The eggs are wonderful, delivery prompt, online store very accessible, and they conveniently partner with other local farms to provide veggies + fruit in addition to their sustainable meats (most CSAs will only provide one or the other). We came across Tara Firma initially via online / yelp searches shortly after moving to the Bay Area in 2016. When my husband and I initially started looking into vegetarianism for animal welfare reasons, I suggested we visit a farm that employs best practices of ethically and sustainably raised meat to help inform our decision. Tara Firma offers free educational tours every weekend and so we drove up one day with our 2 dogs (leashed dogs welcome!) and another family with their 3 (non furry) children for a fun Petaluma outing. The tour was informative and our guide was clearly super passionate about their mission. The farm was very beautiful and the lands idyllic -- we loved the fact that the cows were so free range that we could just barely make them out as a tiny dot in the distant hills. We all enjoyed observing the chicken dynamics around their mobile coop with their rooster guard, and they showed us how unperturbed the hens were when removing the eggs from the nest-- evening letting the children carefully take a couple out. Ultimately, we decided to pursue a vegetarian diet (especially after my husband met the pigs there), but we joined the CSA for their eggs and veggie share + cheeses (sourced from partner farms). We also have purchased meat occasionally for visiting carnivore families and friends, as we wanted to ensure if they were going to eat meat -- they were getting it from a farm like Tara Firma that does it in the right way. The best part of the CSA was their pet share as we realized buying offal from this farm would be a great compromise for our dogs (who were rebelling against our plant-based diet experiment) as we just wanted to provide our dogs protein with leftovers / byproduct without creating additional demand on the meat industry. Our pet share included amazing proteins like heart, tongue, cheeks, as well as more indulgent items like liver and kidney. Even the trotters and bones I would use to make broth in order to flavor / disguise our dogs' vegetarian kibble haha :) We also occasionally received some freezer burn meats, which cannot be sold for human consumption but safe (and very drool-worthy) for our dogs! Unfortunately, the pet share program has been discontinued but there are still plenty of diverse offal options in the farm store! Overall, a great local farm to support and highly recommend a visit!

We just came back from a 2 night stay at Stanly Ranch and I was compelled to write a review this…read moretime because the service is a lot better than our 2 previous stays. Our first visit was in 2023 when they had just opened less than a year. We stayed in an Arbor Cottage, which was the standalone cottage with a super spacious and luxurious bathroom and outdoor shower. Second stay was in 2025 in which we stayed in the Rambler, which also had a spacious bathrooms and outdoor shower and back patio. Downside was that our room was located all the way at the top of the hill by the employee parking, making it a trek to and from the pool. Our most recent stay was in a Acre room, which I think was the best for our family. It was quite spacious with living area but the bathroom was much smaller than the Arbor and Rambler, with no outdoor shower. But in all honesty, it was perfect because my boys cared more about the swimming pool than anything else. During this last visit, we were immediately greeted by Tom, and Isiah helped with our checkin. They were incredibly attentive and helpful. Our previous visits did not have such a warm checkin experience. I also appreciate that they put us in a room closer to the pool. There really is no reason to leave the ranch once you're checked in. The food onsite is incredible, but pricey (it's nominal considering you're already paying a lot to stay though). I will admit they used to have a great deal where kids eat free, and I wish they brought that back. And a must try is the lavender morning bun from Gavel! It's perfectly flaky, smooth, sweetened just right with the lavender sugar that isn't overwhelming. I wish I had bought more to bring home! Overall this is a wonderful resort worth the splurge, especially for families even if it doesn't seem like it at a first glance. They have a shallow kiddy pool as well, and lots of activities for kids on site. There's also breathtaking views from the adults only pool at Halehouse and from Infinity Hill. Totally recommend the splurge if you can!

