Our dog Zizou has been part of the clubhouse for about 4 months now. We are so grateful for everyone there: Alex, Ariel, Chris, and Sean. Zizou takes her time trusting people and dogs and everyone there has been so patient and supportive of her. I've seen clear differences in her since she first stayed at the clubhouse. I see a marked difference in her confidence around other dogs. Before going to the clubhouse, she would typically wander from dog to dog and never seem totally at ease. It's improved since I brought her home a year ago and she's always having fun but it was like she was still trying to figure out how to play with other dogs. Occasionally, she'd find a dog friend to play with for an extended time but not always. Recently, I haven't noticed any of that awkwardness from her. At the park, she confidently joins in groups of other dogs playing. She even got dogs who weren't doing anything to start playing around with her. I an really proud of her. Even during pickup, she's gotten better. She used to be so nervous around Chris when he's come to get her in the mornings, but each day she's more and more comfortable. I know this is because of Alex, Ariel, Chris, Sean, and the clubhouse. They've let Zizou take the time she needs. They are happy when she does anything, however small, to show that she trusts them. There's no other feeling like peace of mind knowing that Zizou is in the hands of people who want her to be happy! Also because of her size (75lb German Shepherd mix) the other day care spot in the area shied away from her, isolating her, despite that she has never shown any signs of aggression. Meeting Alex is basically the best dog-related thing that's ever happened to my husband and I and our coonhound, Beckett. I mean life-alteringly good. Alex is so amazing with Beckett and every other dog I've seen her with. WE LOVE HER. In fact, I think Beckett might love her more than he loves us...or at least equally! You can just tell that they are true dog lovers, not just in the business to make money or whatever. Alex and her crew at Gotham Canine Club are simply the absolute best in dog care/boarding/training/walking. Above and beyond anything I could have expected. Our dog is spoiled and I didn't think anyone would understand that he's basically like our child. Because of our dog having parvo and other digestive issues as a pup, we have to cook his food for him (every dog food we've found has been too rich and makes him sick). I know that makes us seem like crazy dog people, but they take it in stride and don't judge us, ha. We've boarded Beckett with them a few times at "the Clubhouse." Pickup and dropoff is included in their pricing, which is about $60/night, I think. At least one person, if not more, is with the dogs there 24/7, and they send us text, emails, and photo updates at least twice a day. I have to admit, when I first saw the pictures of their boarding facility, I thought it was just a small concrete backyard with tiny dogs and pit bulls. (I have nothing against tiny dogs or pit bulls at all, I just wasn't sure that my high-energy barky coonhound would be a great fit there.) I couldn't have been more wrong! First of all, they vet all boarders with a short visit to make sure they'll get along with the other dogs there. Second, they walk them a few times a day. Beckett, who gets 3+ hours off-leash per day in Central Park, always comes home happy and tired! (And for the record, if I did have a problem dog who needed training or something, I'd definitely hire Gotham Canine Club--I've heard of the wonders they've worked with all kinds of dogs!) My husband injured his back recently and couldn't walk our dog for a while, so we've had Alex walking Beckett a few nights a week. Usually he's reluctant to leave with anyone other than us and his other favorite walker, but he practically runs out the door when Alex shows up. She's been super-flexible with our schedules and a true lifesaver. In summary: Having a dog--especially a 115-pound super-energetic dog--in NYC can be tough. Gotham Canine Club makes it a lot easier. I've even become friends with Alex. She's just that awesome. read more

Gotham Canine Club is the single greatest thing to happen to us as dog owners in NYC. Alex, Ariel and Sean not only provide an unbeatable service, but they are warm, friendly, flexible and a pleasure to spend time with. As any dog owner knows, finding the right people to entrust your dog with is a huge challenge. At the most basic level you need someone to take them out to do their business at the right time, but for many of us that doesn't come close to cutting it. We want someone who will go out of their way to treat our dogs with the same care, love and personalized thought that we do. Someone who will evaluate their needs for exercise, socializing and love and attune their behavior to meet those needs. Gotham Canine Club nails it. Our boxer/pit mix Ernie has never been happier. He adores Ariel who has been walking him for a few months now. Ernie doesn't take a second look back when leaving for a walk with Ariel, which is a big deal for him! He feels safe, secure and loved with Ariel - and as a bonus he always comes back thoroughly exercised and content. After Ariel leaves, depression sets in and Ernie sulks in the hallway hoping that he just might come back sooner than the next day... The daily post-walk reports are icing on the cake and make my day on a regular basis. It's such a delight to hear about what Ernie is up to on his walk and Ariel always provides and thoughtful (and often humorous) recap. We have noticed that since Ernie has been walking with Gotham Canine Club he is more relaxed on walks in general. He is more calm and confident when meeting new dogs and an all around happier dog. We feel so lucky to have found Gotham Canine Club. They have become a part of our family and I don't know what any of us would do without them! read more

