Was subjected to questioning when I wanted oil change. When he got to asking for my address I asked if he really needs that for an oil change. He said he did not. Not a particularly friendly an tactful way of dealing with customers. I asked if the could reset the maintenance required light on the dashboard. He said yes. I took my car in for an oil change a few weeks ago before driving to southern California. I received a call telling me that a tire was showing secondary skin and the front wheel bearing had "play" to it and that it needed to be replaced. They gave me an estimate for the wheel bearing that was over 600 dollars. They told me that I needed to replace the tire before I drove down but could (understandably) not tell me that the wheel bearing was safe. As I am a young female college student with absolutely no knowledge about cars, I had them speak to my mother. They told her the same thing, and she decided to have two back tires replaced and not to replace the wheel bearing. When I arrived in southern california, I had my local tire man look at the wheel bearing, and as it turns out the only problem was that a bolt was loose and was fixed free of charge. I made an appointment for an oil change a week in advance, went out of town for a couple days and rushed back in time to make my apppintment. Come to find out when I get there they could not change my oil because they didn't have a place to put my used oil. It would have been nice if they would have called or sent an email to let me know that they could not keep my appointment, it would have been expected on my part to contact them if I could not keep it. It's just common courtesy and good customer service, which I just Goodyear does not have. I will be going elsewhere from now on. read more

i took my car in for an oil change. They said it would be 45 min to an hour. I said no sweat and i'll jot over to the mall and kill an hour. I came back after an hour and my car was not finished. They stripped out my drain plug on the pan and tried to blame it on who ever changed the oil before. I know it wasnt stripped out, because I changed it myself the time before. if it was stripped out from before, the plug would not have stayed in during normal driving.The service manager was very rude about it and refused to fix it. they wanted to charge me for a new oil pan plus labor($585) I got a little upset and said that they broke, they better fix it. Then the service manager pushed me and tried to make me leave the store. It wasn't until I treatened to call the police, that the mechanic got between us and said he would try to patch it. He did by forcing a larger plug into the hole. these guys are crooks, stay clear!!!!!!!! read more

Horrible place! Been waiting over a month for them to fix the lug they stripped. They keep giving me the run around. First they say when they took the tire off it was fine but when they went to put it on it was stripped. Then told me I had to pay them to fix it. WHAT!!??! After arguing about how I should not be held accountable for their mistake they finally agreed to order the part and fix it. But of course the day I come to drop off the car no ones has any idea what they had to fix. After again having to explain why I was there, they say they will have it done by 12:30. When 12:30 rolls around no update. I called they said the part has not arrived should be here by 2pm. It was 5pm still noting. Finally I call them 10 mins before closing and they said they will call me on Monday when the part arrives and will fix it then. It's 3 Monday's later still no call or update and my tire is missing a lug. THEY HAVE NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THIER WORK OR ANY CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY OF THIER CUSTOMER!!! read more

I came here to get my car inspected because I was planning a 4000 mile road trip through the Grand canyon and Sierras. The steering wheel was wobbly, the mechanic told me I needed new rear brake pads, so I got them replaced. Halfway through the road trip, the steering became erratic so I took my car into Greulich's in Phoenix. The mechanic there told me all 4 rotors were shot, and the rear brake pads had become useless. I wasted time and money at Goodyear. Why didn't they just tell me my rotors were warped, they could have gotten my business and saved me from a potentially dangerous situation, through mountains with no brakes. I will not go to goodyear for any repairs again. read more

So, I brought my car in for a simple tire replacement. They were quick enough and all seemed well. I drove it just down the block and noticed some ticking/thumping. I told them about the new sound and they offered to diagnose the car for a fee. I wanted them to check and make sure they didn't cause the new sound and they wanted to charge me. Took it to a different mechanic and found out they had put on the wrong weight to balance the tire. The weight had been hitting some joint just inside from the tire damaging my car. So I got them to fix the mistake and the necessary "sticky" weight got put on. They couldn't care less that they had caused this problem and hadn't immediately saw/fixed it. They are a tire shop. Do not go here under any circumstances. They are horrible. I had a oil change appt that was suppose to take 30 min. (had an appt) THREE AND A HALF hours later it was done. Had to come back the next day, air pressure lite was on. They did not fill my tires during rotation as I specifically asked and on my return they didn't have time to fix the lite which their error caused. Bad business would never go back. This on top of rudeness from the guy who waited on me. There are too many places in town than to be treated and lied to this way. Forget it go somewhere else. read more

