I took my car here to have a fog light replaced. I bought the light required & brought it with me. They supposedly did the service. I was in a hurry, I did not check their work. A few days later, I looked and the detailing/body kit of my car, where they needed to pull to replace the light, isn't even installed back properly & could have easily lost these expensive pieces. I brought my car in for another service of a different type the same day I noticed, to another shop in Ukiah. I asked if they could look at it and pop it back into place for me. I was worried I'd loose my body kit, and that the light wasn't in correctly. They explained to me that it wasn't installed properly & that my wires were hanging/dragging & exposed, causing me to have to replace that due to Gordon's not installing the replacement bulb correctly. Wow we don't even live here but needed a little bit of work done on our Prius!! Had a weard sound every time we would speed up they found a rock in our skid plate soooo nice !!! They looked at everything we needed to get our 114000 mile Prius running good !! Did not want us to fix anything that wasn't necessary we got out for a little over 200 bucks !! We got stranded due to my car breaking down on a vacation in the Mendocino area. Luckily we were referred to this place to from a few people. The mechanics were very friendly and knowledgeable and were able to diagnose the problem and fix it quickly. On top of that the price was very good for what was done. If your on vacation and something happens in this area, do yourself a favor and call these guys. The owner Fernando even gave me a ride to and from my hotel, which was really awesome! I got my car lubed and oiled very quickly. I also got a bunch of finger prints all over the hood and door area. My car is white so they really show up. I thought they would disappear when I washed it a few days after the work. They didn't. I finally got some graffiti remover to get them off. read more

Can't say enough good things about this place. We were on a family vacation, my husband and I, our three children (all of whom are 3 and younger) and our two dogs. I noticed a nail in our family vehicle so we stopped by without an appointment hoping for a repair job. After inspecting the tire we were told they would squeeze us in. We took the family for a walk, stopped for coffee and cookies nearby and then returned to the shop. To our surprise we were told that they took the screw out, that it hadn't punctured the tire at all! They adjusted the pressure in all of our tires, used bubbles to confirm there was no leak and best of all....no charge! These guys are honest professionals. If you want someone trust worthy to look at your car this is the place. read more

I brought my car to Gordon's Auto Service to get an oil change. Soon thereafter a noise started occurring when I went over a bump and I brought my car back to Gordon's. They proceeded to do approximately three thousand dollars worth of repairs and still the noise didn't go away. At this point I was told to bring it back in when I could be without the car and they would tinker with it more to solve the problem. What a waste of time AND money. In the future I will not be using Gordon's Auto Service! read more

I was traveling through the area towing a fifth wheel when I thought something might be wrong with my truck breaks. Being I was not from the area I went to Gordon's due to its great service reviews. I was there at 8am the next morning, hoping they could check out my brakes, without an appointment. They stopped what were doing and inspected my breaks and they were fine. I was out of there in no less than a half hour. This is a great service shop and I highly recommend it. read more

My family was on a road trip (three two yr olds, one four year old, three adults and a dog) and our RV broke down. No one else in town could help and we showed up at Gordon's Automotive where Fernando and Pedro worked on our motor home immediately, continuing after hours so we could get home to Portland for my daughter's birthday party. He rang to check on us the following day. They were friendly, honest and understanding. Would recommend To anyone. I just moved to the Mendocino coast and my brakes started to give me problems. I called a brake repair shop in Fort Bragg and they told me they couldn't even look at the problem for two weeks! I started reading Yelp reviews and found Gordon's to be highly rated and called. Not only were they able to get me in for an appointment later that day, but as I drove in the repairman said, "Heard you coming...brake problems?" They didn't try to sell me anything I didn't want or need, but resurfaced the rotors and changed out the brakes for a very reasonable price. I definitely will call them again when my car needs work. Ripped us off. We had troubles with our alternator and had our car towed here. Knowing that we had no other choice but to get it fixed there, we were vulnerably charged $500 for the job. Our car was a ford, being in North America it's not expensive for replacement parts. A few hundred miles down the road in Santa Barbara what do you know the alternator failed again so we saw another mechanic there who was disgusted as to how much we had been over charged. He showed us how much it should have cost (The part costs a mechanic $160 from an auto parts store) funny how you told us you weren't really making any money from the part. I guess your labour cost is really high? You're a disgrace of an mechanic and karma will catch up with you. If you're going to overcharge people at least actually do the job and fix what's wrong. Travellers beware not a place you can trust. read more

I had really bad tires that needed replacement. I didn't mind waiting unlike at other shops I have been to. Nice and friendly and the guys in the shop were awesome. Also, Jason in the office; was helpful and very nice to chat and hang out with and made the waiting worthwhile with friendly conversation and car tips. And thanks for being pup friendly! I had to do a 4 hour drive right after the tires were put on... Very smooth ride and when I let go of the steering wheel, the alignment was all good. Woo hoo! read more

We were from out of town and needed to get our water pump fixed and had only 2 days before we had to leave. Gordon's replaced it and got us on the road again. It did cost almost $500 but my husband who sometimes works on our car said it's a 3-4 hour job ( he had replaced it a few years before) and was very comfortable with the price. They even gave us some advice over the phone (text messages) after the shop was closed the next day because my husband thought a bearing might be going out on the alternator and they recommended to going Santa Rosa and having it fixed there if it was bad but they were right- nothing was wrong and we made it back to LA with no problems. The shop was clean, well organized and employees pleasant. We highly recommend Gordon's. read more

Gordon's Auto Service absolutely saved our trip. My husband and I visited Mendocino last week with our son and his family (luckily in two cars), and one of the cars developed a scary clunking sound on our way up from the Bay Area. I emailed local friends for a recommendation and then checked Yelp. Gordon's sounded like a winner, and our friends confirmed the recommendation. Since our time was limited, we drove the car to Gordon's first thing the next morning, without an appointment. Everyone there was extremely friendly, and they quickly diagnosed the problem. The necessary part was scheduled to be delivered the next morning. As promised, once the part was delivered, our car was quickly repaired. Best of all, the cost was extremely reasonable. You can't imagine (or maybe you can) what a relief it was to have what could have been an expensive nightmare in less honest and reliable hands turn into nothing more than an inconvenience. read more

Last weekend my starter gave out on our camping trip on the Mendocino Coast. The ranger recommended Gordon's Auto Service as honest, well-priced and trustworthy, and he was correct! It was a Friday and the part couldn't be delivered until the next day. They offered to come in on Saturday AM when they are normally closed, meet the delivery truck and do the work. They also dropped us off and picked us up from the campground 10 miles down the road. Fernando, the owner and Sly the manager both stayed true to their word. The said they would be ready by 10 AM on Saturday and sure enough, at 10 Am Sly pulled up to our camping spot to get me. For the price, the labor costs were very reasonable, and much less than I imagined. These guys really went the extra mile with some honest customer service you rarely see these days.
