One thing I will miss about living in the South is the great pie places like Gooseberry. There just aren't enough pie places in California, and even pie chains like Marie Callenders are dying out. Gooseberry's storefront is in a pretty unassuming strip mall near the Bentonville USPS/Osage Park. It's not a sit-down place by any means, so prepare to get your pies to go. They not only have a case with fresh whole pies and mini pies, but also have a freezer with frozen savory pies. I ended up getting three mini pies--coconut cream, French silk, and banana pudding (not technically a pie but is sort of pie adjacent?). I think they set me back around $30; clearly they are not cheap, but I'd rather pay a little extra $$ for a quality treat. Many thanks to the nice guy at the counter for all the recommendations! My ranking: 1. French silk -- I am a sucker for chocolate cream pies and this one was great. The chocolate cream was rich but not too sweet. The crust to filling ratio was great and was clearly a quality, all-butter crust (I can immediately clock a crust that is cut with shortening like Crisco). 2. Banana pudding-- Solid, standard banana pudding. I know the bar is low, but I was relieved that it tasted like actual real banana, and not like banana runts/jello pudding. 3. Coconut cream -- This wasn't a bad pie by any means, but I didn't like the stringy bits of coconut in the custard, which I also found too sweet. I think toasted coconut sprinkled on the surface would've been the way to go. I wish I had gotten to try a quintessentially Arkansas pie like possum pie that day, so I would recommend calling ahead of time to get a sense of what's available/the rotating menu of the week. You can also pre-order a whole pie of your choosing, but it's just me over here and ordering a whole pie would be $$$ and dangerous. That being said, highly recommend! read more

These pies are DIVINE!! I truly have never had a bad pie from here. Everytime my mom gets a pie from here, it is always so exciting. My favorite is their chocolate one and their pumpkin one! Wow! The pies are so good! I have my favorite, but I haven't tried them all yet. The strawberries rhubarb pie is perfect for me. I love to heat up a slice in the microwave for 45 seconds, add some vanilla ice cream and enjoy memories from childhood. It always takes me back home. We love Gooseberry so much. My husband and I try to come get a 4pk sampler every so often to try all the new flavors. They're always very friendly and and helpful any time we've come in. I called them up soon after they opened to reserve a Dutch caramel apple pie, and once we were inside, the mini versions of Blueberry cobbler and cherry called to us, too. It's a family owned business and therefore very friendly. They have variety of pie and other treats that I wanted all of them! They have $5 mondays where you can get any the mini pie. I had the chocolate meringue and cherry pies and very satisfied with them. The location can be a bit confusing but its located inside the shopping center so you will have to drive in to find it. There is open parking lot in front of the store and all over the shopping center. You can call ahead for curbside if preferred. I like going inside because of the many varieties they have. Amazing!!! This place was such a blessing to find on our vacation. If you are looking for a pie for a special event, Holiday or just to eat this is the place for you. I literally stumbled upon this little pie shop. I was getting my lashes done and walked outside to leave and looked right and saw a little sign that said, Gooseberry Pies. I thought I'd take a peak. So glad I did. The shop is super cute. It's all about the pies! I fell in love with the minis. I chose 2 but honestly I wanted them all. When I was checking out the owner mentioned they do meals to go. When I got home as I was eating my Rhubarb pie, which is absolutely to die for I read their menu. I am ordering dinner to pick up on Thursday. Each night is something different. All made fresh. The prices are super reasonable. You receive a starter, a main, bread and 2 pies. Most of the prices seemed to average $34 for 2. My husband and I were saying the other night it's just not fun to eat out anymore and the service in most places has gone way down.
