Uhm somebody updated their menu! Or maybe I just didn't notice the things on the menu. IDK. Two days ago I had the boneless ribs with steamed broccoli (extra soft) and I'm still dreaming about it. The broccoli was a bit salty, but I could ask them to tone it down next time. I think I'll go get some today. I'm not wanting to want food that mimics meat, but I understand the concept. I ordered online for pick up. Afterwards they sent me a thank you email. Awesome. They do alot of delivery orders, but the place is cute enough to dine in with your takeout order and the bathroom is decent. The phone is always ringing. They used to be further down I think on Washington years ago. I think last year I went back to them for the first time in a long time. We've been getting food from Vegetarian Palate for more than 5 years now. I love that they have so many different choices on their menu and that they're all vegetarian! The majority of the items from their menu that we've tried have all been really delicious, but occasionally we try something that isn't great and is typically under seasoned. Some of our favorites are the crispy chicken nuggets, mango chicken, salt and pepper chicken tenders (the jalapeño slices and sauce are delicious), curry roll, and scallion pancake. My favorite menu item was the Hawaiian Chicken, which is unfortunately no longer available but they have so many other choices! I love it though, please bring it back! :) read more

The ma pa tofu here is my go to takeout comfort food. I like how the counter service is personal and it seems like a nice family owned shop.

Somehow my wife had gotten a menu and on this menu all the vegetable and fruit juices they specialized in were gone. The only fruit juice they had was pineapple ginger. Ok, we'll get a soda. My wife tells the man at the counter the two sodas we wanted. Now in years past, we would get a glass with ice per drink. Today, we got A CAN OF SODA AND A STRAW. When we received our food, each dish was in a togo plastic container and the rice was in a togo card board container. CLASSY RIGHT? Gone were the nice plates and homey atmosphere. Gone was silverware, being replaced by the CHEAPEST PLASTIC FORKS AND SPOONS MONEY CAN BUY. It was appalling. I was now beginning to get annoyed. My wife had also told the man at the counter that we wanted a 1/2 tray of nuggets to take home. Based upon his half answer, I decided to tell the "waiter" the same thing. He seemed quite annoyed at me addressing him, grunted his reply to my request and moved on. While we were eating our "to go" sit down meal, I heard the person at the front counter (who was answering phones and taking orders) speaking to an annoyed woman who said she tried calling several times and got no response. HIS response was revealing. Quite simply he lied to her and told her he was not answering the phones so he didn't know what was going on. He then proceeded to tell her this was his first day on the job. I believe this was a sympathy plea as we watched him do things that clearly no first day employee would do. I made a mental note and kept eating. Now for the moment of truth. The bill. We get the bill from this front desk person and the nuggets we ordered? Not there. I always tip. It is something that is a carry over from when I was a waiter as a teen. I recognize this is how many waiters make their money. But in this case, the service was so bad, I left nothing. After all, we were packed to go before we started. I paid my bill and left. 15 minutes later, as I'm getting on the highway, I received a call from the restaurant (same front desk person) who cheerfully told me my nuggets were ready. WHAT!!!! I politely told him no mention of the nuggets took place as we were leaving and we were not charged for it so I assumed he forgot about it. I took this opportunity to let him know how disappointed I was in the full experience. I began to talk about the issues with the waiter and clearly not listening he asked "Was it me? Did I do something wrong?" And then he parroted the "this is my first day" message he gave the other lady. He then told me that the company had decided to use another business model when I told him about the lack of plates and silverware. He also stated that the restaurant is set up for customers TO GET THEIR OWN PLATES AND EATING UTENSILS. This is curious because nowhere is that stated OR are their plates and utensils set up. Now if you're thinking what I'm thinking, this question won't be too much of a mystery: HOW DOES A FIRST DAY EMPLOYEE KNOW ALL THIS INFORMATION????? I advised him that we all make choices and I guess this visit was the end of an era. I am so disappointed. I will miss the nuggets but it is not worth the trouble. I've been ordering from here a handful of times and I've enjoyed the appetizers, but it seems like the hot entrees are all the same dishes made up of canned baby corn, canned mushrooms, and canned bamboo (all of which have a strong distinct taste) in various sauces and a couple different protein options and a small amount of a few basic vegetables (carrot, snow peas, and broccoli). The excessive use of canned vegetables make them all taste kind of the same and honestly, not that good. Seems quite lazy in my opinion. The noodle dishes are better, I suppose. The Ocean Harvest doesn't have as much of the canned veggies so it's pretty good. But the rest ... eh. But I do like the appetizers and sides (such as the sugar cane drumsticks and salt & pepper "chicken" tenders). I may just limit my orders to those and avoid most of the hot entrees from now on. read more

