I got a very good day of skiing at Gore Mountain; I have not skied Gore before so it is always nice to explore a new mountain. Getting from my hotel in Lake George to Gore was easy enough. At Gore I ended up parking in one of the more distant parking lots, but a shuttle was right there to deliver me to the base area. A short walk to the lodge where you can settle in and get geared up. There are baskets to store your bag and the lifts are nearby. A bit of a delay at the start of the day as they were still getting the trails and lifts ready. Then there was a single lift running for about 1 hour so the lines were fairly long; when they finally got the gondola and the upper lifts running the lines disappeared and the day became much more enjoyable. Gore has a bunch of different areas, I got through most of them, although I did not get to try the Burnt Ridge and North Creek areas, but did find plenty of nice runs. I spent the day on Blue and groomed Black runs and had a great time. Overall I enjoyed my day skiing at Gore Mountain, if you are in the area it is a good place to ski, probably not worth a long trip to ski, but certainly worth a visit. Gore and Whiteface use the same RIF card so if you have one it is well worth getting a day at each of them. read more

I unfortunately didn't have the greatest experience Gore could offer due to external factors none to Gore's fault. I definitely want to come back again and redeem my time here because I'm not a quitter. My boyfriend and I had come up to Gore on Friday the 13th in December 2024 no less. So maybe that's where all my bad luck came from ? PARKING There's a ton of parking, but coming later in the day results in parking far. It's quite a walk to the main lodge and kiosk when you do. Parking is free! PRICE I can't talk about price because my boyfriend works in the industry and got our tickets through his line of work. SNOW CONDITIONS Packed base, icy, mind your tailbone. I would highly recommend starting on some easy greens just to get the feel of the conditions. I've only been snowboarding for 2 years, but have had over 150 hours on snow already and 45ish days. But at the start of the season, everything is new ish again. My boyfriend is an experienced rider. Riding for over 10 years, way more days and hours than I have, and had his start in Colorado. I asked for greens just to warm up, while I do ride on blues, I was riding on a new board and it didn't end well for me. Failing to plan is planning to fail after all. I wish I got a trail map at the beginning, and they should be widely more available to find. Not everyone has great cell service in the mountains. While at the top, near Saddle Lodge, it starts off green, at the beginning of the season there's not many runs open and soon I found myself on a blue on a very playful and new board. It threw me in for a loop since my last board was VERY stiff. The complete opposite! During my second lap of the day I fell wrong and whatever was in my kangaroo pocket jabbed my rib. I couldn't get down on my own due to the pain and nausea and ski patrol had to bring the toboggan. I hated it. I hated having to cut it so short! Gore was a dream mountain of mine and I didn't get to experience it fully. My expectations for myself became defeated. Swallowing that pill was hard. I will be back towards the end of the season to reclaim my experience. After I have more practice on my new board. I just bought another one, which is in between both the stiff and very playful board. SKI PATROL I want to thank Zac for staying by me and my boyfriend while I tried to get myself down. I really didn't want to quit. I'm not a quitter but my boyfriend did say, "it's better to quit now and ride another day than make it worse and be out all season." After thinking about it and how dizzy and nauseous I was I gave in. Just knowing I had the support was reassuring. Zac was also very calm and reassuring. Once I made up my mind to that I couldn't go further on my own, he brought me down with the toboggan. I never rode on a sled before in my life, and it was fun, but let's definitely not make it a habit! It's been almost a month now and my ribs are 99% better. It was an intercostal muscle strain. It hurt like hell for a week and a half, but I rode again at a smaller mountain the next day because we didn't want to end the trip early. I had better runs, no falls, despite the insane amount of pain. GIFT SHOP I had a very lovely chat with the lady who works in the gift shop. I bought many Gore Stickers for my scrapbook! She and I bonded over our love of scrapbooks, and I know that's not something snowboarders regularly do. Mainly stickers go on helmets and boards, but I love them on & in my scrapbook. Pricing is definitely a little more than average. But the stickers are amazing quality so worth it! They also sell just about anything you would need in the shop at the base area lodge. We bought one of those screwdriver sets. OVERALL I highly recommend saving the PDF version of the trail map to your phone for easy access ahead of time before you go anywhere near the mountain. The views are out of this world!! Gore is definitely a place to ride and check out and I will be back with a better updated review! read more

