Out of all the places I've ever been in my life for any type of medical treatment. I would have to say that Grady Memorial Hospital is by far the worst. The staff had no sense of urgency, bedside manner or overall compassion for their patients. Everyone was texting, socializing or social media surfing on their phones as you walk by. No one was doing any real work. One of the ladies in the x-ray room fell asleep at her station. In addition the hospital is filthy. It really should be shut down. I waited almost 12 hours was pricked four different times for bloodwork ended up leaving at 5 AM and still don't know what is wrong with me. I will never ever ever ever ever ever ever go back to Grady for anything. Atlanta should be ashamed to offer this level of service to their citizens. You might as well be in a shelter. read more

It is of critical importance to note that Grady administrators submitted fraudulent documents to both state and federal agencies, falsely asserting that the sexual assault victim was mentally impaired. The administrators were aware of the inaccuracy of this information and demonstrated a blatant disregard for both the victim's safety and the law. Furthermore, Grady administrators engaged in a concerted effort to silence the victim. I ( heart patient) was sexually assaulted by Grady Memorial Hospital's male nurse (the sexual predator was not assigned to my room) while I slept in bed. Grady's administrators and legal team immediately attempted to cover up the assault. Grady administrators knew the sexual predator had committed this horrendous act against other hospital patients in the past. Grady's administrators removed the surveillance camera (located near my room door) shortly after the assault and refused to produce the video footage. I do not seek to embarrass Grady Memorial Hospital, The City of Atlanta, any agency, or any individual. However, I must raise awareness of the cruel and harsh treatment of sexual assault victims while in the care of healthcare facilities. Grady's doctors and nurses assigned to my care were outstanding. I had surgery yesterday. It was a big surgery - hot huge (obviously I can write today). BEfore surgery - they anaesthesia nurses were fine, they inderstood and asked relevant questions. As soon as I woke up, they were a different team of nurses (of course) and they were bullies. I was super dizzy and sick feeling. WIthin 10 minutes of me waking up, a nurse hovers, shouting "C'mon you need to get dressed cos you goin' home". I stated I was very dizzy. I was mumbling. "No Ma'am you're outpatient now, you gotta leave". I mumbled, and vomited, and got scared. She brought a blue puke bag without wiping up, the blue bag is for BEFORE you puke. She then brought my clothes and literally DUMPED them on me lying on the bed, and said: "We gotta clean up, so get dressed and you can go". I was really scared at this point and told her I couldn't even walk and was super dizzy. "Well get dressed and you can get in a wheelchair, you can't stay". I said I was bullied and felt like I was being pressurized. "No we ain't pressurizing you, but you can't stay". All the while she was rummaging for new sheets, putting my clothes on a chair and pulling OUT my bed. I was now on the gurney sticking out into the hallway, covered in puke, half my clothes dumped in me, half on the chair. I couldn't walk, stand, or speak clearly. I was dizzy and nauseated. JUST before the surgery I was able to stay overnight. Jeez. ANother nurse pulled me up and off the bed and dumped me into a wheelchair. I want to sue all these bitches. THey forced me ( yes I was in a comprmised, dizzy, drugged state and they forced me body) to put clothes on, and put me in a wheelchair then wheeled me down to the lobby. I could not walk properly, was dizzy etc. I still feel dizzy. I want to SUE this rotten, horrible hospital and it's rude, disgusting staff in that recovery ward. All of them were B words. This is an honest review of my 19 day stay at Grady. All of the doctors, nurses and other staff treated me with respect. They answered any questions I had and provided excellent care. My review of 3 stars is based on the process after discharge. When I left the hospital, they scheduled me for several appointments and told me I had to get a CT scan (stat) by a certain date (within 2 weeks) and to call scheduling to do it. I called the next day and was told they couldn't schedule me until 2.5 months later, despite it being al over my chart I needed it sooner. I spoke to the nurse on call 3 times and was repeatedly told I would get a return call. Never did. I waited until my next appointment and explained it all again. I was told they contacted radiology and I'd get a call back. Never did. After bringing it up at multiple appointments over 4 weeks, I gave up. Next, my doc at one visit sent my prescriptions to my pharmacy. I called the pharmacy for status as it was taking a while and was informed the doctor's dispensing instructions made no sense and they called the clinic and were waiting on a return call. I sent a message to my doctor on MyChart as well. I was out of my medication entirely. Again, I called Grady for days to get this rectified, and could never be transferred to the clinic, has to speak to the advice nurse who said she would contact them and they'd call me. Never did. Doc never answered my messages despite sending them daily. Finally, I called the advice nurse after a week of BS and refused to hand up until this was rectified. It finally worked. Took a week, probably 7-8 Calls and mulriple unanswered messages. This is unacceptable read more

