I tried Los Brothers for the first time on Friday and was back for lunch on Saturday! This has to be one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. I got three steak tacos with a chicken tamale on Friday and had to go back inside after finishing and get two more tacos, they were so good. On Saturday I again had the steak tacos and a chicken Gordita. The Gordita was very crisp and the cotija tasted fresh. The service was just as good, very fast and friendly. Amazing tacos for affordable prices. Not the best I've had but definitely would hit the spot when a crave comes along. Also the tamarind juice was delicious. If you're craving Mexican, this place is not it. I got the carne asada burrito and it was giving Del Taco/Taco Bell vibes with the iceberg lettuce and mayo. Their sauces were also mediocre. This hole-in-the-wall restaurant has good food at good prices, which is why you'll see a regular line of customers waiting to collect takeout. Friendly staff, good flavors, and a clean place. I got 3 tacos; carne asada, tripe and al pastor. All three had a great taste and I'm looking forward to coming back. Their hot sauce is LEGIT! I have been searching for a good hot sauce at Mexican restaurants and have finally found it. Their steak tacos are ok, I'm not a fan of the type of meat they use but their chicken tacos are pretty good. Can't say enough about the quality and value of the food at this little, nondescript place - but locals know it's unquestionably some of the best anywhere in SW Michigan. We've tried every single authentic Mexican restaurant we can find in the area and these folks share top honors for sure. Best single feature: the green sauce. Be sure to ask for extra! Red is fine, but green is like some inexplicable elixir of the gods (what's the secret? roasted tomatillos?). Great on literally everything, and a superb alternative to salsa with your chips. All the taco options are outstanding - we think they're the best in Kzoo. Steak is probably the best of all. Entrees are surprisingly good, too - try the enchiladas verde, which is mind-blowing: fresh, flavorful, with homemade tortillas as a base, slightly crispy around the edges from taking some time in the oven. What a difference that makes! I like the chicken, but I think you can't go wrong whatever you select for your meat. Chile relleno is also really good, but we like that particular dish even better up the street at Quekas. The people who work here are always unfailingly friendly and a pleasure to visit. This place is a gem hiding in the Edison neighborhood. I almost hate to give them even more business, because some nights it's actually too busy to get in even for takeout - but they deserve it. Super delicious! I drive by this place all the time and didn't realize it was a Mexican restaurant until I yelped for a Mexican restaurant as my usual haunt is closed on a Sunday. Absolutely love this quirky place! You order your food at the counter and the staff delivers it to your table. Make sure you get the green sauce as well as the red. Since I was hangry we ordered almost everything on the menu. We had the Chicken Sope; amazing home made shell and seasoned meat and cheeses and deliciousness. The Al Pastor tacos were super tasty made Mexican style. We had the pepper and cheese tamales, which were tasty and extremely filling. And topped it all off with a crunchy rolled chicken flauta. This is a local authentic Mexican restaurant however, I walked in with my girlfriend and the lady taking our order would not acknowledge me at all, she actually ignored me when I orders and proceeded to ask my girlfriend "is that all" after she neglected to write down my order. They also locked the doors at 7:45 when they close at 8:00. Now normally I would not care however they locked us in for about 2 minutes and didn't rush to unlock it when they saw we couldn't get it open. After getting the food my girlfriend got onions on her taco when she asked for no onions. Good quality, 4/5. Customer service 0/5. Worst service in Kalamazoo. Very upset. read more

I go back and forth on this place. Definitely do not get the nachos- it's like taco bell style with orange american "nacho" cheese sauce. I haven't found anything I love or crave yet but my husband loves their tamales and quesadilla. The tacos have been my safe go to and they're go bet but seems too generic. After today's visit, I will stick to tacos but likely go elsewhere in general. Update: tacos are fabulous- get chicken Mexican style- it's my go to. Continue to steer clear of nachos. read more

Another hole in the wall place in Kalamazoo! After hearing some great reviews about this place we decided to try it out and it has now turned into one of our favourite Mexican restaurants here. The place is small, not a fine dine. However, the food makes up for all of it. They have a small menu but they can customize it as per your needs. We had the gordita, sope and burrito. They customized all to be vegetarian. The best part about the food was that it had less cheese, more sauces and veggies and it was so good. Their green sauce is super yummy and highly addictive!! Red sauce was good but a bit too spicy for me - if anyone loves spicy food then you'll love this sauce. The portion size is just about right - which ensures I do not overeat. If you are looking for a hole-in-the-wall Mexican place for lunch, this is your spot. Super cheap ($2 tacos) and super good. I love the el pastor tacos and if you're a fan of beef tongue tacos, these are pretty good as well. I also have had the chili relleno platter a few times and it's delicious. They serve 2 sauces - a verde cilantro lime sauce that is creamy and tasty and a roja sauce that is full of flavor but seriously hot. It's a stand in line and order at the counter sort of place, but once you order you can sit in the dining area and they will bring your food out to you. Worst Mexican food I have had in a long time. The meat (steak?) was overcooked, dry, and unseasoned. In fact, none of the food was seasoned. Priced in par with other Mexican restaurants, yet you order at the counter and food is served on paper and styrofoam plates with plasticware. Nothing in the food, service or decor to attract us back. Having read the reviews on this restaurant's thread, and observing that there was a wide range of opinions, I wanted to give the place a try while my girl was all about pointing out the red flags. Wow. I should have paid better attention to my girl. We went twice; I rationalized after the first visit that the restaurant had an off day. But the second visit was no better. The tacos, the burrito, the Enchiladas Verde, etc., were without exception tepid in temperature and taste. With the Kalamazoo area being blessed with having more than several options for Tex-Mex cuisine, I think I'll put La Finca at the top and Los Brothers at or near the bottom. read more
