Last visit we ie husband ordered the chile verde which has been lovely and perfect however this evening the order came out wrong kinda like a chili Colorado not verde at all and the manager maybe even owner? Argued with us for minutes on end that the verde was supposed to be the red sauce after we've had it there several times and to prove his wrong self he brought out two different salsas and said see this is chili verde none being the lovely green sauce and he acted like we were stupid gringos We came from an area of California too that educated us grinfo on authentica Mexican foods but sadly he wouldn't admit customer was And IS RIGHT NEVER again ! This was our second time dining at Casa Roja and I would say it is worth returning to. We were given chips and salsa when seated, but the chips were fragments rather than dip-able. My wife ordered a carnitas burrito and I ordered a molcajete de lengua. My wife thought her burrito was meh and the beans were runny. I tasted both and found both flavorful. I was very satisfied with my molcajete; there was an abundance of onion, green pepper and chilies along with the most lengua ever served to me in a restaurant. Everything was amazing! From the appetizer (guacamole casero) to the entrees (enchiladas suizas, chicken flautas, and tacos authentico) had good flavor and was delicious. Amazing food! Great service! The Torta Mexicana is something you never knew you needed in your life...but once you've experienced it, you'll never look at another sandwich the same. So utterly delicious it should be illegal. Bombero (Firefighter) Buda is always a favorite and is great as a leftover.... And I don't do leftovers. The chips are so delicate and fried to perfection. I was in town and looking for dinner. I saw this place was relatively new and had good reviews so I decided to try it. I got chips and salsa. The house salsa was very bland, so I asked for some hotter salsa. When I got the bill, I saw they had charged me $2.25 for the second salsa. No other place in town did this during my visit I opted for the chicken fajitas, no tomatoes. The fajitas themselves were delicious. My rice and beans plate came with lettuce, but not the pico and guacamole it was supposed to come with, so I asked for those. I think because I said no tomatoes in my fajitas, he figured that was across the board. Really, I just dislike hot tomatoes. I got a very small amount of pico and guacamole. I asked for more pico and he brought a small salsa dish of pico, but charged me $5 for it! To be fair, I did see pico on the menu for $5, but would have appreciated the heads up that I would be charged for it. $5 is a lot for that quantity of pico. There are other good Mexican restaurants in town that do not charge for extra for additional salsas or for different types of salsa. While the fajitas were good, I will not likely return. read more

Very disappointing! We were there for two hours and not by choice. They service was so slow that by the time we ordered waters we had been sitting close to 20 minutes. It took another 20 minutes to get our drinks so we went ahead and put our food order in. Over an HOUR later our food comes out....COLD! I had ordered fijitas and the plate did not come out sizzling, in fact I could put my hand on the bottom of the plate...we told the manager that this was cold and we would not be paying and we were leaving. Upon leaving a guy (maybe another manager) told us he was sorry but they only had one person working the kitchen. We told him we understood how that can be stressful but then comunicate that to your customers before they sit down so they can choose to leave or stay. I will never be back. read more

Margarita buyer BEWARE! pricing is very non-transparent. Top shelf pitchers are priced at $20/pitcher on the menu. Ordered a skinny Margarita pitcher. Got bill... $50!!! Waiter neither told us there would be an up charge, nor, did the manager/owner try and make anything right. Food and service was amazing! Definitely recommend the casa roja fajitas, they were the best fajitas I ever had! My husband got the enchiladas banderas and they were also very good. I had a Love potion special drink for Valentine's Day that was so cute and delicious and we also shared a flight of their sangrias that was very good as well. We will definitely be back again! Went to dinner here with my family this evening as it looks like it's relatively new to our area. Both my husband and I each ordered a margarita and a water for our little one. While the drinks were good, they didn't come to the table until after my husband and child already had their food. I ordered the Pizza Birria which was delicious, it had so much flavor everyone loved it. My husband's dish was less than flavorful though. Despite having added salt and some of the lime from my dish, it was overall a really bland meal. We got our little one the kids quesadillas and the rice was only half cooked with beans lacking flavor as well. Service was okay. I think they're still trying to get use to being open so there were a few hiccups. The thing I found wild though was all that came to $80 before tip. It could be because we didn't specify what tequila for our margarita...we thought we ordered the "house tequila" but upon further inspection we were charged for don Julio. All in all, I would go back again to give it another try, hopefully the food has some more flavor then. read more

We wanted to love this place as it's hard to find good Mexican food in TN. 5 stars for using cotija cheese, like real Mexican food should have. Service can be great or terrible, but never consistent. Food items we have tried have mostly been good. Their charo beans are great, but the amount you get is very small. "Top shelf" margaritas made with Teremana tequila and Gran Gala orange liqueur can be $12 or $22. Prices depending on who takes your order I guess? We quit ordering them altogether and tequila shots on the ricks as the pour is 1 ounce! read more

I moved here from Arizona two years ago and I've been on a mission to find a Mexican restaurant that doesn't disappoint. Well, mission [finally] accomplished. Already made a second trip here in less than a week! It's not quite Sonoran-Mexican but it's pretty darn close and BY FAR the BEST enchiladas and chile relleno I've had in Tennessee so far. We tried both the red and green enchiladas and both were spectacular. The rice and beans reminded us of home. The servers were extremely friendly, the vibes were cozy, and the decor was thoughtful, beautiful, and authentic. We're so grateful to have such a fantastic spot in Gallatin and we'll definitely be back over and over to try some more dishes! I am absolutely impressed by Casa Roja!! Living in CA & AZ, have my tongue used to West Coast Mexican food, it's hard to find that same flavor in TN... Until Casa Roja opened their doors! Their flavors immediately resonated quality Mexican food. Thinly sliced tortillas fresh chips, freshly made horcha & jamaica drinks, to their enchiladas with their Salsa Verde that knocked my socks off!! I had really high hopes for this restaurant when I read so the reviews. Unfortunately, it sadly disappointed. The service was absolutely horrible. We had our dinner served, before we even got our drinks (45 mins) she's that's including a soda. 2 of the drinks we ordered, they couldn't make and they were on there specialty drink menu. We got our bill, and they overcharged our meal. Lastly, the brands are awful, the rice was ok. The main dishes were just ok, nothing special. We ordered the chicken tortilla soup, and it was mostly all rice with broccoli in it, just weird! Flautas were good, chile rellano ok not great. Because of the service she's the beans, we won't be returning. There are better places in Gallatin to try. read more

Service was slow. Silverware had food stuck all over it. Found out water cups had food stuck to the bottom after 5 minutes of drinking it. Crumbled chips with guacamole. Slowest service ever..had to ask for more salsa twice. never received any waters, margaritas weren't good, the place had a weird gross smell. The only thing good was the pizza birria but there were alot of fatty pieces in there. We waited at the bar for 10 minutes without being offered a drink. The service was slow, and while most of the food was good, the molcajete steak was overcooked, the shrimp was cold, and the soup wasn't hot enough. When our food arrived, there was no silverware at the table, and we had to ask for water and salsa multiple times. Our server seemed busy with other tasks and wasn't very attentive to our table. He also didn't communicate well. From what we saw, the other two servers appeared to provide much better service. It's hard to tell if the management is disorganized or if we just happened to get the wrong server.