I hated how the workers were talking behind my back and being very insensitive to me as a black gay man. They were literally debating for almost 30 minutes as to why they should or should not great me yet greeted everyone else on my floor. I don't hate the hospital I just hate the staff for this level of professionalism. read more

My daughter recently had to visit the Emergency room at Grady Memorial Hospital. She had to go alone without family because of COVID-19 unfortunately. The ER staff worked quickly with her to get her through triage and back to the exam area. It was pretty quickly determined that she would be admitted. The admitting physician Dr Abhisake Kole explained as much as he could at the time in a manner that was understood. His knowledge and explaining was appreciated. After some hours hanging out in Emergency, my daughter was transported to a room. Grady's hospital rooms are definitely roomier and more up to date. We have e experience with Wellstar on Cleveland formerly known as South Fulton Hospital. How do I know about the rooms? Because I face timed with my daughter and had her show me the room. I'm nosey. I would like to give a special thanks to Dr Manasi Tanuu. She was told early on that I wanted to be involved and included on what was going on with my daughter while in the hospital. She took the time out of her super busy schedule, and called me every single day that my daughter was there. We spoke in depth at least 15-20 minutes about what they planned for her care while inpatient and out patient. She was very clear and easy to talk to without feeling intimidated. She answered my questions without using big terms or doctor language. I felt relieved that she was in good hands and genuinely felt she cared. I will forever be grateful. Thank you also to the nursing staff and the Rheumatology doctor that cleared up some information from the other hospital. I have included some pics of the meals offered at Grady as a patient. Me and my teenage kids aren't allowed in the building... they said they'd call me when I can see my husband. We sit down on a ramp outside in 30 degree weather... they say you can't sit down... so lackluster and pathetic... I would have preferred they'd brought my husband ANYWHERE but here. I'm LIVID!!!! Every employee in this building is helpful and ready to assist. What is sad is the conditions of the building. Some of the beds that are being pushed down the halls are in disrepair and the building overall needs to be upgraded. I had a friend who was hospitalized and received the best care while here. I would love to see the facilities get some much needed repairs though. Parking is not horrible. It's only $2/hour on the street and the deck that is directly next to the building is also affordable. It may take a few minutes to find the room you are looking for, but the employees are more than willing to help you find your way. It is because of the doctors, nurses, and all other staff here that my friend is with us today. We are forever thankful. read more

Where do I begin ... if I am dying I do not want to be in that hospital. I came too the emergency room early this morning at about 4:30 AM I was expressing the worse chest pains and having pains in my chest and ribs cage (turns out it was a massive panic attack) . The hospital smelled like straight up homeless people/ sweat / butt. That hospital looked like they were giving the homeless people a room to sleep at night , every patient in there was homeless or drug addicts . Nurses were super rude & didn't care about the well being of the patients . Patients were about fight each other because they are so high and being rude to other patients. I was sitting in the waiting area with other patients and everyone was passed out & the nurse were not trying to help for nothing. Please do not come here. read more

