The award for best array of wines ever offered at a tasting goes to The Yount Room. Let me clarify: this is an award I've created, in my own head. I like wine (reds, specifically) and those featured here were the most aromatic and enjoyable lot I've ever sampled. Having been a one-time member of Conn Creek I received an invitation to a (complimentary) tasting here, as they morphed from Cornerstone Cellars into The Yount Room. The Yount Room features Cornerstone wines but also the wines of others lacking tasting rooms, including some like Conn Creek, whose tasting room was lost in the fires. Situated in Yountville's historic old railway station, the interior space is a stylish hybrid tasting room/retail space. A record player and a stack of vinyl called out and host exemplar, Sean, was agreeable to spinning whatever we (the sole customers at the time) requested. Stones hits played to a Bossa Nova beat and Memphis lilts from Dusty Springfield made the visit quite perfect but without such perfect wines it'd be a lot less so. The Yount Room does tastings as well as wines by the glass and I can't wait to return for the latter. My husband and I stopped by The Yount Room to see if we had time for a tasting before our early dinner. They fit us in no problem. Sean was our host and he was amazing. He was able to cater our tasting to wines we like (I like white and my husband likes red wines). He was very knowledgeable and helped us even though we are not huge wines drinkers. The atmosphere was very clean, bright and cozy. They had a lot of art up by a local artist. We went to dinner and came back again to order a glass of wine and buy a bottle. This review is long overdue! Cornerstone Cellars is a beautiful and artsy winery and wine tasting room in downtown Yountville. All of Yountville is very walkable so if you are in the area, I would highly recommend stopping by or making a reservation in advance! While I loved the decor and art in this winery since it has a fresh, warm, and welcoming feel to it, what I loved most about this place was their hospitality and phenomenal wines! We were warmly welcomed and everyone we interacted with was so friendly. I have to say that their hospitality is top notch here! They pride themselves on having southern hospitality and they have truely nailed it! The host/wine educator was really informative and we learned a lot about the wines during our tasting. The wines are phenomenal and we loved all the wines we tried during our tasting. Cornerstone Cellars is a boutique winery that produces limited qualities of high quality wines so it's worth purchasing your favorites while you are there since you will likely not find them elsewhere. What an educational and exceptional experience! Sean helped walk our group through our 5 tastings, 2 whites and 3 reds. Then tasting menu was quite unique and filled with flavor profiles I have yet to try! The sav blanc was really drinkable, it didn't end with an acidic flare. Another unique flavor profile was the cab franc it was very smooth and sweet. Our party enjoyed our tasting so much we went home with two bottles the above mentioned ones! Sean shared that this winery is women owned and has a woman winemaker which accounts for 10% of Napa valley winemakers. Although you can't bring in your own snacks there is a cheese board you can purchase to pair with your tasting. read more

Wow... Were we ever impressed! We got there late on a Friday night at 5:30 and they closed at 6 o'clock. My friend was a new wine Club Member and she was so excited to show us this winery. (Although we live here and have been here before) As we walked in right away I recognized Regina! It probably had been six or seven years since I had seen her when she worked at Hope and Grace but we totally reconnected and it was so awesome! Lisa was the one who waited on us and my girlfriend had bonded with her as well... Lisa treated us so incredible and poured us the whole line up...going overtime. I felt so bad because usually on a Friday night you just wanna get home early if anything! Their wines were incredible and my husband was blown away by the Howell Mountain! Introduced a friend and she cannot get enough. She scheduled a visit and we HAD to go too. We love being with Sean who knows how much we love the wines. We are partial to Howell Mountain, but Oakville is great too as is all their wines. The new tasting room is exciting and we look forward to tasting several of them BUT Cornerstone rocks it. So lucky to have had a soft landing at the Yount Room. As a former Conn Creek member, I was devastated to learn my intimate St. Helena Spanish-style space was gone for good. I do miss it still. I would like to start our review by saying The Yount Room is an amazing place with a great selection of wines, and also the best non-alcoholic wine selection my wife has ever tasted. The Bubbles were fantastic. Hold on, its gets better....Sean was an amazing host and you could tell he had a Hospitality Background ( as we do ) and knew we were in good hands as he greeted us at the entrance. I would suggest the Yount Room at any time of the day, and aside from the amazing wine selections featuring very popular wine makers and smaller labels, they are open until 7 pm! It would be best to have a reservation by 5 pm to enjoy everything they have to offer. Although they do take walk-ins. Some options that set them apart are.... Pre-dinner wine or bubble tasting in Yountville...Check One more stop at the end of a day wine tasting...Check. Ok..anything....Check. After another great lunch in Yountville, we walked over to Cornerstone Cellars and got lucky; they were able to accommodate us as walk-ins with a choice of inside or outside seating. Having enjoyed Cornerstone wines in the past, we opted for the 5-wines tasting. Our fab hostess, Lisa, asked us a few questions and then tailored our tasting based on our preferences. Then we proceeded to taste up the valley, ending with mountain fruit. While we carried bottles of the mountain fruit home, we truly enjoyed each and every one of the wines. Cornerstone Cellars is an absolute gem! While the wines are delicious it's the ambiance and hospitality of this tasting room that puts it above others. Centrally located in the middle of Yountville right across the street from the Bouchon Bakery, it has outdoor patio seating and pets are welcome out there as well (just let them know you're bringing a furry friend along) The interior tasting salon gives modern farmhouse and is so spacious and airy. It also shares a space with a cute boutique clothing store too. We were hosted by Sean, the hospitality manager, and he was absolutely amazing. He was so knowledgeable about the history of the winery and also shared his personal insights on the wines as well (he even shared his rose popsicle recipe with us that we can't wait to try out). We also found the UC Davis student made wines quite enjoyable and it's interesting to be able to support that program! We had an amazing time at Cornerstone Cellars. The service was excellent and the wines were very good such that we purchased several bottles. We throughly enjoyed our time there will definitely come back again. As a side note: Unfortunately we had an issue with the Tastefuli app that was needed to schedule the tasting. We ended up being charged twice for the tasting due to an error by Tastefuli. Fortunately, Cornerstone Cellars understood the error caused by Tastefuli and refunded the duplicate cost for the tasting. Cornerstone Cellars dedication to insuring excellent customer service, an enjoyable wine tasting experience, and correcting and any unfortunate discrepancies that may arise is commendable and very much appreciated. My reluctance to utilize Tastefuli again to schedule a tasting will continue to be an issue but my consideration to visit Cornerstone Cellars again will continue to be at the top of my list when we visit Napa again in the next several months.