The mountain is fricken awesome, lots of trails and lifts, including a warm gondola to keep your toes on between runs! Popular enough for me to see random friends unplanned. The personnel in the lodge at times could be unhelpful, not explaining the soup special well in the mess hall and sending you to the wrong line when trying to get rentals, which is frustrating but hey, not surprising. The highlight of our trip was when I thought I had lost my wallet in the shuttle, and the drivers coordinated so that I could search some of the shuttles. I ended up finding it! Tip these boys, they are awesome and make the trek to and from the parking lot easy :) read more

We came here towards the end of the season and sadly didn't have a great experience. I know this is the luck of the draw with an outdoor seasonal sport that depends on conditions but the way it was handled wasn't great. We pre bought tickets for the date we were available and in town. It happened to rain and be a little windy the morning we went and apparently the top of the mountain iced over, during the night. The gondola and most of the park were therefore closed. 2 lifts were running and only about 6-8 trails were available to use. The conditions of the mountain were not updated to reflect this and the fliers at the ticket kiosks were not updated to reflect this either :( We drove 1.5 hours each way to get there. It would have been nice to have known this before we arrived. Tickets were purchased in advance online. Touch less kiosks dispensed your pass and all lift entrances were gated. Staff were all wearing masks and enforced guests to do the same. The lodges we saw were older but had everything you needed. Vented tents were available in the parking lot to provide extra space for getting ready or eating. I wouldn't say this would prevent me from coming back again. I have heard great things about this mountain. However I hope the staff does a better job communicating what is going on to the public. read more

Had an absolutely amazing day at Gore Mountain! Recently started learning how to ski this year and this resort has everything from beginners to the most advance skier. Beautiful panoramas from many places in the mountains. My favorite views are all the way up top Gore Mountain on the way down through the cloud trail. Went skiing for the first time and the places was great. Everyone around and staff made the experience safe for me. Went down one of the larger hills completely inexperienced and this family guided me down (mainly the two 10 and 12 year old daughter). They were amazing for their age. The one knock I will have on it is there was a beginner course training for a discounted price which I didn't take initially but I realized I needed it. So I went back inside to get the beginner training and they gave us a hard time about the prices of the training. Nonetheless I ended up taking it and it was the best part. The trainer (an older man) was so patient with us. Literally gave us a 90-100 min session where I saw immediate improvement. As city slicker I never thought I would go skiing in my life but I had an amazing time and I owe it all to Gore for giving me a memorable experience. read more

Let me start by saying I have a huge fear of heights. I've told myself numerous times eventually I need to face my fears . Well I did today . I came to gore mountain to experience their mountain skyride that goes to the peak of the mountain. WHAT AN EXPERIENCE I shall remember for a life time . It's $24 dollars for an adult ticket and my husband and I went on together. You will need to pick up a pass card at the front of the establishment with the barcode that is emailed to you, if you purchase tickets in advance. I made sure to purchase advance tickets online being this is the last weekend for the skyline, for the season so I knew it would be packed . The views were something I've never experienced before (even though I was terrified going up) it was well worth it. When you get to the peak you have an option to come out and het great pics of the view and hike etc. Of course my husband and I decided to come out and tour a little . It's very cold at the top I advise to dress very warm during fall season up there , but again the views were phenomenal. They also have local sellers that sold home made fudge and honey to local pretzel sellers as well . Majority of local venders only take cash. MORE GORE! (That's their new heraldric slogan. You would think the zombie apocalypse was upon us.) It's been a few years since we've been back to Gore, but we picked the worst possible weekend for it over Presidents Day. Holiday prices, crowds and a brutal cold snap courtesy of an Alberta Clipper that blasted the NE with sub-zero temperatures. Saturday morning comes and it is +5 degrees, which is not totally out of the question for skiing, but you have to be prepared with heat packs for your boots and gloves. Even a little breeze drops the wind chill real feel below zero, so we are very appreciative of the enclosed gondola. A lot of trails are open, but riding on some of the open chairs is pretty brutal when the wind kicks up. The North side trails are deserted and it's just me, my buddy and the lift operator. We squeeze in a few cruiser runs on Sleeping Bear and Tahawus to warm ourselves up, just so that we can freeze our fingers and toes going back up the slow fixed quad chair. Meeting up with the rest of our group, we take a few runs on the front face on Showcase, Arena and Twister. After a late lunch at the lodge and a couple of runs to finish up, we call it a day. Woke up on Sunday morning to a reported -20 degrees. We already bought 2 day lift tickets, so not wanting to waste it, we headed out (though a little later than usual). When we reach the lodge, it's warmed up to a sunny -9. Only 2 lifts are running (gondola and 2 person Sunway) and even then the gondola was breaking down in protest every few hours. During lunch, somebody said they saw a guy going towards the gondola with a sledgehammer and a few minutes later you hear a huge BONG reverberating from the wheelhouse. Always remember that "the bigger the problem, the bigger the hammer". Despite the problems with the cold, we still had a good ski day. BTW, I ended up getting frostbite below my chin because my breath soaked my ski mask and it froze to my throat. Peeling it off was not fun. Ouch. Four stars for frostbite, Yikers! read more

