The location IS convenient & we thought we would be staying at GOTHAM MINI STORAGE for many years, then we had no choice but to leave. We had initially been happy to be renting from a privately owned local business rather then one of the big chains...until you realize that they have no customer service and don't seem to care about their renters satisfaction OR if they stay or not. The elevator is so slow and stops for so long that you need to allow for extra time in your schedule, and the hours are already limited. The employees almost always look & act miserable. The price kept jumping up way too much & too often, but the facility does not improve in any way. It was very disappointing. read more

This location really sucks. Too much illegal activities going on in the place and the FBI conducted an investigation and closed the building down and clients were not able to get to their units for 2 weeks. Some people need to get their work attire and other business tools but were not allowed in the building. Asked management to reduce the rental or prorate it since customers were not able to get to their units but management refused and not they are increasing the unit cost, this is a rip off. read more

Epilogue: As of 12/2019 I've moved my belongings elsewhere. In the end, Gotham's hours - 8 am to 7 pm - didn't work with me. New York is a 24 hour city. There were other annoyances. After awaiting the restoration of their WIFI service, ultimately It proved to be slow. So much so that I didn't bother to use it, preferring my phone's cellular service over it. Then there was package deliveries that went missing. Delivery services sometimes left their package deliveries in the loading bay, apparently neglecting to tell Gotham's staff. The unnoticed packages, remained there until discovered. When asked, Gotham's staff, insisted that the packages were not delivered. read more

Ok-- so I never thought I would ever ever ever need storage. But when I found out my office was relocating to Brooklyn to a space that hasn't been built yet-- I needed somewhere to put our supplies for six months that wasn't at the west side highway. I found Gotham on spare foot which had a mistaken deal listed that they honored anyway, and there were yummy snacks & it was SO clean. Michael, who showed us our unit, was super patient and we picked the "right" one and helped us clean and move things (which he needn't have done, it was just an extra kindness.) I'm so stoked to have somewhere cozy (with climate control and free coffee) to visit when I happen to need grab something--- a far cry from other units I've visited: cold warehouses with broken bathrooms. Gotham is a Superb newly minted facility, it's close to the trains with climate control and offers spacious competitively priced units It's an immaculate building who's friendly and accomadating staff take the time to ensure that your experience is satisfying, I LOVE binging in the dining area with the assortment of complimentary coffees, teas and cookies at a table. The building is very secure with survellaince cameras and you can pull your car/truck or van right into the building and load and unload your stuff! My best friend and I were moving from Boston to New York and needed a place for our things for a couple months. We got a locker, and though it was smaller than the dimensions listed online we got everything inside. Gotham is a really well-located and affordable option (with their summer promotion). At first, we were nervous that it might be a you-get-what-you-pay-for deal but Gotham had great amenities. The facilities is fairly new and clean; the units are air conditioned and they have ample ladders and carts for moving. The front desk is great and service was on point (both in person and whenever we called). Because we moved from Boston, they were kind and generous in accomodating us moving out. Our driver was amazing--5+stars for that service! One thing to note (and this goes for other storage facilities too), you probably want to buy a lock in advance to use as they do not provide locks. I'm surprised at some of the reviews that I read on here. Contrary to what one person said the facilities seem impeccably clean. Both Britney and Adam were very friendly and efficient. The price was amazing and they said we could have it at that price for 9 months. I hope I don't have to worry about them changing the prices as someone else said on here. We just signed our lease and have the pick up on Friday --- that's the only reason I didn't give it five stars. We are starting off with a very small storage space and we live nearby so we don't have a whole lot to lose if it doesn't work out --- but so far so good! We are delighted. read more

If you need to store your stuff, hands down, this is the place to do it. I shopped around at quite a few places and Gotham Mini was the most competitive. And not only with the actual storage unit, but also with their moving and packing supplies. They have everything from boxes to bubble wrap to tape. I used both services and was very impressed with the value for money. The facility is great. Neat and clean with a huge elevator to be able to take all your stuff at once, as well as trollies to make the task easier. They also offer a FREE pick up service. Please note, not a moving service - but the pick up service is very helpful if you can find a friend to help you out with the loading and off-loading. In addition to that, their customer service is second to none. This is the best part about the company and the main reason for my review. They care about YOU, not just how much you are spending. They really look after their customers, as individual people. Every single person I dealt with there was friendly and personable. They had told me in advance that I was going to have to load and unload the van myself and put everything into the storage unit on my own, but in the end they helped me with everything!! These guys provided fantastic customer service. Jonathan and Enrique were courteous, professional and made our mini storage move much easier than we anticipated. With a day's notice they were able to come by in the van to pick up our stuff saving us a bundle. We also used the van service again for another pick up for $69 an hour. This was more than a fair price, they showed up on time, and we're extremely helpful when we were moving the items into storage. On top of that the pricing is very competitive for a secure, clean and modern storage location. read more

