I was going out of town and needed to find a kennel to board my dog for several days. I called Gracious Kennels and spoke to the owner twice. On the day I was to bring her I called and spoke to a gentleman and told him I would be dropping her off around 4:30. When I arrived shortly before 5:00 and pulled up I was taken aback in how unkept the grounds looked. I got out of my car and saw the office looked dark. I walked into the carport and the house also looked dark. I called the number and no one answered. I left a message that I was there. I hate to say it but I was glad no one was there because of the condition of the place. I left quickly and went to my sisters who lived nearby. No one from gracious kennels called me back. Fortunately my sister knew of another dog boarding place and they had a kennel open for my dog. Like I said the people at Gracious Kennel seemed so nice that I hate to write this negative review. read more

Do not do it. Do not purchase one of their dogs, do not board at their "ranch", do not have them groomed at their "spa", do not do anything but run the other way. They are responsive until they have your money and then no form of communication is answered. We paid a deposit for our puppy and then heard nothing for two months until I rapid called them repeatedly for two days while another littermate parent did the same thing since they had not heard from them either. When we showed up to get our pup I was taken back by how unkempt everything was from property to office to house, not just dogs living there but a different level. They placed our unvaccinated puppy on the ground and watched while he marched over to a pile of adult poo and began sniffing while I ran to scoop him up. Some of the litter went home with health issues and I was made aware from another parent, not the breeder. Our pup has had some serious health issues (we researched for a few years before choosing a line and breeder and all their breeding dogs were "healthy") so I called them to discuss. I do not want any money back, I love our pup and would never send him back or ask for another pup, I am just wanting information on how to handle some of these issues and our vet is adamant that we discuss this with our breeders so they understand the possible issues with future litters. I have called, left voicemails, texted, emailed, left messages on social media and zero reply. Please learn from our mistakes and choose a quality breeder (even after 2+ years of research we are still in this position). Do not use them, I continue to hear horror stories of their breeding and boarding and the dogs deserve better. read more

I brought my two small dogs in for grooming. It seemed nice and clean... the people came off warm. To start with the the prices were good and they said it would take three hrs. They were the only dogs I could see there for grooming. Next it went down hill, they took two hrs longer. With one dog needing a bath with trimming his feet and mouth. He was wet all over. My other dog was sooo much worse. I asked for a little less than a inch. He was pink to his skin, shaved raw and moist. It was 40 degrees outside.... Two wet dog. I was shocked 5.5 hrs. The girl that was at the desk seemed nervous when we came to pick them up. I asked for the groomer or owner. She said they left. Run away from this place and don't let them fool you! PS: My vet checked my dog at there normal visit and I come to find out that they never did any basic grooming. Took hair out of ears, clipped nails, etc! read more

Was on a time pinch for my dog while on our Honeymoon and could not believe I spaced. Weird. But I called and could drop my dog/kid off on a Friday night and we were gone for Two long weeks. When we picked him up he seemed energenic from all the playing time with the other dogs. I also got my leash back, which is a big thing considering you never do with Kenneling places. I would use them again when I forget to plan for my dog when we go out of town. read more

We took our darling but shy 17 month old St. Bernard to Gracious Kennels Ranch and Spa. It was her first time away from home, and we were both a little nervous. We both had no need to worry! She was warmly greeted by both Sue and her husband, and treated to loving head rubs and ear massages. Then she romped in a big green field, and got to meet a new friend! They brought their own dog out to play with her, and they were swapping kisses and goofing around. When I returned to pick her up, she was happy, relaxed, and acted like she was part of their family! It was AMAZING! She has always been shy and scared, and we have worried about leaving her for this trip for months -- all for nothing. She now has a home away from home, and I know I can relax because she is happy and enjoying her vacation, too! read more

