I was diagnosed with cataracts which is like a rite of passage for older folks in Florida. Thousands of folks have the surgery every year. Did I tell you that it involves replacing the lens in your eye? Yup, they take out the old lens covered in cataracts and put in a brand new artificial lens. Did I tell you they do this while you are awake? Yikes! Does that sound scary? It sure as hell sounded scary to me but it turned out to be absolutely painless! The process involves several appointments. Pre-op, Post-op, and each eye surgery is done separately, separated by two or three weeks. You need to take several eye drops, several times a day for a few weeks. Huge kudos to management here for their skill in hiring wonderful employees. Each employee that touched me was friendly and most importantly caring and competent. I can't say enough about the quality of the employees. So was it worth it? You bet! My eyesight is like a twenty-year old's again! I love my Newsom Eyes!

Business practices are the worst, was told when I made an Ophthalmology appointment that there was no co-pay specifically for my insurance plan (looked it up online), then was charged $30 after the appointment. Same for my optometry appointment. Sure, the EXAM was no co-pay, but they charge $60 for the doctor to READ THE RESULTS AND PROVIDE A PRESCRIPTION. And of course, "no insurance pays for that". The woman at the checkout desk had a smartass attitude and a look on her face that screamed she hears objections to this ridiculous policy all day long. Well, I WAS going to buy new glasses from Newsom, but they'll never see a dime of my money ever again

I was one sick puppy!…read more I spent almost a week in the hospital. Then, three weeks at inpatient rehab. Now at least a month going to outpatient rehab and that's where these fine folks come in. Heads up! - Two reviews (Lee Y & Tito R) are incorrectly posted and belong with the hospital across the street. Process- Before my 1st appointment, they texted me an online registration link. This minimized the paperwork and was much appreciated! Appointments run on time which is delightful! Atmosphere- This is a big place with all the rehab bells and whistles for both PT and OT. Masks are required and they clean equipment a lot! Customer Service- The two service folks that have touched me have been friendly and efficient. For consistency, I requested that I have the same therapist each visit and they happily accommodated me! Therapists- My guy has been awesome. He likes to set objective goals and he clearly explains the "why" of every exercise. In addition to getting better, I'm learning a lot! These folks are part of the Advent Health System which I use quite a bit. They are great choice for outpatient rehab in Highlands County.

Keeping in mind that COVID has changed EVERYTHING, They were terrific. I went in for an ultrasound and ended up in the ER. Yes, the staff is worn out in places - they have been in a war. Still, I received all the treatment I needed. The operating room was beyond overbooked. So, I had to wait a day for my surgery. I was kept out of danger with antibiotics. EVERY staff member was a true hero. I know many of them were working after having had COVID and still came back. So, after waiting a day, I was the only one in pre-op. I went almost right in and EXPERT surgeons saved my life. Turned out it was worse than they first thought and the antibiotics had really been needed. After surgery, I was treated for another three days and EVERY test and procedure was done. I have been in this hospital with my family a few years back and it's not the same - it's rougher around the edges. THE WHOLE WORLD is rougher around the edge.
