I have had take out pizza from here quite frequently and it is always great! They are consistently good and I love that they use lots of cheese and the crust is always crunchy. They have a casual dining area if you do want to sit inside and eat. I came here last night to grab take out forgetting that Halloween night is the busiest for pizza and even though the line was really long and they were sooo busy, they were efficient and got my order out quickly. We have been going to GHOP for years and have never once had a problem with service or food! Rather it's been sitting in and eating or take-out the food is always hot and delicious. Traveling across New England. What a find! Fantastic pizza! The crust was golden, crispy and light, even though it was pan style! That's hard to do. The toppings were generous. This was one of the best pizzas I have had in a long time. I know. I used to make pizza (decades ago) and have eaten pizza all over the country and even across the world. The pizza came out quickly. Friendly service. They provided a bag of ice for us so we could take the leftover pizza to go in one of our cooler bags -- we had a 2-hour drive still left that day. The pizza was that good. We had to save what we did not eat. A 10" pizza is pretty large. I could eat the whole thing, but would be over stuffed. I suggest a couple of improvements to the owners: provide larger cups for the soft drinks and provide regular silver ware (I could not find any) and hard (plastic) regular plates rather than paper plates. read more

I tried this place a few months ago for the first time and have already been back twice more. It's just that good. The crust is perfection. The toppings are not skimpy or overwhelming. Order ahead service is fast, making them a wonderful option when time is something you don't have to spare. If you do have e the time though, go in, sit down and eat in. I've been so excited over my meal each time that I've devoured my meal. Maybe next time I'll manage to get a picture before I dive in! GHOP MAN! You know you're a good pizza place when you excel in everything you make. I got the loaded steak 'n cheese which I loved. It doesn't look like it has a lot of cheese but the bottom is lined with it through and through. I could've done with a bit more peppers, but I found the steak finely chopped to right up my alley. My mom got their chicken salad with feta (small) which is enough to feed two humans. The chicken was great quality and the house dressing that came with the salad was excellent. Lastly, the dadster got their sausage pizza and was a big fan (guys hard to please too). A lot of college aged employees were working here this day, all of whom were extremely kind, and didn't even give me a second look when I asked for numerous different sauces. Would highly recommend here, and always convince my family to stop on our way back to Massachusetts. read more

I moved up here from Connecticut about 10+ years ago. We have tried many different pizza shops around and most were okay, but nothing like we had down in Connecticut. I came upon their shop a few weeks ago and noticed that I was having issues with their site on my mobile. I already contacted them, and they got back to me and were very kind. Now, onto the food. We ended up getting a pizza and a calzone from them a few days ago, and we were extremely happy with the food. Out of all the pizza places I have had up here thus far, they are the best all around. The calzone was great, but my mother did wish for a bit more seasoning in the sauce that came on the side. We were pleased to see that the calzone came with ricotta, as the ones we have tried up here from other places, did not have it. I will definitely recommend them and will be going back. Only things I would critique, is the site. Look into the issues that I posted, also, I would add the additional info for the items. We ended up getting a copy of the menu when we were there, for the online menu is missing what comes with most things. We were skeptical from ordering things we didn't know, for the menu was half done on the website. read more

My husband works in Gorham so I thought it might be worth trying this since you could pick it up on his way home. Everyone has their standards for trying a new place. Mine are garlic bread, onion rings, and in this case Pizza. I grew up in Portland so I've been to most of the local House of Pizza locations in Southern Maine, including the original Gorham House of Pizza. I was looking forward to seeing what has become of it since, all things considered. I did my best to read the most recent reviews here on Yelp. I had High Hopes since all the reviews I saw from recent months are relatively glowing. I do not believe myself to be a snob about many foods, even though I spent 10 years recently living in New York City. That said, I was really underwhelmed. Yes the salad dressing was very tasty. The pizza crust was not terribly doughy but not terribly crisp either. There was certainly a respectable amount of cheese on my extra cheese pizza. But the red sauce for me was very ordinary. It tasted like it could have been a jar of Prego or something. The garlic bread, my husband and I agreed, tasted like what you get in the freezer section at Shaw's or Hannaford. The side salad was unremarkable because it was literally just what you'd expect in a side salad. The onion rings were not as thin and crispy as I prefer, but edible. I would point out they tasted much more oily then I believe properly cooked fried of foods should be. The french fries and side salad were included with my husband's chicken sandwich plate. The french fries, my husband and I agree, we're very disappointing. They were not at all Crispy and they were remarkably under salted. I'd be surprised if any salt have been added. My husband tells me the chicken sandwich was acceptable. A choice of grilled or fried chicken on a sandwich that comes with mayonnaise, tomato, onion, and lettuce as the standard order. The menu is a respectable size, so there are other things that look interesting and we would be willing to try. But as first experiences go, this wasn't the best foot forward. I'm sure everyone has a bad night and that was possibly the case here. But we're certainly willing to give them a second chance. read more

