First of all, you don't just drive up to the place. There is a security guard at the entrance of the neighborhood. They make sure you are supposed to be there and then give you a temporary pass for where you should be headed. That said, once you're in you can drive around and check out the beautiful homes. But you will want to hurry and make your way to the Country Club. As you pull up, you will immediately think of antebellum homes in the deep south. The colossal columns, the broad entrance way, the detail to botancials around the building. It is the foreshadowing of what awaits inside. The carpet, the lighting, the crown molding on the interior might have you questioning how much the meal is going to be. Every team member is quick to ask if you need help with anything and have a historic knowledge of the Club and the course. My meal of salad with lightly fried chicken tenders, boiled asparagus, and housemade churros and ice cream made me wish I could order an entire second round. But I didn't want to be greedy (again, it was a meeting setting). I will be looking for an excuse to visit again soon. You should do the same.

They are running a fall break special for unlimited play for only $20 a person, most attractions were included (splatter room and human claw game were extra). For $20 it was steal of a deal, unfortunately they normally charge per hour for most activities. For me I know there is no way my kids will stay at one activity for an hour. I think they need to come up with more package options, maybe 3 activities for $25, 4 activities $33 or unlimited activities for $40. They do have small snack bar with drinks, beer, ice cream, popcorn, candy and other items. They have a retail area with shirts, key chains, sensory toys, hats and more. The splatter rooms are much larger at this new location. They do also have a couple of party room options. The staff was absolutely wonderful! I would definitely go back if they start regularly offering packages, otherwise it could easily become quite expensive with 3 children.

The food is the real star here. Everything is made fresh, and I was lucky enough to have chocolate-covered strawberries made to order, which were absolutely delicious. The drinks are fairly standard and won't steal the spotlight, but they get the job done. Parking takes a little patience to figure out, though there is space available once you know where to look. Located in the heart of…read moreAugusta, GA, it is fairly easy to get to and provides a small oasis from the bustle of city life. There are walking trails, the garden center, a small stream running through the property, a little shop, some fun farm animals to see, and I believe they have a cafe that will be reopening soon. They also serve as an event space and it seems well suited to that! The owner (at least that's who I think it was!) was there watering plants when we arrived, just on a mission to scope out garden centers and see what they had. The day we went I was a little shocked by the poor selection of plants and the state of the plants. They had some variety but it was hard to tell as they didn't seem super well organized (or at least just not well labeled). Then many plants looked just unhappy and there were quite a few pots of just soil, no currently living plant inside, mixed in with others. I'm still wondering if I just missed something, maybe what I thought were just weeds growing in some of the pots were actually the intended plant. I'm not really sure, and want to give them the benefit of the doubt! It just didn't look like what I expected from a garden center. We did however see some nice Camelia plants for sale and enjoyed seeing the animals. Their prices seem competitive with Lowe's or Home Depot garden centers, which was fine for the healthy plants but confusing for the not-so-healthy ones. We did visit early in the season (March) which could be a contributing factor but that time of year is also when many folks are trying to purchase and plan for their summer gardens and want to see a little more life in their prospective plant friends! Overall it seems like they are filling many needs in one stop and I admire that, and may make another visit to see how the plant situation compares then. I hate to be a critic but I did truly leave a little baffled by the other customer intensely browsing the what really did look like pots of weeds. And I've spent years working in ag and environmental sciences and greenhouses so Im not a total newbie to the ways of plants. I hope I just missed a memo!

I have every public golf course in Augusta, and The River Club is the best. Starting off with the…read moredriving range- it is right next to the first tee box and the grass is kept in good condition. When you play the course, the fairways are extremely pure and the greens are always in incredible shape. There are a few holes that are played right next to the river which provide a beautiful view and great area to slice a ball into ;). In fact, the entire course is beautiful. Walking up to the 9th green you have a nice view of the clubhouse and pond. The staff at the bar are friendly and make great conversation.

Great club! They organize and host the annual Head of the South, one of the largest regattas in the…read morenation. HOTS was well ran, with plenty of porter potties for both athletes and spectators. As for parking, I do recommend arriving early, since you may have to park far down on the grass. There was also a good amount of green space to set up a tent for our club and plenty of rowing and food vendors to browse and purchase from. A cool fact, the Savannah River they row on is Georgia on one side, where the club is located, and South Carolina on the opposite bank.

I went to check out this place with minimal rowing experience (aka Boy Scout camp and what I've…read moreseen on television). I was ready to be intimidated, but thankfully the exact opposite happened. It is off 5th Street, but you have to go back a little ways to get to the actual location. The building is deceiving in size, as you will find out soon enough. In the bottom are where the different sized row boats are stored. As a member, this is where you get to store your boat and oars. Then there is a gym and row machine. The gym area looks out over Savannah River, which is a beautiful view. The row machine is great for teaching one how to learn to row in sync (I soon learned I needed more practice in that area). You have a second floor where there is a dining area (available for rental by Club members) looking over the river and a balcony. The point person walked me through not only the location, but the overall experience rowing. It was also interesting to learn that the 1996 US Olympic Row Team trained here. My lack of knowledge in this area was not held against me and I hope to join in the new year. *Insider's Tip -If you are new to the world of rowing, go to a intro day. They do them once or twice a year and it is a great first step into this. -Also, once you pass a certain level of training you can come on your own whenever you want. That's any day and any time. I like that.