Thanks to God and the acute care of Grady Hospital on all levels, my mother is doing exponentially better and was even home for Christmas to appreciate the love and prayer of her family, which is still ongoing. ATTEMPTED MURDER BY DR. ALAINA RENATE STECK I came into Grady approximately 5/6 years ago in brutal agonizing pain that I had never experienced in my life until then. The pain was so excruciating, that the drive there was practically unbearable. I had no idea what was wrong with me. By the time I was forced to go to an ER, I had already combated two infections with fever and had vomited from pain. After finally reaching Grady, a nurse checked me in. They saw I was in pain and offered me morphine, of which I asked what the side effects were and if it was safe to breast feed my newborn daughter while having it in my system. I was informed that it was safe and that the morphine may make me nauseous. The morphine indeed did make me nauseous and DID NOT ELIMINATE OR HELP WITH THE UNBEARABLE PAIN I WAS IN. A CT scan was performed on me as well as a transvaginal ultrasound. My social security number was asked for. I didn't know it by heart, so it was not provided at the time. I was informed that the results should show within an hour. I WAITED ON MY KNEES ON THAT NASTY ASS FLOOR CRYING IN PAIN AND CONTINUALLY ASKING FOR THE RESULTS FOR OVER 3 HOURS! My husband worriedly sat next to me in the ER with our newborn daughter because we had no one else to watch her on such short notice. Mind you, there may have been one other individual in the back room of the ER with me. There is NO EXCUSE! The next thing I recall was Alaina Steck coming to speak with me about the results. The words she spoke to me were, " I don't know why you're in pain. You have a kidney stone, but it's not moving. Did you know there is blood in your urine?" I informed her there is definitely something wrong with me, I can barely walk and have the constant urge to urinate but with little success. Alaina offered me dilaudid for the pain. I rejected the offer for the safety of my daughter. Alaina then stabilized me with an anti-inflamatory (which goes to show she knew my kidney was inflamed and didn't tell me), writes me a prescription for more anti-inflammatory medication (basically a stronger ibuprofen) and sent me on my way to die. WHAT ALAINA INTENTIONALLY FAILED TO RELAY TO ME CONCERNING MY CONDITION THAT DAY WAS: 1. THE KIDNEY STONE WAS A STAGHORN CALCULUS 2. THE STAGHORN CALCULUS WAS BLOCKING MY URETER. (No wonder why it wasn't moving) 3. AS A RESULT OF THE PREVIOUS TWO STATEMENTS, MY KIDNEY WAS SWOLLEN MORE THAN TWICE THE SIZE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WITH INFECTED URINE. 4. IF I DID NOT RECEIVE HELP BEFORE THE END OF THE YEAR, I WOULD HAVE BEEN DEAD OR IN ICU. Number 4 are the words, verbatim, from a medical professional who assisted me in the ER at Northside Hospital. So it's not an opinion, it's a FACT! After receiving proper information and documentation from Northside Hospital, I reluctantly returned to Grady where I was admitted immediately. I waited a day (WITHOUT ANY PAIN MEDICATION) for my first operation. Alaina Renate Steck intentionally sent me home to die with my newborn baby. I suffered for 7 more months based off of what she told my husband and I in the ER!!! She cannot be trusted with people's lives and should not be in the medical profession. I will make this story as public as possible. Alaina Renate Steck attempted to murder me and could possibly be a murderer already. There is no telling who else she has done this to. I grabbed a copy of my medical records when this first happened before reporting anything just in case Grady tried to adulterate them. Also, why did Grady have someone who specializes in medical toxicology speak to me for a kidney stone?!!!! This goes beyond medical negligence. This is attempted murder!!! I am currently in search of an expert medical witness to review my medical records and testify against this disgrace in court for a warrant application hearing. 