this location visiting the store almost every other day but... Today, it was the last day I visited the store because they made me so upset with their customer service. Yesterday, I bought a stethoscope there but when back home I figured it out that the device was not working at all, none of the sound came through it , dead. Today, first thing in the morning I went to the store , called for the manager and asked for return or at least for some kind of substitute. In respond I was told there was no way to get it back. And answering to my question whether I can just throw it out since it is not in working and useless the manager Tracy said YES. It sounded quite rude. I accept they have changed their return policy during the covid stuff but in my humble opinion you guys have to check the devices you are selling to make sure they are in working condition. This store seems like it has improved, yet it still isn't as good as the one in Arlington Heights. I went there looking for old records for my collection and one day I found an amazing messy pile of old gramophone records, (the ones which spin at 78rpm, and are very heavy, not your regular turntable records. I hesitated quite a bit and didn't buy them because my 78 player wasn't working quite right. Few days later I have fixed my player and listened to one of the gramophone records which I own. I immediately thought of the pile of these at this Goodwill, knowing that no one was going to buy them, since almost no one has a gramophone player nowadays. I walked in and was so surprised. All the records, 45 and 78 were gone. The 12 inch records were neatly organized in a bin. I was very disappointed knowing that they went to the trash. I came across one of the managers at this store, and asked him about the records, whether he has any idea if they've been bought or thrown away. He hinted at the latter, but didn't admit it. Well at least he was kind of honest and was very nice.. Lesson learned, if you see something no one would buy at the Goodwill, buy it else it will end up with the trash. (or maybe sold too?) Advice to Goodwill? Offer to sell these records in bundles for a lower price if you want them gone, or at least have your items on the shelf for longer than a week. 45's and 78 records should really not be priced the same as regular 12inch turntable records. read more
