This place has an interesting setup that offers multi-functionality in one place. It has a coffee shop, hair salon, nail salon, plus it acts as an art gallery and lounge shop. The coffee shop sells ice cream and some baked goods, too. The clientele that frequents it are regulars who know each other on a first-name basis and know what's going on in each other's lives. It definitely offers a small-town feel with good vibes and a chill atmosphere. This place saved me today. After a recent tornado took out power to our house since 1am last night, I came looking for a place outside of the storm path that I could get some power and WiFi and get some work done. I'd never heard of this place and came here on a recommendation from a friend (Thanks Chuck!). It's a combined coffee shop and women's salon (diving wall between the two but open doorways, so plenty of separation for any noise). They have a wide and expansive menu of coffee drinks and they also have hand-scooped ice-cream as well. The prices are a little high (~$7 for a large raspberry white mocha) but the coffee is good. The atmosphere is nice and the WiFi is good as well. They've got a few smaller tables, a sitting area with 4 comfy chairs for a good conversation and a larger picnic style table as well. I'll keep this place in mind for future excursions when I need to stop for a few for some work tasks and a cup o' joe! read more

I, like you, thought this listing had to be a mistake. A coffee shop, nail salon *and* hair salon? Plus, ice cream? No. Not possible. Well, folks, I'm here to tell you that it is possible. Walking in, I grumbled to myself about how a listing could have been so jumbled. No. It's correct. You really can get a cup of coffee, a mani, highlights, and a sundae all under the same roof (although not performed by the same people... I think). This is small town America. Since the health rating is so high, I feel able to go into the quaint nature of such a setup. To be fair, the hair salon is on one side of the shop (separated by a wall), the nail salon is in back and the coffee and ice cream are together. Since I didn't need a pedicure or to get my hair did, I opted for a sundae. I made a good choice. There aren't a ton of flavor varieties at Govan's but what they have is really good. I started with a taste of their chocolate fudge. I am a chocoholic and this was too rich for me. This isn't a complaint; it's a compliment. With thick, gooey fudge ripples and dense, dark chocolate, only approach this ice cream if you're truly worthy. I was not. But for having a gluten-problematic gut, I would have gotten a brownie sundae. The brownies here are HUGE. They looked delicious. Alas, those days are behind me so I concentrated on a dairy bomb. I ordered a two scoop sundae with chocolate sauce, peanuts, (real) whipped cream, and a cherry on top. For my ice cream base, I went for strawberry (gloriously pink with chunks of fruit) and peanut butter chocolate (chocolate base with soft peanut butter throughout). This wasn't craft ice cream. It wasn't deconstructed. This was a throwback to the dessert you got when you were a kid... and it was wholly suitable for the time and place. The proprietress was friendly and engaged and I felt welcomed and catered to. #smalltownamerica By the time I finished with my sundae, I was breathing slightly heavy and forced to waddle to my car. It did the job. Never before would I have thought to combine a hair salon, nail salon, coffee shop, and ice cream shop but never before had I been to Govan's. It works. Very cute, quaint place that has much to offer. You can get a wide variety of coffee specialities, pastries and muffins, ice cream and even get your hair, makeup or nails done. I was visiting from Miami and loved that the could make Cafecito very close to what I get back home. I also had the opportunity to get my nails done there. The price was way more than what I usually pay and the result wasn't as nice. They don't have a price sign, so there was no way of knowing before I hit the register, but I wish I did. Gallatin has such a cute downtown and businesses like Govan's really add to the charm. If you're looking for an afternoon getaway, Gallatin is close to Nashville and has some great stuff to offer. After stuffing my face at Swaney Swifts, I had a bit of a sweet tooth. I wanted to try a few places in this area so after spotting Govan's next door, I was sold. This business is really a one stop shop. It's a cafe/hair salon/nail salon. That might sound like a huge health code violation, but the businesses are all separated and it's a nice cozy space. It's nothing fancy. It has small town feel with local goodies for sale, some comfortable places to sit, and a single counter with a variety of delicious things. It looked like they had a full coffee bar and some baked good. I was too focused on the ice cream to explore too much. While their flavors are a bit limited (maybe 10), they have everything you would need. I tried a sample of the dark chocolate fudge ice cream and was sold. I also had my eye on the peanut butter chocolate but the dark chocolate was calling my name. I was pretty full so I just got the small single scoop sugar cone. Of course it was not just a single scoop. Ice cream was loaded onto that little cone and I had a challenge ahead. The price was about $2.00 which is hard to beat. The service was quick and friendly. That atmosphere was warm and inviting. Oh, and the ice cream really hit the spot. I definitely made the right choice for flavor, but also might have to go back to try the chocolate peanut butter. I think one could really spend a whole day with all of the services here. Get your hair done, then your nails, and get some coffee and snacks in between! read more

Searched yelp for 'breakfast' nearby. This is actually mis-categorized. I went in looking for a breakfast menu and the only food they have are muffins. The staff member was very nice. I ordered an iced latte. I like the inside. It accompanies a salon. As a coffee shop it's good. But totally off on the Breakfast hashtag. read more