This is the best storage facility we've tried in Manhattan. My wife and I have used many storage places in NYC and none even remotely compare to the pure awesomeness of Gotham. If you're used to other places like we were, Gotham will feel like you are storing your stuff in a W hotel. But the crazy thing is that they match/beat the prices of the lesser quality places. It's mind-blowing. We've been with them since they opened and are just thrilled with the facilities and service. Only thing I'd ask for is maybe more flexible access hours because sometimes we want to get in real early or after 730pm. But that is seriously the only thing I can think of that's not super positive. read more

I had a last minute emergency today and can't move into new apartment for couple more weeks , I can't describe how helpful Gabriella was with her 5 star service & was actually happy to help my crisis. I live just few blocks away & did all my paperwork and viewed storage today so I won't have to deal with it tomorrow morning when I'm moving. So disappointed with my experience. RACIST AND TRANSPHOBIC - they were quick to take my money but not willing to credit me back for an over payment due to an error on their part. They've refused to respond to emails/calls and the manager advised I should take it up with my credit card company! RUN screaming into the night from this place. What once was a clean, well-managed and incredible facility has turned into a cesspool of deceit, games and filth. The place is managed about as well as a taxi driver's armpit with even less care for the customer by the so-called managers. The facility is falling apart, with the elevators breaking every day for some excuse or another. The cleanliness, or lack thereof, is a clear indication that you need to bathe in clorox after you have vacated your already over-priced storage unit. They get you with low prices and then jack up the rates every few months citing "Due to increased costs..." And they change the rules and rates for accessing your unit 24/7. Since our rental began two years ago, this has changed at least a six times. And for whatever reason, their computers are always having problems wherein they mix up entrance codes, can't find your records, etc. Though our personal favorite is the clear lack for regard of safety and security, let alone their "staff" actually following the facility's rules. As an example, the Red Bull Promo "Models" (if you saw them, you would understand what I mean) pull into the truck loading spot with their Mini Cooper, sitting there for hours. There is a clear sign that states it is for moving trucks only. When you complain to the staff, they say they can't do anything. So you end up waiting for a Mini Cooper to move out of the spot that is intended for the 20-foot truck you are driving because these wannabe pop-tarts can't be bothered to read and the management won't do anything about it. Really? Wow. Manhattan Mini Storage was once the plague of the storage solution in NYC. It is now our savior. We cannot get out of Gotham Mini Storage fast enough. Oh...and if you think Adam, the so-called "Manager", is going to help you...you are SORELY mistaken. They have run what once was a fantastic facility right into the ground. WATER DAMAGE TO MY ITEMS, NO RESPONSE FROM GOTHAM MINI After ALL of my belongings were damaged by a pipe burst back in February, the management at Gotham Mini Storage has yet to return a phone call, make any contact, or make any effort to recoup me for the thousands of dollars I spent in replacing my damaged items. I put my belongings in storage while I was traveling earlier this year. When I received a call days after a pipe burst occurred at their facility, the employee I spoke to was unable to give me any information about the extent of the damage or whether my unit had been affected...telling me that it was in fact his first day on the job. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told that no one was available to speak with me. Days after this initial phone call I was able to make contact with another employee who told me that (within another 2-3 days) an employee would cut my lock and inspect my unit for any damages and report to me whether my belongings were affected by water damage. Two days later I made contact with this employee who reported to me that it did NOT appear that there was ANY damage to my unit or its contents and that there was NO reason for me to change my travel plans to come back earlier and retrieve my things. I specifically asked this employee whether or not there was any standing water or any possibility that my things would be exposed to water for the duration of my trip. He said NO, that there was no visible water damage to my unit or my items. When I returned to New York one week later to move my things out, I found that Gotham management's account that there was no visible damage to my items was grossly inaccurate. In fact, all of my boxes of clothing and other personal items that were floor-level were crumbling, soaked with water, that had been sitting in water for now 2 weeks. EVERYTHING was ruined. While I understand that the company's policy that they have a cap for damages of $1,000, their negligence in providing me with flagrant misinformation was integral to the extent of the damages that were incurred. Had I been given any indication that my items may have affected I surely would have made arrangements for my items to be retrieved immediately and would have most likely saved the bulk of my belongings. It has now been 5 months since my initial claim of damages to Gotham Mini. During this time I have never received a phone call, status update, or compensation for my damages. If I do attempt to make contact by phone I am told that a manager is unavailable, on vacation, or a "don't call us, we'll call you." It is clear to me that I will not receive a penny from Gotham Mini and am now forced to pursue other avenues in recouping the near $5,000 this incident has cost me, let alone the time, energy and stress of dealing with insurance claims and replacing all of my belongings. I understand that many other Gotham renters were also affected by this and would appreciate any of you reaching out to me with any suggestions or if you have had any luck in reaching an agreement with management at Gotham. read more

