4-5 year treatment to close my gap and 2 implants. At final appointment to complete treatment, on the final tooth, Dr. Wheeler broke the abutment in my implant (basically like breaking a nail in a wall) less than 3 days before my vacation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He was really defensive and rude as if I, the patient, did something wrong. I had to ask him for an apology that he didn't want to give. This initiated his micro-aggressive demeanor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]When I asked questions regarding my treatment, he gave rude answers, and even raised his voice at me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I asked to see my x-rays and for him to send my X-rays to my Periodontics. I, nor my Periodontics, never seen or received any X-Rays.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The Periodontics is the doctor that placed the implants in my jaw, of course she should know! He never communicated with her even after my request for him to do so. 2.5 weeks after he fixed his mistake, I developed 2 inflamed lymph nodes under my chin. Hurt so bad, I went to urgent care and followed up with PCM. My doctor confirmed that my dental work caused an infection that my body was fighting. I've never had a swollen lymph node prior to this incident. Not even after my Periodontics surgically placed the implants in my jaw. I have to deal with micro aggression in every part of my life, I would rather not associate with a micro-aggressive dentist when my health is involved. Also, it's funny how I requested a teeth cleaning appointment, after the fact, and I was told they no longer accept my Tricare insurance. He basically gave me the boot because they do, in fact, still accept Tricare. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have previously given this office 5-stars because Tina Marie, Karen, and the staff makes the office feel warm, welcoming, and friendly. Tina is the backbone of this office. This office also has great hygienist (Ricardo, Miguel).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dr. Wheeler, on the other hand, doesn't know how to handle his own mishaps and lets his ego get in the way of being a good Dentist. Also, I hate the way he talks to his staff.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I preferred when he was new to practice 5 years ago, his appointments were extended because he was slow, but he actually cared, and that's why I returned. During my treatment, Dr. Wheeler referred me to an orthodontics and a periodontics who were both amazing and did their part exceptionally well. Now that Dr. Wheeler is about 5+ years in, and has became like every other crappy doctor in AZ. Why is good health/dental care so difficult to find in AZ? Just to add, I have always walked into that office in good spirits and positive energy. My aura changed when his energy was off. I hope you heal, Dr. Wheeler! I went to the dentist to get a cleaning and it turns out this Goodyear dentist and his staff wanted to sell me a car. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dentist office manager is very sales heavy handed. They use flattery at first, and then they spend a half an hour, putting fear into your mind about your dental needs that are not existent.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The dental hygienist are unskilled when doing scaling and polishing she did not cover all areas of my mouth. There seemed to be a lack of confidence in the hygienist doing the procedures. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dentist asked me why I'm not spending the money. It felt gross like, I was being pressured to spend money. High Pressure salesmanship[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]].. I went to another dentist six months later and they stated everything was fine and there was nothing that needed to be done, and I have a beautiful smile that does not need work. [[HIGHLIGHT]]After receiving zero reminder about an appointment in summer 2025, I get a call 24 hours before an appointment and the receptionist was angry and terse with me over the phone because I canceled.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] She threatened late fees and carried the threat out with a bill. I'll start off by saying I have really good insurance. I moved to Goodyear recently and was trying to find a new dentist. I came here and they quoted me as needing $8,200 out of pocket in dental work. I was smart enough to know that that number seemed astronomically high. So I asked for my X-rays and took them to another dentist. After seeing another dentist it was only $408 out of pocket in dental work. I saved myself $7,800 by going elsewhere. I had high hopes for this dental clinic, it was actually a good visit and I felt comfortable even looking forward to going back, but an unfortunate work emergency caused me to miss my appt. what struck me as odd was the comment "Can you find a way to make it and avoid the $50 fee followed by a text showing me their policy (I am truly sorry but if it is a work emergency and I am required to be there) then I will choose my work which pays my bills over getting dental work any day. This dentist office is excellent! In a world where kindness, joking, having fun, all while understanding and listening to your concern's seem far removed from the normal, this place has it all. I'm not afraid of dentists, rather I'm the person who, if I feel anything, thinks their teeth are about to fall out. I can't lose my teeth, because if I did, and I'd have to blend up tortillas chips, instead of bite them, I would die. The office staff, is top notch, Ricardo, my hygienist, wowed me, and the dentist listened! My last dentist in CA listened too but, I was so worried I wouldn't find that kind of office there, here, and I did it! I'm confident I found a great place. There is so much new technology being used here, which I appreciate. Gone are the days of filling out insurance and answering questions on papers. The X-rays, and pictures, were also way more advanced then I've ever had or seen at a dentist. It made me trust that if I had a cavity, it would be found! As a new patient, you get a text with a link, and you fill it all out before your first visit. It was easy peasy. I work at a place that wants to change the patient experience through digital transformation, and I can fully appreciate what people at my work do in the healthcare setting, when I get to experience what digital transformation looks like at the dentist! I've been going to the dentist a long time, and Ricardo is the first hygienist that showed me how a proper toothbrushing should feel, on my hand. I absolutely love Goodyear Family Dentistry. The entire staff is amazing! I have no idea where they find these people but they hire the kindest, most understanding human beings. My stress is through the roof just walking in the door and they calmed me down and took a lot of time with me. They never made me feel bad for my teeth, or not flossing daily. They just helped me and I was embarrassed because of some issues I have and they were like it's ok let's just take care of it. Tina is always so genuine and sweet to me and my family. Miguel took the time with me to do a deep cleaning and put up with me crying. Poor guy. Nerves can do funny things.