11/16/21---Sooo it's a whole other ball game now that they think COVID is slacking. I arrived @ 3;55pm with a blood pressure of 200/112. It is now 9:01 and I'm still waiting. So they took an ekg/blood work and a chest X-ray, so maybe I'm not about to have a heart attack and or stroke but my head is beating to a drummers beat. And the pain between my shoulder blades is epic.. I went to work at 3 am and wanted to get my DOT extended, but my pressure was high and that DR. recommended with a seriousness to go directly to the ER.. so here I am an I have not eaten a thing all day, the smells the coughing, the people everywhere.. if I wasn't afraid for my life I would leave and I still may if I'm not seen by 10pm. I witnessed the change in care with the change in shift @ 7 pm 187/100 @ 9:15 and I was told there are still 5 people ahead of me..... and what is 7 feet apart... nonexistent. My last review was **********'s 10 *s I just asked when will I be seen (10:34) and this man said "you've been here seven hours and the next person has been here Eleven hours! This review is mainly for the Grady Memorial Hospital cafeteria. I met up with a friend, who works at Grady, for lunch and have also had "takeout" from here. There's nothing remarkable about the cafeteria. It's actually pretty boring. It's situated atop the Emergency Department and ambulance bay and overlooks the side of the hospital facing north. The cafeteria sort of reminds me of the old student center food court at Georgia Tech. There are various counters/stalls where you can order food. For a hospital as big as Grady (900+ beds), I thought the cafeteria would be bigger, but there were only I guesstimate a half-dozen or so options. They do have a Chick-fil-A. I've had a couple soups from the soup and salad bar in the center of the food court. The last soup I had was a ground beef and bean chili soup ($2.99 for 16 oz. with a $0.60 employee discount). It was underwhelming. There wasn't much meat. I've also had the meatloaf and veggies (cabbage) and they were average (not bad). One thing that is good about the cafeteria is they give you decent portions at a good value. All food is served in disposable foam containers. The dining area isn't great. It's not the cleanest either. Neither is the restroom I used or the parking deck. The stairwell and elevator in the parking deck were grimey and had funky smells. I got a nice handful of grease/oils after turning the door knob to get out of the stairwell in the parking deck. Awesome. The parking deck is located right next to the hospital and is accessible from Jesse Hill Jr Dr SE. The spaces are tight. Parking rates are as follows: 0 to 10 minutes - free 10 to 20 minutes - $1 20 to 40 minutes - $3 40 minutes to 1 hour - $4 1 to 3 hours - $5 3 to 24 hours - $6 Grady was very busy during my Thursday afternoon visit. It was busy inside and outside; out on the street, in the parking deck, outside the entrance, and inside the hospital virtually everywhere I looked. Grady is a teaching hospital (Emory, Morehouse) with lots of students/residents and is one of only two hospitals in metro Atlanta with a Level I trauma center. Allow me to preface my review by noting that if you value your time, care about being treated with respect, or are at all interested in actually being seen by a doctor, DON'T GO HERE. That said, here we go: My wife had an appointment at Grady Hospital in downtown Atlanta today at 3 PM with Dr. Kenneth J. Carney (urologist/surgeon). We live in the CSRA area of Georgia and so had to drive two and a half hours one way. As such, we knew it was going to be a long day. Oh how naive I was. After getting to the hospital around 2:15 PM, we were informed that I wouldn't be allowed to accompany my wife up to her appointment. Odd policy, but oh well, I think, until my wife later lets me know that several other people showed up to the same office with their significant others. First strike. Next, despite her checking in around 2:30 PM, my wife wasn't asked back into the actual patient area until 4 PM. This of course due to the fact that there was only one doctor in the office that day and he (Dr. Carney) hadn't finished with the surgery he was conducting on another patient until 2 PM. Why he didn't reschedule our appointment or why there weren't other doctors available to see her is incomprehensible. Second strike. Finally, despite being brought back into the actual patient triage and waiting area around 4 PM, by about an hour or so later, she still hadn't been seen. Third strike. Now, I don't know about anyone else, but not being seen by a doctor after two and a half hours after your scheduled appointment time after already having to drive two and a half hours to get there strikes me as just a tad unprofessional. After waiting for that long and it nearly being the end of the day for normal hospital hours, she left. I guarantee we will NEVER be back. TL;DR: Grady Hospital in downtown Atlanta (and Dr. Carney and his office) are completely unprofessional, display a callous disregard for their patients' time or needs, and need serious retraining in time management and customer relations. I HIGHLY recommend against ever going here for your medical needs. read more

