We came here for a Winnie the Pooh Afternoon Tea. Oh my goodness...it far exceeded my expectations! Hats off to the kitchen staff for coming up with such a creative and whimsical afternoon tea. First thing that caught my eye was the cover of the afternoon tea menu. It was red with a picture of Winnie the Pooh and Christopher Robin printed upon it in a shiny gold colour. When flipped over, it had the menu for the afternoon tea printed upon it. I was super impressed that they even had a separate menu printed for Vegetarians. (I opted for a Vegetarian menu). There was a cute little ceramic jar that was shaped like a Honey pot, and it had sugar cubes in it! Then there was this booklet that was pages long, and divided into Chapters. It was basically the menu again, but in the form of a small book. Each Chapter of the book described different foods from the afternoon tea. The last chapter listed all the different tea flavors one could choose. When we sat down and read this menu, I heard more than one person at the table say that they wanted to take this menu home. Guess what? For the price of $25, one could take this menu home as a memento of this extraordinary afternoon tea? Maybe I'm a bit of a sucker, but how often does one get to go to an afternoon tea as special as this? And I've always been a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh. So I coughed up the $25 and brought one of these menus home with us! Food was sooo good. I loved how warm the scone was when I cut it open. This was one of my favourite items. The sandwiches were amongst my favourites as well. As phenomenal as the experience was, I do think there are a few things which could have improved the experience. For one, a bit more service would have been appreciated. I had to wave my hand in the air to get our server's attention so that I could ask her to refill our tea pots with more hot water. Would have been nice if she'd just come around a bit more often and offered to top it up for us. Tea cozies on our tea pots might have been another improvement. A lot of my tea cooled down by the time I got to it. I like my tea hot but I didn't get in very many cups of hot tea as there was a lot of food to eat and by the time I was ready to pour myself some tea to wash down my food, the tea was...not so hot anymore. Oh, and while most of the food was appropriately sized, there was this one chocolate cookie sandwich that was really gigantic and suggested to be eaten last. We were so full already from all the other foods in the afternoon tea, and then to squeeze that giant cookie sandwich in...right at the end? A smaller and daintier cookie sandwich would have been preferred. It was overall a truly phenomenal experience. Yes, I do think it could have been slightly better, but I do emphasize the word "slightly". The points lost were so minor...I would still highly recommend this afternoon tea to anyone. It was well worth the money. It's offered every weekend for now but not sure how long they'll keep this around so if you're interested in a Winnie the Pooh themed afternoon tea, I'd make a reservation for it ASAP! read more

For this one it is not easy to rate as there are 2 sides of this review. The afternoon tea is absolutely lovely and delicious and so brilliantly presented. The setting is cosy and relaxed atmosphere. Staff was lovely and we were not rushed. Unfortunately they require full payment at the time of booking including a tip % automatically applied. I find this quite distasteful. It is one thing to pay a deposit to secure our spot ....but asking for the tip for a service yet to be provided is terrible. My friend really wanted to go and therefore I agreed to it this one time but I would never do it again. read more

Had an amazing experience at the H Tasting Lounge in Vancouver. My wife was able to secure a last-minute reservation for us and our friends to enjoy the "Around the World in 80 Days" Afternoon Tea. Parking was free and nearby, which was really nice. They also offer valet for those who prefer valet. The experience was spectacular from the moment we walked in. We were provided with these travel journals (menus) which highlight the chef's experience across the world. The menus were a very whimsical take on the traditional menu and was very well written. I enjoyed following the journey around the world as the dishes each came out to us. The ambiance in the restaurant was lovely and serene. They had a live harpist playing during our afternoon tea session and she was really great. The food was really good. The highlights of my meal were the savory dishes. My favorite dish was the olive oil poached east coast lobster and a close second was the cacio pepe risotto arancini. The sweet dishes were also amazing but I lean more towards savory. I enjoyed the matcha yuzu tart and Lychee cream puff but some of our friends noted it was a tad bit sweet. I wanted to celebrate my parents 30th wedding anniversary at the Dome's Winterlust dinning experience inside H Tasting Lounge. I tried to book something in November but they were already fully booked till Jan. They did have a waitlist option so I