We came on a thursday since the weekend was sold out. Parking lot was packed by the time we got there at 9AM. After circling a couple of times, we found a spot near the entrance. QR scanning system was very easy to use to retrieve the passes. Rental area was easy to get and I got my snowboard in less than ten minutes. The regular lockers had the locks taken out because of Covid. They had the big lockers available for $20 a day. We decided to go with the small lockers and just left our shoes in there. It was my first time riding on a gondola to the top of a mountain. The view at the top was great and it wasnt too crowded at the top. Lines werent too bad on a thursday. I could def see it getting super busy on the weekend. We mostly stayed on the green and blue paths. One round trip up and down took around 30-40 min. We tried black one time but werent a big fan of it. I would come back again to try skiing. read more

If it was not for the old fashioned rental process reminiscent of Zermatt circa 1990's, I would probably vote Gore mountain to be one of the best ski resort in the North East region. The rental equipment area is located at Northwoods lodge, the personal informations such as ski level, height, weight, shoe size has to be filled manually. Your ski boots will be handed to you but do not put them on until after your skis are customized for you (they still use boots to manually customize skis). The whole rental process took us approximately 30 minutes. I guess we were spoiled by the computerized and more organized rental process at the ski resorts in the Catskills. The resort consists of five different mountains that are all accessible and interconnected via different lifts lines. The gondola will take you to the second highest mountain in comfort and in no time at all. There are available trails for every ski levels, but this place is probably ideal for intermediate and advance levels. The queues for lifts are almost non existent. This place is indeed North Creek's secret gem. The base lodge offers a cafeteria that serves the usual burgers, chicken fingers, pizza etc. nothing gourmet but good enough to fill your hungry stomach. The pub and restaurant on the other hand offer an après ski and a more Sophisticated dining experience. All in all, was it worth the four hour travel? Given the number of trails, enormous size of the resort and the quality of snow, hell yeah! I will be looking forward coming back here next ski season. read more

We had a blast today trying out this mountain for the first time. Our first impressions was that it's a BIG mountain-- to ski from top to bottom is a 3 mile run! Lots of trails for both inexperienced and beginner skiers. The fiancé was disappointed that more of the glades trails were closed, but still early in the season so hopefully we will have a chance to go back and try them out. The trails were very well groomed and extensive-- despite only 47% of the terrain being open according to the website, we did not feel limited by our options. Great day and great resort! read more

My favorite new york ski location. As a frequent skiier i love to get a few trips at Gore mountain each season. Mountain is great and has some awesome trails. Whether its man made or natural snow the crew at gore always does a great job of grooming the trails. Ski lifts and gondola are in good working condition and lines are usually not that bad. The black dimonds are on the more aggressive side for the east coast, blue amd green trails are pretty accurate depiction. If your just starting out skiing they have a grest ski school with very patient instructors. Ski lounge and bar are a little old but get the job done. Id get their a little early if you wanna get a good spot to relax and put your stuff down at. Tons of parking on site however some lots are a little far away. Over all highly recommend for those looking for some good east coast slopes. read more

