Went today, and extremely happy with my care! Got 3 fillings done in one day by an amazing hospitable care team! The women were very caring and sweet when I was nervous since I haven't been to the dentist in over 12 years. I am very comfortable there, and feel in good hands! Everything is clean and professional and the desk is informative and kind too! The office guy also taught me about everything to do with the mouth! Payment was easy and everything was prompt and straight forward! Very easy care! Worked with my work dental plan, and I was able to pay my out of pocket for today's needs! I got my appointment luckily same day and good timing, first appointment there, and was taken care of wonderfully! I couldn't ask for a better dental office! I haven't felt this safe since the last dentist and he took care of me for almost my entire life thank you gotta smile dentistry! You really made me smile!! read more

Im so heavily torn and disappointed to be writing this review. I have been going to this office for over 4 years now. Over the last year or so the customer service, follow up, and treatment have declined drastically and gone down hill. I've only kept going due to the more better service from Hector (front receptionist) and Fatima(hygienist). Here's my most recent and disappointing experiences. A couple months ago I took my 3 year old daughter for a cleaning. While they are not a children specialty dentistry I was assured I could take her there so I did. The dentist was supposed to examine her teeth the day of her appointment but decided to leave early and didn't tell anyone including the hygienist. How I know? Because she went looking for him and had to come back to tell me he had apparently left early and didn't say anything. No notice just got up and left. After that I had scheduled an appt for SureSmile (similar to Invisalign) I got my consult and that was okay. I was asked to go back to pick up my trays so I did BUT I had to call to see if my trays were ready because I never got a call. The day I called they said oh yeah they are here you can come. I show up to my appt on time and almost 30 mins into my scheduled time I get called back. I mention to the hygienist (not Fatima) oh I thought maybe you forgot about me I have been waiting. She didn't really engage or acknowledge that I had been waiting. She goes uhm well yeah we are short staffed so sometimes you have to wait. I said i understand that but some communication would have been great. She became defensive and said well you can come back some other time if you have to be somewhere! I told her excuse me I an on my lunch break and had already made arrangements to be here i carved out an hour of my day to be here so no I didn't want to leave and reschedule. She proceeded to tell me she didn't want to rush because she had a lot to go over about my trays. I said no I'm not going to reschedule how about you start now because we are 30 mins into my scheduled appt time and we haven't even started. She does a fine job explaining everything and tells me next steps. Next steps we're supposedly that I would be getting a call from them in a couple weeks with my new set of SureSmile trays. It's been over 2 weeks and have not heard from anyone. I decided to call and the girl that answered was confused why I only got one set of trays and why I hadn't been booked for another appt. Mind you SureSmile is not covered by insurance. It's almost $5k for this service out of pocket. I paid a $900 deposit and this is the type of service I receive?! I find myself to be a reasonable person but I feel anyone in my position would feel the same way. This poor customer service and treatment is just awful. It's unacceptable but it doesn't seem the right management and level of care is happening at this office anymore. Unfortunately, I don't believe I can break my treatment plan I have otherwise I would have already. I've given them too many opportunities to improve but have seen no improvement. As a Sr Manager at one of the largest Healthcare companies in CA what I would tell my friends and family is... Save yourself the headache, time and money. Go elsewhere. read more

I took my significant other here and it has been nothing but a headache. Didn't fully numb him before prying his tooth out while he was wincing in pain. Dr. Jacobo was clearly in a hurry and as I was told by the office lady in front, Dr. Jacobo was just about to go on vacation to Mexico (this was in Sept 2023) and to call the emergency number to get a hold of him. When my s.o. got a dry socket he said to use coconut oil. Absolutely shockingly bad. My God, what a terrible joke. We didn't go back to finish the implant because wtf would we? Seems like it's really hard to find quality dental care in this town. Never had a problem in my life before moving to this area. read more

Patronizing, referrals to places not covered, never got any care. That's the summary. The level of insulting: the lady dentist, I am being generous here, looked at my teeth. She called over a dental assistant who was female, and someone from the front desk who was male, both of whom were young enough to be my children, and instead of talking to me, faced them and said, "(My name) is a very special person." I interrupted her, from where I was sitting in the dental chair, and said, no I'm not. Because I am a patient just like any other patient and want her to talk to me when she's telling me the results of my examination. And she started again and did the same thing. It was as if they were my mother and my father and I was underage. In the end what she told them and not me was that they would give me a referral because they couldn't handle the work. I ended up getting four referrals. One was to a dental school who told me they couldn't take care of the problem which was an extraction. One of the referrals was more than a 2-hour drive, and nobody wants to drive 2 hours back from an extraction. Two of the referrals weren't covered. Both dental schools weren't covered by my insurance but we're covered by denti-cal which I also have. Neither school was within a 1 hour drive. ​That that added almost 2 months before I got treatment. What's ironic is that I got treatment finally on a place almost across the street from them. If they had given me a referral no more than a quarter of a mile away, I would have been spared insult and a lot of pain. read more