I used to love this place until my last visit . The food made my husband and I very sick ! We get the same thing every time but this time it tasted different and I believe it was cooked different. We ordered during lunch special and didn't even get the full lunch special deal and when it was brought to the lady at the counter attention she was very nasty rude and condescending. She thought it was okay to dismiss us to then talk over us to the people coming in behind us. I don't necessarily think this is the most gourmet or exquisite meal option, but I lived in this neighborhood for 6 years, and for long stretches would order takeout from Vegetarian Palate every week or two, so I'd be a hypocrite if I gave it anything less than 5 stars. The whole menu is vegan, so if you have any food restrictions along those lines you can try literally anything. My personal favorite were the sugar cane drumsticks. They always come piping hot, and they were one of the few items from any local restaurant I really craved. They're very much in line with the restaurant's tendency to be more on the comfort food spectrum than health food, despite being vegan. The menu says you get five of them, but after about 150 times of ordering them I never got 5, always 6. Another favorite (with the same caveat) was the wonton soup, which is probably the best pork-free wonton soup I've ever had. Takeout can vary a little bit when they're busy, but for the most part it's astonishingly fast. It's much faster, for example, than the two Thai restaurants on Washington Ave. I frequently place an order on Yelp, then show up at the restaurant maybe 10 minutes later, but I rarely waited long, and frequently not at all. One of the nice breakthroughs I had here was that after going there to pick up food about 70 times the woman at the counter seemed to finally recognize that I had been there before. That was a nice little added bonus to the experience. I moved away in November 2019, and still there are days when I just don't feel like cooking and want those damn sugar cane drumsticks. The customer service is always excellent and there's not a long wait time. I always get the Curry Singapore Mei Fun and I like to add tofu to the dish. The thin noodles includes three veggie meat mixed in. Don't worry it's not spicy but just right. I highly recommend it, you can't go wrong. You can always rely on vegetarian palate for a yummy meat free fix! There are lots of protein options from tofu to sextan, and lots of fresh veggies to go with them. All if their soups are heavy and so good for you. I'm especially obsessed with the won ton soup and I often have that as my main course. It's also my go to when I'm sick! I order here a lot, take out, dine in, and pick up. Service is great and the the delivery is on time. Here are my suggestions: - Boneless Rib fried rice (tastes JUST like the pork pieces in tradition fried rice with the red sauce that coats eat piece). Really good! - Pan Fried Noodles... yes even in delivering they stay crispy and they are courteous enough to separate it. My girlfriend and I ordered take out from Vegetarian Palate tonight and it was by far one of the worst take-out experiences ever. We ordered through seamless and waited way to long for the order to be delivered. My General Tso Chicken was slimy and had the texture of a sponge; and my girlfriend's Buddha Rice Soup was bland. I quickly called the restaurant and was handed over to the owner who was arrogant and quickly became rude. I explained to him that the dish was slimy and seemed old and he told me that the dish wasn't very good for take-out but was excellent for dining-in. Needless to say that didn't make much sense to me as he continued to spout off and tell me that he can't please everyone. When I proceeded to tell him that it tasted old and soggy he asked me if I was a cook, when I replied that I was not he told me that I was talking like I was a chef. This conversation sounded like something straight out of kitchen nightmares! After getting my fill of this arrogant and condescending behavior I bid him farewell and called seamless. The awesome customer service rep, Austin was extremely helpful and totally understood my issue as we had spent $30 on food that we weren't going to eat. She put me on a quick hold to call the restaurant and got a generous taste of just how rude the owner was. In the end seamless was gracious enough to refund us for our dinner. The moral of this tale: Seamless and those who are running their customer service department are striving to keep their customers happy, however Vegetarian Palate... Not so much.... Don't waste your money. And especially don't bank on take-out tasting anything like dine-in. read more

But I knew better so I google searched it for the proper Washington Ave address. The food here is still amazing after several years. I got my Chicken Curry. I think I will forever love this as long as they don't change the recipe. What I miss was the broccoli. I think broccoli used to be included prior. I also ordered the crispy nugget which I thought were appetizers but surprisingly it came with rice and broccoli. Sadly when I got home, there was no sauce on the nuggets. Had to use the duck sauce. Nuggets were delicious but not sure how they expected me to eat dry nuggets with dry rice and broccoli. (1 star lost for that). This restaurant used to be in a more mainstream and accessible location. A friend just guided me to rediscover them in their "new" less visible location, albeit with better parking. The food is clean and nourishing. Whether you are cleansing, raw, vegan, vegetarian, or omnivore Vegetarian Palate has foods/juices and preparation styles that can satisfy your special needs. Although I avoid soy now, their Chickn' Nuggets satisfied me when I first transitioned from the Standard American Diet to natural foods.
