I moved to Washington about 2 years ago and have been bringing my dog here since. I really loved the environment and how much my dog seemed to enjoy it. It also felt like at first the employees really tried to take care of him. Now, the employees belittle and don't listen to their customers about any medication or feeding for your dog. Not only that, they all around rude. Not to mention, their dogs they have in the lobby bit my dog immediately once I came to check him in. Terrible service, they obviously don't train their dogs, and I've seen so many dogs come in that seem aggressive. All these people are after is money, which is sad. read more

Our boxer has been going to Bone-a-Fide for 3-4 years now, 2-3 times per week. She comes home tired and happy every time she goes. We use their van pick up service, and their driver is this amazing women who does such a great job getting all the dogs where they need to go. As a bonus, every December we get a package of photos that are really high quality that show us what our dog has been doing with her favorite doggy friends all week. We've also used Bone-a-Fide for boarding when we go out of town. Our two dogs have always received great care, and we've been able to sign them up for a bath before we get them back so they aren't filthy from playing all week. Our little dog had a medical emergency once while there, and the staff were completely on top of it. They got him cared for, they were texting with me the whole time, and everything worked out great. The staff are super friendly. They are very on top of monitoring our dogs' vaccination status and health reports. They've always been great about anything they need from me or any requests I've had. read more

Bone-Fide's staff are wonderful to work with. They are professional, helpful and courteous. When I left a message asking about availability, I got a call right back. When I called later to add a day onto our dog's staff, they were accommodating. We were long time customers of a boarding and doggie day care that had closed in early 2020, and thought we'd never find a home-away-from-home for our family dogs. The staff here are very knowledgeable and truly care about what's best for your dog. I love that they really take the time to get to know each dog and really do their best so that your dog has the a great, positive experience. I appreciate that they do a screening visit to see if your dog is a good fit, and also take the time to give everyone a tour of the property and answer your questions. My dogs have only gone to daycare a couple times here, but they absolutely love it. They come home very happy, very tired pups. Just be prepared that since they are outside a lot they will come home nice and dirty (well at least mine do, but I dont mind- there's not a puddle my dog doesnt have to lay in). And I think they do do a bath service if you request it. Looking forward to using their boarding services next time I'm out of town. We've been using this daycare and boarding facility for the last year since we moved to Kirkland, I am finally leaving a review. I have had so many odd situations with my dog and these people are always there to work with me and help me out. My dog loves to go there and she gets picked up and she plays all day and comes back exhausted. But truly what makes this place special is the people, they all really care about these animals and can even tell me who my dog plays with. So for anyone with a high-energy working dog I highly recommend them as a daycare facility and boarding location, because the dogs actually get to be dogs there. PS we went to another daycare at first and the place was indoor and they only got to be outside on a small patio and the indoor facility smelled so bad that I couldn't even walk in there without gagging, and that's when I found bona fide! read more

Normally we have had a good experience here until now. Our dog had stayed there dozens of times - usually 2-3 times a year. Then the pandemic and we didn't board him for almost 2 years. We dropped him off and not 2 hours later we get a call saying he's really stressed and we need to find alternate boarding. At this point we were out of state. They ended up dumping him with an former employee whose rates are 3x higher. What makes it worse were the excuses given. That weekend they were starting visits for new dogs for boarding, and they said they don't have the time to look after our dog. They are more concerned about cramming as many dogs as possible to make the most money rather than the care of the animals themselves. read more