Just stopped by (Sept 2nd) to ride the gondola up the mountain for a nice photo op. Extremely friendly staff, lovely facilities and spotless campus. I didn't see any litter or tags/graffiti anywhere. The gondola ride up doesn't have handles so be prepared if you're scared of heights. Amazing, truly breathtaking views in all directions! This is a harder mountain than bellearye but a great one. Great mountain for intermediate skier and experts. When I went in February the new backwoods trail was open will a great cover off snow on it. The blowing here is great to. The views from the top of the mountain are amazing and breath taking. The nooks and crannies of this mountain is what makes it one of the best there is so much to do and discover. Even though it is a harder mountain they have a great beginner area and a good beginner glade. At the top all the expert terrain is so much fun. This is not baby mountain to Lies and Rumor are very steep even I didn't do them. If you are in upstate New York you have to ski this mountain. read more

We skied here last week for the first time. LOVED IT! The spring skiing was tough (but even with those conditions they had 40 trails open) but you can totally tell this is a kick a** mountain when in full gear during the winter. We are TOTALLY going back. There was a huge variety of terrain - a little bit for every level skier. It seemed like a "family mountain" b/c there was an ABUNDANCE of "picnic seating" in the lower level AND there were lots of families..... It was a gorgeous sunny day so everyone was outside. We found the skiers & workers all friendly & courteous which is a little different than Hunter Mtn. Reasonably priced. read more

Gore mountain is a hidden gem with amazing terrain. The mountain has done a terrific job of expanding the trail system and connecting the many different parts with European style connector trails. The Nordic system is a great place to learn and train. Gore is the home of our nations first ski patrol unit and 1st mountain division. Gore staff has done a great job of keeping the mountain open during coronavirus. Belleayre mountain's patrollers should conduct intervisitations so that they could adopt Gore's best practices. The gore ski patrol has real local skiers who eat and breathe skiing. The Belleayre ski patrollers are bush league and they should be working at Sears selling refrigerators. read more

Went snowboarding out east for the first time this past weekend, and we decided to try out Gore Mountain. Since it's still early in the season, there were only about 14 slopes open, but it wasn't crowded, and the resort had some great promotions going on (a demo day, $10 off lift tickets if you brought in a canned good). Found out from talking to some folks that it's one of the bigger resorts in the area. I was pleased with the terrain. They had fake snow made the whole weekend too. The lines for the Gondola weren't that long, and the staff was really friendly and accomodating. read more

I have fond memories of gore, spent a weekend here with a few of the guys and had a blast. The trails are all a good size and the mountain wasn't to crowded. If you went to the far side of the mountain there were trails that had not seen anyone one them by the late morning. I think the best memory was when we were on one of their steeper black diamonds, don't remember the trail name, and one of our buddies stopped at the beginning of the next trail, then I stopped, then our 3rd friend stopped, our fourth friend... however didn't stop, who plowed into our 3rd friend as they both went tumbling down each one of them having a yard sale. One of those dangerous then, funny now memories. If you can try to eat at the lodge on the mountain, not at the base. It just kind of cool and you can sit upstairs and get a great view. read more

Gore Mountain was so much more than I expected! The snow conditions were perfect the first day. The Mountain is so big, be careful not to get lost! There is a great mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced slopes. The second day conditions were drastically different. A half foot of powder was left from the night before. The temperature dropped and a fog set in on the top of the Mountain. The wind picked up and the snow stuck to our clothes and googles then turned to ice. It was awesome. We could barely see and we were freezing but the skiing was great! Cons: the food was expensive (no surprise) and the Mid Mountain Lodge food was pretty bad. Pros: the Base Lodge food court had a variety of food (even healthy options!) The best part was that the prices were reasonable and it wasn't too busy. Suggestions: I would pack a lunch take the gondola to the Mid Mountain Lodge and eat by the fire place and enjoy the Mountain views! Be careful the conditions can change rapidly, be ready for anything! read more

Underrated and under the radar. Have always enjoyed skiing Gore. Good runs, especially blue groomers. Great scenery and great vibe - a real Adirondack feel to the place. There are better mountains out there (Stowe is my favorite), but Gore's got a great, relaxed, friendly vibe to it (it's the anti-Hunter Mt.). We go there every MLK weekend and I've never waited more than 5 minutes for a lift - when the lines get long we just traverse over to the Burnt Ridge section where there's never ANY line at all. Easily my favorite mountain in New York. read more

