What a great little local donut shop. My favorite thing here are the donut sandwiches. They use the dough from the donuts to make the bread and stuff ham and cheese and egg into the sandwich. Have to agree to Christopher to a point, those Gourmet Donuts are heavy. And there is a great coffee shop in the area that brews a better cup of the black stuff. BUT: This is mom and pop whipping up great baked goods. You don't get any "eat a dozen on the way home - light weight - Krispy Kreme" stuff here. One or two of these babies will hold you to lunch time. And this place is way cleaner than any Dunkin Dounut or most coffee shops I've ever seen. I got a peek at the prep area and, I swear, it could pass a white glove test. Note that the menu changes throughout the year. In the summer you will find something based on strawberries or some other fresh fruit. My favorite is the end of summer when the pumpkin spice donuts appear in the case. And they know the right way to make an apple fritter with big chunks of apple mixed into the batter (and not some apple sauce junk shot inside after baking) which is fried up with crispy edges and gobs of sugar. . . . Cherry Fritters . . . .don't even get me started. Or avoid the sugar with one of their fresh egg or meat pastries. I sometimes leave the house at the crack of dawn on Sunday to drive across town, pick up 5 dozen for various classroom request, and make it back across town in time for church. The only time I've ever been disappointed was when I arrived late! These donuts are simply amazing! They have other food items as well, but I only ever go for the donuts! We just stopped here for some breakfast before ou running errands. Not only are the donuts fantastic, but the service was excellent! They even threw in a couple free glazed donuts. This place is just great. The donuts are fresh and amazing and the people who own it are so sweet and friendly. We came on a weekday morning and there was no one else in the dining area, so they turned on cartoons on the tv for our toddler and gave her complimentary donut holes! It was my first visit and I was kinda surprised the man behind the counter didn't try to offer me assistance. Overall the donuts were good not mind blowing. First let me say the donuts are very good. My husband and I visited Gourmet Donuts late afternoon during the week after just having moved to the area. This two star review is for the lack of regard for my time and money. During 1 weekend I attempted to buy donuts on both Saturday and Sunday. Their hrs state that they are open until 2 pm. However, both days I tried to purchase donuts at 10:30 and they were sold out and closed according to a sign on the door. If they don't have the product or desire to stay open past 10am they should adjust their hrs. I would not waste time and money driving here unless you call first to see if they actually have donuts left. read more

Was in from out of town looking for donuts and found this place on yelp. Nothing fancy, but like supporting the mom and pops shops. Donuts were yummy and the price was right. I am a huge fan of this place!! I was not so sure I would like the cake-iness of the donuts, having grown up on Dunkin Donuts up north, but these are the most delicious donuts!!! The man behind the counter gave me free donut hole samples the first time I was in the shop, and is never lacking on good suggestions. Gourmet donuts is a great local bakery. As a serious foodie and former baker at City Bakery in Asheville, Nc I have had my fair share of great pastries. The shop reminds me of a small German bakery, they usually sell out by noon and shut down to bake their next batch. Their specialty is cake donuts and fritters.
