However, she has had episodes where she will not have a bowel movement for anywhere between 6-11 (longest happened once only). She became a new patient, switching from her former pediatrician right before the 11 days between bowl movements occurred. My daughter called the office for medical direction and Dr. Flagel wasted no time, and we were told to go to Sarasota Memorial for an abdominal scan (to diagnose or rule out a blockage or intestinal defect,which would require surgical intervention). Halfway to the hospital my granddaughter finally had a bowel movement, and after informing Dr. Flagel, the ER trip wasn't necessary. As her grandma, I have called the office for consult concerning minor issues and every time I've called the staff has been genuinely caring, kind, and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate recommending Dr. Flagel to anyone who is looking for a pediatrician who is completely competent, genuinely baby/child oriented and provides first rate care to her patients as well as supportive and compassionate assistance to parents and caregivers. She has the perfect personality to provide healthcare to children, and she is great at easing the fears of children in order to complete examinations which are done gently and completely.