had put my name down and luckily got a spot two days before their anniversary. I wanted to get a cake and stuff and the staff were so amazing to work with. They were very fast to respond to emails as well as phone call. The dome experience was incredible! They have speakers inside the dome where you can play your own playlist through spotify. They also had fake snow to better the ambiance! Such an amazing experiece, my parents thoroughly enjoyed it. Their food options were also pretty good. I would say overall it was not too pricey considering the ambiance and service. The minimum spend for us was $150 which is very easy to do for a party of 5. Myself and a group of 5 friends decided to book the Winterlust Dome Dining for a fun post-Christmas night out. We had seen a number of videos on social media with people enjoying the unique beverages, incredible looking food, and fun aesthetic. Once we arrived, the host was friendly and receptive and took down our license plates (if you are driving make sure to skip paying for parking and just register your plate with the host). We were sat in a gorgeous dome that definitely emitted Christmas and winter goodness. Our server was kind, knowledgeable and helfpul with all our questions. One thing to note, don't expect the drinks you see on social media necessarily. We were there on December 28th and that happened to be the day they changed over their bar and had taken away the holiday drinks and replaced them with "drinks from around the world". The drinks still were good, but definitely not as showy or "instagramable" as the holiday ones. I ordered the Laka A Lono, a cocktail topped with dole whip. It was refreshing and not as sweet as I expected which was a pleasant surprise. For starters, we ordered the roasted parsnip hummus and the san marzano tomato meatballs. Both were delicious and loved by all at the table. There were only 3 meatballs in the appetizer, but by cutting them in half there were enough for all 6 of us. For the main, I ordered the steak frites, medium rare. Although I felt the steak was a little more on the medium side, it was still delicious and flavourful. The fries were some of the best fries I have ever had and whatever seasoning they used was incredible. We had the most amazing experience dining inside the Winterlust domes at H Tasting Lounge, located at the Westin Bayshore. The atmosphere is cozy, festive, and feels like a little winter escape right in Vancouver. Service was outstanding -- Rayland took great care of us the entire time. We tried a variety of dishes including the Honey Glazed Brioche, Harissa Tiger Prawns, Venison Tonnato Tartare, San Marzano Meatballs, Artichoke Ravioli, and the HTL Burger. Everything was beautifully presented and full of flavour. The cocktails were excellent as well, especially the Espresso Martini and the Cosmo. This restaurant is one of the few in Vancouver that has a very fun with lots of science aspects or popular themes. They use things such as dry ice, smoke all the way to themes like Winnie the Pooh or other lovable characters. The high-tea is a beautiful idea with the cute themes and on the weekend there is a harpist but unfortunately the restaurant is in the middle of a very popular hotel lobby. This is where I would opt to go into their winterlust domes as it is the highlight of the season. They are warm and private domes where you can even choose your own music via your private speaker accessible through bluetooth. It has the holiday cozy theme with even fake snow sprinkling sporadically outside! The servers are friendly, informative and have great suggestions for menu items. I'm a fan of seafood so I go for the fresh oysters and the seafood pasta which is packed with prawns and a bunch of other shellfish! The quality of ingredients is high and the chef really cares about the food that they put out in a unique and beautifully presented manner. My wife and I arrived here a little later in the afternoon and needed to get some food before our evening event. We were quickly able to get a lovely seat outside to enjoy a wonderful sunny afternoon. The hostess and server were so friendly and delightful. Luckily we got here at happy hour where there are discount prices on drinks, appetizers, and some meals. The wife and I split the Smashburger and also got some truffle fries. There was faux snow periodically (not often enough) made of foam soap! The food was pretty good, the drinks were better. It is a great experience all together. And if you wanted to do a fun thing with children, they were also doing Winnie the Pooh inspired tea and desserts you could book as a whole experience. Magical. Magnificent. Marvelous. We came to experience the Winterlust and was completely blown away by the whole experience of dining in Domes. It was decorated so beautifully with Christmas ornaments complete with heaters, throws, blanket and music. It felt like we're eating outdoors but we're indoors at the same time. Service was excellent as they bring each dish into our dome. Luckily it wasn't raining but I wonder how they'd keep food from the rain as they bring the dishes from