Will never go there again! My family got ripped off twice too many times. Forget to cancel your appointments 48 hours in advance and they will charge as much as the cost of cleaning. Never had this issues with our former dentist and the only reason we switched to Gotta Smile because of a new employment insurance. They scheduled both of my kids at the same time and only call to remind me after it was to late to cancel, charging me $110 for cancellation fees. The appointments were on Monday and I called the Saturday before to cancel the appointments but it still wasn't enough time for them to accept it. I am beyond upset right now. $110 for being unable to go to the appointments! And last month, my husband got a deep cleaning there and came out with only one side cleaned. What?!? No one ever told him before agreeing to pay that they would only clean one side of the mouth. Then they told him to come back for the other half which is a separate cost. When he asked them why no one explained these separate cleanings, they said it was stated on the invoice which we couldn't understand because they were in dental notations and abbreviations. We were $145 out of pocket for only half mouth cleaning. Imagine going for a haircut and come out with only one side done. read more

Never ever again. Took over 4 hours to do a root canal, he drilled too deep on a filling and now I have to get another root canal. They took 13 Xrays of my face because the computer (running windows XP) was not working but they just keep shooting my face with radiation until it finally made an image on the screen. Bleach and other bad tasting liquids were kept in the back of my throat without clearing it out the ENTIRE Time, even with a dental assistant. The suction was just bent into a semi circle and left hanging in my mouth. The very worst of all, towards the end he was drilling out a tooth and it hurt so bad I almost jumped out my seat. He gave me a shot and IMMEDIATELY started working again. I was jumping in pain, AND HE Kept drilling telling me to just deal with it and hold on he is almost done. He drilled 3 separate times for 3-4 seconds each with excruciating pain telling me to just hold on. At the end I was literally shaking and gripping my belt and cellphone. Then they said they were done and showed me where to pay and then I left. They gave me NO INFORMATION on anything, what I could eat or drink, how long my mouth would be tender, what recommendations after the work NOTHING. No info on aftercare or anything. Also, during the drilling on the cavities he used a bit in his drill that shook my whole head and face very hard. The vibrations were hurting my other parts of my mouth it was shaking so bad. I dont know what it was but he was try to go super fast or the bit he used was very big but it was terrible feeling. Run Away. Far away, when a dentist drills on you and you are in major pain AND THEN KEEPS GOING AND JUST TELLS YOU TO HOLD ON, it should never be like that EVER. Please do not make the mistake of going here. -5 stars. read more

I don't like to write negative reviews but this felt more like a word of warning. I went to Gotta Smile on a friends recommendation around 2 1/2 years ago. I cracked a tooth so I needed a root canal and a crown. Their offices were dingy and they kept trying to upsell "invisalign" but I trusted my friend so stuck with it. I had to have my x-rays done twice as the first assistant was literally tipsy the first time. She made me use a device in my mouth to stretch my lips for the x-rays and after 20 minutes of this thing I felt like I was being tortured. I had to ask for a break and she preceded to taunt me for being a baby, and blaming me for the bad x-rays. My next visit to correct them, they told me she no longer worked there. I didn't know then but the root canal was done by a general dentist, on a molar, which I found out later should be done by an oral surgeon or endodontist. Again I had no idea about it then but assumed it went OK, though he kept trying to start before the shots kicked in and was agitated when I flinched in pain. I later found out it didnt actually go well at all. Then came the crown. 4 temporary crowns cracked. 4...Multiple visits and revisits to correct it. The crown itself was late and came back the wrong size and had to be refitted 3 different times. It wasn't long after that I felt pain and felt a gross taste in my mouth, it turned out it was getting infected because the root canal wasn't done properly. More visits of them having to clean it out, until finally the dentist said I needed to see an Endodontist. "A what?" I asked. "An endodontist, they specialize in things like this." he explained. "They specialize in fixing what you did?" I blurted out. He then began to babble about how good the root canal was but then showed me an x-ray with a shadowy area where they didn't quite get all the way in, and that was what was most likely causing the puss and pain and infection. I'll never forget how upset I was and I saw my friend after and asked him, "Hey I've had tons of problems with Gotta Smile, do have issues with them?" "Oh I don't go to them" "You don't?? Well then why did you recommend them?!" "Oh, I'm trying to get with the girl who does their invisalign sales. I go to a dentist in Brookside." "BROOKSIDE. You son of a b" Our boss walked by, otherwise I would have ripped him a new one. I put off going to the endodontist as I was literally afraid of the dentist at that point. I would be damned if I was going to go with someone these butchers recommended. Every 6 months or so it would get infected again and I would have to get antibiotics until last month it got infected AND formed an abscess. That scared me enough to finally go back to a dentist. I was so shaken from the whole previous encounter, the new dentist under my current insurance could tell I was visibly nervous. I honestly thought I could break down as I sat there, completely afraid everytime they touched me. The new dentist did everything they could to calm me, and talked me through the process and I left there thanking them for repairing my image of what a dentist is and should be. The downside is the 857 dollars I wasted on Gotta Smile is gone, and I wish I could join with every other person I know theyve abused and sue the christ out of them, but if not, this word of warning can at least prevent others from suffering like I did. read more

