Is it open as Kadamba cafe for now and can the page be updated to show that it's still operating and give photos and update the hours etc?

Yes! Govinda's now has a street level cafe, and new morning hours for the our local workers and work-outers! Stop by and let them know you are a returning Govinda's customer…

Have they reopened? On the ISKCON website they say open (not 'reopened' or 'open again') and Yelp doesn't list them as closed.…

Yes! not sure why it shows otherwise but they are open since mid February. Great Eggplant Parmigiana today!

Do they let in 18+ or is it 21 above only?

Dear Benedict, There is no age restriction at Govinda's. Please come by!

Is Govinda's still open? If not will they reopen? Does anyone know the new Address?

Warm atmosphere, a strong selection of vegan food and drinks, and the kind of place that made the evening feel special without trying too hard. It's since closed, and from what I understand it wasn't about the food or the love from regulars, it was the brutal economics of running a sit-down restaurant in a delivery-and-takeout world. Nine years of serving genuinely great vegan comfort food in Williamsburg, done in by margins rather than quality. That's a rough way for a good restaurant to go. If you ever got to eat here, you know what was lost. If you didn't, I'm sorry you missed it.

The menu is stacked--sandwiches, hearty apps, macs, and cozy entrees that make you forget you're eating vegan. During my visit, they were running a Reuben sandwich special that seriously tempted me, but I went with the oyster mushroom calamari, and wow, the seasoning was spot on, and it could easily fool a seafood lover. My friend tried the seitan wings and was really impressed, even though he's usually not into mock meats. They came with super flavorful sauces and were definitely shareable. He also had the smash burger, which was a total win--savory, satisfying, and gave big diner vibes. We heard the milkshakes are amazing too, but we were too full to fit them in. Next time, for sure. Only downside? The service was on the slow side--we waited over 30 minutes between apps and mains. It's a popular spot, so some delay is understandable, but it was noticeable. Overall, I loved it and can't wait to go back with an emptier stomach and room for dessert.

I had ordered from HAAM through Grubhub, only to have my order canceled, not once, but twice, through no fault of the restaurant. HAAM had actually prepared my food, and Rosa had been following the whole ordeal and trying to help me throughout it. By the time I tried to order for a third time, the restaurant had already closed. What happened next genuinely blew me away. Rosa went completely above and beyond to make sure I still got my food. After hours of dealing with canceled orders and calls with Grubhub (both of us called them), she cared enough to make sure that I didn't end the night without my meal. She was unbelievably kind and generous and wouldn't even accept money from me because of everything that had happened. I worked in customer service for more than 20 years, so I know how much skill, patience, and genuine care great customer service requires, and how rare it has become. Customer service is a highly undervalued but super important skill in this world where social interaction is being minimized, much to our detriment. Rosa reminded me that one person can completely change the way you feel about a business. She has made me a HAAM fan for life. And somehow, after waiting all those hours, that food tasted like the best meal on the planet. HAAM's food was already wonderful, and I especially appreciate having such delicious vegan Caribbean food in NYC. Being in Queens I wish it were closer! We need more vegan options in Queens. I also really appreciate how knowledgeable the staff is about ingredients and dietary restrictions. I'm temporarily avoiding gluten and soy, and Rosa knew exactly what to recommend. This experience was about something beyond good food. It meant so much to encounter someone who genuinely cared. This is gold. Rosa, thank you. You were an angel. And to HAAM: please know what an extraordinary person you have representing your restaurant. This experience makes me want to go out of my way to support HAAM even more.

We started with the curry chicken wontons, which were perfectly bite size and came with an incredible tamarind sauce. I had the steak and rice main, and the steak was kind of mind blowing! The plantains and even the rice on the side were incredible as well, and I ended up with leftovers to take home. My partner had the mofongo, which is topped with super crispy oyster mushrooms. Honestly we didn't have room for dessert, but decided to get the tres leches cake anyway. The icing on top was the real star for me there. Cocktails were also on point!

Takeout review Price: $$ (burgers are $19-22) but its comes with seasoned fries (more on that below) and the burgers are HUGE Store: few seats in the back, otherwise takeout mostlly. they call you a "slut" upon entering and leaving (it's entertaining). Food: - Dancehall Burger- sounded interesting but the maduros were a miss. would have been better with avocado and bacon. the slut sauce made this burger. onions were grilled but not caramelized. overall it was a solid burger. - Hollywood Hooker: massive but kind of bland? the texture was spot on for a philly chopped sandwich. but no slut sauce :( get the burger - eggrolls: philly cheesesteak egg roll. it was popular. Solid choice. i couldnt tell it wasnt beef. i added sweet chilli sauce to it which added some spice. - Fries: one batch was hot, crunch, perfectly cooked and had great seasonings. the other batch was soggy and was likely sitting out. if you get the fries fresh its worth it. Service: - Order on kiosks - Trainwreck. online order and suprised when it was ready within 4 minutes. Within 20 minutes I was in the store. 3 people + 2 food delivery drivers waiting. 2 workers - one was cooking while the other disappeared to get supplies / take out the trash. 10 minutes go by- no one gets food. 15 minutes. 1 delivery driver gets food. more people enter - delivery drivers + customers. Only 1 was greeted and told it would be a wait. 20 minutes. no food. The second workers comes back and helps with orders. finally 3 orders come out for in person orders only. 30 minutes, I ask for an update. 5 mintues later I get my food. total time was around 50 minutes not 4 minutes. I would recommend trying it for a good vegan burger and if you have an hour to wait. if you need a quick order or are rushing to catch a concert, show, or game at Barclays I would avoid. Food; 4 stars Overall 3 stars

It's not like one was actually reserved, but hey, it worked out, so I'm happy about that. Onto the food: I am half Haitian, and I may not speak Haitian Kreyol, but I know my Haitian food. I can prove my Haitian ethnicity by cooking traditional dishes. The legume was on point! That dish was my favorite. My friend truly enjoyed her salmon. Honestly, I wish I had gotten the salmon to take home instead of the Haitian fried chicken. Now, that wasn't that great to me, and I didn't enjoy it :( I'm still giving them all the stars and all the props because I really appreciated the service. This was my first time trying a Haitian patty with spinach, and it was absolutely fantastic. I think it's even better than the chickpea one. I would definitely highly recommend this place and also go back. But the Haitian fried chicken need to be better. Still, I'll definitely come again and try the salmon next time!!!

After hanging out with a friend, I was hungry and trying to figure out where I wanted to go. As I walked up Utica avenue, I saw Lakou Cafe. I decided to try them. When I entered, I saw someone at the bar and two people dining at a table. I planned on taking my food to go. I ordered the fried chicken sandwich and I subbed the fries with sweet plantains and the kale salad. The server was friendly and personable. When I got home, I couldn't wait to dive in. It smelled so good but I was I little worried because the chicken was very dark--I was hoping it wasn't overcooked. Much to my delight, it was just the seasoning. The chicken was tender and delicious. On of these days I'll dine in. I highly recommend Lakou Cafe, I know that I'll be back.