We love Bone-a-Fide. We were referred to them by an in-home dog trainer who took her own dogs there. They have been very accommodating to us, and our two year old and 80lb Lab comes home tired and happy. When we return, he literally drags us through the gates, whines to go in, and doesn't even look back as we leave. We've used both daycare and boarding, and have always had a great experience. Bryan and Christiana (sp?) are super friendly and always know exactly what Dozer has been up to that day. One of my favorite parts is that you can pay for your mutt to have a bath before he comes home after a week of playing in the mud. I highly recommend this place. My rambunctious ten-month old rescue has a ton of energy and a spunky personality. Bone-a-Fide took the time to get to know her during her meet and greet, and her first day of daycare went phenomenally. She came back exhausted and was still tuckered out the day after. She has had some leash reactivity, so she got to ride up front on her van ride home. I've been super impressed with their care for each dog and cannot explain the relief it was to have such conscientious folks looking after her for the day. I adopted my dog from the shelter about five months ago, and she's very attached to me. I took her to meet the Bone-a-Fide folks a few days before I left her there for a four-day weekend. She jumped over the fence when an employee put her in the smaller yard for small/shy dogs, and ran around to find me. His comment at the time: "At least we know she can jump the fence! We'll keep an eye on her." Despite assurances that everything would be fine -- I was nervous, since it was my first time away since I adopted her, and she doesn't like me being away -- everything was NOT fine. The darling pup reportedly jumped the ranch's 6-foot fence daily, and ran to the front gate looking for me. Did anyone call me to discuss? No, of course not. They just locked her inside for the rest of the day, each day. She also came home with no tags, an unexplained scrape on her leg and more leftover food than I would have expected. And the kicker -- they won't take her again! As if. I was assured that everyone would be watching out for her, but I don't feel at all confident that that was the case. read more

I have a giant breed high energy dog. I explained verbally and in writing that my dog needs to be matched with play partners that match his size and energy level. He has a tendency to piss off older, male, dogs who don't appreciate his persistent invites for play. He cannot just simply be thrown in a pen with another 20 random dogs. I was explicit and asked several times if the Ranch was able to accommodate his special needs. They assured me they could and would. So, two days into my vacation I get a call. Guess... My dog is too much to handle. He was "causing trouble" with some of the other 20 dogs he got thrown into a pen with. Several older male dogs were being really aggressive and attacking him because of his rambunctious play style. He came home dirty, hungry and scared and I ended paying hundreds of dollars for a day and half of negligence. What a waste of my time and money. This is an overpriced off leash park. Don't believe their promises. 20 dogs in a pen with 2 handlers is dangerous for any dog. read more

Bentley is a large energetic Labrador and this place has the room for him to run and explore in the company of well socialized dogs! I would love to write a positive review, because the seem like great people. However after taking my dog there at least a dozen times, I won't be using them again. Dropped her off this morning and walked her in. A girl who worked there opened a gate and put her in with a bunch of other dogs and an immediate dog fight broke out. I couldn't see over the gate but was sticking around to make sure all was okay. Then another employee came around and the other girl came out of the fenced area again and immediately another dog fight broke out an she went back in. I just think when you are managing that many dogs there should be an introduction period especially when you are dealing with large, high strung dogs. This is such a great place to leave your dog when you can't travel with her! Dogs get a full day of supervised play and there is a smaller area for nervous dogs. BYO food and meds (no extra charge to administer). At night dogs are indoors for sleeping. We brought a different dog here a few years back and she loved it. Our current dog we tried elsewhere and while we weren't unhappy I think she's much happier at Bone-a-fide! We used to take our dog there. But the place is about 40 minutes drive from our house, and we found a boarding place 3 minutes drive from our house, so we don't take our dog there anymore. I think my dog liked the place even though she came home with scrapes and scratches everytime (about 4, 5 times) she went there. People there are nice but it seemed that the place is over crowded. Last time when we picked up our dog, they didn't have our dog at this place. They transfered our dog to Lake Stevens without telling us. I was little upset about that because I haven't even seen the place. But this place has a huge outdoor space and everytime our dog comes home, she was so tired and slept for a few days. Tired dogs = good dogs! I wish if my new dog boarding place has a big outdoor space but I know it's difficult to have that in city. I picked up my dog from this place today - after a 4 day stay. When he came out I immediately noticed 2 big (nickel sized) scrapes on his nose - which was also swollen. They were slightly scabbed but still bleedy a little. I was pretty freaked out and asked what had happened. They had no idea. Additionally - he's almost lost his voice - making me wonder why he'd be barking so much that he'd lost his voice?!! I was pretty freaked out and angry. I took him to the vet immediately. But I called Bone-a-Fide on the way - the guy I talked to said he didn't think I should take my dog to the emergency vet. Which I thought was super weird. I think he was just trying to assure me that it wasn't a big deal - but the wounds looked infected to me so I felt like I really had to. ANYWAY - The vet said it looked like it was something that had occurred over the corse of several days - like he'd been in a kennel or something - or maybe scrapped in on a fence. As far as I know Bone-a-Fide doesn't keep dogs in kennels. So I still have no idea what happened. While at the vet another person from Bone-a-Fide called me and she was concerned and nice about it all. Which was a bit more reassuring. She said they were all trying to figure out what happened and that there were no fights or anything...so it's still a mystery. In the end, he's ok - but scraped up quite a bit. :( (Though he's also licking his paw quite a bit so I'm taking him to his real vet on Friday) I wouldn't recommend taking my dog here - though I don't think they're terrible - I think they might just be very inattentive. read more

