    5-pepper pork tacos
    Peter Z.

Great food, consistent high quality, and fair prices make Kalamazoo's first food truck a real winner. I've grabbed food from Gorilla Gourmet at least a dozen times now, and I've never had anything close to mediocre. The constraint of working out of a truck puts pressure on the chef to keep the menu small, focusing on sure-fire winners. He doesn't ever seem to miss the mark. On the menu I saw there today were smoked pork loin and brisket grinders, the vegetarian "El Monstro" quesadilla with spicy slaw, and vegan carrot curry soup. I've had all the above at one time or another, and the El Monstro and pork loin are both fantastic. The brisket is merely excellent. I'm looking forward to this summer and hopefully the return of Gorilla's amazing BLT, which must be eaten to be believed.

    Delicious food!

Not a fan. Ordered vegetarian tacos and they had no beans only a pickled slaw and some cheese. Small portion size. Not worth $5.

I read about Cousins today and since they were close by decided to grab some food…read more Calling this a food truck is an understatement. Cousin's truck is a luxury motor home tricked-out with all the latest bells and whistles of high tech. I ordered up their Me Lobster Roll and a cup of lobster bisque and headed home to shelter from the rain. Food was a bit pricey and, in my opinion, fairly bland. There were big chunks of lobster in the sandwich but little seasoning or taste, I have had the Lobster Roll at Cove in Portage which was really delish dish with a great view for the same price. I probably will not try Cousins again.

The guy hands me my bag and this was such a disappointment to see (see photo). I was going to walk back and ask him about the lack of pico but there was a line and I didn't want to cut in line or make a scene. First, there were no smiles from either staff working in the truck. If anything, they appeared annoyed. Second, if they were running out, just tell their customers and either charge less or offer another side. We've ordered from 3 trucks in the area and 2 out of the 3 were a similar experience (no smiles, appears annoyed). For a food truck, even though it's lobster, it's overpriced and overrated. I refuse to order from them again.

During a noontime lunchtime park visit today, I decided to try food from a vendor I had never tried…read morebefore. My girl had headed to the Babatürk Food Truck, but I was in the mood for BBQ. So I had the brisket sandwich. Several thick slices of a grayish brisket in a hoagie bun. No pickle or cole slaw to provide acid. No smoke ring in the meat. I suppose I should have known better and gone to another truck. As the older man was taking my cash for my order, he asked - I thought at first it was said tongue in cheek - if I minded if he slugged the younger man doing the food prep. In retrospect, maybe I need to have greater appreciation for the stressed lives of people doing food service while working inside small metal boxes. Even so, I left no tip. I added the spiciest sauce option at the counter. And the sauce was the best thing about the whole affair. The meat was delicate to chew but was too fatty. And there was more bun than protein. I expected more for $10. It was a mind numbingly inadequate sandwich. My girl said if I could dissect from the hoagie a piece of the meat both untouched by the sauce and with no obvious fat, she would taste a piece. She said the only descriptors she could think of was "a tender, tasteless chew." (Her experiences with brisket in the past have left her scarred because she believes everyone prepares brisket in Kalamazoo to chew like shoe leather.) So we left the half I didn't eat on top of a green trash bin and we watched the bees fight for it.
