During our stay in Yountville for our Napa Valley wine trek last year, we discovered Ranch Market that had some great options for alcohol and sparkling waters for us to take home prior to the 9 pm shutdown for most of the towns restaurants. The decor looked like most local mini-marts and markets outside of the typical chains that are still stuck in the 1970s and 80s: off-white and beige walls, red linoleum floors, knickknacks and tshirts for sale, a deli for ordering sandwiches during the day, fresh fruit and cheeses (and French loaves), other essential grocery and pharmaceutical and some household items, and cold and room temperature beverages, including wine, beer, and booze. I was impressed they had a liquor license to sell liquor such as whiskey. The store assistants were friendly and funny who said, "you definitely need water if you have been drinking wine all day." To which I responded, "yup, doing it all again tomorrow."

The market is a solid 3 or 4 but I wish I could give zero or negative stars for the restaurant side inside of ranch market 2 in yount. tried giving this place so many chances, but they consistently serve out garbage. It's Yountville so it's overpriced, but the least they can do is serve fresh food they don't even care. I've gotten sick eating their salads in 2021. Sick eating their sandwiches. I gave the daily pizza try today and it was trash. Like it was made two days ago reheated. Cheese was slimy. Sauce out of a can.. they gave my wife some attitude about using the bathroom a few months ago. There separately operated from the ranch market, different owners i was told. They're usually in a bad mood. It's a tourist trap, so they just push garbage out. I really wanted to like this place. Avoid

First of all the Ranch Market Two staff are awesome and very polite. Great staff. However I decided to give this review after 4 years of coming here. The sandwiches here used to be good and worth the money. In recent weeks the quantity of meat provided and overall quality of the sandwiches had declined massively. As you can see from the pictures Teo pcs of pastrami was give for a 14 dollar sandwich. The bread is good and the condiments are fresh and is why I gave two stars. If your coming to yountville you expect good quality and portions if your paying top dollar. This is not the case here, I highly suggest going down the road the the Kelly's Filling Station ot just go to the golf course Lakeside Grill. Much more worth your dollar.

    silly stuff they sell here

Ranch Market is convenient and almost always has what I need in a pinch. It is expensive, but I am grateful to have it nearby!

Great little market in Yountville! We snuck out of our fancy hotel and grabbed some ice cream points for dessert! Expensive, but worth it!

There's an open kitchen with a lot of space but still has a mixture of upscale and casual interior vibes. This restaurant was one of the only places I found in the area to have reservations for a party of 10 online without needing to call or do a pre-fixe menu. We got here right at our reservation time and were seated at a long table. What I liked were the tagliarini bolognese al centro ($32) and the wagyu polpette ($25). The calamari ($25) was decent and the patatine fritte e tartufo ($16) had big portions but could've used a little salt. The carbonara ($30) was cooked al dente and while we took the suggestion from the server we would've preferred a bit softer. It was a solid and reliable dinner spot that is good for celebratory meals.

Unfortunately, our experience on Memorial Day weekend was anything but. From the moment we arrived, the hostess set a tone that was unwelcoming and, frankly, rude. Rather than graciously managing what was clearly a staffing challenge, she repeatedly reminded us -- as if it were our problem to carry -- that they only had one server on the floor. On a Sunday of Memorial Day weekend. One of the busiest hospitality weekends of the year. I understand staffing is difficult in the industry. What I don't understand is how a restaurant at this price point, in this location, can justify charging premium prices, expecting 20%+ gratuity, and then making guests feel like an inconvenience for showing up. That is a management failure, not a guest failure. A great front-of-house professional absorbs operational stress and protects the guest experience. What we received was the opposite -- we were made to feel like a burden before we even sat down. This review has also been sent to corporate leadership. Guests deserve better, especially at these prices.

