Every time I come here it's an experience. They have more things than you could think of. Very friendly staff and someone is always cleaning the store. Bad bad bad attitude. The old lady in the back is the boss even though she'll deny it. Confirmed by employees today. Tried to buy pork which is sold by the pound. I told her I wanted the side that wasn't all burned and dried up (see pic). She said too bad you have to take that side. She decides. Forget it! Who wants to buy meat that's most inedible because it's all burnt. Geez. Totally rude. Won't buy here again even though some days she's nicer. This is a prime example of what happens to owner attitude when there's little to no competition. No need to be nice to customers. I hope someone else comes in so all us customers can go somewhere where they're at least indifferent (I know true kindness is probably asking too much so I'd settle for just indifference). Love this Asian market super close to The Woodlands and carries almost everything you need to make any type of Asian dish your heart desires. Vegetables are consistently fresh. The person behind the fish counter was very rude. I bought a fish and asked if they had more so I could have options, but he was mumbling and complaining, asking if I was going to take it or not. To avoid confrontation, I just took it and asked him to clean and cut the fish. To my surprise, when I got home, the belly part of the fish, our favorite portion, was missing. My husband weighed it, and it was 0.4 lbs less than the original weight. I even tried putting the pieces together, but it didn't match, part of it was clearly gone. He definitely took the best portion of the fish, which we were also looking forward to eating. I hope that by doing this, you helped feed your family by taking from ours. This was the only Asian market i could find closest to the woodlands. The first option that showed up in my search. Lots of parking available. The entrance was clean. My shopping experience was quick. I only needed gyoza wrappers, which were found in the back freezer area near the seafood. I observed the seafood - all of the fish was on ice allowing customers to bag and weigh items themselves. There were many gyoza wrappers brands available under $3 which is what I expected to pay. I also purchased chives. The produce section is small, but I found what I needed. The checkout line was long, with only cashier available. To pass the time I browsed the boba tea section and noodle aisle. Once the checkout line was shorter I jump into line. JUST A HEADS UP, there a $5 minimum charge on credit card purchases. Went here on a Sunday in search of ingredients to make Pho Ga (Chicken Pho). The one item that I was worried they wouldn't have is the fresh pho noodles in the pink brand. Turns out- they have it! They had everything we needed from vegetables to spices at a great price and it was all fresh. The only thing we wish they had was a packet of all the pho spices in one like the old man huong que brand. Overall, a great experience and a clean store and would come again. read more

I went to this market for the first time this week and was impressed with their selection of food items and snacks. While unassuming from the outside, the store has plenty of products on each shelf, varying from korean to chinese to Vietnamese. If your into Asian cooking, this place is great. Super variety of things like rices, noodles, every kind of cooking sauce, vinegars, veggies, and strange meats if your really looking for a twist. Frozen section, lots of dumplings. Be prepared to look around for a couple of hours when you have time. Bought the Kim Chi in the cold section. It appears to be made locally. Great place to get affordable foods. I love to get my produce here that American grocery stores dong have (mushrooms/ beans sprouts/ kimchi) as well as snacks and soup ingredients. It's not hmart but it's better than stocking up and making that far drive. I probably went a little crazy with my purchase but I was too excited. The prices are a tad higher than normal retail in hmart and Hong Kong supermarket etc but it's not ridiculously expensive. Besides that there's a huge selection on fresh greens and taro and Japanese sweet potato. Your common Asian snacks and ice cream. I took pictures upon entrance but got lazy. Ya'll, I love this place. No, it's not a huge Asian store but Hanks goodness there's at least one in the Woodlands. There isn't a huge Asian presence in the Woodlands and this store has everything you'll need to make even the most basic of Asian dishes. There are Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Thai, and Vietnamese items all throughout the store. They get in new shipments of all kinds of yummy goodies at different times so it's best to check in at least once a week. The people who run the store are super nice and they're willing to help you with any questions or look to see if they have a specific product. I've never had a bad experience here. I was able to see them grow front the first moment they arrived and I'm so glad they are doing well. Please stop in if you have the time. And I highly recommend you check out Yori Wow in the back. Lovely Korean lady has homemade food ready Wed-Sun. P.S. Thursday thru Sunday the store sells Roast Duck, Roast Pork, and Chinese BBQ Pork. read more

This is a small grocery with a Korean take on Asian grocery. They do not have the large selection you would see at something like H-Mart or Ranch 99. And their prices are a little bit steeper most likely due to the lack of quantity, once again compared to the big guys. BUT that is about the only downsides. They are also much closer and carry all the mostly required things you could want. There is also a small food stall inside with pretty dang good bibimbap (take out only). As of today (05/17/19) the food stall is closed Monday and Tuesday. I make the 12 mile drive which is worth it over 35 miles to H-Mart or Ranch 99. So visit this place, they have some good produce and meats, maybe not the variety you expect from a regular grocery, but that is part of the draw. Many types of noodles, ramen you can't get outside an asian grocery, fresh seafood. Give it a try, you will see. read more