Dropping Gravy off at Bone-a-Fide was the crazy dog people equivalent of dropping a human child off at summer camp. We were weepy and wondering how she'd ever make it a week without us; she basically sprinted away from us the second we were inside the gates. Leaves? Dogs? New buddies? Smells? Trees? Stumps? Mud? YAY! The prospect of Gravy getting to be a nature dog all week was fantastic from our perspective - running off leash, getting dirty, playing with other buddies, etc. That being said, we were also pretty nervous about leaving her with a bunch of other dogs for a week - she doesn't know how to give herself a time out, and can often play too hard, get overwhelmed, then get sassy pretty quickly. We came back to reports that she did great. The Bone-a-Fide team noticed that she might need some personal time on the 6th day, which they gave her. We were thankful to have the staff and their keen eyes watching so that Gravy could have her rest time, and the rest of the pack could play without worry or disruption. Bonus points for the bath service - I can't even imagine how gross she got after a week in the woods, but she was pooped and spotless when we picked her up. Then she slept for 2 weeks straight. Awesome experience, we're excited for our next big trip and know that our "child" will be in capable hands and free to run. read more

Dog owners can understand/justify spending about $35 a day per dog for this place. Non-dog owner groan your hearts out in disgust. But consider this for a moment: We care for our pets and love them dearly for the majority of the year but when we take a vacation it is darn nice not to worry about them. The concept is great, you go on vacation- your dogs go on vacation. Hiring a dog sitter is great and kenneling is fine in a pinch but in dog land this place is like a DisneyWorld Dog park. There is a dog attendant hanging out with your dogs all day. They have a indoor dog area in case the weather is bad and doggie sleeping rooms that reminded me of summer camp bunk beds. The dogs run and play with other dogs all day long in open areas. They even have "snack time"!!! There is a hole digging area, a kiddie wading pool, logs for them to hop on, and a tennis ball room with a slide (ha! I made that one up! But that would pretty awesome.) If you are unsure just take a tour of this place with your dogs. Which you will have to do before you go anyway because they test your dog's temperament (no super aggressive antisocial dogs). Just remember this is dog land fun- NOT human fun. The place is a little muddy and low fi but do you think your dog cares? Believe me these people love dogs and know dogs so they have thought of most everything. They can accommodate small dogs, medicines, special diets, odd behavior, and if you don't want to take home a muddy dog they offer a doggie spa pacakge. Our dogs nearly licked us to death when we went to pick them up because they were so happy. Two more hints: 1) Holidays times are more expensive and book up quick so make a reservation a few months in advance!! 2) There are two locations. We have sent our dogs to both. The Snohomish/ Clear Water location is more popular with more acreage but also more dogs. The Lake Stevens location is farther and less known so it usually doesn't book up as fast. It also has less acreage with a lower doggie capacity so it is not an overwhelming pack of dogs. Just in case you want your dog to get more personal attention and/or they freak out in large herds. read more

