It is a great setting but TERRIBLE service We sat near the water. The bartender walked over to us we assumed to take our orders and said that we had to go to the bar to order. Meanwhile there were 4 other bartneders/waiters standing doing NOTHING. We went up and got our drinks and got menus. She came back to us, AGAIN we thought to take orders and said we had to get up and go back to the bar to order. NOT sure what kind of service that was????? Food was good, the locations is amazing. My friend and I went the other night, the atmosphere is very nice and open. We ordered some cocktails and water for drinks. Never got our water so we kept having to remind them about it till we finally got it. The cocktails were good but was unsure why the table across from us got way bigger cups then our dinky plastic cups because we were not aware of any other sizes. Everything about this restaurant was average and generic. On a Sunday at 7:00 pm (3 hours before their kitchen closes) we were turned away with them telling us they didn't have any more food. We tried again on a Saturday night. The inside bar was closed as they said they didn't have a bartender for the night. The service was pretty fast, but the food was forgettable. The best item we ordered was the big soft pretzel. Our waiter was friendly, but the staff seemed a bit overmatched with their duties. We don't be eating here again. read more

Went for first time today.. by far the best place in geneva on lake for a great brewery made beer and amazing menu of unique items. The steamed mussel app was perfect. Came here based on a suggestion at another local brewery. They had two house beers on tap the pale ale and lager which were both decent. Got the pulled pork nachos which were delicious. The chips had a bit of a spicy seasoning on them which in my thought definitely made the dish. The bar staff was awesome. Very friendly and a tentative to us. read more

Not at all what I expected in Gevena. The food in this area is always underwhelming. Well not now. This place will bring GOTL out of the 60s and make it a true destination place. We found this place while exploring the strip and were drawn to the outdoor bar and patio overlooking the lake. The views and atmosphere were wonderful and the staff were friendly. The food was good, not great, but we only had appetizers and drinks. My husband loved the beer they brew there. They had 2 choices which was surprising for a brewery. We had a baby and were there early but it seems like it has a cool night life. We would return if in the area again . read more

After 30 minutes at the outside bar-no service. Moved to the nearly empty inside bar, 20 minutes later we were finally served overpriced Mini beers! Although there were empty tables we were told it would be an hour wait. We agreed to wait and then were informed the kitchen would be closed 1/2 hour after our seating would occur so we they couldn't accommodate us. Why didn't she say that to begin with? I took my mom here for a birthday meal, and the back patio with the view of the lake is fantastic. I was a little disappointed that their own brews haven't been approved yet, but they have a good selection of beers from elsewhere to make up for it. We got the pretzel and beer cheese appetizers and they were amazing. Then we got the fish fry and walleye sandwiches. They were extremely good and the Cajun chips they came with were also very tasty. Their serving sizes were quite large so we both had to take some home too. Our waiter was also very nice and very knowledgeable about the menu. Really disappointed . Out of town Friends and Family get together, GOLT Brewery policy states not to sit larger parties ( over 8 ) together. They could not accomodate a 12 person sitting. Wife and I stopped in for our 3 year anniversary. We have stopped here many times since, and this isn't our first time we had a bad experience. We tried to stop in for dinner the other day and we couldn't. However, they were open but we were told only appetizers. Brews their own beer . Only two of their own are on tap. Both are good . Nice view of the lake . Weird food service rule . You could not order sides only . We have 3 vegetarians that wanted sides . They were willing to pay more to create their dinner. They were refused and the manager was even sent over to say no . As if we were doing something totally unacceptable . So two people didn't get dinner at all and the other ordered a chicken entree just to get the sides. My son got the steak . It was not trimmed and the fat was not seared. I recommend going for the view , the beer and maybe an appetizor . Not a place to enjoy dinner. And last but not least . There was a vent leaking in the ceiling of the dining room. My husband and I decided to give it another try,as we wanted to have a nice meal on the lake. I ordered the chicken tender basket with fries this time, thinking that it would be a safe option and difficult to mess up. What I received was ridiculously overpriced, disgusting, inedible, preformed nuggets of mystery meat. I could have ordered from the McDonald's dollar menu and gotten a better meal. The bill for an over cooked burger, chicken nuggets, a pretzel and 1 iced tea was $37. Our entire meal required no preparation, as it came directly from the box and into the deep fryer. Didn't get everything that the menu said we were to get and way over priced for portions. Would not return. I got the Lake Erie fish fry, and it was more of a greasy batter than fish. Overview: the concept of this place is spot-on, but after two visits, both of which were within two weeks of each other in July 2016, it is clear that there is definite room for improvement. I visited the second time partially out of convenience but also because I really liked the atmosphere so much the first time around, that I wanted to give it a second chance. The good: awesome lake views from the back deck, great ambiance with people and live music, the friendliness of the staff, friendly management making the rounds and attempting to make sure the wait staff is on top of things - all of this = top-notch. I would stop here for a beer/drink any day and enjoy the hell out of it. The not so good (yet) i.e. where GOTL needs to work on their game is within two key areas: the food and the service. It seems to be brand new, and the wait staff all look very young, and it's possible they are just getting their start in the biz. Great place for it of course as Geneva on the Lake is known for its seasonal spots and employing local high school kids and young adults, so perhaps it's to be expected. The wait staff needs to learn quickly how to be attentive and how to multitask. While our server was very pleasant to speak to, we waited a long time for drinks, a long time for food, and a long time for the check, and a passing hostess, when asked if she could find our server so we could get the check, responded with "well I don't know who your server is...".. Yeah. I believe this all to be a training issue. Easily fixable. The menu boasts many great items typically found in a gastropub-style restaurant with a couple local fish dishes. The first time around I tried the Lake Erie Walleye. Flavor-wise it was amazing. The downside is that it was completely full of bones. I don't think it's supposed to be like that, and I'm glad I was eating it slowly. The second visit, I tried the Yellow Perch fish fry. It was more breading than fish, and the breading was overly greasy. I got the chips as a side with BBQ seasoning. It was late in the evening, not long before the kitchen was closing, so I must have gotten the bottom of the barrel chips because they were greasy to the point of almost being transparent, and the BBQ seasoning was nothing more than a little pile of dried BBQ-flavored seasoned salt. My wife had a buffalo chicken sandwich that was gristly and almost undercooked (no no for poultry). If GOTL could just up their game in these two key areas (both equally important), this place could really help put Geneva on the Lake on the map. Come on guys I'm rooting for you! read more

