When requested, I asked my friends for lemon petit fours for my birthday... because I'm not a huge fan of dessert. Shelby Lynn's was apparently one of the only places with lemon. Oh my gawdddd. So freaking delicious. I ate all of them and my friends got to share one. We got our wedding cakes from Shelby Lynns, and the main cake was great - this is why I am giving two stars instead of just one. The reason this is a negative review is that they never delivered our groom cake. My wife got a very custom cake made for the groom's cake, and told several people about it - it was one of the few things she was most looking forward to about the entire wedding. We sat there throughout the reception, as she got more and more upset that the cake wasn't present, and couldn't be located. Shelby Lynns admitted that they messed up and didn't deliver the cake, but did almost nothing to make it right. They offered to refund the price of the groom cake, but this is literally the absolute minimum they COULD do - we never got the cake, after all, so a refund is literally their legal responsibility. But they offered us nothing else, to make up for causing disappointment, distraction and distress on what was one of the most important days of our lives. I could not believe that a professional business made no real attempt to make right such a huge mistake. We will never get this back. We're not going to have another wedding. The one wedding we had, we had to deal with not getting our cake we paid for, that my wife was eagerly anticipating, and which she had told several people to look forward to. And no effort was made to prove that they care about our business, or about our satisfaction with their work. This was a major, major miss on their part, and they will not receive our business in the future, and we will recommend that others use another shop. read more

Shelby Lynn's is iconic. I had them do a cake for an event I planned, and they did the groom's cake for my wedding, and I was super pleased with how they looked. Unfortunately, as a gluten free diner, I can't tell you anything about the flavor. Normally, SL will require you to get a bride's cake if you order a groom's cake, but they made an exception because of my dietary restriction. Prices are very competitive with other bakeries in the area. read more

I called the bakery on Monday and asked them if they could bake me a cake for that coming Saturday. I knew there was a possibility they wouldn't have time since it was short notice, but they said they could make it -- sent them pictures of what I wanted the cake to look like, told them what time I would pick up, and put my card on file. I was so happy and had the perfect cake picked out for my sons baptism, and I was so excited because I love Shelby Lynn's cakes. Come Saturday, I go pick up my cake and they couldn't find the cake. After about 15 minutes, they said they had put the wrong date on the order and they didn't have it. I was offered petit fours or another cake, but I would have had to wait 30-45 minutes. I am so disappointed and now won't have a cake for my sons baptism. Unfortunately, I wont say I wont shop here again, bc I most always buy cakes for special occasions here... but I am very disappointed in this experience. read more

I visited on a Saturday morning hoping to find a ready made cake to bring to a party. What I found: No one was working the "sales floor". In fact, there didn't seem to be a sales floor. The impression I got is that this is a special delivery bakery only. All I have is my experience in a single visit. Since I don't plan to go back, I wanted to capture my findings. Service: Although someone came from the back to help me, I was clearly a distraction from the apparent decorating job that she was doing in the back. There was no attempt to accomodate or even suggest a future visit. Food: I selected a few petit fours that were on display in the small case. They were very tastey and uniquely decorated. I bought one dozen assorted and didn't have the same decoration on any of them. Watchout: My experience was that this is not a shop for the average consumer looking for a unplanned confection. There are may alternatives if you want to do something special without costing a fortune or planning ahead several weeks. Worth seeing: For special occasion cakes with pre-planning involved it is worth checking out the show room to get design ideas. Extremely disappointing experience! I've used her for years and every time I go back it seems to get worse. I ordered ahead and purchased cookies for a team cheer event and let them decorate as they liked. I couldn't even tell what one thing was on the cookie - someone later informed me it was a pom pom (only 1- not 2?) and it looked like a club with spikes on it. Unfortunately they didn't taste much better. Very dried out and hard! I felt like I was eating a petrified cookie! Probably gonna give Rick's a try next time :( read more

Tried and true bakery. They just did a cake for my moms 95th birthday and it beautiful and good. Every shower we have include Petit fours from Shelby Lynn's and they are delicious. Every fear I had about ordering a cake came true at this place. The help was amazing. I tried the petite fours before I made my order. They was very very sweet but the cake texture on them was great. So I asked the young lady that was helping me if the icing on the cake would be this sweet. She said oh no. I told her that was great because I don't want very sweet icing. So I ordered the cake paid almost $90. Dollar's for it. Got the cake opened it total disaster. The colors was awful the cake was extremely dry and the icing could put you in a diabetic coma. Worst cake I ever ordered. I would NEVER go there again. Nobody wanted to eat the cake due to the over sweetness of the icing and the dryness of the cake. It was a nightmare to watch almost $90 worth of cake all go to the trash. I was so embarrassed and ashamed to have purchased my cake there. read more

I don't know how Shelby Lynn's Cake Shoppe has 3 stars???? I ordered my daughters birthday cake thru them bc the other cake shop did not answer their phone nor returned the email we had requested for a cake quote. It was simple enough!! I contacted Shelby Lynn's by phone and my daughter sent them an email of the birthday cake she wanted made! They answered their phone around the 3rd ring 3 times that I had called and they answered their email! They gave a price quote and the day it would be ready. I paid by phone and my daughter picked the cake up and it was PERFECT! My daughter said "wait until I taste it first then I'll tell you if it's good or not." My daughter said it "was wonderful and tasted great." She also said it "was really rich and you didn't need a big piece." Her friends enjoyed it and my daughter and friends will be back for their next birthday or special ocassion! I am very pleased with this Cake Shopp and I will do business with them again!!!! My daughter said the Cake Shopp had more examples there and if she had of saw the examples first she would have picked one from Shelby Lynns! All in all, I am very happy bc it's rare I find companies who really take pride in their products or their customer service! I don't think you can go wrong with this Cake Shopp!
