My husband and I ate at Portland Pie Co. on the last night of our Maine vacation. It was a Sunday evening around 8, and a lot of restaurants and stores were closed, so we didn't have to wait long. While we ate inside, it seemed like the shop does a big to-go business. We shared the Old Orchard Roasted Veggie pizza, with red sauce, green pepper, fire roasted red pepper, mushroom, artichoke heart, fresh garlic, three cheese blend and crushed red pepper. The slices were heavy on the red sauce, which made me happy, as I've been known to order extra sauce. You can get your crust flavored with beer, basil, or garlic, and we got ours flavored with basil although it wasn't really noticeable to me. I'm not a fan of beer-infused dough but know some folks are into that, and you can get it here. My husband also ordered Portland Pie Poppers, which are a seasonal item. They're stuffed with bacon, pepperoni, sausage, and cheese and come with a side of sauce- a good appetizer to share. The shop is close to the turnpike and lots of shopping and hotels, and there's a Cabela's in the same parking lot. Both of us shared the 14 inch thin pizza, and we had three slices left, which we ate for breakfast before leaving our hotel the next morning. Let me start by saying I have Crohn's disease which has led to me needing a gluten free diet/lifestyle. Pizza has been a rocky road ever since going gluten free because nothing has really been worth it. However, this pizza may single-handedly be the best gluten free pizza I've ever had. We helped a friend move into their new home this weekend in Portland and ordered Portland pie co for dinner after we were all done moving. It was the best decision ever. My boyfriend and his friends are all gluten lovers - they got a garlic crust with cheese, pepperoni, caramelized onions, pineapple, and burnt ends and they all LOVED it. Bonus points for the side of hot honey that they drizzled over the pizza. The two gluten free friends in the group (me included) got a pizza with half feta, pepperoni, and broccoli and half feta, pepperoni, caramelized onions, and green peppers. I am so sad my boyfriend and I live in Boston, because this would be a constant place we hit up for pizza. The pizza was nothing short of perfect and may just land as the best place for gluten free pizza in my heart. My boyfriend rates the gluten pizza as a 9.5/10 I would rate the gluten free pizza as a 10/10 easily. We can't wait to return to Portland for more pizza! read more

Haven't had a pizza worth eating here in at least a year at this location. Went for dinner last night, basic large cheese pie well done, came out mostly raw. The second attempt was burnt on top and still basically raw on bottom. Not sure if it's an oven problem or premade frozen crusts or what really. It's a shame, enjoyed many great pies in past years. The classic cheese and pepperoni pie was definitely a winner. The gluten free pizza had an interesting crust, not quite great, but average. Vegan cheese is no up-charge which is awesome, and melts pretty well on the pizza for a good swap. BUT let me tell you about the bacon mashed potato pie. Granted it's been six or seven years since I've been here, but when did this place tank? Went in yesterday for my sins Bday with my wife. She's never been. Order an app, some garlic bread knots...a cheese pizza and an Italian sandwich. We finished nothing. The pizza dough which was beer flavored was very soggy, The sauce on the pie flavorless and he cheese was the same. The pie had no discernible crust and looked like it's fed through a press, not hand tossed. The garlic knots were over done. Oh, I forgot the French fries....think freezer section fries burnt on a sheet pan. Not fried, like the name French fries....suggests. The sandwich was OK but wouldn't order again . Should of taken some photos. Waitress was nice, friendly. All in all definitely not what I remembered. Should of listened to my son when he suggested Ottos. Called for delivery since I was staying in the area for the night, the front desk recommended them. The employees were so nice on the phone and helpful with reading off some of the menu details. They delivered on time and we're just very pleasant. I ordered the Cesar salad, fries and a mushroom pizza with anchovies. The fries were okay but some were a little overdone, the Cesar salad was as expected, but kind of small. As for the pizza it was good but the cut was strange and all of the toppings were in the center. Didn't take away from the taste but that would be my note. If I'm in the area again I'd probably give them another go as I did order a little later in the evening. All in all, not bad. read more

