For a food hall experience I expected a little bit more, experience was on par with a food truck meal. Sandwiches are serviced on Hawaiian rolls which don't hold up well to the weight and moisture of the chicken and all of the toppings. This makes the sandwiches harder to eat than they should be. The highlight was the chicken was cooked perfectly. It was juicy and the breading was consistent. Flavor however was lacking a bit, not talking just heat, but flavor. Sides wise the fries were decent, I'd skip the Mac and Cheese as the pasta was mushy and the sauce lacked flavor. Decent spot in a pinch, but there's better spots for hot chicken IMO. Both for takeout and dine in they don't miss even if they are 20 orders in from getting your food out. The presentation is always well portioned and clean even with all the sauce. We thought the chicken (medium spice) was pretty good, but there too much sauce over everything. Slaw was good, fries and mac good also. But not temperature hot. Honestly, the food trucks service and food is really good. The portions are amazing and the food is always warm and seasoned to perfection. Unfortunately I decided to try the Annex location at The Collection and it was awful. The staff wasn't the best and neither were the cooks. My food was cold when it came out, mind you it took like 5 mins to get my food out which could only mean that they just have the food laying out there unlike the food trucks which cook it fresh. The portions were also mediocre. It was half empty with a couple scraps of chicken. They should hire people who actually care about the customers and respect the food they're preparing. If you want the real experience I highly recommend to go to one of the food trucks where the guys actually take care of you and have your order ready and to perfection!! read more

Heard a lot about this place & they finally opened a location at the collection so decided to try some items from their menu. Food came out pretty quick. I ordered the mac n cheese & fried pickles. Mac n cheese was okay looks better in pictures, noodles were cooked a little too much so it was a little soggy. This place has to be probably the best hot chicken in Ventura county and the best part? It's on wheels I frequent Gordos when I'm in the mood for chicken and all I can say is this place never misses. Their chicken is always juicy and seasoned just right. Their sandwiches are crafted perfectly with a twist by using kings Hawaiian roll instead of a regular Brioche bun like traditional hot chicken. The sweet and savory, spicy mess creates a flavor bomb in your mouth. Paired with a cajun seasoned Mac and cheese and saucy slaw it's really unbeaten for a great price. The service is always top notch and simple with an easy to read menu. My only issue is they're at the very end of channel island blvd, (I wish it was a little closer to the river park area) so just be ready for a drive. Mine was incorrect so we asked for a new one, but no one asked what spice level I had ordered was. When I sat back down my husband who ordered the hottest said his had absolutely no spice. Took a bite of mine also very plain no spicy. Bummed right there tried dipping into the sauce, and it was all just so sweet. The sauce was sweet, then the chicken is on Hawaiian sweet bread which adds to the sweetness and then a sweet pineapple slaw. We also tried 3 sides. Fries, fried pickers and mac n cheese. Fries were under cooked and had no seasoning. Fried pickles were actually cooked perfectly and tasted good, Mac n cheese was HUGE let down. Just all around disappointed. I ordered a side of fries well done, they were soggy And tbh the fries were kinda undercooked .Then I got the Combo #1 and wow super soggy not even warm what's so ever. The buns were extremely burnt and cold I had to pick some of the burnt parts off to enjoy it , The Mac and cheese was cold. I paid for extra ranch and extra sauce didn't get it. I legit had no dipping sauce for none of my meal. I heard they give you honey for the sliders , didn't get that either. This place really was disappointing. I would love to give it another try but tbh don't think I will nor will I recommend this place to anyone. For a side of fries and combo #1 and the extra sauces that I didn't get I paid $26. My go to combo is the 3 Finger Combo and since that isn't enough for me I add an extra tender to make it a 4 Finger. The price is amazing 21$ not shabby at all for 4 Large Tenders and my sides of choice which would be the Fries and the Coleslaw. Visiting the area and have wanted to try Gordo's for a while. Finally had it yesterday and was not disappointed. The amount and quality of food is awesome; everyone loved it. We wanted to get t-shirts before heading back to Kansas City but the food court location was short on sizes. Someone from one of the trucks DROVE OVER the size we needed in the cool Aztec design and then the sweet girl working at the food court location BROUGHT the additional t-shirt we bought out to our car.