Great mountain. I grew up in Colorado and moved to New York 5 years ago and have been hesitant to ski here because everyone has always told me that it will never compare. It doesn't, but that does not mean you can not have a great time. This mountain was incredibly fun. It's big enough that you can ski for a couple of days and not get bored, and on top of that, the prices are great. After skiing here and in Vermont, I have no idea why anyone would go the extra distance. Sure it is not a 'resort', but with the town of North Creek 4min away, there is plenty to do when you are done on the slopes. Highly recommended. read more

I'm not an experienced ski or snowborder, but I can say that this mountain was worth visiting. With many diffferent runs to choose from, each was unique so you'd never get bored. There was one big mountain with ample green runs and a nice gondola to get you to the top. There was also a smaller one that it connects to for a different feel. The pipeline to pass through was impossible on a snowboard- warning. Prices were decent at $75 for a one day lift pass, and $50+ for rentals. If you get a Ski and Ride better lesson package for $121 (almost the same) you'll get a lesson with a daylift and full rentals as well. Essentially they had instructors for each level you need, and for me, I ended up getting an hour and a half private lesson ! Since I was basically a beginner we stayed on the bunny hills though. What I should have done was to take the $77 beginners package, including bunny hills, and full rental. Its not much of a resort as there is only one big chalet with a huge cafeteria style common area where people are doing anything and everything. Whats worse is that with the lack of storage space, everyone puts their stuff here - its a miracle things are stolen. If you want something quieter, there is a lounge area downstairs but doesnt have the nice big bay windows to look at others on the slopes. They also have nice big lockers you can put your own lock on, or the terible one use ($2) lockers. We stayed at the Summit near the Gore, a bunch of townhouses available for rental. It seems like they also own an Inn also close by For those not into skiing, you can check out North Creek town for some antiques and a bakery and local handicrafts. Also about 30 mins away, you can find Lake George outlets (Coach, J Crew, Banana Republic, Levis, Nine West) There's not much else otherwise. I would suspect this area is quite nice in the summer time. Lots of Lakes, rivers and ponds frozen over at this time of year, is a nice backdrop to the towering trees. read more

We absolutely love Gore mountain. The conditions here have always been amazing. Even deep into March, we would be boarding in a t-shirt and having a blast. The scenery is beautiful as well, especially getting off the gondolla and seeing the two mountains. The runs are long, with the lower half of the mountain being greens and blues. The number of available trail combinations also makes this mountain extremely fun to ride. There are plenty of lifts, so we rarely found ourselves waiting too! Coming from the greater NYC area, we enjoy Gore much more than anything we'd find in the lower Vermont, Catskills, or Poconos area and definitely worth the drive. read more

Came here for Presidents' Day weekend. $83 for a day pass + $51 full rentals. I went snowboarding though most of the other visitors were skiing. There were many families here. I really enjoyed the gondola ride up. You don't have to have your snowboard on and you're safely enclosed in the lift. The trails going down the mountain are extremely long! I rode the green twice and it's easily the longest beginners trail I've been on. There are a couple flat patches where I ended up walking because I didn't accelerate fast enough. Stopped by the saddle lounge on the way down. Typical ski lounge food (burgers, hot dogs, soup, fries) so don't expect much. There is a nice fireplace though. Overall, Gore is quite standard for a east coast ski destination (very icy, man made snow) but with extra long trails. read more

This is a mountain on the east (ice) coast so keep that in mind. There is no soft fluffy powder, and the groomed trails are packed ice chips. That being said, practically every mountain on the east coast has these conditions. Gore is a pretty large mountain with runs that range from flat greens to challenging blacks. They have the north wood gondola so you can stay warm inside, but if you want to reach the true peak you've got to take the gondola to another chair lift. I went for two days midweek and both days the staff was friendly, the lines were nonexistent, and the New England Clam Chowder was good! Negatives of this mountain would be that they don't spray as much as others so they rely on natural snowfall for some trails. In addition, the mountain doesn't have any hotels on property, and only has a very small and pricey gift shop. I stood about 30 minutes away from the mountain and drove in. Kind of puts a damper on any apré skiing. read more
