This company is inept. They screwed up and allowed my insurance coverage to lapse- ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS -due to their own company errors. And when I addressed this with the owner, David Gordon, he had the audacity to ask if there was ever a need for coverage during the lapses. What an idiot. What if there had been? Would Mr. Gordon cover it personally? I also made requests in writing for other tasks that were ignored, and I had to follow up multiple times to get the work done. After amore than half a dozen of these kinds of screw-ups on the part of his company, Mr Gordon emailed me personally and offered to help find me a new agent. So lame. Rather than step up their game, they bailed on me. When they couldn't do the simple paperwork to keep my policies in order, the boss suggested I find another agent, since his company is "less than great, to say the least." I will share with you the owner's own words here: "I'm aware that you have been dissatisfied with our service for some time and it seems that although we have changed staff and tried to meet your expectations, your experience is continuing to be less than great to say the least. Since neither of us seem to be benefitting from the experience of working together, I invite you to consider having us transfer your policies to a Safeco agent of your choice. I'd be happy to provide contact info for those or you can simply find them online." (oh, so his company getting paid for ineffective work was not beneficial to him?) I have used Gordon Insurance for two 6-unit buildings in San Francisco, and the Cyber Policy for my business. I worked with Keane Heller. He is a fantastic agent. Very quick and detailed. He was able to get us a better rate on the buildings than the companies we have used in the past, WITH MORE COVERAGE! What I liked best about working with Keane and Gordon Insurance was the education that I received when comparing quotes and going over the coverages in dept. I had high hopes of good customer service having seen the positive reviews on Yelp. David Gordon himself - very responsive. My initial email out got a response very quickly, we spoke on the phone. However, things failed miserably once he passed me to his staff. I was looking for Building Insurance for the Condo i live in as well as personal Umbrella insurance so was referred to two different associates in his office (Dana and Roberto - if you are referred to them - don't expect the best service or a call back until you've followed up with them a few times) I emailed on January 6th, today is January 13th and I did not get any assistance or even the courtesy of an email or a phone call from his staff to discuss what I was looking for. I had to email them to ask if anyone would actually be contacting me - they finally hopped on the bandwagon and realized that actually talking to the potential customer might be a good idea. The fact that I as a potential new customer am not on their 'calendar' to be 'scheduled' to call for over 7 days after the initial email from their boss to them to work with me - shows some serious customer service training is required. As the saying goes - you snooze you lose. Gordon Insurance lost my business searching for Umbrella insurance as the other two companies i reached out to responded back to me within 24 hours of me contacting them - that is what customer service is. Not the whole 'let me put you on my schedule at the end of never, and maybe we'll get back to you' customer service. Since I wrote and offered my feedback on the customer service, their associate now seems to be fully available to work with me. Again - more than 7 days and now it's become urgent! If you are looking for a swift response from David's staff - don't have too high expectations - you will need to call them out on it before they get the point of responsiveness. read more

I own a 4-unit Apartment building in Menlo Park which recently had a flood. One unit had its bathroom and bedroom ruined. I called Richard Huebner, my broker, and he sprung into action. Within a couple of hours I was contacted by an adjuster from Mercury Insurance. Richard was very empathetic and advised me on my rights and what my expectations should be. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THESE CLOWNS!!!!! Terrible service from seemingly inexperienced employees. Holy cow these guys have dropped the ball on too many occasions! Specifically they have a guy name Roberto who will literally screw up every. single. thing you ask him to do. If you must use these guys, make sure you don't use HIM. *When I have called to update credit card payment info on policies, they have sent me emails confirming the info was updated, then later found out they were not, and my policies were cancelled. *When I asked about coverage due to liability concerns, they gave me straight up WRONG info about my policy and nearly cost me thousands of dollars. *They are terrible about returning phone calls in a timely manner. Ugh. If anyone has another insurance company they recommend, please contact me. read more

I hardly ever write reviews but this is so serious that I'm taking time out to let everyone know. This company has dropped the ball three times! And probably proves I'm stupid and I shouldn't have given them so many chances. 1) The insurance renewal to my place was not sent to me, the insurance expired and I only found out when the bank had to insure the property for me. Any good agent checks in with you by phone or email if your insurance is going to expire and you didn't renew it. 2) The insurance I was assign to later was only good for one month since their underwriter didn't like the "peeling paint on the building" 3) When trying to find another underwriter, Gordon Insurance quoted me one price and at the last minute (the last day of the month) their underwriter raised the price by $1000 leaving me absolutely no time to shop around so I had to take it or risk not having coverage. They were not willing to cover the difference or even part of this cost. I tried to give them an opportunity to make this right but they were unwilling/unable to do so. DO NOT USE THEM!!!! read more

I started with Dave Gordan in 1985, and have never looked back. He and his staff have been on the ball, always getting back to me in a day. I have my retail store in San Francisco and an apartment house with him. Every month I get a flyer in the mail, telling me about the great service and low price offered by others, and when I have followed up, the price was always higher and the answers slow to get. When I wanted to raise the coverage for "code upgrade" on the apartment house, to $250K he switched me to another carrier that included $500K in coverage at a cost of $120. a year more. That is looking out for the Client. His outfit is the best. read more
