I recently spent two days at Northside Hospital Cherokee, and the care I received was as good as--if not better than--I could have hoped for. Every member of the staff I encountered treated me with kindness, professionalism, and genuine concern. My room was spacious, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. The Environmental Services staff did an outstanding job keeping everything spotless. On the first morning of my stay, my wife immediately commented on how clean the room looked--something she had never said during any previous hospital stay. The staff thoroughly cleaned and dusted the room, mopped the floor, and even changed the trash bag even though it was barely full. Their attention to detail did not go unnoticed. I also noticed a small device under the sink that I later learned was a Synexis air purification system. It operates so quietly that I never heard it, but I was impressed to learn that it continuously helps improve air and surface quality by generating a safe form of hydrogen peroxide. It was reassuring to see Northside Hospital Cherokee investing in technology that helps protect patients from the spread of germs. The food service exceeded my expectations. There was a wide variety of menu choices, the meals arrived on schedule, the portions were generous, the food was served at the proper temperature, and every meal was exactly what I ordered. Hospital food often gets a bad reputation, but that certainly wasn't my experience here. My discharge process was one of the smoothest I've ever experienced. Nurse Brenda made sure my wife and I had everything packed so nothing was left behind. She asked my wife to bring the car around to the entrance, and within just a couple of minutes I was on my way home. The entire process was efficient, organized, and stress-free. The highlight of my stay, however, was the nursing staff. Their compassion, professionalism, and positive attitudes made all the difference. Brenda and Elizabeth cared for me during the day, while Nancy and another night-shift nurse--whose name I unfortunately cannot remember--provided excellent care overnight. Every one of them treated me with respect and kindness, and they always seemed to have a smile on their face. They should be highly commended for their dedication to their patients. I gave birth to my first baby here and we well taken care of. During our stay, they found a couple of issues with my baby and they said he will not leave the hospital yet. Because I am his mother, they let me nest in the hospital with him so I could breastfeed him. It was a hard five days in the hospital, but the staff did everything they could to take care of both of us. This is a huge hospital out in the mountains of North Georgia. I had heard good things about it, so I felt comfortable checking in for my outpatient surgery. Staff was friendly at the check in counter, and I did not have to wait too long to get signed in. I had already spent 50 minutes on the phone for the preoperative interview. The preparation for my surgery didn't take too long either. The nursing staff was very friendly and professional. The Anestesia Doctor did his job, but he was not extremely personable. To him, I was just a number. However, my Doctor Karen Buhariwalla was amazing. She explained what would happen in the upcoming procedure, and made small talk to make me feel confident, and relaxed. After the surgery the dismissal process was easy. Noone wants to have anything to do with a hospital, but if I ever have to, I would chose this one. read more

I was treated for cancer for four years at this hospital. And a couple of weeks ago, I received a phone call telling me that they are refusing to treat me anymore. This is after they kept a spot on my lung a secret for over a year without telling me. These people have no soul or heart. Atlanta Cancer Care is a joke. And so is Northside Cancer Institute. I just lost my father to lung cancer, and they kept the spot on my lung a secret for me which could be lethal. And I honestly hope that when the time comes that any of them need desperate help I hope that they get the same treatment that they gave me. This is our second time in the ER. It's like a third world country in here. How can we live in such an amazing place and not have decent emergency care ? We are at over three hours for an X-ray with no end in sight. No one in the lobby can tell you anything and are annoyed if you attempt to get any information for your loved one. I called Piedmont Jasper over a hour ago and they said they could take her right back. Big mistake to try to wait this out. This place is terrible. It would be fantastic to have choices. Recently took my teen daughter here with chest pains and short of breath and they left the ekg stickers all over my daughter when we left. Never hooked up the ekg machine when we got into a room. Placed an IV to take blood and didn't remove it till we left. Why even place an IV just to take blood? Why do you need to put an iv in if you're not going to use it for anything. Put my daughter thru more pain just bc you didn't want to use a needle to draw blood? Left being told it's anxiety as always! They are so quick to just blame everything on mental health and not actually research what is wrong. She still has short breath and a tight chest. I'll be billed at least a thousand dollars for this type of care. Be better and do better for your patients. read more

I gave birth at this location 2 months ago and it's crazy reading all the negative reviews because i had an opposite experience! All the nurses that were assigned to me were so sweet and supportive i could tell they love what they do. They took care of my baby during postpartum and made sure that we were okay. The food was amazing too lol i was surprised about that i always just assumed hospital food was nasty but their breakfast lunch and dinner were soooo yummy! I would give 5 stars but i didnt only because they apparently lost the clothes i arrived at the hospital in. I voiced this concern to one of the nurses and she said it was nowhere to be found. Came into emergency room unable to walk due to dirt bike accident . Front staff was great and got to room quick. Doctor came in and said he was going to give something for pain and get x-rays, 50 minutes later and no pain meds or x-ray. This is unacceptable for possible broken bones which no x-ray yet to even determine if both are broken or not. No one has even come back in to explain why there is a delay. I here since last Monday. My legs were swell up. Look like I had 40 pounds of fluids on them. I do have heart problems. The nurses was nice and tge techs were nice too. But the I T.M. Doctors was rude. On the 8th day of me being in the hospital He said I could get discharged. Get this i needed more test run. I was still shaking and dropping things. And on top of that I couldn't walk. They said I need a wheel chair. My right ankle was weak causing me not to walk. My left ankle was weak but not like my right one. Physical therapist said I needed w wheelchair. I have multiple health problems. I was treated will bad. He is discharging me out of the hospital with out a wheelchair. This was such a horrible experience that has turned into a nightmare! I won't get into a lot of the detail of my ailments, but I went in with severe stomach pain. They did blood work and were immediately concerned with my heart. They started running a bunch of tests and suggested that I needed a heart catheterization based on all of my numbers. I have never had a heart issue! I allowed them to do it, however, the test showed negative for any blockages! So, my stomach had still not been looked at and I just wanted to go home! The cardiologist told me that he didn't have the staff to discharge me. I told him I was going home! For a month now, I have been trying to get my records so that I can follow-up with a cardiologist. Each time I try, it is something! Today, it was that my email address was not in the system. The first time I called, they had my last name and address incorrectly in the system (even though both my driver's license and insurance card both said the correct last name. Did they even know who they were working on? You call the number for medical records and just get the run around. It's a 3rd party company and all they will tell is that they have received your 3 requests!!!!!! I now have a follow-up appt. tomorrow with no records. The lack of customer service with everyone involved has been most unbelievable! I am sure that they were able to receive my payment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! read more