We recently leased a unit from Gotham that is 150 sq ft after our small business's landlord terminated our lease to bring a bigger tenant. The free shuttle service helped us move everything over to Gotham and was so appreciated!!! We even needed to have electric access in our unit and they facilitated our installation flawlessly. The loading dock makes it easy for our couriers to deliver items. Overall we are very happy so far!!! read more

I rented a storage unit for the summer at the student rate. For 3 months, it was only $149!! Kailey (sp?) was SO SO nice, friendly, and accommodating. They even picked up my things from my dorm, as well as myself, and took me to the unit. The building is very nice, clean, climate controlled, and rather convenient location-wise. I had to extend my "lease" there for only a couple days, and they are only charging me for those days rather than a full month!! Would highly recommend using Gotham!! Yesterday, I walk into Gotham Mini Storage to buy some supplies to wrap up my couch for storage. I start a conversation with Dana and 20 minutes later, I walk out with a new storage room. The staff was helpful and courteous, the prices can't be beat. The location? Are you kidding me? it's two blocks from my apartment. The think I like best about Gotham is that it's a one off not a big chain like those Public storage people. The facility is bright and clean, the room was perfect and it will help me to get rid of some stuff from my old storage room as the room is 1/2 the size. Did I mention that they came by with their van and helped me move that bulky couch out of my apartment? No? well they did, it was AWESOME!! I guess some people just aren't happy with good service and give this place 1 star, but I'm going to get on the band wagon and give them all five. Thanks Gotham! read more

I can't speak to the actual storage, because I had to cancel. I booked the unit eleven days before the start date, but then cancelled the next day (ten days before the start date) because we were able to stay in our apartment. The person I booked it with never told me the $25 fee was nonrefundable, so I'm out $25 even though I never used the service and cancelled over a week in advance. read more

I've been shopping around for a great and trusted storage facility which can be hard in NYC. I found Gotham Storage on Yelp and used them for pick up and delivery for my apartment! I scheduled the day before and it was easy and efficient! Yves my driver was so amazing and great! Extremely professional, and on time.. Exceptional customer service from pick up to drop off.. When we got to the storage facility, Yves took his time and walked me through the whole self storage process by giving me a tour so I'd feel comfortable and self sufficient using their facilities! Met the whole staff, and they were all so pleasant and incredible. Any questions I had, they had answers.. Any challenges I had, and they had solutions!! As an out-of-state college student going back home for the summer, I needed to find what to do with all my stuff for the next 3 months that wouldn't cost me an arm and a leg. The storage facility I used freshman year had gotten rid of their student discount and hiked their prices, so it was back to the drawing board. After spending some time on Google, I found Gotham. Their website seemed legit and fun, so I decided to see how well they did on Yelp. Lots of 5 star reviews! After reading a review about their student summer storage, I called them up. Fernando was super nice on the phone and very helpful in getting a unit set up for me. After going through the number of things I would be storing and the type of items that would be included, we decided that a 5x5x4 locker would be sufficient enough. If you're not completely sure on what kind of unit would be best for you, they encourage you to visit the facility and check out the units yourself so you can pick one you're comfortable with! The unit would cost me $39/mo (this is a student rate, I think normally it would be $49) and a $9/mo insurance fee...$48/mo?? Definitely can't complain! Fernando then set up a time slot for (free!) pick up the following the week. The day of pick up, I get a phone call from Fernando himself, telling me he will be arriving with the van in several minutes. What a nice surprise. Fernando was extremely helpful in getting my stuff into the truck and once everything was settled in, he drove us to the storage facility (no need to cab it there!). Once at Gotham, Fernando walked me into the office station, where I met Jonathan who with Fernando, unloaded my stuff off the truck. Jonathan then brought me upstairs so I could take a look at my storage unit and make sure it was to my liking. Everything was perfect, (the storage facility is super clean and the view isn't bad either!) and we went back downstairs to complete the paperwork. Aside from the fact that this storage facility just looks fun and strays from the typical boring gray/neutral color, they have a hospitality station for clients, complete with a doggy treat bowl! I was very impressed. Once the paperwork was finished, Jonathan not only helped me get my stuff into the elevator, but he also helped to actually put my stuff into the unit. He is seriously the best! The locker units are typically on top of the walk-in units, so you have to climb one of those rollable staircase ladders, and with it being just me and some of my boxes actually being larger than myself, I wasn't sure how I was going to get them up there. Don't know why I was worried; Jonathan was pretty much Superman! Once you have your stuff locked in your unit (you can bring your own lock, but if you don't have one they sell them there as well as moving supplies), you're free to go. You can mail in your payment via check/money order, phone it in, do it in person at the facility, or simply set up your account online on their site. They also have an automatic payment option that you can either set up while completing paperwork or with your online account, to help you avoid any late fees. The whole process was quick and painless, and while this will likely be the last time I will need storage in the city (a fact I'm completely bummed about because of how awesome Gotham is), I'm definitely going to recommend this place to everybody. read more
