In a town as ritzy as Yountville, it's so nice to have a low key option like Goosecross Cellars in the midst. Now don't get me wrong; I DO enjoy that Yountville ritziness. But, boujee doesn't have to be 24/7. Casual is relaxing, and Goosecross is the perfect place for a fun and relaxing tasting experience in Yountville. I came here with a large group of ladies and we really enjoyed ourselves. Antoine was our host and we had so much fun with him! He kept us on our toes during our entire tasting. He made us laugh, told us interesting stories, and also explained each wine that we were tasting. I wouldn't say that our group was rowdy.... but we were drankin'. And you know what happens when the gals be drinkin'! Mm hmm... we got a bit excited and little loud. However, Antoine handled our large party well and we so appreciated him for it. Speaking of rowdy; this is definitely a tasting room with a youthful glow. There aren't crazy drunks and it's not super loud, but it seems like this is where the larger groups like to hang out and truly have a kick back time. It's just fun! It's a fun time. Their patio is all the rave. There were several other large parties tasting out on the patio as well that day. Their indoor tasting room is really cute. There's a smallish tasting bar inside, but the patio area is nestled amongst their lovely vineyards. The photo opportunities are endless, and Antoine was nice enough to snap some photos of us during our visit. When it comes to the wines, I definitely enjoyed their white wines more than their reds. I loved their Gewurtztraminer and their Sauvignon Blanc was tasty too. The red wines that we tasted were just okay. Even their $150 Cab Sauv tasted a bit young, but just my personal opinion. My group and I really had a blast tasting here. I will definitely come back for a future tasting when I'm back in Yountville. read more

We joined the wine club at Goosecross last September. Beautiful outdoor setting. The staff is friendly and tailors the information they share based on your desires. We've attended two members only events, when you pick up your three times a year orders, and they were both spectacular. Music, delicious food, plentiful wine tastings and they have upgraded their outdoor tasting area with comfortable seating and umbrellas for shade. read more

I found out about Goosecross from Reddit as a few others mentioned and we made a day trip out of it. Boy am I glad we did. This winery is tucked away in Yountville so you may just blink and miss it but you'd be doing youself a diservice. The property itself is just the right size for an intimate experience while also having room to yourself. Service was awesome as we got the explanations of each wine but our host took time to just sit down and chat with us as well. The wines are delicious. The Sauv Blanc, Pinot and C. Elizabeth were our favorites and we ended up grabbing a bottle of each because we enjoyed them so much. They also were a hit when we opened them with friends. We also were there right after the harvest, or maybe during, so we had a chance to see them throw grapes into the extractor which was a nice touch. Highly Recommend! read more

The tenth winery of our Napa tour saw us enjoy a lovely chocolate and wine pairing on an outdoor patio overlooking a gorgeous vineyard at Goosecross Cellars. Located on State Lane before the Silverado Trail on the outskirts of Yountville in Napa Valley, Goosecross Cellars combines terrific winemaking, evident in the wines they serve, with wonderful hospitality. We had reserved a chocolate and wine pairing outside, and the weather was hot and sunny. Fortunately, we had shade from the California sun. The people at the winery warmly welcomed us, and they had bottled water to stay hydrated and a "Happy Anniversary" sign for us since we were celebrating our Irish wedding anniversary, in addition to our respective birthdays, which are 20 days apart. Our guide, Bob, provided a lovely experience through our tasting, discussing the winery, the thought behind the wines, and the joys of Anette's Chocolates that paired so well with the reds poured. Of the four varietals we poured, the 2019 State Road Merlot and the 2019 Branta were my favorites. The 2020 Zinfandel was good, while the 2019 Summit Selection Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon was exquisite, especially with the divine coffee chocolate truffle. The vineyards surrounding the tasting room and other buildings make for a beautiful experience at Goosecross. The winery is undoubtedly an escape if you want to be at a winery with its down-home charm and laissez-faire vibes when you enjoy wine there. read more