Seldom do I feel the need to write a review, but my experience at GOTL Brewery this passed weekend influenced me to do so. As we walked in the, the hostess greeted us letting us know that there would be a wait. We saw 2, dirty tables, and several open tables in the back area. However, we went up to the bar to wait. After 20 minutes, the hostess went over to the tables in the bar, cleaned them off, the somewhat reluctantly sat us. Needless to say, we were already annoyed. Next, our waitress had no idea about the menu and had to go back to the kitchen 3 times during ordering to ask what things were. Not to mention, she had a poor attitude and made us feel as if we were bothering here. The icing on the cake was my friends order. She asked for no cheese because of an allergy. The pasta came out with cheese. She sent it back---her next plate came back with cheese AGAIN. We sat so long waiting for the server that my friend took it up to the server station to let them know there was still cheese on the dish. The server argued with her, telling her that it wasn't cheese, it was artichoke! Um no!! She grabbed the pasta out of her hand and stormed to the kitchen. Throughout this experience, none of us got a refill on our drinks or anything else we ask for for that matter. I was just disgusted by the entire experience. Really, really poor attitudes. I'd deal with slow service if there was even a bit of effort put forward to be hospitable. read more

If you are looking for a relaxing enjoyable day, this is the place to go. A very large selection of craft beer and the food was amazing. The inside is newly remodeled with A/C which was nice for a break from the heat or if you like to eat indoors. We sat on the deck and had the best view of the lake anywhere on the strip and the servers were very attentive. Can't wait to try their own beer on tap on my next visit. Only problem was the Prime Rib was sold out, but that just tells me I need to get there a little earlier. read more

After dining at this establishment my wife and I both really miss the place that it used to be. Just to start we were put in the dining room that is so ungodly loud with echoes that we were three feet away from each other and couldn't hear a word we were saying to each other. The waitress came by to tell us the specials not that it mattered because we couldn't hear her. We decided to head over to the bar to have dinner there so we could actually gear each other. The bartender was extremely friendly and very helpful. However when I ordered the stuffed chicken and the chicken came with a whole bunch of sour cream just slapped on the top of it under a bunch of melted cheese and nothing in the chicken I was a little curious as to why they called it stuffed chicken. However compared to my wife I got off easy. Her steak was undercooked, and her side was not what she ordered. She told the bartender that it was undercooked she wanted it well done, it came out medium rare at best. Once it came back out, which only took minutes, my wife cut into it again and it looked exactly the same as it did when she sent it back. At this point she was so disgusted she didn't want to eat here. The bartender went to get the manager who I found out that his name is AJ to cancel her food order and take it off our bill. AJ was standing right in front of us, obviously knew the problems, and didn't have the "guts" to even say anything to us, there was no I'm sorry or some kind of excuse like we have a new cook or something. This is one of the worst establishments I've ever been to just based on the management alone. It's terrible when you have someone running this that really could care less about someone's experience there or if they enjoyed themselves or not but they'll take your money and a heartbeat. The only redeeming quality about this place was everyone that works there except the cook and AJ. read more