3 1/2 stars??? Madness!! Before the good: sat outside, great service, but cover yourself with mosquito repellant because something bit the bejeezus out of everyone. Note, reason ate outside because it's freezing inside the restaurant. Apparently the owner doesn't like the thermostat touched and his idea of the right temp is around 65°. Which is weird because it must cost him a ton to refrigerate that seating area. But alas. The cheesy breadsticks were just right ratio of cheese to bread. Bread was crusty and chewy. Waitress suggested adding some garlic butter. Who's say no? Perfection. Everyone was happy with their pizza or fish. Mac was creamy and light. Caprese sliders were great concept great execution. One on the menu one make ur own pizza. 10" is six slices. Eat half there. Leftovers for another full meal. Seems like it'd be hard to go wrong here. (Again, HOW can this be less than 4 stars??) I am sharing the lack of customer service I reached here that they never acknowledge. Sunday March 21st. My husband, daughter and I order take out. I had to call it in as I couldn't order double pepperoni online. On the way there my daughter fall asleep, so I called and told the guy that and asked if I could give my card over the phone and do curbside and he told me it was too late to do that. So I said fine I will wake my daughter up. We went in and got our pizza and she cried the entire time! Then on top of that when we got home, our pizza wasn't even cut.... My daughter and I were coming in weekly to dine in during the week (3 out of the 4 previous weeks we had been in) but if that is the way your staff treats families, we aren't coming in anymore. I have to preface this review on the fact that we have eaten at other Portland Pie restaurants around the area and it has always been a great experience with helpful service and great food. Now onto our experience today. We were greeted at the door and brought to the bar area to one of the tables where the bartender was the server/tender for the bar. First of all, we truly felt like we were bothering her when she was busy talking to other employees and rapping about what happened last night out partying until late. She was very short with us immediately asking us if we were ready to order before even having a moment to dive into some of the specials ... We then placed our order for drinks. My son said he wanted a chocolate milk and then ordered a pink lemonade while I went with your trusty soda and water and the wife the same. The tender/waitress came back with chocolate milk .... until she heard us asking him about his drink she came back over and said sorry she had his milk on the mind. We then placed our order .. We started off with a bread bowl dip with a cheddar and sweet potato mix with some wheat dipping sticks. This was very bland and this surprised us seeing as how it comes from Kamasouptra. I ordered the fall special Madawaska Pie with three types of delicious mushrooms and three cheeses with a feta cheese sprinkled over it with dried cranberries on a wheat crust and it was delicious. My son ordered a kids cheese pizza with chips on the side and he said they were good. My wife ordered an Acadia turkey sandwich with greens, brie cheese and apples with extra for a side salad (she asked if she could have fries with it where the tender stated that they did not offer sides of fries just an appetizer sized bucket ... wifey not happy lol) The food came and my wife's turkey looks as if it was the bottom of the barrel where it was extremely dry and brittle with dried ends. The side salad was literally thee inches and contained a few pieces of lettuce on it. She was very disappointed. When we brought it up to the tender she gave us a disgusted look and told her manager. He came out and stated that he would make us another one. We said that is ok no biggie ... we just wanted to tell them so they would be sure not to make it for the next customer. Although this was a nice gesture, it would have been nice for them to take some of the sandwich off of the bill or something. (which by the way, we never complain but I felt we need to here) The best way to describe our experience here is that we bothered this bartender on her saturday and seeing a family with a kid in tow enter her section, she probably was like "Great no tip for me" not knowing that we tip very well for good service. We stopped in for an early supper. The place was fairly busy, but not packed. We were greeted by someone who was not the hostess and was not sure where to seat us. He told the hostess where he'd put us and all was well. Order was taken quickly and my wife got her soda quickly. I had to wait 5-10 minutes for my beer and the waitress apologized that the bartender was taking so long. Once she brought my beer she took our orders. The last night I was in town during a business trip I was really wanting to try something other than a seafood restaurant so after talking with some coworkers and also seeing someone bring pizza into the office, I decided to give Portland Pie Co a try. I ended up calling ahead to place my order for carry out. I decided on ordering bread sticks, a pepperoni pizza (Old Port) and then trying their cheeseburger pizza (Crescent Beach). The first pizza I dove into when I arrived back to my hotel room was the Crescent Beach also known as the cheeseburger pizza. This was easily one of the best tasting pizzas I've ever had in my life. The ketchup and mustard base sauce paired really well with the hamburger, bacon, onions and cheese. The fresh romaine and pickles that I added from the take out container they send it home in made the pizza just come together really nicely. The Old Port, their version of the pepperoni pizza was very tasty. I didn't really end up eating much of the bread sticks since I was full from scarfing down the whole cheeseburger pizza a a few slices of the pepperoni pizza. As well as the slice of buffalo chicken pizza (Nor'Easter) that I had purchased when I picked up my order for carry out. It was also amazing. Giving it five stars over the fact that it has phenomenal gluten free food as well as been my favorite go to pizza place for a few years now. My wife and I have eaten at and from portland pie co many times at several of its locations. The pizza is generally very good. The specialty pizzas have great flavor and the beer crust in itself is quite tasty. On our last visit (take out), this past Saturday night (12/28/24), we ordered two 10" cheese beer dough pizza with a side of French fries. Asked that both pizzas be cooked light. What we got were two pizzas burnt and the amount of cheese did not cover the entire pizza. It was primarily crust little cheese and all was burnt to the same brown color with touches of black. You could not distinguish where the little amount of cheese ended and the crust began. And on top of that the fries were a smaller portion than normal and many were burnt black affecting the flavor as well... even ketchup could not hide the burnt flavor. Also ketchup was needed to eat the pizza since it was mostly dried out burnt crust. The whole experience has left my wife and I very disenchanted with eating at the scarborough portland pie. For sure. It is certainly disappointing to anticipate the taste of a creamy rich flavor of a 3 cheesy stringy pizza on rich beer dough to get a burnt slab of merely dough where you could not taste anything much other than burnt... This bad experience is making us think twice about eating at Portland Pie especially in scarborough. It is very sad to see all the good pizza places slowly fading into disappointment. read more

While visiting pine point we picked this location because of their yelp reviews and proximity. Located at the corner of a strip mall. Nice looking restaurant. The hostess was nice but there was a woman that maybe was a bartender? that kept coming out that was pretty snarky. She gave us an attitude when our family asked if we could get moved from our table to the inside. Waitress was friendly. Nachos and loaded potatoes strong. Chicken tenders (kids) good. Pizza was aces. I would def come back. Hopefully we get greeted with some better service next time. read more
