The smell of home cooked meals permeates the kitchen and they are well balanced with the residents tastes in mind. As my father's health declined, Misha and her staff worked with our family and hospice to ensure he received the best of care. Misha is on call and readily available to residents, staff and her caregivers. She is the definition of a professional, caring nurse. When my daughter and her three small children came from out of town to visit , they were welcomed by the staff and made to feel at home also. Paris, one of the caregivers, made them all dinner one evening when we weren't comfortable leaving my father. Meatloaf, potatoes, peas and cake. Our mother was in this facility for a little over 2 months and we could not leave soon enough. She…read moreneeded some extra care and the facility stated they could handle but as soon as mom got in the door and they had our money they suggested 'Hospice Care', this way they could have her there and do as little as possible, which is exactly what happened. A few of the girls were caring and knowledgeable (about 3), but others did not know and/or were not properly trained to handle a peg tube, and other, creating some accidents and unneeded stress among other issues! Outsiders even told us that there were better places and to get out as soon as possible. Management made promises and of course they want to get you in the door but buyer beware, once you are in you better be there just about every day to check in or who knows how your loved one will be handled or treated. They keep surveillance cameras for their benefit but won't allow you to have any - wonder why? Oh, they are nice enough and rapidly made changes and kept our monies instead of acting in a more professional manner after saying might give back if another party moved in. Well the other party was in within the day and no monies were refunded. All in all they are one big smiley face that's not so kind with not so well trained staff for the ones really needing the care. There are many other wonderful places that truly care. We know and have found one now with a night and day difference. So if you are considering this place do not be misled by the presentation - Beware!

The Com For Care located on Oyster Bay St in Sugarland does not keep their promises and will let…read moreyour loved one die while suffering. The caregiver is the only positive thing about this company and the kitchen was clean, other than that: HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. As a hospice RN, I can honestly say that they broke many guidelines and DEFINITELY did not provide appropriate end of life of care for my father. No pain medication for a dying person who could barely speak with a broken hip is not only a hospice guideline violation but it's inhumane. The hospice provider is GENCARE Hospice. RUN!!!! I was assured of updates, as well as promised that I would be given enough time to come be with my father so he would not die alone. I was notified 1 hr and 40 mins after he passed. He was receiving a "bed bath" when he passed. Any decent and compassionate hospice provider would have respected my requests that he not be moved unless absolutely necessary - because he screamed at the top of his lungs in pain. When I requested that he be given pain medications, at the very least, before they repositioned him, the hospice nurse justified not doing this by saying, "You know that no matter what we give him, he's still going to scream. A broken hip hurts". WHAT? I was blown away. I've never heard a more ridiculous answer in my 32 years as a nurse. Oh really? Then why wasn't he getting medicated regularly? She finally agreed to medicate him before moving him-which I have zero faith that she did. In hospice, a good nurse can tell when a patient is "active" which means the patient has hours -maybe days to live. No one there could tell that. I showed a video and photos of my father to MD friends and the owners of the hospice I work for and they were appalled. He was breathing 32/min... a clear sign of distress and screamed when I touched his head. All of my coworkers said he was "active" at that time. Not the Com for Care owner and certainly not his horrible hospice RN could see that. Every human being deserves to die pain free and with dignity. Do not trust this home with your family member and DEFINITELY DO NOT USE GENCARE hospice- unless you want your family member to suffer.

We did a lot of research and spoke with a number of places. We were also in the midst of some extremely difficult health issues with other family. We have been so pleased with the care our parents receive at Com For Care. The staff is positive and thorough and stable. The stability in a business of high turnover is highly unusual and a reflection of the long history of Com for Care and Ann's leadership. There really is not a comparable place that we have seen or even heard of. Our lives were changed once we moved our loved ones to Com for Care.

I can only speak of the private group home for 18+ with Day Habilitation, transportation services, supervision, medication management and meals. My son has high functioning autism. He was housed for 23 days, after paying for a month. Since day one and every few days there were issues. To list the ones we experienced: Extremely small rooms with 2-3 twin XL beds, DayHab van driver speeds- expressed road rage all while talking and arguing on the phone (Overheard), Dayhab supervision is flawed, smoking inside rooms (observed during visit), staff asleep on the clock (observed), staff gives medication off schedule (observed), staff tries to take gift that was sent for my son (text message to prove it), Dayhab does not individualize meals gave my son crackers, cheese and carrots, it was communicated prior that he doesn't eat cheese or carrots. That snack is the only meal there- after I complained -they said he can bring a lunch. The programming consists of playing hang man and coloring. I requested and was told my son would get career advice and assistance applying for jobs and lifeskill assistance. All this was reported, and all was apologized for along with accountability (in emails)As a whole the organization let us down. They charge up to $1,000 per person at 10-12 people per home. That $12,000 a month is all that seems to matter. You're not getting your money's worth. Once we chose to cancel services and declined their offers to try another home they had- and requested a refund ( they say it's against policy) for the false advertising and misleading business practices and clear violations of known Texas Penal Codes. I had high hopes for this place in the beginning. The tenants are superstars. The Coordinator, Heryville was extremely professional and responsive. I just wish this wasn't so common in home care facilities we trust with our loved ones.
