I have loved Goodwoods since they initially opened in the early 90's in Old Town Spring. The owner and staff are always friendly and welcoming. So, after hearing of Richard's absence from the business from someone, I decided to stop by again. The young ladies working have far more empathy, understanding and are a million times more pleasant. Since then, I have shopped a few times for random goodies. While stock is still a hassle (as it is for a lot of businesses), the politeness of the current staff goes a long way. Other reviews since my initial one continue to show why I stayed away for some time. I think I'm done coming to this store. It is the most unfriendly place you will ever walk into. Nobody greets you when you walk in or helps you find anything or thanks you for your business after you pay their exorbitant prices. I personally hate doing business with people like that. Super over priced too!! You can order everything they have on Amazon at a much better price, and no attitude. read more

The first time I came in, I knew I was in the right place; They had The Great British Bake Off playing on the wall via projector. My mom grew up in England, and even though I haven't been yet, I'm always excited to try some of their common staples. The British Isles shop in Rice Village makes me claustrophobic with their Knick knacks. This place is primarily food- straight to the good stuff :-) I thought the service was helpful both times I went- even giving me recommendations for Rusks for my baby girl. Do NOT miss the fridge section. They have small bacon steak and ale pies that are out of this world! Literally my only wish is for more varieties of McVites biscuits. But my wallet and waist is probably better off not going overboard. read more

While I'm sure it's more interesting to visit the bricks and mortar store, I had to order on line. I placed an order online on Wednesday, October 12, 2022, received 1 item from the order on Monday, 17th. Part of my order was for frozen items which were shipped by Fedex 2 day Express on Monday, 17th. I initially expected delivery on Wednesday,19th (2 day), had a notification from Fedex that it would be arriving early on the 18th (great !), however, then had another message from Fedex to say it would be Wed.19th, and it finally arrived today, Thursday 20th. So much for 2 day Express !! The dry ice was almost gone but thankfully, the items were still frozen. My beef is with Fedex, not the company. Fedex simply do not care about their deliveries. They might offer a cheap service to the supplier but are NOT RELIABLE !! read more

First time visit. Alix was a real treat. She showed my wife and I around the store, explained what the different foods were all about, and even told us how to prepare the pork pie (so much different than the French Pork Pie my family makes). I will never return to this store. We were not greeted appropriately. The clerk just stated "ignore the mess we are remodeling " as she was running past us. Their are coolers everywhere without labels to know what they had. Nothing appealing nor interesting. We went there because my grandson studied about England and we thought it would be fun. We thought we'd find lots of neat things. Not well staged, could have been so cute if attractively decorated. Dark and dusty. Clerk was not wearing a mask as is required in Harris county. She never thanked us for the one thing we purchased. I felt very uncomfortable as I'm older and can't get the virus so I left without making a purchase and waited outside for my daughter to make her purchase. Many seniors were shopping and every store we went to had staff wearing masks but this one. Very disappointed. read more

I so looked forward to visiting this store before Christmas to get all the goodies I loved growing up with my British mom. I drove 3 hrs to meet my friend to go shopping in Old Spring. I headed toward the cold foods as bangers r a must - and I tripped , almost fell & twisted my ankle badly. I looked up & saw the man behind the counter staring at me. I said wow, that hurt. He laughed at me , yes laughed . Pointed to all the signs that warn - well honestly I did not see them . I was looking at the area I was headed to, not up or down . Sorry, my bad . He continued to berate me , in front of others , he ruined my shopping day . What he didn't know is I have had extensive surgery on that foot, took me a yr of rehab to walk in a regular shoe . I was a little freaked out because it hurt very bad, and was distressed . Just a small iota of empathy- maybe a can I assist u? Do u need to sit down ? Instead, he chose to humiliate me . Shame on y In response to the reply: "we"? I saw only I'm guessing it was you. YOU treated me badly & I imagine that is ur MO with women . KARMA baby. I hope ur little shop fails . You r despicable . Very nice experience friendly and helpful. I went into the old location in the woodlands every couple months to pick up sausages and a few items. The new shop in old town spring is very nice and has twice the inventory. Every time I am there Alix always greets me with a smile and answers any questions I have. I have been a Goodwoods customer for years and am so happy to see them back in Old Town Spring. The new space is MUCH better than their old location. Everything is well displayed and easy to get to. The freezer section is SUPER! It's especially nice to see they have room to add loads of new products. I've been to the new location 4 times now and had absolutely no problem getting a parking spot right in front or just next door. Brilliant!
