"Brought my 2023 Highlander in with a slow tire leak. The technician briefly looked at it and refused to do a patch, claiming my tires are 'bad' and his boss is 'very strict.' This car is only used for a short 20-mile daily work commute and only has 20,000 miles on it--the tires have plenty of tread left. He didn't even bother to locate the leak or explain if the puncture was in an unrepairable spot. Dismissing a female customer with false claims about her vehicle is lazy, dishonest, and terrible customer service. Avoid this shop." read more

Bought a set of Cooper 70K warranty tires and paid extra for lifetime rotations and flat repair. With slightly less than 40K on the tires the tire pressure sensor light came on while my wife was driving the car home. She parked it in the garage and informed me of the light when I got home early in the evening. I looked at the tire early the next morning and it appeared to be flat. I jacked the car up and took the wheel off only to find a screw embedded in the center of the tread. Should have been no big deal. Since I had paid for free flat repair I took the wheel to them. I could see no physical damage to the exterior wall of either side of the tire. Their employee told me they would check the interior of the tire for sidewall damage when they patched the screw hole. I said fine and left the tire with them for most of the day. When they called I was told the the tire was unrepairable and they could sell me a single, not exact model replacement, tire for $240. Not wanting to pay full boat for a new tire, and thinking it was not wise to match 3 40K tires with 1 new not matching tire, I told them I would come by and pick the wheel/tire up. When my wife stopped in to pick the tire up one of the men assisting her told her that he didn't think that the tire was unrepairable. Since they had remounted the tire there was no way I could examine the interior sidewall for any damage. Being a bit suspicious at this point I decided to bite the bullet and get a new set of Michelins from Costco (on sale). When I purchased the tires I asked them to examine the interior of the tire with the hole and advise if they would have repaired it. On my repair receipt Costco stated that the tire was repairable. So I paid extra for service I didn't get and ended up retiring a set of tires at least 10K before their time. Won't be going back. read more

Chose this business based on ease of scheduling appointments, unfortunately it seems the appointment mean nothing. Requested service for oil change and alignment. Arrived on time, checked in, and walked to grab coffee nearby. Price was reasonable for the service requested. My truck was not moved back to service area until after 11am. Multiple walk-ins seemed to have delayed my scheduled service. 4 hours in only an oil change had been completed and alignment just beginning to be started. I did my research and ultimately chose 4 new Continental tires at Lloyds in Scotts Valley and scheduled an appointment online only to arrive the day of my appointment and be told they did not have the chosen tires available. Lloyds then tried to sell me 4 Coopers, a lesser quality tire for more money than the continentals would have been. Parking was terrible and the shop guys were not friendly. I walked out and will take my business elsewhere. This place needs to get their business in order. read more

Our car was having issue, so we stopped by Lloyd's Mid-Town Tires to do a safety check. Canek is very helpful and patient, he advised us to leave the car so he can do a safety check for us. We got a call from Canek telling us we should tow (not drive) since he does not have the parts on a Saturday. Canek is nice enough to work with my tow driver (AAA) to get the car home. I had my car towed to Lloyds because it wouldn't start. I've been monitoring this for months, and so told them to just replace the starter. After their initial inspection, they said the starter seemed ok, as it started after a battery charge, but couldn't be sure until they performed a diagnostic, for $200. I reluctantly agreed, and asked that while the car was on the lift and thus easy to access, to replace a simple oil sensor, which I provided. After the diagnostic, they said the starter was bad and needed replacing, for another $500. I declined, but they charged me $140 to replace the simple sensor. I could have, and should have done this myself, for about 5 minutes of effort. At their labor rate of 200/hr, they claim this took them 45 minutes. read more

