My mom was buried there in 2021 and even though my parents preplanned everything some questions…read morewere not asked due to it was necessary at that time. After my mom died, my father and I sat down with one of the staff to get her headstone. We had inquired about the vase but found out it would cost thousands of dollars more. The staff member told us at that time we were able to put whatever we wanted to on my mom's grave, so we decided not to purchase the cemetery vase that attaches to the marker. After my mom was buried, I went and purchased a beautiful angle, two solar lights, and had my husband make a very nice metal vase to put flowers in. Every time I would come back into town, I would go replace the flowers with a new set of artificial flowers. Everything was fine for over a year then suddenly, I went to visit and noticed that everything was gone. I went to the office and was told that they were enforcing the rules, and the only thing that could go on the graves were flowers that had to go into the "cemetery approved vase". If we put anything there, they would end up picking it up and disposing of it. They felt as though people were putting things on graves that were unnecessary. I of course explained what we were told when we purchased the grave marker, all they could tell me was sorry that it is in the paperwork. Understanding that the funeral home has rules and regulations we were misled during a time of difficulty and were told that we could put whatever we wanted to on our mom's grave. After all of this I did ask about purchasing "cemetery approved vase" and they told me they could give me a discounted price, but it still was over a thousand dollars, so I have not purchased one. This is upsetting because my mom loved flowers. One of the things we talked about when she was alive was to make sure I brought her flowers. Now when I come into town and go to visit her grave it is so upsetting. There is nothing there but her maker. No flowers, no angel, no nothing. I am sure my mother understands it is not my fault that we were misled but still the grave looks so empty and plain. The headstone is sinking in the ground, along with others around hers. The grass is brown and dead, as well as full of weeds and stickers. Going to visit your deceased loved ones should not be more depressing because of the way the ground are, but it is. Even my father has been staying away.