This was an unexpected find. Wow, the chicken bbq pizza was amazing. The crust was 3/5 but the chicken meat, bbq sauce, and cheese, 5/5 all day long. The meat pizza was also good. The fried mozzarella was salty and on greasy side. Overall loved the quaint location on this small town corner. The seating area was kind of messy, I didn't care for the Pepsi products, and they didn't have any Parmesan cheese. But wow that chicken bbq pizza was spectacular! I've been craving a non-bready crust lately, ya know - the old style where the crust edge is almost crunchy and the bottom is a bit thinner...where I grew up this style was always owned by Greek families. While this a little more of a drive for us, GHOP is the closest so far to what I've been looking for. We got a large veggie and it was loaded. The problem with veggie pizzas is that the bottom crust trends to be soft due to the higher moisture content of the veggies, a challenge. Why does this matter? Well, when a pizza smells so good, how can you not eat a slice or two in the car on the ride home? Crust was softer than I hoped, but the flavor was good and next time I'll pick just a couple veggies rather than load up with them. Yes, I said next time. I'll definitely return. Honestly, if you spend any time in Gorham and have not gone to GHOP, you are doing Gorham wrong. GHOP is literally and metaphorically the heart of the town. The place where the University students escape to get some good afforable off campus food. Where the high school teams come to celebrate. Where anyone from the town comes to get their favorite slice. The pizza is a great Greek pizza. And man, the calzone is fantastic. I am a big fan of the chicken souvlaki - in sandwiches or in a salad. And that house dressing. I literally do not know anyone that doesn't love that dressing. And if you don't like it - examine your life and look into your heart and get some light in there. Unless you are vegan - your body your choices, live on brothers and sisters. I love GHOP and and I am happy they rose, literally, from the ashes like a phoenix and became even stronger. Stopped in today around 2:00 and I was starving. I just picked this place randomly because I was craving a sub. First impression was that the place was clean and the woman taking the order was very friendly! Everyone was friendly. Felt like a great family run place:) So, I asked about what they are known for and she said the Souvlaki chicken sub. She gave a full description and it sounded wonderful. I asked about the roast beef sub and she said she couldn't say because she doesn't eat RB but the owner walked by and said that's his sub of choice! Decisions, decisions.....I went with the chicken sub. OMG! Roll was slightly toasted, chicken tenders were absolutely mouthwatering and tasty... all the flavors were perfect. I even ate the extra lettuce that fell out and IT was amazing! I feel like there was a special olive oil on it:) I ate the entire large sub and hope to get back there someday! We came here the other day just wanting a couple of salads but as we walked from our car down the snow covered sidewalk the smell of delicious intoxicating pizza came over us. Our plan quickly changed. We decided, how about a pizza and a salad to share, perfect. We walked in and placed our order found a nice comfy booth and waited for our name to be called. The atmosphere is laid back and you don't have any feeling of being rushed. Our order was ready for pickup!! Oh yum yum!! The chicken on the salad has to be one of my favorites. Grilled and seasoned to perfection, I could just eat a bowl of that and be happy. The pizza (Hawaiian) was delicious and flavorful! Plenty of toppings and the crust was delish! The food is exactly what you would expect from any other "House of Pizza". My issue is how they prepare your food. I refuse to give them anymore of my business when I saw multiple people preparing food without any gloves on. Grabbing chicken, then rubbing that off on their pants, then opening drawers, then throwing some lettuce in a container, then grabbing more chicken. It's disgusting enough to work like this in the food industry when you are behind closed doors, but to handle your food like this when everyone can see it. Gross. read more