The worst never knew a hospital could operate without hot water, was there with my fiancé and no hot water through out the hospital that is so unsanitary!!! And the Dr. Lee has no compassion for patients at all the worst hospital ever!!! I would never recommend that hospital for a dog let alone a human!!! He don't care if patients live or die!! My fiancé got the best care at Piedmont Atlanta he ended up there because they thought he had a stroke but he didn't.... To those that comment that Grady does Triage their patients so true as all hospitals I'm sure and with the volume they see every day from all over as a Level 1 hospital, homeless, uninsured, default payers--the list goes on, if you are tallying pluses and minuses, if I were dying, burned, have disease (foreign or domestic) GRADY Hospital is on to of my list in my purse as the Desired and Preferred hospital to be taken to! There is no better hospital for true emergencies and burns, diseases the list goes on. The (R O U S) the rest of us broke, uninsured, down on your luck and need help people there are not a lot of choices out there one reason you come/came to GRADY! They will not turn you away in f you truly need help and in default! Some areas and people have no hospitals at all locally and have to drive or fly out of their immediate areas to get basic care that we take for granted. Some don't make it. If you are not convinced yet, get a job and pay for the care you want. It is available at at a high cost! But you can get. I wouldn't go here willingly. No communication across providers. No Hippa protocol. If you ask a nurse a question, the answer is " I will find out". They never return. The hospital is unsafe. We were treated like jail inmates. Keep your own log of incidents as theirs is incorrect. They missed a Tylenol dose and when pain was present wanted to give OxyContin. Neuro staff are too busy to follow up and provide poor care. The cafe is gross. Food is disgusting. . Cmon Atlanta. Your roadways are a deathtrap and thus trauma center is poor. read more

