We were on vacation when my check engine light came on. We pulled in and Antonio the mechanic greeted us right away. When I told him the problem he went and got his device, plugged it in and quickly diagnosed the problem as a dirty catalytic converter. He said we could go and chance it but if we waited 10 minutes he would pour a cleaner in the gas tank and fix it. We took a short walk and he had it ready to go when we got back. My husband and I have had our cars serviced at Hare Creek Automotive, and have bought cars as well, for over twenty years. However, becase of a recent experience with this establishment, I will never go back again. Without my knowledge, one of Mr. Messier's mechanics rotated the tires on my Dodge van, and because the mechanic was having a busy day, "could not remember having tightened or loosened the lug bolts." It was later discovered that three of these lug bolts were missing and the other two loose. The van was taken to Wheel Works and I was told by the mechanic doing the inspection that because of this irresponsible oversight that "I was lucky to be alive." I have been ignored by Mr. Messier regarding any responsibility for his mechanic's negligence. I would not recommend Hare Creek Automotive to anyone! Debbie Turnbull read more

The wonderful people at Hare Creek met us at the door, diagnosed the problem right away, and fixed the issue within the hour. I would give them 6 stars if possible. It's hard when something scary happens when you are out of town and things feel out of your control, but the wonderful crew at Hare Creek made us feel at home and comfortable right away. I am a cheap and a been around the block a few times kind of gal and I've never had a bad experience here. Honest and no BS. Had a very annoying long time electrical problem fixed at Hare Creek Auto today and they did a GREAT job at a very reasonable price. My feeling of a good job well done was confirmed by the mechanic in the family. The owners and their top-notch mechanic make feel safe and confident going here knowing I won't be ripped off. 5 months in and no title, a Hare Creek Experience. On Oct 27, 2017 I purchased a 2012 Ford Transit Connect van from Hare Creek Auto for about 13k out the door. The vehicle was a little over priced but I wanted to buy locally and not spend days looking at worn out rigs inland or chance something on Craigslist. The van had 53,000 miles on it and the body had some minor scratches and one small ding. I decided I could live with that and negotiated paint touch up and detail in the purchase agreement with Dave the salesman. I left the van there for several days after purchase so that the items could be dealt with.They called telling me to pick the van up and come back on a sunny day after the factory touch up paint came in. About 10 days after the purchase I noticed that the rear brakes had a grinding sound when backing up to a stop and the same noise occasionally when going forward. I called Hare Creek and they told me to drop the van off for Rick, the owner to look at. I drove down on a rainy day and left the van. I got a call that afternoon to come and pick it up. I arrived to see that the detail person had just washed the van and was applying the touch up paint. Although the van was under a canvas awning, the weather was cold damp and drizzly. While the detail person was brushing on paint in the rain I went over to ask Rick what he had found out with regards to the rear brakes. He told me that the drums had a groove worn in them from the pads which created a lip on the inside which was causing the grinding noise. He also said that he ground the lip off and there shouldn't be any more noise. I asked if he had replaced the pads since they had been wearing on the sides due to the groove. He said no and that the current pads had about 50% life left. There was no indication that he had checked the wall thickness of the drums. Remember, I just paid 13k for this van. Full price, no negotiating with the exception of detailing and paint touch up. About 20 days after the purchase I had occasion to remove the spare tire to install a receiver to be able to use my utility trailer. I opened the jack compartment to get the tool to lower the spare tire. It was empty. No jack, no handle, no tools. Around the same time I noticed that my tire pressure light was staying on. I made sure of the tire pressure on several occasions the light wouldn't go out. I dropped by Hare Creek to let them know about the jack and the tire pressure light. The service person searched throughout the van including under the seats and concluded what I had, that there wasn't a jack or handle and said he would order one. He hooked up a code checker to the van to find out what was up with the tire pressure light and told me that since the code wasn't registering on the reader he couldn't do anything so he turned the problem back over to me. A month after reporting the missing jack and handle I dropped by and asked Rick where it was as I hadn't received a call. He said he didn't know anything about it but would check into it and order one if he needed to. A week later I got a call that the jack had arrived so I went and picked it up. Around the first part of January I was getting concerned that my title and registration hadn't shown up. I called Hare Creek and talked to Ana about it. She told me that the bank that had held the lien on the vehicle hadn't signed off on it and that had caused the delay but everything was cleared up and I should be getting the title within two weeks. I expressed my concerns that she hadn't let me know about this previously and assumed that the title would be forthcoming. Around the first part of February, after not receiving the title and hearing nothing from Hare Creek about the situation I stopped by Hare Creek and asked Ana what was going on. I was a bit pointed in my tone but I believe I was polite enough under the circumstances. She indicated that it would be no more than another two weeks as DMV was backed up. Around the first part of March, after still not receiving the title and registration, I dropped by Hare Creek again. Again I was pointed in my request and again I was assured that would be no more than two weeks. About a week ago, since I wasn't getting the desired results via phone or personal visits, I decided to send them a message via their website. I basically stated that I was a bit angry and frustrated with them and needed this title and registration situation resolved. There was no response. Today, I was riding my bicycle into town as I sometimes do and pass directly by Hare Creek Auto, I decided to stop and see what was up with the title. I pulled in front of the office. Both Dave and Rick were out front. Rick was working on a customers windshield wiper and Dave walked up to me and asked how I was doing. I replied that I wasn't doing that great as my title was still missing. I bought a 93' 4Runner a few months back and naturally problems came with it. Most were miner problems, however it had shifting problem's... after a few trips to the transmission shops with no issues found. I started calling around to random shops here in town. Most of the personal at the others that I held conversations with did not pan out as I am a woman and it felt as if they all were kind of toying with me, in a weird way which made me not want them working on my "baby"..... a few weeks before actually making an appointment with them. I called them and found that they were very sincere and friendly. So I decided to put my "baby" in their hands. I very glad that I did too as it was the best auto repair shop experience that I have ever had. They took her in looked her over and begun to pin point the problem, keeping me informed for the whole 4 days that she was with them. They told me what they have tried and what the next step was going to be. After tearing into her transmission they had located her problem and fixed it! Now, she runs and idles like a dream... I could not ask for any better!!! They are also very reasonable as my husband was expecting it too cost alot more then what I had paid... I am so thankful to have her back to her old self again... Right before 9 am on Monday, January 2nd, we had just started our 4+ hour drive home from Fort Bragg. Our car started misfiring. We managed to get the car to Hare Creek. It died in the parking lot. Luckily, we noticed that the garage doors were open and had hopes that someone could help us. We were greeted by a couple of gentleman, and told them our problem. One of them agreed to look at our car. I didn't catch his name, but we are so thankful for his service. I know that the only reason he was in that day was to work on his own car, and I don't think the service area was even open for business. I bought a bmw here 5 years ago, the car turned out to be a lemon. I bought the 2001 bmw for 9000 cash. The car had a pant job that started chipping off 1 month after I got the car. I told them about this and I was told sorry not our problem, multiple things went wrong with the car after that. When I finally sold the car after 5 years of having it I probably spent about 20,000 before I sold it for 2,200 best offer I could get. The car was ready to fall apart!