I love this store. I used to drive nearly an hour or more to Bellaire before I realised Yun Loy's was just down the road. Nice family run market with a limited but good meat and fish counter. The bbq pork and other hot items are delicious. I always find any item/ingredient I'm looking for when I'm trying to cook Asian dishes. The vegetables are always fresh and look great. They even have big bags of beef and pork bones for when I make pho. Yun Loy's joined my grocery store rotation a few years ago and I'm happy they are in the community. read more

This a small, yet cute little Asian market that carries many ingredients for your gourmet cuisine at home. They have a small freezer section, many non-perishables, and even some refrigerated produce. They may have your favorite Asian candy and I dig that they carry special pots, hats, and little items unique to Asian culture too. If you're familiar with 99 Ranch or Seafood City, this is like a small version of those stores. It's nothing fancy, and the checkout line can get long, but eh...where else are you gonna go? Who would have thought that they would finally open up a hardcore Asian market so far out in the suburbs away from Houston/Bellaire/Spring Branch? Well here is your chance to make an almost one stop shop for your preparing and Asian cooking essentials. The store is new, it's clean and the Asians here are actually pretty friendly. No snarky looks, no peeping eyes just because you are looking at items for a long time, no long lines and no mass hysteria Asian drivers in the parking lot, win! One of the first things I noticed when walking in are these "Kit Kats" that everybody keeps talking about. Green Tea and another flavor but I'll wait till the bag goes down from $6 a little but what I have to expect from a market with no competition is a slightly higher sticker. Pretty reasonable in here still. One thing you won't find but in all fairness they try to have the main staples of shopping are the long isles of Tea, woks and such but everything else on inventory is practical for what you really need. These people really have it on target on what this local community wants and am surprised nobody has tried this around here a long time ago. Parking is ample, it shares spaces on a strip center but very effective spacing. There is a $3.99 lunch special, I have not tried it yet but while we're on this subject..... The noodle isle! I forgot to mention about the noodles You will find a decent variety and most important of all you can get "fresh packaged" noodles. I know it's an oxymoron but there are some things you just really can't get locally so this is the next best thing. If you can't find this easily just look for a Walgreens, Federal Express or a Game Preserver sign, it's nestled right next to them. read more

Being Asian in The Woodlands area can be challenging. My girlfriend lives here, and living in League City I feel like I am so lucky to have a lot of Asian options for food and groceries in the Clear Lake area. I feel like this part of Houston is the least diverse. That means less Asian options for food, and for groceries. Yun Loy is definitely a life saver! It's the closest Asian market around. This place offers all the basic Asian grocery supplies you will need. They also have a neat Korean cafe that sells Korean food to go, and a stall that sells char siu, Peking duck and deep fried pork belly by the pound. If this place didn't exist I would have to go to the Little Asian strip on 1960 which would be around 25 minutes away. If not, I'd have to drive all the way to Chinatown. The prices can be a little expensive, but it's all about convenience. It's either go here or go at least 25 miles away. On a side not, the staff seems friendly especially the ones at the Little good stall section in the back. Overall, I'm glad this place exists! I would definitely recommend it for your Asian grocery needs. read more

I'd give 3.5 stars if I could. After searching H-E-B, Walmart and Kroger for canned Lychee which is normally in stock at these stores I decided to check Amazon and the price was three times the normal cost. I decided to hit up the Asian market and sure enough they had it. The downside was the overwhelming old fish smell and the 10+ minutes to check out because there was only one cashier. The cashier was quick but there was such a long line that went halfway down one of the aisles. The store does have a giant selection of everything Asian and when the other stores are out I'm thankful that we have an Asian market nearby. read more

Great deal on the fresh herbs, especially fresh dill when in stock. Ginger is always fresh and a huge value over grocery store prices. Very helpful staff during my last few visits and I'd been asking them about stocking the dark chocolate Kit Kats from Japan I got hooked on. Last time I went in, there they were, front and center when you enter. On another visit I was cooking an asian recipe and had written down the one ingredient needed but knew I couldn't pronounce it so I handed it to a gentleman stocking the shelves and he relayed it to someone else and I was walked directly to what I needed and had 3 different varieties/brands/price points to choose from. I have never purchased from the fresh or frozen section so I have no review for those areas besides it has always looked clean and never had a foul odor, wet or sticky floors or food that looked spoiled or inedible on any of my visits. I have made many purchases in most of the other sections and have always been pleased with the taste and quality of the products and produce. Most items are available at a better value or equal to competitors and even the big box stores. Everything is always pretty organized and they are willing to help you find what you need. Great store for people who actually cook or the instant ramen lover as well. If I can't find what I need at local grocers during my usual trip, this is one of the first places I check especially when it comes to herbs, produce and different peppers! read more