I've been coming exclusively to this Goodyear for 8 years now and keep coming back because of the excellent service and quality work. Every time I've been told a wait time they stick to their word. I've recommended this place to countless friends, never had anyone complain to me about it and have only heard good feedback. Every person there I've met is friendly and professional, I've never had any issues with them. For a tire shop, that's what I look for. Honest people who you actually enjoy being around while you wait for your car to be fixed! As for Ryan, he's been there as long as I've been coming in and always greets me personally. All the guys there are great...Erin, I'm not sure what crawled up your ass but just by reading your review I wanted to make it clear to other potential Goodyear customers that this place is awesome and so are the people in it! Made an appointment online to get some new tires. I filled out everything on the online form after selecting my tires and clicked the box that requested they call me before my appointment. Well, I never got a call, but I figured they must be busy. I go in to find out that they have none of the information from my online appointment form except my name and that I have an appointment. They also didn't have my tires. The guy working seemed irritated but told me he could get my tires for the next day and rescheduled me. I called the next day, still no tires. My starter went out on my Camry this Sunday morning in Capitola. Goodyear was recommended to me. They were open and waiting when the tow truck came in. Derek did the work and was very helpful knowing that I needed to get on the road. I was impressed that they had the part and were able to squeeze me in. I've had my tires rotated here a few times. I had some issues the last 2 times. They are really busy here. I called ahead the day before to make an appointment. They never bothered to enter my appointment in the appointment log. When I arrived at agreed upon appointment time they had no record of my appointment. Had to wait 4+ hours. I asked them to do brake inspection while wheels were off but they did not do this. They over inflated the tires. They mis diagnosed tire wear patterns. And they did not return/lost my wheel lock the previous time I was there. read more

As a customer that was very dissatisfied with their service, I was actually very pleased with the follow up to my complaint. The service manager Ryan Brown could not have been more helpful. He had Jake solve my air conditioning problem on an old (1995 Thunderbird) car and did not charge me an arm and a leg for the work. I think next time, I will just complain to the manager first and then write a negative Yelp review if there is not a professional response. Great place! I called this morning to see if they could get a nail out of my tire. The guy on the phone said I can drop it by and they could fix it in between the other appointments. I dropped it off around 8am and got a call by 8:50am saying it was ready! I was so pleased that they fixed my tire fast and the workers I dealt with were friendly. The tire business is about service. If the store has the tire you want, at the price you are willing to pay, the measurement is about how you are treated and the convenience offered for provision of installation and any other requested service(s). I knew what I wanted, understood the price and discount offered this month, and left my vehicle for tire installation and alignment, if needed. After 5 1/2 hours of waiting, I called the store and learned that the tires had been installed but the alignment check had not been done due to tie-rod wear. (Remarkably, I was not offered the opportunity to request order and scheduling for replacement of the worn parts.) Went to the store to get the car and asked why no one had called to inform me the installation was complete and no further work would be done. Two employees at the counter told me that so-and-so had not called me (which I clearly knew) and when i finally asked if they thought that was a problem, agreed that I should have been contacted. Hearing the unhappy conversation, another employee (I'd bet a $100 he was a manager) emerged from an office to lean on the counter and ask what was going on. After that, he said nothing. After completing the paperwork for the tire purchase, as I was about to leave the store, one of the staff finally said he was "sorry" for the problem. I took the opportunity to advise him that some kind of expression of regret closer to the start of an initial customer interaction when the business has failed may engender a customer's beginning of relaxation about a situation. Three employees of this small business, which had been vigorously recommended to me by a friend who happened to accompany me, had no idea about the most basic of customer service fundamentals. My complaint is not that the failure of communication that kept me away from home for hours, but rather that the staff were completely clueless about how to even speak with a customer. I wouldn't go anywhere else. They were honest with me about being busy, but fit me in and fixed extras I had been putting off for a steal. Instead of having my rack and pinion or suspension fixed, they figured out that my tires were severely unbalanced and one had 3 extra weights on it. This is after having brakes redone, tie rod replaced on the weighted wheel, and alignment done at a specialty 4x4/AWD shop because my car has a truck drivetrain. Now my car drives like new. They had the 13" windshield wiper that I was told I would have to order from the dealer in stock, saving me $, and put it on for $5! THE BEST PART: I had been waiting to smog because a check engine light was on, diagnosed as an O2 sensor which was $200+ to replace just the part. 3 repair shops, same story. These guys noticed that one of the jackalopes who worked on my car had not replaced the brake fluid reservoir cap and they thankfully put a piece of plastic over it to help me out until I can get the part. If it stayed like that, I could have gotten a bubble in my brake line!! Goodbye check engine light. The power steering flush solved all of my morning groans and steering wheel stiffness. I knew the tranny flush was overdue and was the most urgently needed service but I forgot to tell them, and this was the first thing they recommended doing right away after checking the fluids, so I knew they were totally on top of their game and not trying to charge me for erroneous items. They also have the Tire Pressure Monitor sensors in stock for my car, which was another thing I was told I could only get at the dealer, and they do the inspection for $25 and apply it to the cost of a new one. I've never been more satisfied with car repairs in my life, and IT'S MONEY IN YOUR POCKET to go with this shop which you can trust. All of my Santa Cruz friends agree, and get their business vehicles serviced there too! J. R. Neveu is the Store Manager, nicest man you will meet in your life, and even with adding all of my unscheduled repairs to their already busy schedule that day, they elected to work before and after hours that day and the next to help somebody who was traveling and needed an urgent repair, so that they could get back on the road ASAP. I had won a coupon for a free tire rotation and balance, so I scheduled an appointment to have it done. Half an hour after dropping off the car, I got a phone call saying that they can't do the work because my tires are too worn. So I asked the gentleman nicely if he could do it anyway and I would promise to exchange my tires soon since I wasn't prepared to spend a lot of money right then. He declined. When I came to pick up the car, the same guy didn't even dare to look me in the eye and apologize. He just requested that I sign some papers. I asked if he could at least return my coupon, so I could redeem it at a later time. He declined again and said that he even asked his boss about it. I reminded him that nothing had been done, so the coupon should still be good. He replied that by coming in I had already redeemed the coupon!!! I am really disappointed in this business. I had a couple oil changes done there in the past and it was never a problem. Today I didn't feel like a worthy customer at all (maybe because I didn't spend any money there?)! I requested a quote to install 4 tires purchased from Tire Rack. Brett quoted (over the phone) $10/tire. I made the appt for a few days later. When I arrived at the store, David looked at my 4 tires and asked what car they would be installed on. He then produced a written quote for $110 and change. I explained that was nowhere near what Brett quoted. David stated that the price he (David) was quoting was what their Tire Rack rate was (answering a question I hadn't asked). I got a quote for 4 tires on Saturday #1. The following Friday morning (at 10am) I called to make sure they would have all 4 tires for tomorrow (at 11am) and was assured they would be. Arrived on Saturday #2 to find that they only had 2 tires. I had them do the 2 tires anyway, scheduled the other 2 tires for the next Saturday (#3) and went home. Then found that they had charged me $20 more per tire above the original quote. Went back on Saturday #3 and was able to get the correct pricing (i.e. a refund) without an issue. But, 45 minutes later, was then told that they had forgot to order the 2 tires to be installed. So I had to wait 90 minutes while their guy drove to Los Gatos, to pick up the correct tires that they had a week to order and have delivered. After I'd been there for 3-1/2 hours waiting for 2 tires, a brake check and an alignment, finally left with 2 tires, a $1,200 "brake" quote (containing over $1,000 of crap I didn't need or want) and no alignment. Even with the manager right there... No apologies, lousy customer service and very little attention to detail. A sad example of bad follow-through and mediocrity. Now I have to spend Saturday #4 finding another automotive shop to do the actual 4-wheel alignment. I will not be back and have already told several people to avoid them. read more