the kitchen into the domes. We started with the BURRATA, ALBACORE TUNA and moved on to CHILLED SEAFOOD TOWER for 4 - from oysters, mussels, clams and huge shrimps to dips. Everything was fresh and portion was huge. We also had the CERTIFIED ANGUS BEEF TOMAHAWK - it was delightful how they prepared this in front of us. SEAFOOD 'NDUJA BUCATINI PASTA, a simple pasta dish yet very delicious. The food is really good but I'm not sure why I had to wait two hours for it. I do come in a large group of seven people though. The fish is flaky and flavorful. This review is for the dome experience. My friends and I went on a weekday for lunch. We only ordered drinks and bread, because we were visiting Vancouver with a pretty ambitious food itinerary, so we had food before and after our reservation. I was a huge fan of the decor: heated dome, cozy pillows and blankets, Spotify set up with multiple suggested playlists (or play your own$, sliding door to maintain warmth/privacy. We also loved our server, Judy -- she kept it real with her suggestions (what's tasty? What's best for the social media photos?) and was completely supportive of our "liquid lunch"! What I wasn't a fan of: the drinks. Most of them were not very tasty; it took me 3-4 different drinks to find something I really liked, and that was only because my friend took one of the virgin cocktails and added a shot of vodka to it. I'm normally not THAT picky and can easily find an enjoyable cocktail. Another major issue was that the drinks are pre made, so we couldn't make any adjustments (for example, sub gin with vodka, take out an ingredient that we're allergic to, etc). It was highly disappointing, given that the prices of the drinks are comparable to those of a cocktail bar, yet the drinks were significantly worse. Our one custom endeavor (the aforementioned addition of vodka to a virgin drink) was an extra $9 CAD -- while tastier than the rest, not too much vodka and took quite a bit of time to prepare. You basically pay for the ambience and the social media experience, but don't get much quality in return. Logistics: - parking in the lot across the way is free. The valet told me it was $8, even after I had told him that we had a reservation at H tasting lounge. I asked again and someone else had to assist and told me that you just have to register your plates with the hostess upon check-in - you get your $100 deposit after you show up to your reservation. We celebrated a birthday with a wonderful group of friends at H Tasting Lounge in an impressive Winterlust Dome outside on their decorated winter themed patio. Reservations are available for up to 6 people which worked out perfectly for our party. We were able to enjoy ourselves and not worry about disturbing others since the dome is somewhat sound proof with house music playing through an amazing system. Although the dome outshined the food and drinks, the night ended with the most enchanting surprise dessert for the birthday boy. They are also offering a Winterlust outdoor dome dining experience for those who want a even more elevated experience! Overall the restaurant has a beautiful setting and food was just as beautiful as the restaurant itself with detailed plating. We ordered the Seafood Chowder + Albacore Tuna + Grilled Octopus + Seafood 'Ndjuda Bucatini Pasta + Grass Fed Tenderloin Steak . The bucatini pasta was a favourite with plenty of flavour and love that they used bucatini pasta - it just soaks up extra sauces in those tiny little straw hole. Only improvement I would recommend is the dishes could be a lot hotter when served. We found dishes were warm in temperature upon arrival so may have been sitting out for a bit before being served. But it could had been because it was a busy season for them so getting all the dishes quickly enough is always a challenge during this time of year. read more

Today my family and I enjoyed lunch in a dome on the waterfront at the Westin Bayshore Hotel. We didn't know what to expect as we'd never been there before, but I wanted something festive and special for my daughter and granddaughter this holiday season, and the dome was it. Everything about it was absolutely first class. We loved the privacy of the dome, where we could play our own music on the sound system and there were no noisy neighbours at the next table. For lunch week days there is a minimum spend of $150, which wouldn't be hard to meet with three of us. Our orders were smash burger with fries ($24), steak frites with a small salad ($35) cauliflower steak with lentils, roasted carrots, squash and various other veggies ($28), and truffle fries ($13). 