I've been coming to Gourmet Donuts for many years. Although the ownership changed several years ago, the quality and customer service has never wavered. Tony is the guy who makes the delicious donuts. He's always friendly, and his team always has a smile waiting for customers. Although they don't have any of the specialty donuts that some stores offer, they have all of the traditional donuts you come to expect -- old fashioned, glazed, sprinkles, cake, twists, and coffee rolls. They also have kolaches (spicy and regular). I always grab my donuts to go, but there are chairs and tables to enjoy your donuts in the store. The dining area is basic and somewhat sterile, but it gets the job done. Gourmet Donuts also sells a variety of cold drinks and hot coffee if you're thirsty or need a drink to go. They sometimes sell out of donuts, but you can call Tony and he'll set aside the donuts you want. There's also a drive thru window if you don't want to come inside. read more

Still one of the best donut shops in MJ. The old fashioned donuts, glazed twist, and the tiger tails are all so delicious and always fresh no matter what time of day. This time around we hit the drive-thru and got a half dozen and two kolaches. These might be the best kolaches I've had from a donut shop. The sweet beard surrounding the donut melted in my mouth and it was filled with cheese! The hot dog had a nice snap and was just a tad spicy. This is a hole in the wall kind of place serving old fashioned donuts. They have a seating area inside and a drive-thru. Get here early because once they're gone, that's it. I almost always read Yelp reviews before I go somewhere. This time the Yelp reviews made me super excited about having a Blueberry Fritter because I love blueberries. They no longer serve those, the nice man replied "only Apple Fritters". So I scoped out the expansive case looking for something else in order to give this place a try. I found a large Blueberry Muffin and decided on that. In my excitement about the Blueberry Fritter, I had forgotten that it's cash only unless you spend more than $5. Don't make my mistake. The nice man replied "one for tomorrow too?" But I decided to get two Strawberry filled donuts instead. First time customers no longer get a free donut, but it's really not that expensive. My large muffin was $1.99 and my filled donuts were $1.39 each. This place probably deserves better than 3 stars (from a donut lover) and I'd give 3.5 but they don't let you give half stars. I'm not a big donut fan so I can't really judge those (it tasted exactly like the donuts of my childhood) and I literally only came here to try out the Blueberry Fritters, which didn't happen. I generally try to only say good things about donut shops I visit but unfortunately this was not a good experience. I heard others rave about Gourmet Donuts in Mt. Juliet, but I was very disappointed with their selection and, in particular, this over cooked apple fritter, which scrapped the inside of my cheek. I'm new to the area so thought I'd try this place out . I did an Uber eats order and didn't receive part of my order . The other part of my order , an egg and cheese croissant was so cold the slice cheese felt like it came right out the wrapper ...not even tempted to try my cinnamon donut . The gal seemed a little miffed that we were there, so customer service isn't good, but frankly, when they have a delicious product that you take home & devour, does that really bother me a whole lot? When Nader was alive these were the best donuts around. He was so friendly and customer oriented. The new owners are supposed to be some members of his family & they are supposed to have his recipes. The donuts are okay, but the staff isn't friendly. There are some of Nader's larger donuts that you can't seem to get anymore. I've come at 5 am noon & just before closing and I'm always told that there not out yet. I don't recommend going here anymore. read more

Mmmmmmmmmmm. The only way to make their apple fritters better is apparently to make it with blueberries which they also have. I'd never even heard of blueberry fritters but wow. Really I wasn't even much a fan of apple fritters before I'd tried them here. I was always a plain glazed person but I get kind of 'kid in a candy shop' here & order way too much ... & then end up eating way too much! Be sure to GO EARLY if you want to try it out as they seem to always sell out & close shop before posted closing hours! Also- they have a minimum of $5 spend for credit card purchase (which makes perfect sense) so bring cash or prepare to buy way too much delicious saturated/trans fat because it's all super low priced so you leave w/ like a 1/2 dozen for $5. My opinion on the quality of the donuts hasn't changed. But their inconsistent hours is driving me crazy. It's 1 on a Thursday and they are out of here. Forget about the normal posted hours. Forget about calling ahead to make sure they're open or they have your favorite donuts. they close when they want to and they don't answer the posted phone #. It wouldn't be so bad if I was a local but I'm not. I stop by when I'm in the area but it's a total roll of the dice whether they will be open or not. Smh read more

