What I appreciate about Log Boom is that there is usually a Lake Forest park patrol car parked in the parking lot in case there is an accident. I have gone to other parks and law enforcement is non existent. I once saw a forklift with keys by the park and let a dispatcher know. I'm very pleased by this park. The existing trees that aren't dead, are way overgrown and very little of park is accessible because of this. The beach sedimentation has built us so much along the entire shoreline and they don't want anyone swimming here at a Waterfront park. What kind of waterfront park says NO to everything. The benches on the property are all facing weeds so can't see beyond to see all of the water. The park is small, but serene. Most of the space follows Lyon Creek under overhanging foliage, with a bench and boardwalk to enjoy. Where the creek meets the lake, there is a small dock and bench to frequent. Have not seen any salmon running up the creek as of yet, but that would make my day. Overall, it is small but extraordinarily peaceful and well restored. Good vibes only.

Trails run…read morethroughout the park and one of the paths (the main one I suppose) has white trail markers indicating in what direction to proceed to stay on the trail at forks in the trail. We didn't realize these were trail markers until towards the end of our walk today... we ended up going in the reverse direction around the trails. Runners, dog walkers, children in camp, and walkers abounded this morning. Along one of the trails there are restoration in progress areas where one can get involved in environmental stewardship if so inclined. Posted signs provide contact information on where to seek more information about this. The birds loved this portion of the trail and we heard a variety of different bird songs as we traversed this area. Wildflowers and plants in the park were beautiful and captivated my attention while exploring. On a more industrial note, there are big guns (I call them cannons) from the 1800s located by the playground. An essential stop if you want a fun photo-op and to learn a little bit of war history on your visit. My mom and I both enjoyed our visit today, Tuesday the 21st of July 2020, and found Hamlin Park a place we both are interested in revisiting. The parking lots didn't have many cars when we arrived around 9 a.m. but by the time we left, a little after 10 a.m., the parking lot we had parked in was about half full. The morning sun and cool air was very refreshing for a forecasted hot day.

This is my first time here and it checks off so many boxes for me as a mama of little kids. Even though it's located close to a busy street, it's quite serene here. The playground areas have enough for small and bigger kids to burn off energy. There's a climbing wall, a little zipline, slides and swings. There is a small paved path around the playground areas, which as a stroller user is nice. I took a stroll down towards the water, and it was nice and peaceful, even though it's right underneath 68th/Juanita Dr. There is a small covered picnic area and a couple of BBQs. There are bathrooms with a changing table(!) and the bathroom seems to be well kept. I'm not sure of dogs are allowed, but there is so much grassy area to run around, have a picnic in, or toss a ball around. This place is kind of an introverted mom's dream park. And TBH, I am not a botanist. So, I can't tell you how many rhododendrons there are, but there are certainly a lot of flowers in bloom. My allergies know this.

This park is so pretty, with many tall trees and a rushing stream that apparently is sometimes home to salmon. There is a very short walking trail at this park. My new friend Heather J and I walked along the short trail and up to the pretty stream before the concert started. Heather J is great! I am very glad that we have become friends. I previously lived in Lake Forest Park for 4 years, and I had no idea that this park was here for that entire time! The hosts of this event were very gracious and so sweet and welcoming. Parking here was fairly plentiful, although I took an uber to this particular event. The event was well-attended though, despite the intermittent sprinklings of rain yesterday evening, so both parking areas ended up mostly full by the time that the event was underway. Quite a few people arrived late to this event, so I think if you arrive early like I did to an event here that you would have a good chance of finding parking right in front of this park. I brought a couple of outdoor cushions with me, and Heather J and I sat at one of the 4 (?) picnic tables there. However, many of the attendees to the event brought outdoor chairs, and I feel like this might be the way to go if I attend another event here, since getting a picnic table to sit at is definitely not guaranteed. This was a free event, but donations were requested. I did put a small amount of cash into the donation box. There were no food trucks or any other food for sale at this event. I brought 2 Bobo's Oat Bars from home, one for me and one for Heather J. The Oat Bars are gluten-free for me and vegan for her. If you are considering attending one of the events here, you may want to consider bringing a small snack or two. The garbage cans for trash (from snack wrappers, or from anything else) are located between the park area and the street. My uber driver on the way home was super friendly, and he was so interested in maybe taking his nephews to one of the events at this park that I shared the event flyer with him and he took a photo of it on his phone. So, I made sure to take a photo of the event flyer to post here, too, just in case anyone else is interested. I am also posting a photo of Heather J and I that she took on her phone and kindly shared with me, with the band stage and a small section of this park in the background. Such a nice park. It's fun to explore previously undiscovered outdoor spaces in my local area.