it sucks that you have to give them 1 star because I'd love to give them 0. By far the WORST dentist experiance I have ever had. Their finance department sucks, they can't seem to return my money to me for work they charged me for and never even did! they are horrible at returning calls, I've been dealing with this problem for over 2 years! They always say sorry and never act on it. Oh did I mention the implant I got fell out after a year? my new dentist that I have that actually tries to make sure I am not through constant pain through the whole process said its the oddest impant she has even seen. the gums weren't protected so now the bone has basically deteriorated away and I've got bigger problems that what I first started off with. I guess I should have listened to my friends who said cheaper isn't always better and thats why they stopped going to Dr. Jacobo a long time before I went. I figured, with time people get better. NOPE!! Do your research everyone! Dr Jacobo and his staff are fabulous. They are always happy to see my family and I. They are friendly and personable. During procedures they go over what will be done and what to expect during and after and will check up on you to make sure you are doing okay, offering a drink, more anesthetic, etc. I really like the reminder text message I get the day before and the day of our appointments. I dont usually write reviews but: I have to say the ONE STAR is actually for the staff. Dr. Jacobo has hired a great staff but he himself; provided a terrible experience. I've never had any issues with my teeth in the past or an unpleasant experience with any dentist I get regular check ups, never had braces and the the last cavities I had were when I was 12 years old. Im now 37. I was assigned Gotta Smile due to my employers DHMO plan change. Dr. Jacobo found 2 cavities at my visit; He filled one two high the other two low... not out of the ordinary but I kept getting a shooting pain when I bit down; so I called to have him fix it. When I went in for him to fix it I told him which tooth was giving me the problem. He asked the assistant for my records... and then began to work on a tooth that had NOTHING wrong with it. I don't know if he actually viewed the X-rays the assistant brought or not, but I had to stop him because he was working on the WRONG tooth. He then said he was sorry, but had to give me another shot in the area of the RIGHT tooth with the problem. (I don't know how he didn't notice). He began to work on the correct tooth and told me he couldn't get it correct so he asked the assist. for the file and began to file the tooth above it down to make the bite even. (it had no problems with it) I stopped him again.. He looked annoyed and I after that told him, he was making me uncomfortable with his uncertainty, and I preferred the other dentist work on it instead. He annoyingly said fine... he told me I didn't have to come back if I didn't want too; left me in the chair and told the assist. to clean me up . I thought he was totally out of line and obnoxious. YOU only get one set of teeth, do you mind if I keep them Dr.Jacobo. The other dentist; did fix it and expressed his apologizies on Dr.Jacobo's behalf. Also, during the visit with Dr. Jacobo he said I should have all 4 wisdom teeth pulled. I was referred to a specialists. That was a little too much for me considering I only had 2 cavities to fill, yet he almost pushed me into major dental work. I'm going to a new office now.. with a much better experience and I have been told I have adequate space in my mouth for my wisdoms and no cavities in them.. its ok to keep them. read more

The staff here is great. They are always friendly and professional. My family and I are always able to get timely appointments, usually within the week and for emergencies they see us right away. The office is always clean. The dentist himself could maybe be a little more communicative (he's kind of quiet), but he will readily answer any questions you have. read more

I've been coming to gotta smile since for 2 years and I have had pretty good experiences. The only reason I gave only 3 stars is because my last 2 root canals have been very painful to the point where I cannot eat right for weeks. The first time this happen they sent me to the endodontics but by the time my appointment with them was the pain went away. This time I'm waiting two weeks to see if the pain goes away on its own before sounding the alarm. However that's not all this review is about after the dentist finished part one of the root canal and the dentist wanted some X-rays the dental assistant wanted me to close my mouth and I couldn't because they left the bite block in my mouth so I couldn't close my mouth. So I told her the bite block is still in my mouth she laugh and said her fault. Then when the root canal was finish she was scanning my tooth for the permanent crown and with dental tool she was holding my tongue down extra hard so hard that it hurt really bad. I had to tell her that she was hurting me and this time there was no apology. I know I have a wondering tongue and it was close to the end of the business day but there's a way in which to get things done in a timely manner without hurting the patient. Worst experience since I have been coming here. Other than these experiences I love gotta smile and hopefully I won't need anymore root canals. Staff always greets me by my first name. read more

Wow. All I can say is, "WOW!". As new residents of Stockton, my partner and I randomly selected Gotta Smile as our new dental service providers. We were immediately greeted by an plethora of staff who were genuinely happy to serve their clients. From the front desk, to the hygienists to Dr Cajee -- all were warm and professional.