Today I booked an appointment for my cocker spaniel and english springer spaniel for a full groom. I could not get in to my regular groomer due to the busy holiday week. I was impressed by the website and conversation we had when I made the appointment. When we arrived I got a gut feeling that maybe I shouldn't leave them . The office in front of their house was filthy and was not fully equipt for grooming. I asked if this was the area she groomed and would if they would be kenneled and she replied she groomed them there and in the house and her husband would help her. When i drove off I had a feeling but then thought maybe I was being too protective. I mean this is a' Ranch & Spa' and (i never think people are shady i'm , very trusting). I called hours later to ask what time i should pick up she said they were great and she needed another hour and 15 min. When I returned my dogs were wet and had loose hair all over them. The cut was HORRIBLE! The cut was uneven and each had huge patches of hair uncut and huge patches of pink skin showing from the cut too close. They are so gapped & matted up. My springer spaniel jumped up and down and blood started flying everywhere. She acted like oh god you noticed because she didn't mention it. i then i said oh god what happened she walked in circles didn't know what to do then she said she needed SUPER GLUE she asked if i had super glue at home or she could" go run and look in the house and look for some" my dogs hair is horrible they were terrified. she asked me to help put him on the table and started shaving him all uneven all over, , crazy like..... the bleeding wouldn't stop & my springers white hair was yellow and wet...HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE. I asked why I was not contacted in regards to the cut I wrote her a check and went straight to pilchuck animal hospital in snohomish They were amazing and said she gauged his nail. she was all so cold and odd..... THIS PLACE IS CLEARLY A MESS. Looked like her first time grooming a dog! be ware !! read more

I brought our golden retriever to Gracious Kennels and Sue and Steve took the time to get her relaxed and we saw her run in a big green field and he was exhausted when we picked him up. We have taken him there and as soon as he gets near the kennel he is so excited to come back He obviously has been treated like family as he always comes home happy and healthy. They are reasonable and clean. I would recommend them to everyone. read more

Terrible experience here. I made an appt. for a grooming and when I arrived at the facility no one was around. Dogs were barking back in the kennel area and one of the owners dogs was wandering around the driveway and proceeded to mount my dog so I had to put her back in the car and called the phone number to find out where everyone was. The owner came out from out back and explained she could have the dog ready for pick up at 2:00. She didnt ask for my name & number or anything but I gave it to her anyways in case there were problems and told her I would be back at 2. When she agressively crammed her in the plastic kennel with no bedding or anything in it with no love or compassion I explained I wanted this to be a good experience and she said not a problem. When I arrived at 2 I walked in the office to find our dog back in the kennel soaking wet and no one around again. I called the phone number 3 times with no answer and also knocked on the house door and found no one. I searched the office and found the collar and took the dog home. I left a check on the desk and a note and I never recieved a call or anything even though I took the dog home. When we got home I realized that behind her ear she was bleeding and there was a HUGE cut where they had cut it when grooming her. She was terrified and threw up twice in the house from being so upset. I will NEVER use this place again and Ranch and Spa is a joke for a title. It was dirty, unorganized and absolutely not loving at all. read more

left our dogs there for nine days. when we dropped them off the kennel smelled like urine. we also had to supply food for our pets and beds. when we returned to pick them up they were howling. the owners did not want help to get our dogs like they had something to hide. the dogs could not wait get out. we got half the bag of food back and the beds which were covered in urine. they tried to blame the urine on the beds on our dogs but on further investigation they had been laying in urine and so had our dogs. will never go back again and will tell everyone we know. read more

I recently met with Sue in regards to a puppy I was looking to purchase. When we arrived on site we had a bad feeling. The place was a mess! When we went into the office to meet the pup there was barely anywhere to stand it was so cluttered and disorganized. It was filthy as well. The pup was darling, but Sue was unable to provide information I asked in regards to the dog and her parents. She didn't offer any information forthright, and I had to probe and ask a bunch of questions. I also asked her how many Golden Retrievers she currently had and she was unable to tell me how many dogs she had! She thought 8, but wasn't sure. Wow! That blew my mind that a dog breeder didn't even know how many of her own dogs she had. My husband and I left and told her we would be in touch. We later offered her $300 less for the puppy and she replied with, "You won't find a Bernese for that." At that point it felt like money was more important than a wonderful family home for the dog. I have been using Gracious Kennels now for about three years and always been happy with the care and attention that my dog gets there. The owners and kennel help all are friendly, nice and they truly love the dogs that stay there. My dog has medication requirements that must be met on schedule four times a day including a dose right before bedtime, I have always been able to count on them going the extra mile to do this for me which I have not been able to do at other kennels. During the colder months they always keep the smaller dogs indoors where its warm and toasty. I travel regularly for work and sometimes I have to drop my dog off at odd hours (like 5am) and they always accomodate. Same goes when I need to pick her up later than normal. My dog always has a warm greeting for everyone there at Gracious kennels so I know she is well kept. If you are looking for a no-nonsense but caring place to leave your family pet while away, I recommend Gracious Kennels. read more