If you are looking for a hike, it's not here, but a beautiful and interesting walk, this is a great place. The far side of the creek ignited our curiosity with its stone built ruins, beautiful trees and the aforementioned Rhododendrons. I wish that I'd brought my camera! Sorry!

I enjoy this park for a quick hike with my dog, especially in the evenings. Trails are well maintained with a few muddy spots no matter what time of year. There are restrooms at the bottom where the main beachfront is. This recent time I went, there were quite a few trail runners. I can see how this a great spot for that.

I have come to Shoreview Park throughout my life for a variety of active purposes, be it as part of…read moremy soccer team, track and field practice, taking the dog for a walk/run on-leash, getting in running shape, and taking/doing biodiversity plots as part of my Environmental Science class at Shoreline Community College. There are a number of play fields, two set-up for baseball/softball and one we used for soccer games. The grassy unfenced baseball field serves as a good place for running drills and soccer warm-up. Prior to the addition of the playground by the soccer field there used to be a grassy area where we could stretch and do some warm-up exercises. There is a trail/path around the outside of the soccer field that I have paced and is approximately 0.2 miles (without cutting corners) so five laps makes a mile. I find this field to be a perfect place to get back into running shape. It is tucked away from the road, so it does not feel like one is running on display for the roadway. Trails to the North/Northeast take you to Boeing Creek Park, and trails to the East/Northeast take you to the Shoreline Community College Off-Leash Dog Park (also called the Shoreview Off-Leash Dog Park). Trails to the North/Northwest/West of the athletic fields take you past Hidden Lake. I came here recently, this past Saturday the 30th of May 2020, and today, the 1st of June 2020. On Saturday it was raining and I brought the dog, Schatzi the Münsterländer, along with me to walk a little ways on the trails, do some exploring, and run a few laps together. Schazti was soaking wet by the end and when I went to grab a towel from the trunk of the car she was so excited to get someplace dry she jumped right in. I got her to go to the back seat, and had the towels to wipe her down. None of the fields get particularly muddy, so it was mostly plant and grass that stuck to her fur and some dirt that I had to worry about when she got in the car. Today I came to run a few laps on my own and explore the park a little more as it has been a while since I had last done that. I arrived around 9:40 a.m. and left around 10:10 a.m. By the time I was leaving the parking lots were starting to fill up. Busy place on a clear day and a healthy reminder that summer is coming! A fun park with a variety of offerings that change with the seasons so there is always something to do or explore no matter the time of year.

Shoreview is probably the same size as Magnuson, but shadier, so it provides much needed relief on sunnier and/or hotter days. Since it's so big, there's always parking available in multiple places throughout. If you want flat trails, there's those. If you want elevation, there's trails that go up higher, too.

The park is well kept, with a big picnic area that worked perfectly for our gathering. If you bring kayaks, tubes, paddleboards, or similar, this is a super mellow and picturesque place to launch. We were there later on a Saturday afternoon with our church family, we enjoyed the music, the BBQ, volleyball, and it stayed peaceful and relaxing even with plenty of people around. The wide-open spaces, the lake water and gentle breeze off the water made it especially enjoyable. A great Kirkland park for relaxed family time by the water.