Is it possible to give a thousand stars? We just boarded our SUPER energetic 9 m/o puppy with Alex for about a week and Alex took the BEST care of her. She sent us photos and videos throughout her stay and gave us a thorough breakdown of how everything went at the end of the week. In every photo and video we received, our pup looked like she was in absolute heaven as she romped around with other dogs and went on hikes. I have Alex in my phone as "Alex Dog Guru" because she understands dogs in ways that is beyond me (and I consider myself a HUGE dog lover). She gave us tips for training our puppy and told us to never hesitate to reach out if we needed additional help. I swear, our puppy came back a better dog and we don't even know how Alex did that! Gotham is by far the best dog walking service in Harlem! Besides being so thoughtful and caring for our dear Fidel, Alex and her team care about my husband and I. There have been times when I called last minute because I had late nights at work and Ariel, truly a dog whisper, comes to walk and feed Fidel. The Gotham Canine Club has basically become an extension of my family here in Harlem. My job is constantly changing, so a last minute request to help me out if my day has shifted has always been met. When I am away for a weekend or out of town for the day I get steady updates on walks and who my pup Lady met up w during her day. A screenshot on where she walked and an update (often times w a picture) of her time at the "clubhouse." It is a tremendous piece of mind to know your dog is being well taken care of while you are away. She always comes back exhausted from all her walks and play!! I spent time on the phone with the owner Alexandra before she came to meet our fluff ball with her awesome colleague Ariel. Gotham Canine Club is the "Best in Class" for dog walking, day care, and overnight stays. We first heard about Alex a year ago from our neighbor. My wife had just become pregnant, and wasn't able to handle walking our 68 lb pitbull named Coast. Alex stepped in right away. She took him to the dog park to socialize, and whenever she stopped by, she asked how my wife was doing with the pregnancy. She helped us with training early on in preparation for the birth of our son as well! When we leave town or need to get Coast out of the house for awhile, there is only one place we trust for him. Alex and Sean's home is always full of dogs, and they are quick to send pictures of Coast laying on the bed with all his friends. I know that when he goes with Alex, I don't have to worry about his separation anxiety. They even pick him up in the car, so we don't have to take him to the clubhouse ourselves. They took care of our big guy while we traveled, and most importantly, while we were in the hospital before and after my son's birth. Sometimes, I'm ashamed to say I get a little jealous when Coast comes home so happy from his time at the clubhouse. Recently, Sean's brother Chris has joined the clubhouse, and he has been taking Coast out ever since. I always look forward to his email updates after every walk, detailing the people who ask about Coast, and his interactions with the dogs he is walking with. He is another great addition to an already great dog family! I'm not a very trusting person when it comes to Coast. I often worry about how he behaves with others. I worry that if he were to act out, it would mean a death sentence because of his breed. I rarely let family members other than my wife walk him, because I have to worry about them taking him into the Laundromat (no dogs allowed) or tying him up outside the coffee shop, where he could be stolen. I have to worry about whether they are in control of the situation. I don't worry about Alex, Chris or Sean with Coast. When he is with them, my mind is at ease that he is safe. These people are loving professionals who know how to manage the most energetic of large dogs. Bottom line, I know these people love Coast and they take care of him when I can't be there, and they do it for very reasonable fees. I just wish I could give more stars. read more

When moving to New York from Texs my one concern was how my Lab mix Penelope would transition. I was so lucky to meet Alex and Sean my first month in Harlem. They have been walking and sitting Penelope for over a year now. I am always at ease when I am out of town. They send several updates a day on how my pup is doing including pictures and videos of her having a blast with the other puppies. Since I work nights they are extremely accommodating of my schedule taking Penelope for walks as late as 11pm and are always happy to do last minute appointments. I have no negative things to say about this company. Now they have brought on more walkers and everyone is professional and seem to love my girl almost as much as I do. Gotham Canine Club is fantastic and provides great service. Not only do they provide dog walking/sitting services but they also do dog training and socialization, and often do both at the same time. THEY ARE GREAT WTIH PITBULLS! What we have found particularly helpful is their flexibility with scheduling. We have scheduled walks at the last minute many times and GCC is always accomodating. They are also helpful with scheduling walks intermittently. My wife and I have very irregular schedules (college student, dancer), so we don't need help walking our dog on the same days every week and some weeks we don't need any help at all. But for the unpredictable days when we do need help, GCC is always just a text (sometimes very late at night) or phone call away and they'll schedule a walk with only a day's notice. If you have a dog that is misbehaving let Alex do a consult, you owe it to your sanity. We have a 60lb pitbull named Brewer who we love and is great with people but, as a dog adopted from a shelter, he has problems playing well with other pups. When he spends a day at GCC he comes home so tired and relaxed after playing with other dogs all day under GCC's supervision. It's great to receive picture updates of him playing with other dogs, many of which are other pitbulls. Alex has come to our apartment more than once to do a home consult and show us ways to work on Brewer's training. Last month he had a spate of separation anxiety and broke out of and destroyed his metal crate and GCC helped us out by watching him during the day while we waited for his new crate to be delivered. After reading such great reviews, I called, inquiring about a consultation to see if my dog and GCC were a good fit for boarding. The owner said she was rushing into a meeting but that she would text me some relevant info soon after. That was three days ago, and I never heard from her. I would typically brush this off but the exact same thing happened to my sister with GCC two weeks ago. She even followed up a week later after having a text convo with one of the employees and asked for more information and nothing. So I wish I could give a review of GCC, but I wasn't given the opportunity to sample their services. In the future, it would probably be best to let potential clients know if GCC is not accepting clients at the moment, which I am assuming is the case but who knows. read more

It is a bit difficult to know where to begin seeing as there are so many positive things to say about Gotham. Alex, Chris and Sean do not just take amazing care of my Maleigh when I can not be there but have become good friends as well. From walking Maleigh to taking her overnight if necessary, I am always updated on what she has done, how far they walked and any cute littles things she may have done during there time together. We are so lucky to have had Gotham recommended to us, I truly do not know what I would do without them. They always treat Maleigh as if she is one of their own and I am always telling Alex that she is Maleigh's second momma!