I've been having our cars serviced here for years. I have always been happy until today. I called on Saturday about a dragging skid plate. A friend helped make my car drivable but it is only a temporary fix. We agreed that I would be there around 11 on Tuesday. I drove 23 miles from Watsonville and arrived at 11:10. I was greeted by a service guy who told me that he didn't have time for me and that I should check to see if Skip's could take me but he figured they were too busy too. Wow! This shop proved quite efficient (if not particularly cheap) in the past for replacing a battery and swapping in new tires, so I figured I'd see if they could install the shock absorber upgrade I wanted. Issues with cost/price and service make me think I'll look at other options next time. Specifically: - When I inquired about having them order the parts, the markup they wanted appeared to be roughly 4X the retail price I saw online. That's a lot! - When I bought and brought the parts myself, something happened that I should have predicted: the labor cost was set very high at $1500 to install all four shocks with an alignment. However, having finally got an appointment, I went ahead with the work anyway. Note: on that same morning, I checked in at the 4x4 shop a little further down the road and got an estimate for installing the parts plus alignment of $987, suggested that Lloyd's is either a third better, or a third overpriced - which, again, is a lot. - I dropped the vehicle at 9am as instructed after a) clarifying on making the appointment that I needed the truck back and could not leave it overnight, and b) verifying with the receiving clerk that it would be done by around 5pm. They called in the afternoon asking to keep the truck overnight, and in the end I picked the truck up at 6 and had to take it back the next morning. Of course, I arrived at 8:30 on the dot as instructed, but still had to wait in line behind other customers. Which is not a big loss as the "guy is going to be ten more minutes." Ten minutes must have turned into bigger delays, as the truck was not ready until 11am. This second, delayed trip was pretty disappointing and quite inconvenient. read more

I don't usually leave reviews, First of all, I had an appointment to have my oil changed and tires rotated at 830 am. Went for a walk at nine thirty.My car was still in the same place. Three hours later it was done. They told me it would be an hour. When they drove my car up, they told me I might need a new battery, they checked it and the voltage was low. I drove my car somewhere and when I came out my car wouldn't start. I noticed that they left my lights on when they checked everything out. I've never had a problem with my battery and always started great even on cold days. I asked to talk to the manager. They said they don't have any, which explains the way they run their business. Stay away from this place. I will never ever go here again. I don't care if it was free. I am fifty five years old, and this is the worst service i've ever had in my life. read more

I can trust the people at Lloyds and have been coming here for several years since i moved to Scotts Valley. Lloyd's used to be the place to go. They used to have great customer service. Unfortunately this past year we have seen their customer service decline. We won't return after the last issue. We scheduled an appointment for tires to be mounted/balanced. We arrived....and waited hours even though we had an appointment. Okay, no biggie. Then they couldn't actually balance them as they didn't have the proper balance beads. So they ordered them. They were supposed to call when they arrived to schedule an appointment. They never called. We called them. Set up an appointment, explained we cannot leave the vehicle so we would wait which is why we asked for an appointment. They told us to be there at a specific mid day time. We arrived 30 min early (just a courtesy Incase they had down time). We were informed they had a different vehicle on the rack and another on the schedule BUT we could leave the vehicle and pick it up at the end of the day. Hmm? What is the point of an appointment if you're going to triple book yourself AND why ask if we have to wait when you're going to demand we leave it even after we make arrangements otherwise? So they didn't do the full job, we left and did it ourselves even though we paid for the full job. What a JOKE! read more

I needed tires for my Dodge Ram. I went to amazon to price things and it was gonna be $800 for tires that were not as good as I got (Wranglers, I got Coopers). There is a tire shop that will take off your old tires and put on new ones for $60/rim so $800 + $240 = $1040. These guys sold me much better tires, installed them, out the door was around $1100. Very fair price, very nice people, I'll be going back to them. Good job! read more

Took my car back there because I had a flat and have road hazard insurance through them. They replaced the rear tire fine, but luckily on the way home I checked my air pressure sensor screen and it showed 77 pounds of pressure in all the tires. The correct pressure is 44 pounds max. I called them and asked about this and was told to check my door for the correct pressure and adjust it myself. I said there were no settings on the door on the MBZ, and asked them to call me back with the accurate settings. No call back... read more