A seemingly phenomenal facility for dogs that enjoy being outdoors, we were drawn to Bone-a-Fide's claim that they have a special area for quieter dogs. However, when we took our dog for his "temperament test", we were shocked that we were never consulted about his background, personality or behavior before he was immediately taken from us and literally thrown into a holding area with approximately 10 to 12 very hyper dogs that were already familiar with each other. After being accosted by this group, he jumped the fence in the holding area to get away. After being "reintroduced" to the group while on leash, we were told he was too nervous to be considered. I am very confused by Bone-a-Fide's idea of a "temperament test". While he prefers to keep to himself and sniff plants, trees, and bushes, our dog is fine around others when slowly introduced. I must say, if I were in his position, I would have jumped the fence, too! This seemed more like a "Survival of the Fittest test" than a "temperament test". Very disappointing introduction...a good reminder that not everything is as it seems on the surface. read more

This is the BEST boarding facility we have ever used for our dog Lucy. She is a skittish rescue and the people working here handled her with care and understanding. We took her to another boarding facility in the area before here and they turned her away because of how anxious she was (panting, pacing, yawning) Bone-a-fide understands dogs and understood Lucy enough to work with her until she got comfortable. They remembered what employees she liked the most and sent me reminders on when her vaccinations were coming up on renewal! I mean..that's pretty amazing considering all of the dogs they have attending there. All of this aside, the grounds that the dogs have available to them is incredible. There are multiple acres of real grass, dirt, and trees for them to run around in. We moved out of state last month but we miss them and now have a very high standard as we look for a boarding facility on the East Coast. Thank you guys! read more

This place is great. I have a overly energetic lab mix who was not designed for apartment living, so doggy day care (complete with pickup/dropoff service) is a godsend. Its great for boarding, too. Its a little bit more expensive than regular boarding. I can have him boarded at the vet for almost half the price. However, its not the same. When he comes home from a weekend of standard boarding, he is downtrodden, whiney, and miserable. When he comes back from a weekend (or even a day of daycare) at Bone a Fide, he is exhausted, quiet, and very happy. My only real gripe with this place is that it gets full, quickly. I've had times where they've bent the rules when I needed to drop him off last minute for boarding, but I've had other times where I called well in advance and they were already full. If you need boarding, make sure to make your reservation early, especially if its over a holiday. I see people commenting that their dogs come back with scratches....well, of course they do. Have you seen the way dogs play with each other? They're bound to get a couple of scratches here and there if they're outside playing all day...as long as it doesn't get out of hand, its not a big deal. Kids get scraped knees when they play too, doesn't mean they shouldn't go to the playground. Highly recommend Bone-a-Fide to anyone that needs daycare or boarding for their dog. read more

Bone-a-Fide is an awesome dog ranch! The BF and I are both very busy during the work week, so our pups can sometimes be cooped up in the kennel all day. Now, every Wednesday, Indiana Jones gets picked up at our house by one of Bone-a-Fide's handlers, and then she is taken to the ranch. After several hours of exploring the acres and acres of open land on the ranch and playing with friends, they load her back up in the van and bring her home. We come home from a long day to find a tuckered out, happy pup in her kennel. Last week, I came home to a note from the handler that read, "Indiana Jones is doing so well! She got to ride shot gun on the way home today! She is SO sweet!" It put a huge smile on my face. There are several handlers who will pick up dogs throughout the Seattle area, and I hear they even do pick ups at Marymoor Park. This is extremely convenient for us. It is actually more convenient (not to mention, very reasonable, price-wise) for us to have Indiana Jones picked up and taken to Bone-a-Fide than it is for us to take her to a local doggy daycare. And, please do not let the 1-2 star reviews deter you from leaving your dog at Bone-a-Fide - dogs will get into things in such a large ranch. Don't freak out because your dog gets a scratch on their nose - it can happen at the dog park or anywhere for that matter. I haven't taken my dog to Snohomish in three years, but my memories are fond. We switched to the Lake Stevens Ranch (aka "Ryan's Ranch") originally because Snohomish was full. Now we make the trek to see Ryan because Tica LOVES him. She's been going there for almost four years, and spent 3 weeks there last summer. It's spendy, but totally worth it to know my dog is happy, well-exercised, and cared about. My 8yo cattledog mix is, like many of her breed, a bit of a diva. She is without a doubt 100% b*tch (can you spell that out on Yelp?). Not in any way dog aggressive, she is bossy and can appear aggressive to people (barking, jumping, growling). I love her, but don't expect most people to think she's as cool as I do. Ryan totally gets her. It's not an act--he really does like her. If I get hit by a bus, Tica can go live at the Ranch. And Tica likes him--she runs out to greet me when I pick her up, then immediately runs under his desk to hang out with him while we talk. Ryan is focused on the dogs having a safe time being dogs. He's not going to go out of his way to pamper paranoid/needy/codependent humans. If you're a new owner convinced that your dog can only survive with you--get over it. Let your dog be a dog. That might mean getting dirty, or getting scraped up, or making noise. I've been a needy/codependent dog owner, and had to realize that it wasn't helping my dog get over her behaviour issues and/or live a happy life. Since I decided to have my own life and share it with the dog, we've both been better off. Part of that is taking vacations, and leaving her at the Ranch. read more