Donuts are okay but quite honestly I've never had a bad donut. I've been twice being that it's really the only donut shop in mount juliet. The second time I went, however was probably enough to make me just skip this place and drive to shipleys in donelson. I went on a Saturday morning and as I walked in, I was met with a little shock at just how empty the place was. They didn't have one thing left but maybe 2 breakfast sandwiches in a holding box. As I looked around to make sure I wasn't being pranked or maybe they were bringing more out from the back the employees told me "we're out" "sold out".... wait. What?! (I think to myself) Sold out at 10:00 am on a SATURDAY?! The time when all the kids are out of school and all the parents are off from work?????! So, they offered me a free coffee. Which is why I gave the second star. I'm sorry but you have to do better than that in my book. I've worked in restaurants for many years and if you're using the proper sales forecasts and other tools you don't run into these kinds of issues. This wasn't a tiny goof. It was a major oversight. One star is a hard review to give, but ever since the older gentleman sold this shop everything has gone wrong. The mom and pop atmosphere, hometown feel is gone. Very good donuts but the owner is rude! Last time I was there, I asked if they had any gluten free. The owner blatantly said, "You've already asked that before, I already told you no. I don't know why you keep asking." First of all, I didn't even remember asking, granted that I've only been in that place three times but even if I did, he shouldn't have answered that way to a customer. He's also doesn't talk nice to the new young employees who are still learning the register or getting orders. I don't think he cares what he says in front of customers. Gourmet Donuts was my second stop on a tour of bakeries along US 70 this morning. I'd been aware if them for some time, but never made the trip out. I wish I had visited sooner! The store is nestled in a small shopping center along TN 171. Look for a yellow sign about discount tobacco. The store itself is about average size for a donut or bagel store. There are two display counters, a drink fridge, and a small eating area. Donuts are in the right display case, other baked goods on the left. The array of donuts was stunning. Most were cake or filled yeast donuts. The cake donuts ran the typical range of chocolate, white, and frosted varieties of the same. The real highlight was a red velvet cake donut, available with or without sweet cream cheese in the hole, which the gentleman up front recommended and stated was his favorite. I was under the impression this was the proprietor, but I'm not sure. The yeast donuts had fillings like chocolate, lemon, custard, and vanilla. I saw baklava in a small domed repository next to the register, and bagels on the counter. The prices were good. A dozen donuts and a cinnamon twist for around ten bucks! Sure, a big chain could be cheaper, but this is no big chain. The staff was friendly. They take credit cards with a $5 minimum. I carefully selected an array of products to get a good sample. I've been eating slivers of donuts all morning, and a few whole donuts, and I'm good and sugar buzzed. What I can tell you is that these are the single best donuts I've ever had. They lean more towards cake donuts, which is a big plus in my book. They are dense and moist inside, but the frosting was dry and with a hint of snap, just as it should be. The filled donuts weren't as good, still great, but maybe not so different from most places that offer them. But those cake donuts are a gem, especially the red velvet ones, a real asset to the Nashville Metro Area. They are worth however far you have to drive to get them. read more