750ml bottles San Pellegrino sparkling and Evian still water were $8 each. The only rather underwhelming item was the cauliflower steak. It was basically a big chunk of undercooked cauliflower. The diner expected it to be perhaps glazed and caramelized after a long, slow grilling, but it was not that all all. It looked raw, it was hard, and disappointing. When the server, Emily (more about her later) asked how everything was, the vegan in the room was honest and said her meal was disappointing as it just seemed like a hunk of raw cauliflower. She offered to take it back and get a redo, and did. It was somewhat improved, a little softer, more sauce on it, but still disappointing. "I would not order this again," she said, and I was sorry that one of us did not completely enjoy her meal. The fries all around were absolutely delicious, crisp on the outside, fluffy inside, the way they should be. The burger was huge (two patties) with REAL cheese, tomato, lettuce, etc. Came with a pile of fries and the diner was happy and could not eat it all. The steak portion was small (5 oz.), but very tender and tasty. Again, gorgeous fries that stayed crisp. It came with a red wine peppercorn jus that was a lovely addition to the plate. Even the little side salad of arugula and frisee was tasty. No complaints there. For dessert we had to try the freshly made sugar donuts (6) with a cotton candy cloud, whipped cream, honey drizzle and fresh berries $19. This was a fun and delicious ending to the meal, and was shared easily between the three of us. Perhaps the best part of the whole experience was our server, Emily, who was hospitality personified. We all felt she did absolutely everything she could to make sure we felt welcomed and taken care of. While we sit comfortably in our little private dome, the servers have to brave the elements and slippery patios to go back and forth, indoors/outdoors, to take care of their guests. It's winter out there! But that didn't stop Emily from being friendly, attentive and taking care of our every need. We never once had to wonder where she was or feel abandoned. Emily was on the job, and with a smile on her face. When she brought the bill she pointed out that we hadn't yet met the $150 quota (which really surprised me) and suggested we might order something else to make up the $16 difference (if we wanted to). We decided we may as well have another order of the donuts/cotton candy scenario to take out and enjoy later. This was soon brought in a Westin shopping bag, the donuts boxed and the cotton candy separate in a large Ziploc bag. We were never rushed out, as each dome seating is allotted 2.5 hours. We could have stayed longer but left at 2:00 to get a taxi home in the grey drizzle. We are already talking about when we can enjoy the Bayshore's dome experience again. It ends for the season around Mother's Day, to make way for summer patio dining. For my wifes birthday, we decided to splurge a bit and try the winterlust domes. They only have 5, and they are all heated with a heavy glass door to protect you from the elements. Each one has a personalized Ipad/tablet for you to control and play whatever music your heart desires. You have to pre-book online and pre- pay a minimum consumable fee. Lets start with the service, it was impeccable! Our server went above and beyond and made sure we had all we need. Zero complaints there. Always made sure we had water and napkins, and even changed our plates and cutlery after the initial wave of appys. Now unto the food... We started with 3 appys...lobster roll with chips sprinkled with seaweed for that umami taste. Salmon poke on seaweed. And the ever famous seafood tower with snow crab legs, scallop and shrimp ceviche, clams, blow torched oysters, and tiger shrimp cocktails. The lobster roll was really good. Very generous servings of real lobster and not the caned variety. The chips were just ordinary. I could not taste the umaminess And worse of all, they were served cold. The salmon poke was excellent. Very fresh and healthy. Salmon wasnt frozen and the seaweed gave the dish a very nice saltiness contrast. The seafood tower however, was exceptional! Each and every seafood offering was so fresh, as if it was just caught. No fishy smell. It was the seas finest bounty. Each layer and morsel was handled delicately and turned into a masterpiece. Their coconut scallop and shrimp ceviche was probably the best i have ever had in Vancouver. The tiger shrimps were very plump and juicy, the clams, scallops, oysters and mussels all so good. Only problem was, i believe it was a bit overpriced for the qty you get. They couldve added more to add more value. For mains we had the wild mushroom gemelli with salmon, sable fish, fish tacos, and the steak. The wild mushroom gemelli was another winner. Pasta perfectly cooked and the salmon portion was huge. Skin nicely charred and the meat juicy and moist. The steak was just average. A bit under temperature when served but cooked perfectly as desired. The best fish for mains for me was the sable fish. The from the presentation to the taste, it was amazing! Fish was cooked perfectly, inside still hot and the flesh was succulent and not dry. Very good execution. The worse dish by far were the fish tacos. Not only was such a dish out of place on the menu, but the tacos themselves were bland. The tortilla was cold. As if it just came from a pack. Not toasted nor seasoned with a garlic spread Or something. The fish, not crispy and a bit soggy. Tasted bland and under seasoned as well. No side dish or even a lemon or like wedge or any kind of sauce. Even the stems of the