The testing room was the perfect temperature- not too hot and not too cold. They did provide ear plugs and noise reducing headphones to use if desired. They also provided a dry erase board and marker.

There were hiccups on the road but the result turns out terrific. P has been early admitted by his dreamed school. We started to work with B2A in late June due to P's summer camp schedule, and the counselor initially working with us found another opportunity and would leave B2A in 3 weeks. Thankfully, after we informed Emily of the situation, she quickly assigned André to work with P. We couldn't be more grateful for this transition. André has helped P develop essay topics most relevant and resonant to his personal experience and kept encouraging him to be himself. P is strong academically but not much a leader type kid. His essay is touching but by far inspirational. P had disagreement with the head counselor after final-review, and after some back and forth email exchange and amendment, decided to submit without the head counselor's final endorsement by the end of October. Now we look back, it would be helpful if we had started to work with B2A weeks earlier in June. Hope our experience with B2A could benefit other incoming seniors.

Original review from Feb 2010: My kid took the SAT prep course, and it made a substantial difference in her score. I'd bought several test prep books that helped a little, but there is something about the in-person experience that really makes the info sink in, so this is absolutely worth the time and effort. It's expensive, so look online for promotional codes which can save some money. It does involve homework, so be sure to budget time appropriately. The only caveat is their system for the essay - though she's a particularly skilled writer, she followed the PR instructions to the letter for this test section (instead of doing her usual thing) - and it actually cost her points. If we did it again, I'd tell her to ignore them on the essay bits but pay close attention for the rest. Overall, we enthusiastically recommend Princeton Review.

Ms. Amaiya has been outstanding with our daughter while she was in Toddler B. Our daughter loves her so much so that now that she has moved on from her class, she will still sometimes refuse to enter the new class unless Ms. Amaiya is there. She has been so great that she'll often at times help take her in the morning until her current teacher is available to get her. We are extremely grateful for her! Currently, our daughter is in Ms. Stephanie's class and she loves and trusts her as well. Ms. Stephanie has been incredible and is always available to give us updates on our daughter's potty training. She encourages her all the time to do things on her own and she's been so crucial for us in helping us potty train our daughter. The front desk of TLE has been amazing as well! Ms. Jessica and her team have done an amazing job and really have given a lot of consistency to the facility that we felt was lacking for a while. Seeing Ms. Jessica's and Ms. Phoenix's faces in the morning always lights up our daughter's face. We are moving away soon and won't be able to send our daughter here. We will truly miss the staff and all they have done for our daughter. They have made such a big impact on our daughter's and our lives and we hope we've made a lasting impression as well.

I'll start out by saying that I am not one to take the time to write a review on any business, but because this one has exceeded my expectations so much I feel the need to share this. My daughter is 6 years old and has just finished up 1st grade in June, but the administration and teachers at her school feel she needs to repeat 1st grade again for the 2014/15 school year. I could go on and on about why, but i'll save that for a forum for AISD public schools. She and I worked so hard on homework and reading every night at the beginning of the sschool year, but by the time March/April rolled around it became evident that holding her back was a serious consideration. We immmediately looked up a tutoring school. I found Grade Power Learning on Google, considered some completitors but I was impressed with their knowledge, quick correspondence, and frankly thieir pricing. As some of ou know if you are looking into this is not cheap. My husband and I are artists, self-employed, and needless to say do not make a lot of money. But we knew that this was something that we HAD to do for our dau. Let me begin by saying that Gordon, the Director/Owner immediately said that we would work out whatever was needed financially to make this work, and the important thing was to get my daugher in ASAP for an assessment. I was impresssed by this, and even happier when we sat do go over the results. Gordon has obviously been doing this for many years, knows his "stuff", and has a passion for his work that i believe is lacking in this day and age. I will not waste any more time going over the back story, so that I can get to greatest part, the results. First thing we had to conquer was her confidence because she was coming home from from sh=chool saying she was Dumb, Stupid, etc. Needless to say this broke my heart coming fron my beautiful, smart, and talented 6 year old. In April when she started her DRA level (not sure if you are familiar with this-- I was not). It is a way of measuring reading levels and kids "should" be and expected to be at a certain level for each grede. She was at a reading level of DRA 2-3 (which is Kindergarten level. After 4 months of tutoring, taking some direction from Grade Pwer she is now reading, comfortably, at a DRA level of 12. This is HUGE if anyone is familiar with this type of progress. She is now working on 14-16 with an 86% correction rate. Most importantly though her confidence, and interest in reading is through the roof She picks up book werever we go and reads to me at night instead of the otherway aroung. We will assess at the end of the summer with principal of school, Gordon, my husdand I to get an idea of whether it's best to move forward to 2nd, or keep her on the track of 1st grade, mostly not to confuse her, and also to retail the material .that was lost because of frustraton on my daugter part. There has been other progress that i won't go into at the time, i feel exhausted just wrting this much. I felt it important to share my happiness with this program, the teachers year, the Owner and Director especially. they have made time to meet with my daughters teacher, and will do thisb again in August, prior to school starting. Our daughter attended Grade Power for over two years & loved it! She looked forward to her time with her instructor & loved the encouraging, positive environment there. Originally, she received help in language arts (English/Reading/writing skills) in 1st grade; however, after being diagnosed with dysgraphia & ADHD, it quickly became apparent she also needed help in processing & manipulating math. Through thorough testing, Gordon was able to pin-point what was "missing" in her processing & help her learn strategies to "reconcile" what was not connecting (putting tools in her tool-belt) Gordon & the staff there did an amazing job of laying a strong foundation early on for our daughter. She still applies the tools she learned in English & math as well as her other subjects. She has become more confident in each success & is currently in Pre-AP English (8th grade) & earning an A in regular math. Our daughter started attended Grade Power (formerly Oxford) approximately one year ago upon hearing from her school that she was severely struggling in her reading and they were considering retaining or placing her in 1st grade. Immediately we wanted to find a solution and came upon Grade Power Learning. What a blessing it has been! She attends every week and has come so far. We are sticking with Grade Power as long as our daughter needs the extra help in reading and math for many reasons. The most important reason is the amazing progress we see in our daughter. We had a new teacher who was enthusiastic when the students were perfect, and utterly overwhelmed and clueless when the students had challenges. My son has ADHD, and despite telling me they has experience with 2E kids, the teacher thought my son had severe emotional problems when my son would self sooth by going in a corner to be alone for a bit. They also did not communicate in any way the depth of the problems my son was having in school. I finally realized the extent of his issues when I began attending daily to see for myself. They were often rude and childish in response to issues or complaints. They had a history of keeping teachers even after multiple complaints of abusive behavior. Their insistence on parent interaction was amazing, and the singalongs were fabu. From top to bottom, it's an excellent program with marvelous staff and leadership, and a wonderful community. Some of things we love most about Parkside: it's uniquely and authentically Montessori, which was important to us when we were looking at schools. The teachers (called guides) are loving, creative, and thorough in their teaching methods. We were blown away when barely a month in, our daughter came home singing about all the continents of the world! The 12-acre campus is beautiful and well maintained. The kids get lots of outdoor time and often take hikes together as a class. They learn to value and sing about nature, including our new favorite song, "Chlorophyll" written by the founders. Music is a big part of Parkside life, and at least 1-2 events a week are organized around it (parents are invited to participate as well). We've enjoyed all the opportunities for families to get involved at Parkside and we've made some great friends already. Even through the craziness of the pandemic, Parkside staff led the way with through health protocols and regular communication with Austin Public Health to keep the kids safe and allow school to continue. In short, we've found Parkside to be an amazing, friendly, beautiful place that is nurturing our daughter to her full potential. We highly recommend it!