Recently I visited the Grady ER due to difficulty breathing and a high heart rate. Simply put I felt like I was suffocating and was going to die, so my wife rushed me. My heart rate stayed at around 150-160 bpm for 5 hours straight until it started to lower in the final hour. I can't say I was conscious the whole time enough to know about my full experience, but by the end, I felt like I was treated pretty fast and to the best ability of the staff there. Ultimately, the downside of the experience was the staff's response to me. You see, the reason I showed up was due to too much alcohol followed by smoking. Sober me knows I can't smoke cause it closes up my airways, drunk me thought nothing of it and that's the story. The staff was irritated at me from what I remember, felt like they thought very lowly of me. They also spoke ill of me while I was going in and out of consciousness due to the nature of my stay. They didn't take me seriously and my insurance wasn't even taken down. They just sent me a bill for $600 for 3 hours on an I.V. and called it a day. The whole experience was fine minus the treatment by the individuals, not to say that is how the staff acts, but that in my case the staff I was with were this way to me. I'd still recommend it, but just keep in mind ER's are generally miserable anyways so word of the wise, always have low expectations for that mess. read more

I fell in the shower and I came to the emergency room because I hurt my knee and couldn't walk. I thought I dislocated it. Upon arrival, I was told that no one can have guests, even though I couldn't walk. So my ride had to leave, and I had to be carted around the hospital by strangers anytime I needed to move. This included when I first got in and was waiting in the check out line. It was so embarrassing because the wheelchair didn't have the capabilities for me to do it myself, and the nurses were too busy to help, and I had my partner but he wasn't allowed there. They did an X-ray only (which isn't good for knee injuries because it's usually not a bone issue), ignored my concerns about my knee cap shifting out of place, gave me ibuprofen and told me that it was a sprain and to just rest it. They didn't refer me to a specialist or anything. I couldn't even walk and they didn't give me crutches and then made me leave the wheelchair once I was in the room. I kept having to request the wheelchair again because, again, I couldn't walk. AND THEY WERE WRONG. Went to get a second opinion to find out my patellar ligament was torn and I needed surgery. And to add insult to injury, it took 2 days for the pharmacy to get my prescription pain killers because they forgot to send it, even though they specifically told me there they'd already digitally sent it to my pharmacy. The whole visit to this emergency room was pointless. I should've just gone to an urgent care and a specialist. We are in the trauma ICU floor as my husband fell down the stairs with a neck injury. I have had to chase down doctors, nurse practitioner, and have requested a hospital administrator to see us in 7B43. I'm amazed at the lack of communication given to patients regarding their treatmen. I hope whoever sees this understand this my 3rd attempt to reach someone to dis my husband's treatment plan. The attitude is nonchalant at best and rude and unprofessional at worst. Why hasn't anyone met with us to discuss a treatment plan and this is the 3rd day. I can't tell you how doctor's name and I have never left his side. I'm concerned that this lack of communication seems to be transferable to other support staff because no one consistently knows what's going on and the doctors make on the trauma team do not go out of their way to explain whats happen in the treatment or care of plan for your loved one. I'm heartbroken that we have been treated like discarded waste and not shown any respect with regard to the care and treatment of my husband. i hope the team that manages reviews get my complaint to the right person as I seek other remedies to garner attention to this matte. read more

I've been seeing a doctor here for 3 years and I was in appreciation with the help and service I was getting...once I began to get seriously ill the level of care seemed to have been ignored...if a doctor is taking care of you one would expect enough care from a doctor to be proactive in were to place a patient before an illness progresses...this was not done. Instead I was left to suffer an illness that should have not gotten as bad as it did...very upsetting...I fired this doctor because I do not trust him..he has known me for a long time and allowed me to suffer!! I give this doctor 0 stars because of the level of care I got from this man in the later months of 3 years...KHALID BASHIR, MD a F***king failure when it came to my care....I truly believe he snickered in laugh with my suffering....if Grady is not careful someone in Grady's team of doctors and students might really F**k things up.... I give the Grady Hospital 3/4 stars for the level of difficulty I do understand is happening....so it be said...I know Grady is trying to be better with the good they have done.... 2021 update...I was born at grady in 1972,but as I am in all things..I will not be bias..Being at grady,it's all about who treats you..Some doctors/nurses are nice,in good spirits people..Others especially some nurses have bad attitudes cause the job doesn't pay enough or they really look down on a lot of patients...Granted I work security so I know how crazy the public in Atlanta can be..But unfortunately grady has had a reputation for bad attitude nurses and some doctors for years...Of course it being a state hospital and the cost of medication is mostly why many like myself go here..So grady has the good and the BADDD!.. The bad don't want to take responsibility for anything!..They'll say it's all on you..no matter if it's a mistake by office staff,the pharmacy or the financial department...All because...YOU!..didn't do this or say this..So be blessed when you get someone good to treat you.. read more

Worst Hospital in the south. I came in with a broken femur. After surgery I had to wait over an hour to get my pain meds. Then a nursed ask me on a scale from 1 to 10 how high is my pain level? I said it's 10 she said no it's not. Why would I lie on my pain with a broken femur. Then physical therapist was rushing me so much that I almost fainted. Another nurse (her name is Summer) was so rude and had a challenging attitude only because I refused to take medication that my doctor and I had NOT discussed. I been here for 4 days haven't eaten because their food is disgusting. My body has been dehydrated since Monday because all of the med. I asked for an IV on Tuesday morning and today is it's Thursday and still no Iv. I spoke to the nurse Director of the floor ( her name Ms. Wheat) she took notes, half ass apologized then went on her mary way) I will be reaching out to Ms.Regina Scott who is the CFO, let's see if she is going to correct the problem or sweep it under the rugs Grady needs to be shut down. read more