We ended up being 10 or 15 minutes late to our tasting because we stayed over at our tasting at Eleven Eleven Winery. We had called ahead to let them know and they were very kind and still kept our reservation for us. We did the Patio Tasting and loved all of the wines. I believe our host was Kitty and she was super nice! We ended up purchasing a bottle of the Branta to ship back home with some other wines we had. The view of the vineyards was beautiful and they had a lot of lovely plants and flowers around the patio as well. We enjoyed visiting and would come back again! read more

Goosecross Cellars was our first stop out of four on our Alluvium Wine Tour. It was a beautiful place, with a lovely back patio set amid the grape vines. Our host was so delightful and shared wonderful stories about the wine and the winery. Since this was our first stop, she also provided some insight into how to pace ourselves throughout the day. Great advice, though I'm not sure we stuck to her recommendation! LOL We loved the wine and the tasting experience. By the time we were finished and ready to move on, we ordered a case and looked forward to enjoying the great wines served up at Goosecross Cellars. Nestled in the middle of the Napa valley wine country, it makes it quite convenient to visit their facility along with others throughout your wine journey. The property itself is quite quaint with fantastic views, but nothing that screams pretentious. When it comes to the staff, very down to earth and not hard on the sales pitch, which is great. Let's be honest, none of us love the awkwardness of forced club joining. When it comes to their wine, they are superb and offer varieties for all, so not entirely focused on reds like many others around. When it comes to price point, I'd say it's affordable and slightly cheaper than others around, which is great might I add! All and all, it was a great visit and one I'd easily recommend to others. read more

Never knew this place existed till my friend suggested it for a wine tasting in Yountville. We were lucky to come here during a sunny day in the Fall so it was so beautiful just to sit outside enjoying wine with spectacular views of the estate vineyards and the Mayacamas Mountain Range. Fall and Spring are definitely my favorite seasons to visit Napa Valley. Living for the Fall foliage! It was so nice that they had prepared our table ahead of time with a customized tasting menu and our friend's name was on it. It's the little things that matter. The tasting was ok. We were introduced to 4 different types of wine. I didn't care too much for it and their pours were more on the lighter side. They didn't even spend a lot of time talking much about wine either. Maybe because they knew we weren't wine experts? Compared to other wineries I've been to, it was on the pricier side for $50/person plus tax and tips it came out to be $60/person. I'm not sure I'll be back any time soon but it was nice to check it out. read more

I'm so thankful to have found Goosecross in a Reddit thread about wineries with a view in Yountville. It's totally worth driving a few minutes from downtown Yountville to visit this gem. They are so welcoming and knowledgeable- definitely one of the more relaxed and entertaining tastings we've experienced! It's nice that they reserve a patio table for your group with a view of the vineyard and mountains. Don't sleep on the wines either! I came back and told my bf we have to try it together when we're both back in the area. I'm usually not a red wine girl but I enjoyed all their reds. The property is gorgeous, you can walk out into the vineyard and take pictures. It is also very peaceful and I think it's because they do a great job at booking and don't overcrowd. Heavily red wine, so this was never going to be my favorite as I prefer white wines. The only white they have is a chardonnay that they gave as a welcome taste. Fortunately it wasn't buttery which meant I could just keep drinking it. But the service, environment, and vibe are top notch. Superb. The woman who hosted us was delightful and she was so accommodating to my preference of white wines. We were the last people there but nobody was rushing us and they kept providing breadsticks which my wife loved. Planned on taking my wife for her birthday weekend to Napa and check-out a few wineries, then finishing with dinner at one of the nicer restaurants. The choice for our second wine-tasting stop came to Goosecross, primarily because of the reviews. I hate to be the party-pooper here, but our experience at Goosecross Cellars was less than stellar, especially considering the high Yelp ratings. As with (almost) any other winery in Napa Valley these days, all the tasting has to be reserved in advance and no walk-ins are allowed. Made the reservation for two for a Sunday 3:30 PM to allow enough time after our first stop. Nowhere was it mentioned they were closing at 4:30 PM and our tasting would have to be cut short. There were only 2 other parties in the small and cramped tasting room, and our host told us immediately that outsisde patio is too hot, even though that is what we booked. That might have been the case, since it was about 90 F, but for $50 tasting fee/person, I would expect at least a few words about their property and perhaps a short tour, instead of awekward attempts at small talk. We got four pours of their reds (since they were all sold out of the whites) before they not so subtly reminded us that we need to get going around 4:20PM. The wine was good but for the high tasting price, it better be. With Napa prices being as they are, next time around I will stick with tried and tested. If a winery is charging these premium tasting fees, the customer should be comfortable and relaxed, not be put in a rush to leave. Maybe I should've checked the operating hours before booking, but my assumption was that 5 PM would be the closing time, what seems to be industry standard. If they want to shut down and be done with at 4:30, they should not be taking reservations for 3:30 IMO. Sorry Goosecross, don't think we will be back. Not that you will miss us, but there is plenty of other places and other wine regions where $50 gets you much more. read more