I was getting my state inspection done today and across the street was Eden Park. I saw 2 young…read moregirls trying to load or unload something in the recycle dumpster. After struggling for a few minutes one girl jumps on the dumpster and opens the hatch then she falls in. I see her rooting around for a few minutes then watch her as she struggles to get out. I see a cop and tell him about it and he said there is nothing he can do. So I stand there debating if I should run over and just get her out. I debated this because my luck people would think Im trying to do something to these kids. Then the girl finally gets out. By this time me and another customer have watched this thing unfold and one of the guys in the shop goes "we see kids doing that all the time"... Why were kids even out there unsupervised, Why were they emptying garbage? Anything could have happened from just any weirdo walking/driving by could have just snatched one or both, up to the fact that the truck could have come to empty the dumpster. So I pay up at the shop and go to the school to tell someone and they didnt seem surprised but more like "not again" type of reaction. I was kind of taken back, but they said they would handle it. I have typically heard good things about this school but after seeing this I would never ever ever ever consider this school for my children nor recommend it for others

We are so impressed by the updates we get (the app this school uses updates in real time instead of getting a report at the end of the day like our last place); it has made all the difference in our night routines knowing that she had a tough time taking a nap at 2 instead of figuring it out at home at 630. We also have enjoyed the extras that are at Sunshine Cottage -- huge playgrounds with age appropriate equipment, bikes/trikes to work on motor skills, dress up bins and play areas in the classroom, and (our latest exciting update) a dance class from an outside studio that is sooo affordable!

I am a father of two children who both have attended St. John Neumann (SJN) pre-school. I've had…read morean overwhelmingly positive experience with Kelly Montgomery and all of the teachers at SJN. If you are fortunate enough to find a spot for your children, I wouldn't hesitate even for even a minute. We've tried several different pre-schools in multiple cities and SJN is our hands-down favorite (and our top pick for any children joining our family in the future). I receive multiple updates per week via email from my child's Pre-K teacher, Ms. Chrysta. She includes specific aims and goals in her emails and lesson plans, and she produces great results, too! Of note, my child's social and writing skills have improved, and she takes direction far better than before attending SJN. Most importantly, my child feels loved by her teachers, and she loves them back. At this critical Pre-K age, both a trust and a bond with teachers and the administrator set the tone for everything else. Most days, my child feels moved to enter the office of "Chi Chi" (Kelly) and give her a goodbye hug. I also see this trust and love between my child and teachers not directly involved with my child's education. The small size of the school allows for this. All of the teachers and staff say "hi" and "bye" to my child by name, and ask my child questions about the day or the weekend. This makes SJN as much a community as it is a school. The classroom sizes are kept small so that each child has a chance for individual attention and instruction. SJN has early drop-off and late stay options, too. The other parents I've met tend to be highly involved in their children's lives. There are both fathers and mothers dropping off and picking up kids. I've made friends with many of the families, and hope to continue meeting even more! There is one extremely negative review of SJN pre-school here on Yelp from August 2017. I would ask other Yelp users to do their homework: inspect this reviewer's other reviews and draw their own conclusions about the fairness, accuracy, and focus of this 1-star SJN review.
