It's just a couple of miles from the market and post office, but it has a country feel and peacefulness. From bed, watch the sun rise over the hilltop, and at the table over coffee, see the birds, butterflies and wildlife start their day. Whether you are on a getaway or working remotely, it's easy to get outside on the property's trails or enjoy the wild places nearby. Carol is a responsive host and a font of knowledge about the area, living things, art and photography. Note: This is an old house (for example, a wood floor that in spots is not even) but it had everything I needed to be comfortable and productive.

I spent time up at Flower Hill in 2004, when the proprietress, Carol Duke, was working with me to design the flowers for my wedding. That's her other business, flower arrangements: http://www.yelp.com/biz/carol-duke-flowers-williamsburg#hrid:P1YOyzGwFG-ggsJ39czSXA. The farm is really peaceful, the grounds beautiful and the attitude truly grounding. If you think your life is spun just a little wild, try a getaway at Flower Hill. You'll leave refreshed.

I've been a guest here several times over the past 4 years. It's my go to in Northampton and I…read moredon't think I would consider staying anywhere else. It's an odd building (probably a few buildings cobbled together for the main hotel) but very charming. The restaurant and bar are strangely designed but definitely comfortable. The lobby area is large and welcoming. There's a beautiful front porch that is enclosed and looks like it was once a fully outdoor porch. I always find myself camped out there for part of the visit. You can find outlets to charge phones and laptops here and in the lobby as well. They have additional buildings and I've stayed there as well. Everything is very comfortable and you can make a short or long term stay work out very well. People are nice as you might expect. On our most recent visit, our room 300 was noticeably musty but opening the window for a while seemed to clear that up. Parking is limited if you want a space near the hotel. They have 10 minute spaces to allow guests with heavy bags to unload and there's a one story elevator to the parking lot to make the building accessible to anyone. The location could not be better. You can walk to a variety of excellent restaurants and shops. It is very easy to find and a few minutes off I-91. If you're a runner, take a left out of the front door and Smith College and a very nice park are just up the street. There's a reproduction tavern under the restaurant that I think may only be open for brunch on Sundays? I've never noticed it being open. There's an outdoor garden patio that could not be more beautiful. I think I recall seeing them serving out there but don't hold me to it. I'm usually here in the winter or shoulder seasons. There must be a reason why they don't use this as their main bar. Possibly accessibility? It's just another one of the odd layout dynamics of the Hotel Northampton. I would characterize it as charming. The bottom line is that I would stay here as often as I could. I don't even consider looking somewhere else when in the area. I think you would enjoy it if you gave it a try so please do!

From horrible customer service to horrendous property maintenance practices. Their lawn workers blow grass and leaves all over our steps and sides of the house, as well as cut divots and ruts into the lawn because they insist on running riding mowers over soggy earth directly after and sometimes even during the rain. They once broke a drain pipe with a mower once (I watched it happen and called it in right away) then allowed water to accumulate and destroy our backyard for two weeks because they didn't believe me and refused to send someone out to look. Two weeks. Water right up to our house. Run away, don't walk from this company. I've kept every single email I've sent to them as well as their responses or more times than not, their lack of response, including the one where their employee informed me that my emails go in the trash and don't warrant a reply. That's a legal document he assured me he deletes and ignores. Years of shoddy work and bad business. Unfortunately, they have or had some tie in to our condo board of trustees because the management we had before was a thousand times better. Kendrick came in: prices went up, service went down. Stay as far away from them as you can.