This week marked our second trip to Goosecross, and it was great to visit during harvest time. Antwoine, our host, was friendly, accommodating and knowledgeable, showing us around their winemaking facilities and giving us a crash course in the vineyard's history. Goosecross' facilities and ambiance are favorites of ours, providing picturesque views of the vineyard and a quiet rear patio setting from which to enjoy your wine. Unlike other tastings, you can really take your time here and enjoy the afternoon. Unfortunately, it was a bit noisy this visit, as two turkeys ("Turk and "Lurk") have taken up residence on the property and upset the dogs at the table next to us. It was also a bit distracting to have them patrolling around our table during the tasting. As far as the wines go, our favorites are the Sauvignon Blanc and the Bronte. That said, because of the date of our visit, the tasting included less variety than last year's, leaning heavily into the reds. The Sauvignon Blanc was sold out, and the new vintage of Chardonnay that had just been released and was restricted to members only. When my wife requested to try the Chardonnay in lieu of one of the reserve cabs on the tasting list, the management refused to open a bottle - in order to purchase it we had to be members. As much as we enjoy the wine here, it's hard to sell memberships to someone if we can't try even try what's on offer. Hope our favorites are back in stock for our next visit. read more

We had an amazing experience here for my mother in law's birthday! From the start we were so impressed by all the little details! They had a sign on our table saying "Happy 60th birthday" and also had it printed on our tasting guide. Antwon was our server and he was so genuine and made our whole group laugh and smile throughout our tasting. One of my favorite of six wineries we visited in early May 2024. We absolutely loved our guide, Kitty! She was fun, easy going, knowledge and friendly. It was my first visit to a winery and she taught me a lot, meanwhile still answering the questions my more experienced parents had. Would recommend for smaller groups looking for something less commercialized. The wine was fantastic, and we loved the casual outdoor patio experience. The class was about 2 hours long. The winery was busy, lots of people buying wines & sampling. There is seating inside as well as a beautiful patio over looking the vineyard. Open 7 days a week from 10am - 4:30pm. Open most Holidays. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable & attentive. This one is off the Betten path & well worth taking a trip here. The location is wonderful and we love the wine at the neighboring spot - Kapcsandy, so thought we'd enjoy this place. Not sure why it has such a high rating by others. I really loved this winery - service was personable, wine was excellent, and wonderful views right in front of the vineyard. While the scenery was not as impressive as Viansa's (Sonoma), I thought everything else was better. The people here are super nice. Even before I came, Denise gave me a whole list of recommended wineries/restaurants/hotels and answered all of my random unrelated questions. The host during our tasting was also so sweet! She gave more elaborate explanations of the wines, which I'm a fan of, and she would pour me more too! When we arrived, my name was written nicely on a card for our table and we had a whole couch patio set up for 2 people. Wines were rich and well balanced. I liked both the reds and the whites.