It is wise to step outside your environment and, in the case of this current venture, go visit an Alpaca farm. The Menagerie Hill ranch has beautiful animals. The host was awesome and knowledgeable. We increased our knowledge of the animals and of the farm but also got to feed them. We also had the opportunities to get close and personal with them for pictures. They were all friendly and fluffy. I recommend this unique experience for all because if you do not just break your usual pattern to stop and smell the roses or to pet and feed an Alpaca, life will pass by before you know it. Put your life on pause just for a few hours and go see the Alpacas. They would like to share peace with you. You can find them at the Menagerie Hill Ranch

We stayed in touch over the next several weeks before settling on an August date. We braved the high temps and winding roads to arrive at the ranch. It's a beautiful space on a hillside and you can see the herd and their guardian llama as you pull into the parking lot. We learned a lot about the alpaca life cycle, fed the boys, and my daughter got to hold and carry a cria. We bought two cute alpaca shaped soaps. I didn't experience any of the negativity others have complained about. It is a working ranch so it's not a petting zoo or a tourist attraction. Go with the flow and you'll have a great experience.

From start to finish, she was incredibly detail-oriented and thoughtful, always coming to the table with smart suggestions that elevated the evening and made the guest experience so much more special. Communication with Janice was a dream--she is responsive, organized, and on top of every detail. All the vendors worked together seamlessly, which speaks volumes about both her planning skills and her professionalism. Janice is also extremely well-connected and has relationships with the most talented vendors--musicians, cake designers, calligraphers, florists, and more. She curated a team that worked beautifully together and truly brought the event to life. Above all, Janice is incredibly thoughtful--she thinks of everything and goes out of her way to help in any way possible. One of the things I also appreciated most was how budget-conscious Janice was--she focused on getting true value and never suggested spending money where it didn't make sense. That gave me a lot of confidence in every decision we made together. Thanks to her, we had an unforgettable celebration that felt effortless for us as hosts. If you are looking for someone who will treat your event as if it were her own, and who has the talent, connections, and dedication to deliver an extraordinary experience, Janice is the one. Unlike other month-of coordinators who won't talk to you until a month before, Rue 29 made sure to set us up for success from the beginning. As soon as we signed our contract Janice shared her list of preferred vendors and introduced us to everyone we needed to know. She seems to know everyone in Napa! She was then so helpful with any questions we had while we were booking vendors and coordinating with them over the intervening months. By the time we got to a month out from the wedding everything was pretty much already set! Janice was so incredibly helpful, super responsive, detail oriented, and extremely professional. When the wedding day came our day went off without a hitch! We were completely relaxed all day because of the trust that Janice had already built-we knew she would move whatever mountain needed to be moved to make the day perfect. During the day she was the perfect amount of attentive to verify a few last details with us but mostly left us to just enjoy the day while she took care of everything else. She was also so attentive to our families during the day, always making sure they had food and drink and everything they needed, which was such a sweet level of service and care. If you want a coordinator who truly supports you through the wedding planning process and will make you feel completely at ease on your wedding day then hire Rue 29!

What I got for $14 was two slices of very dry bread, a stack of thin turkey slices, two curled pieces of mild cheddar cheese (on a turkey sandwich?), a single limp leaf of lettuce and a packet of yellow mustard (Heinz) and mayo. No tomato, no seasoning, no balance of flavors. Just dry bread, turkey, and cheese that doesn't even belong on this type of sandwich. The wrap didn't list ingredients and the deli counter was closed, so there was no way to ask questions or customize anything. I ended up stuck with a premade option that felt like something from a hospital cafeteria rather than a market in the Napa Valley. The bread could have saved it, but even that was just a bland sweet roll with no texture or character. For $13+ they could at least use a decent bread from one of the many local bakeries. As a local, it's disappointing because visitors assume places in Yountville will reflect the food reputation of the area. Unfortunately this didn't come close. I've seen similar feedback in other reviews for the deli, and after this experience I understand why. The sad part is those reviews date back for years and they have obviously fallen on deaf ears. Vote with your dollars folks. If you're heading up valley and want a good sandwich, you're honestly better off stopping at Genova in Napa on the way or continuing just a few minutes up the road to Oakville Grocery. If you only need a quick bottle of wine this is a place for you. I rarely say this, but this was a "never again" for me.