Located this place by accident and I am soooo glad I did so. After a emergency visit to a Kaiser Medical Center up the street and while on vacation to Monterey, Ca (my daughter picked up a baby crab while walking on the sea shore and had a allergic reaction-Hives!), we returned to my vehicle and I noticed a nail stuck in my front, drivers side tire. I had driven 39 miles from our hotel in Monterey to this Kaiser location and there was no way that I was going to chance driving back and dealing w/this issue when we returned to Monterey. I knew I had to handle this issue now I used my Yelp app ( as I do for EVERYTHING!- THANK YOU, Yelp!!!) and located a tire repair shop withing 1/2 from where I was standing at that moment. It took me thirty seconds to arrive at this location. I discovered this shop to be located behind another business but it is easy to locate despite this issue as the tire shop has great signage on the main street. The shop area is large, clean and well organized As I drove into the parking lot, I was met by a employee within twenty seconds (IMPRESSED!) I explained my situation, the employee took a look and advised me that they would repair the tire and have me out within twenty minutes. Ten minutes went by and this same employee stated that everything was done. Wow! That was QUICK went through my mind As I opened my wallet, the employee advised me that there would be no charge. The tire stuck in my tire had not penetrated the tire itself and as a result, the nail was simply removed. I could NOT believe that I was not being charged. It was actually very cool! THANK YOU!! The way I figured, I could have been charged any amount and I would have had no choice but to pay. In this case, I did not have to pay a cent as I was dealing with a honest place of business. This explains their high ratings/reviews on Yelp I may never visit this place again as I did so while on vacation and out of necessity of having to visit a doctor down the street but it is good to know that honest, friendly and customer-loyal businesses such as this tire shop still exist in this world. So what's better than hanging out at home in the inland heat? A trip to Santa Cruz to enjoy the cool waters of the pacific and the great vibes on the pacific coast. Road trip time! Get in my trusty Honda to head to a great VRBO that we lined up in Aptos. Coming over highway 17 on the winding road is always a challenge, and not for the faint of heart. You take turns and never know what is around the next turn. In my little car a light comes on the dash after taking a sharp turn on the down hill. I pull over and google the code. My tire pressure is not good, my TPMS sensor says one of more of my tires is low. I instantly go to my trusted Yelp app and find a tire shop nearby. Hit the go button, and I am guided into the parking lot of Lloyd's Mid Town Tires. The staff is super friendly, gets my car in immediately, checks all the tire Pressures, looks at everything and determines that one of my tires is actually over inflated. They filled all my tires to the correct pressure and reseat my sensors. They were fast, friendly, and efficient. They would not accept one dime from me for the service. Who does that in 2021? Great customer service, I would buy tires or have any service done by them in the future. read more

Just as I was about to head out of town, my car notified me that one of my tires was flat. So as usual, I called AAA and they filled the tire with air and thought that I could just make it down to the tire repair shop, Lloyds. That worked out just fine and then Lloyds had the tire fixed within 45 minutes and it was half the price of what I would pay in San Francisco. read more

They communicated well and I paid a great price for good tires. Went back for an old car I bought for my son. They told me all that was wrong with it. I opted to fix a few things, then I fixed a few more, and never felt any pressure to fix it all. When my car was inspected and tuned up, the mechanics really spent hours working on it. Cost of repairs was reasonable. A competent and seasoned team of mechanics is still there, despite the ownership change. There are restaurants, including Starbucks, within walking distance if you need to wait as they fix your vehicle. The nearest public restroom is across the street at a gas station. Loyds did not have the tire I ordered so they tried to upsell my daughter who obviously looked like an easy target. When she called me to talk to them they tried to mansplain me about tires so I told my daughter to just leave and come home which she did. I then called Skips in Scotts Valley not realizing it was the same folks at a different location. Not only was the atmosphere at Skips uncomfortable for my young daughter but again the tech got on the phone with me and continued to mansplain after I expressly told him I knew all about tires and did not need help picking one out. Great service here at the Scotts Valley location. I brought in 16" wheels and wanted to size some tires for my Jeep 4x4. Francisco helped me out by installing a selected tire size on one of my wheels and then putting it on my Jeep for a test fit. Once the correct fit was determined he ordered a set of Firestone A/T's and I was rolling with fresh treads a couple days later. The fitment was important as I had been considering a larger tire, but I wanted to retain the stock height. The selected tire size is perfect; taller and wider than stock but without any clearance issues. read more