Tasty doughnuts for a great price. You can get a half a dozen for about $4.50 and a dozen for about $7.99. This shop offers a great selection of donuts including the red velvet cream cheese, as well as a wide variety of bottled beverages including sodas, milk, and juices. If you want the biggest selection of doughnuts then you may want to get there early as they run out of many varieties fast. The owner was very friendly and offered me a free sample after learning that it was my first time there. Another convenient feature is the drive-thru. SCORE! Best doughnuts middle Tennessee. Not only are they really tasty and rich, but they're reasonably priced and really nice. I came in a while back, and I don't think they were taking credit cards, they apologized and even gave me a couple doughnut holes and asked me to come back. It was a shame that I waited so long, but it was totally worth it when I did get back. They loaded me up with far more than I ordered at a very reasonable price (I have a guess why, but that's not important); they treated me very well, and their doughnuts are really tasty. They have a weight to Dunkin Donuts, but fluffier. Their glaze is similar to Krispy Kreme, but it doesn't have that weird aftertaste. Found another independent business in Mt. Juliet where I can get a cup of coffee and sit down and work on good, free wifi. I've driven past this place a few different times but never really thought about it having coffee and wifi since it was just a donut shop. I recently pulled into the parking lot to turn around though and noticed a wifi sticker on their door and that they had expanded with more seating (not sure when that occurred). So, today I came in to give them a try. I got a couple of donuts to serve as my breakfast and lunch and a large coffee. Service was super friendly and very helpful. Nothing too extravagant for coffee, but they do have a variety of complimentary coffee creamers and free refills. Sometimes that's all you need, especially when you want to try and avoid the normal $4-5 for a coffee drink at other places. The donuts were tasty as well. A nice combo. While I was checking out though I noticed they also have hand-dipped ice-cream options with a variety of topics for you to add to your scoops. They also make made-to-order deli sandwiches with a variety of meats, breads, cheese and toppings. Another plus in my book if you're planning on staying awhile. The wifi speeds were really good as well. Far better than you're normally going to get at your local chain brand like Starbucks or Panera. 22+Mbps down and 10+Mbps upload speeds. The tables and chairs are pretty standard and commercial grade, lacking in atmosphere from your other coffee shops, but fine just the same. If you're looking for a place to work, give these folks a try. I enjoy supporting local, independent mom & pop places whenever possible. And remember, if you're going to go into an establishment and spend some time using their table and wifi, be sure and support them by buying more than the minimum. This place was fantastic! Friendly staff, big selection of donuts, and delicious donuts! I had a smoked sausage sandwich wrapped in tinfoil from the front window, and I should have stuck with the donuts. The sandwich felt more like a hotdog. I just didn't understand what I was ordering. The donuts were fantastic. I ordered a Boston Cream and the man from the front came over and brought me a warm glazed donut, which was SO good!!! It melted as i bit into it. I was pretty disappointed after eating my donuts. To me they taste like regular donuts, nothing special. I got the cinnamon roll, apple fritter, long john with custard, and the red velvet with cream cheese frosting. Besides the red velvet donut, everything else was average. I really miss my favorite place in the world for doughnut, Sweetwater Donut Mill in Kalamazoo, MI. This place comes very close. I decided to scurry out one Sunday morning after reading another review. We had visitors in town, and everyone was still sleeping. I thought it would make a great surprise for them. I got a mixed dozen, asking the counter woman to fill it up with her recommendations. Man, I wasn't disappointed at all. Each doughnut was impeccable. Hands down the best donut shop I have ever eaten at. At one time, I was a delivery driver for Purity Dairy's and received free donuts all the time from numerous donut shops. Needles to say, I've tried quite a few donut shops and Gourmet Donuts has been the best thus far! I work 5 minutes down the road from them and buy a dozen mixed donuts for the guys at work at least every other week and they love them! My girlfriend and I were hesitant about coming here due to some of the recent horrible reviews. There's not a better donut place in a hundred miles. The staff has always been great, both polite and attentive. Their donuts have fueled many early morning meetings and volunteer projects. They have a great selection with many varieties and even some biscuits and other treats from time to time. Stop in and check them out, you won't be disappointed! What a great little local donut shop. My favorite thing here are the donut sandwiches. They use the dough from the donuts to make the bread and stuff ham and cheese and egg into the sandwich.