My hyper pooch lost 2 pounds during his week here (he weighs 21lbs!)! He ran his little fuzzy bottom off! Make sure you send extra food 'cuz your pooch is gonna work off a lot of calories! There are like 4 acres of doggy mess to play in. The dogs all get beds above the floor and are matched with like dogs in doggy "bedrooms" at bedtime. The staff loves dogs and even put my dog in with the elderly dog pen when he got worn out from the big dogs in the main yard. On the negative side, it seemed a little pricey for the level of care versus a vet (same price) and the dog bath at the end was the price of a serious groomer. Worth it to us because our hyper dog loves it so much here. Enough fun for our dog that we drive from Shoreline to Snohomish to take our dog here when we leave town. He sleeps for about 3 days after a week here! read more

I've taken my dog to Bone-A-Fide several times for boarding and have had only positive experiences there. The staff is very friendly and seems like they care for the dogs. I love that their facility is so big and has a huge covered area for when the weather is bad. And it's a bonus that they're always super responsive on email. The price is reasonable compared to other boarding places in Seattle, so for me, it's worth the trek out to Snohomish. My dog comes back tired (albeit very dirty) and I've never had a problem. Axel just got back from a nice long Memorial Day weekend at Bone-a-Fide. He is exhausted and happy! We can tell he had a great time with the pack. This time, the staff was sure he didn't hunger-strike, and gave him his medications as directed. They were also accommodating when nasty Memorial Day traffic messed up our pick up plans. Our border collie/lab mix, Bruce, has 'vacationed' here a few times when we have gone out of town and he absolutely loves this place! He gets so excited when we're on the way there. It's so great to be able to go out of town and know that he's not cramped in a cage for days on end. He gets so much exercize when he's there which is a really nice change for him since we live in apartment. The people we've dealt with there are always really nice and some of them have their own dogs there as well. We've been sending our dog to daycare once a week for a few months now, and we send him for boarding when we are out of town. The whole service is great - they pick him up and drop him off from our house, so we come home from work and our pooch is tired as can be. After 4 days of boarding recently, he came back so tired he could barely move (don't expect your dog to be happy to see you! he'll be too tired.) They seem attentive and proactive. We've had 2 times now where Bone-A-Fide called us while our dog was at daycare to let us know about scrapes or bumps on him. They were all pre-existing and not caused by playing at Bone-A-Fide, but it was nice to know that they were paying attention. Our dog is young, playful and energetic and loves to meet everyone at the dog park. I'm guessing this isn't the place for every dog. I give it 4 stars only because sometimes it would be nice to get more regular check ins or information on what our dog's been up to. I know they always call when there is an issue, but more updates for peace of mind would be nice. I guess that is something you give up when you board at a bigger place. Also, since they pick up and drop off our dog when we aren't home, the only way we know that he actually went that day is because a. he's tired and b. his collar is dirty. Sometimes it would be nice to have some extra reassurance that he did indeed get picked up, like a note or something. read more

I have two small dogs and I have left them in the care of Bone A Fide for several extended stays lasting anywhere from 1-4 weeks. It's hard being away from my dogs for that long but I know they are in excellent care while I am away! They take the time to brush them and update me if they notice any small concern. When I have left my dogs in the care of other boarders, they come home with noticeable changes in behavior (i.e. excessive barking or nervousness) but after a stay at Bone A Fide, they return just as themselves.