coriander was still present on top of the dish, as you can see on the pic. Whoever manned this station was clearly not paying attention or didnt care how the dish went out. If not for the freshness of the other offerings, would've been a 3 star review. Totally out of place on the menu and in such a fine establishment coming from the Westin! I was utterly shocked to see bar food on the winterlust menu. For dessert, they surprised my wife with a slice of the classic birthday cake and their signature cotton candy. Very good surprise and a nice touch coming from the establishment. Again, for going above and beyond ...4 stars. Hopefully they will lower the minimum purchase price in the near future. It is simply too much food for a family of 4. For 6 yes, but not 4. Also, would be nice to upgrade the menu and offer more elaborate dishes like lamb, or wagyu, or ribeye steaks, anything to add more value and weight, instead of fish tacos. Was visiting Vancouver and was lucky enough to snag a reservation and eat here for lunch! PRO TIP: come during their happy hour!! Had to meet a $200 minimum (I forget) and especially if you come with a bigger group your money can go further!! The dome itself has its own speakers and sound system that you can control & plug your phone into. It also has an AC unit and you can blast the heater or the AC!! The dome completely closes so you feel like you're in your own bubble, literally. The food and drinks were solid with great presentation. We got the large seafood platter and i thought it was perfect for two, even though it says 3-4 people. The seafood wasn't as fresh as you'd think for the price :( Waiters do their best to attend to your party but I can see how it's a bit hard to see you trying to call them over! Overall I think it's a great special occasion lunch spot. read more

This review is for the dinner at the Winterlust dome experience at H Tasting Lounge. This entire experience was truly phenomenal. From the adjustable heated glass domes with spotify playlist alongside an outdoor fireplace, to the incredible food, which was just over the top, as well as the attentive service, and the lovely company. We ordered quite a few things. Some of which weren't pictured. But I'll provide comments to my favourites: Truffle fries were amazing. Crispy and the sauce(s) were amazing too. Cronuts were incredible (part of the dessert platter). I cannot even describe the level of amazing. It felt like a cross between a donut, a croissant, and a churro. I ate like 5 of them, I just couldnt get enough of them. Also part of the dessert platter, was the tiramisu, which was just amazing. The coffee flavour really stood out. I also had a bite of the opera cake, which was a tea flavour, which altho wasnt my favourite, was still very delicious. And the white cho cheesecake and gelato got gobbled before I had a chance to touch it. So that should tell you something about how much my dinner mates enjoyed them. The olive oil that came with the bread was incredible. The candle melted down and the wick was edible. The incredible edible candle. Haha. Saw what I did there? I also ordered the beet salad and sablefish. Both were excellent. In fact the sablefish came with this savory soy mashed potatoes. Ive never had mashed potatoes that tasted so good. It was all just incredibly amazing. And because the party after us was running late we got to spend a bit longer in our dome. So we went back for Winterlust 2021 (December) and really enjoyed the upgraded solid domes! The service was warm, friendly and professional. The charcuterie plate and burrata plates were good, and they were very kind in providing gluten free bread for our daughter. They also surprised us with a lovely gluten free birthday cake for her, which was very sweet of them. Alas, the food quality has gone downhill since our visit in February 2021 for Winterlust. We ordered the pork belly, which was a soft, fatty piece of colder-than-room-temperature pork (bleh). The tartar was forgettable - and if it was my first tartar, I'd probably never order it again. Given how good these dishes were in February, it was a disappointment. The Caesar salad was... meh. My husband and I weren't inspired to bother ordering any more food. Our daughter had their steak, which she said was "ok." We had an amazing bottle of champagne and then a Brunello (I've included photos of the bottles), which helped salvage our dinner! Overall, we still had a lovely evening for her birthday, but hopefully the kitchen works out it's kinks. read more

This review is for the Secret Garden Dome Experience at H Tasting Lounge. I have nothing but great things to say. There were 5 domes (can fit up to 6 people) and they all came equipped with a heater, Bose speaker, and iPad. There were Spotify playlists queued up so you could choose the music you wanted. We had a dedicated server who was super attentive and the menu had lots of options, something for everyone. Just a note, although it can accommodate 6 people, I'd recommend no more than 4 people just so everyone has room to eat and be comfy. I highly recommend this experience!!! read more