Being born and raised in Atlanta, you know I know all about Grady and all the rumors that make people run away. This weekend, I finally dragged myself into an Walk In clinic (WIC) for what I was sure the worst case of gas/heartburn a person could bear, and since it had been going on for 4 days with no relief, I went in. Well I learned the hard way to not walk into the clinic complaining of chest pains for they will surely send you to an emergency room. So after me telling the nurse, that I didn't have the time or insurance required to go the emergency room, she told me that if "i dropped dead, then money, time and insurance would be the least of my worries." That being said, I got back in my car, and headed for Piedmont, well Atlanta, traffic being what it is on a Friday afternoon, I hopped off at the exit for Grady and made my way into the parking deck. Let it be know that they do no accept Visa, MasterCard and debit cards at the Parking Deck that sits next to McDonald. Upon entering the emergency room area, after checking in, I was called by the triage nurse within 5 minutes. He took my vitals, and proceed to tell me that the lady that was at the WIC was correct, because at my age and with the blood pressure I had, the symptoms for having a heart attack. I was immediately rolled into an observation area, put on a stretcher and told to stay there. I don't know where else I could have gone, but I stayed in place until about 20 mins later someone came and got me for my EKG. At this point im thinking, this is the place to come if you are having chest pains cause they are quick. Ten minutes later, Im rolled from the Blue Zone to the Red Zone and within a few minutes someone was taking my blood, hooking me up to an IV and asking me if I am ok. Well now Im wondering myself. 5 minutes later, im moved to a room, which I appreciate a lot more than they other 20 people they have lying on stretchers in the hallway, but for some reason I now have to use the bathroom so bad, and one of the nurses tells me which one to use....uhhh NOT, someone has pissed on the floor, the other bathroom had a filthy floor, but the toilet was useable, so we went with that one. More waiting, as there was also a shift change going on. finally after my X-rays, my doctor (resident) came thru and gave me the look over, explained my EKG results to me and requested that I have another EKG and more xrays, as the previous shows an enlarged heart, and upon listening to my heart more explanations on why I am always out of breath. There was plenty of hustle and bustle going on. I mean these people work hard in this ER. Its no lollygagging like you see on the TV doctor shows, but it was a show....there were a couple of people that were either crazy or on drugs and they were a hoot to listen too during my 12 hour stay. Overall, if you have no health insurance this is the place to go. Yes, the wait is long, but if you drop dead, this is the place to be. The staff was professional, I felt like I was being attended to in relations to what I thought was wrong with me, and what really was wrong with me. You wont get frills and a lot of extras here, but you will be seen and provided with exceptional medical care. read more

My family member is now in Grady emergency room, He do not know whom his Nurse is. The care is so bad, He did not received a meal until after 11am, He has beed on a stretcher for two days. no one has assist with am care or restroom. He states everyone just walk by as if he is not there. we need some help. read more

My sister began having seizures at work and and was brought here to Grady Hospital by ambulance. We arrived about 30mins after she was dropped off, but could not find her right away. The nurses at the nursing station were not very friendly or helpful. My sister MRI showed that she suffered a stroke while that day and so we ended up in the Stroke center. Dr in the ER was not very nice, there was clearly a language barrier and we did not understand what was being said, until my older sister put her in check and explain to her that she needed to slow down so that we could understand what was going on, afterwards she straighten up and became more pleasant ( ...but why did we have to go through all of that??? ). The stroke effected my sisters ability to walk, so days later after she was placed in a rehabilitation center to begin therapy, we had to go back to Grady to get her FLMA paper work processed, but guess what... Her doctor was no longer at Grady. I could not understand why the records of her being there was not enough for someone to sign off on her paperwork so she wouldn't have problems with her job. It actually took weeks to get this done. My sister did not feel like she was being treated well during her visit and didn't like the food being served. So we went out there quite often to check on her. A couple of homeless people were in the waiting area, I don't know if they were there to see a doctor or with someone else that was being seen, but they were sleep, one shopping cart was parked near the drink machine and the other person was asleep on her bags. Everything wasn't bad.... there was an evening time nurse that was very nice to us and the Doctor in the stroke center was nice also, she was very informative. *Parking Deck located near the front entrance *On the street metered parking *Clean ER & Room *Onsite eatery *McDonalds next door Sorry, but I wouldn't recommend Grady! read more