My family and I have been loyal customers of this Goodyear location for nearly 15 years. We have always had good service; having had everything done from minor work like oil changes and tire rotations, to more complicated stuff like having a window replaced. I had always been happy with their service until recently. I went in for a simple oil change, which would turn out to be the last oil change my car would ever receive. A month later my engine was blown, essentially totaling my car. I took my car into a mechanic who checked everything out and informed me that my engine was not leaking oil, nor was it burning oil, yet the engine was completely empty of oil. Apparently when i had my oil changed at Goodyear Auto, they drained the oil, replaced the oil filter, and FORGOT TO PUT THE CORRECT AMOUNT (IF ANY) OIL BACK INTO MY CAR!!! Thanks for killing my car Goodyear. Now I get to go through the process of trying to get them to either fix my car or pay for the damages. Meanwhile I am left without a vehicle. I can only hope that Goodyear will have enough humility to admit their fault, and do the right thing. read more

My daughter had her oil changed and when the associate called to tell her it was ready he advised her that the rear brakes needed to be changed. When she said that she would look at them he told here that they wouldn't make it through the weekend. She bought a set of rear pads and brought her truck over to change them only to find out that the rear (and front) were not even half way worn. They actually looked really good, No need to replace anything! I went with her to speak with the manager who made an excuse that they were talking about a different car but would talk to his associate. I can't and will not tolerate places that try to take advantage of people. Although this is my first time to yelp Capitola Goodyear, this is not my first issue with them. The manager (David) said they have made changes in the past, but I think they need some more changes before I would recommend anyone to have work done there. read more