But it is a VERY close second. This might be my shortest review because how could I possibly do justice to all 13 courses - each just as flavorfully complex, innovative, and beautiful as the next? Suffice it to say that Chef Keller is the GOAT and each course was a masterpiece. Special shout out to the "oysters and pearls" which was the star of the show in my humble opinion. So delicate and yet so rich and buttery. Some would say that an experience like this is once in a lifetime... but sometimes these once in a lifetime experiences are so good that they deserve a second time... or a third... keeping my fingers crossed that I can enjoy French Laundry again. The dessert course was particularly impressive and decadent. They also packed a mean take-home bag with many dessert treats for later. Their pastry chef is killing it! 4 stars instead of 5, because I expect a little more wow factor from a 3-Star Michelin restaurant, having been to many that knocked my socks off. The food here is a bit traditional and mainstream now (though I understand it was avant garde back in the 1990s). I felt that they're just coasting on this historic reputation. An example was the oyster and pearls, a signature dish. This was a divisive dish - half of our table liked it (tastes like boba!), and half hated it (including me!). I was expecting at least a whole oyster but maybe each person only got 1/4 of a small one chopped up into little pieces.

What caught my eye was their Taco Tuesday specials and today just happens to be Tuesday! We came in early evening, just before the dinner rush and apparently this is a very popular local bar and grill. Most of their customers were regulars, I could tell. It felt warm and comfortable inside and it had a very community feel in there. I was observing how the server conversed with every customer and she was so kind and attentive. She was very helpful to me in suggesting some of their popular menu items. We got the fish tacos, the shrimp tacos, the lamb sliders, Brussels sprouts, grilled tri-tip, the flautas and the empanadas. I would say my personal favorites were the grilled tri-tip, the Brussels sprouts and the empanadas. The Brussels sprouts were lightly crispy and chewy but absorbed all the roasted shallot vinaigrette, so it was a nice umami bite every time. The tri-tip was cooked like I like it (I don't like my beef bloody, sorry, not sorry). It was so flavorful thanks to the black truffle compound butter! Omg! It was delicious! The empanadas were lightly crispy and came with a really good chipotle crema sauce and I was dipping my empanada in that sauce because it really complemented the chicken tinga filling and crispy cornmeal crust. My oldest son loved the fish tacos. They were so crispy and loaded. My youngest son loved the lamb sliders. They were tasty and had a slight smokiness but the rosemary aioli brought it all together for me. It was such a nice touch. Overall, based on the outstanding service we received and the delicious food, I would highly recommend this place if you're in Napa. We live in the East Bay, but whenever I come to Napa, I will remember to stop here to get some good eats! The staff was also friendly and super sweet!

It's not the most spacious restaurant, but they do cram a lot of seats in the space they do have. Most of the seating is inside, but they have a decent amount of tables out in front. The parking lot is small, so I had to park a few blocks away and walk. I'd heard this was a favorite among the locals, so I was excited to try it, but unfortunately, it just wasn't great. Not terrible, but not really all that good either. and the price (for the quality of food) really makes this a one-and-done place for me. - Mezze Rigatoni (pork belly, chard, prosciutto): this pasta came with some sort of butter sauce. the combination of the minced pork belly and prosciutto made for a salt bomb. I couldn't really taste much else, and I love salt... but this was just... too... much... - Spaghetti (chicken skin, lovage): I guess I had made a bad assumption in thinking this would be dressed with tomato sauce. nope. it had the same exact sauce as the rigatoni. it would've been fantastic if our waitress would've mentioned this when ordering. I was excited for this bc I love me some crispy chicken skin, and crispy it was. unfortunately, it was also much too salty. not quite as salty as the rigatoni, but still very much so out of balance. - Pepperoni (mozzarella, hot honey, basil): I was actually a little afraid of ordering this at first bc I had seen some comments mentioning how this place does not really accommodate requests for changes to their dishes, and I wanted the hot honey served on the side. thankfully, they happily obliged my request without any grief. The pizza was pretty good. Unfortunately, my palate was still suffering from the salt of the prior dishes, so the saltiness of the pepperoni was not great. But even so, I appreciated the pizza for what it was. As anticipated, I preferred eating it without the hot honey; though, I did take a few bites with it drizzled on. The crust had a nice char to it. I wish there was a bit more sauce on it though as it ate a little dry. would I pay $32 + tax + tip to eat this again even if I didn't have to deal with reservations or wait times, etc? nope. it wasn't that good. I would've actually been happier eating a Round Table pizza.