A real bang up job by Northside administration. story time: My wife had a miscarriage in the summer at 12-14 weeks or so (which she passed at home), we spent 6 hours in the ER and they gave her an ultrasound that confirmed there was no more "conception material" is the inhumane way they put it. we go home and the next day my wife starts yelling from the bathroom that she's passing "tissue". not blood, not clots, large tissue. terrified, we hurry into the car to go back to the ER. once in the car, she passes whatever it was. turns out it's a baseball size placenta that they completely missed (which seems unfathomable to me). a few months later i get an outrageous hospital bill and i call Northside. explain this situation and say that I have no problem paying this bill, however I feel that the ultrasound was clearly interpreted wrong since they missed a baseball sized placenta and told us to go home and everything was fine. i wanted to have that portion taken off the bill. in literally any other industry, you dont pay for work that wasn't done or was done egregiously wrong. so i asked them to remove that item. they gave me the runaround for months. finally called my wife and spoke to her in the most condescending way possible that someone from "leadership" would reach out. that never happened so i followed up because i wanted to get this thing paid and not have it be late or whatever. then they send me an inpersonal message saying "I am providing you with an update from our RISK department: the charges will remain as they are. You will receive a letter from RISK containing the details. Your current balance is " risk management determined there was no liability so they just want to charge the crap out of me for an item that THEY DIDNT EVEN DO CORRECTLY. i have had multiple surgeries at this hospital, delivered a child there. paid them literally tens of thousands, always on time, no complaints and this is how we get treated. You wonder why everyone hates the healthcare industry. read more

Kevin the head nurse in the secure area loves to lock people in rooms with himself and belittle threaten and harass you. A non professional started a 1013 on me and I never saw the psyc until I was already booked into a crisis center that we as citizens don't get a right to pick I guess. Then was threaten with security so they could force drugs (adavan via needle) again totally acceptable behavior coming from such a wonderful organization so far I have acrued 40 grand in medical debt cause these fucks can kidnap you and bill you out the ass. They chose to send me to dalton via ambulance (2 hour ride) for what reason? Why am I paying for all this shit. I had my OBGYN change my Perinatal doctor & ironically & luckily they were located at Northside! Absolute fantastic service. I sadly had to be admitted to the hospital early while pregnant and the staff at Northside Women's Center were absolutely OUTSTANDING! I loved every single nurse in labor & delivery! The doctors listened to my requests and concerns and truly honored my wishes! Delivering a baby is already stressful and a hard task in itself but, my delivery was very, VERY pleasant, thanks to the amazing nurses and Doctors! My baby girl ended up coming early and The amazing Dr. Aaron delivered her & she then had to spend a few months in the NICU! The NICU stay is emotionally tough, however the NICU nurses make your stay a beautiful one! They're all extremely pleasant & truly cared for our little one as if she were their own! You can visit and stay as long as you want as a parent. They ensure proper security measures for parents and their little ones & they truly, truly cared for our baby girl. The nurses were very smart and educated us every step of the way during our stay! Whatever questions we had, they were always answered thoroughly! I would recommend Northside & have recommended them to alllll of my friends who are currently pregnant. I dont care how far I have to drive, I will be having my future little ones here as well! I have been a Northside doctor patient for several years. When I no longer had a Family Doctor, I ended up having to use 911 to the'ER as I have no car. I had one great visit because the doc on duty had experienced the same condition. Otherwise, I feel care given there is spotty,lacking in detail which is critical when no one has Family type doctor or internist. Last visit was twice in same week. Travel by 911 Woodstock costs $300 before ins takes up the rest. After xrays, I was given a diagnosis of ventriculitis. No further detail, not even print information. They were aware that besides being 85 yr old; I had no doctor overseeing my care and no car for transportation. Two times that same week, after arrival by ambulance, I was told to go home. I did get help from a nurse and was wheeled to the curb to await the Urber ordered for me. No one bothered to find out if I ever got a ride. Shortly after arrival home, I was bedridden, due to gastric issues. A strange woman appeared. I asked questions about who she was, etc.. She explained she was from Piedmont Hospics & Pallative Care. I was dumb struck & asked how long I had to live? My fear was brushed off. She told me that Northside-Canton referred me saying "there was nothing else they could do for me." I was terrifiedl. HAPPY ENDING-First my only neighbor called Northside & raised heck. I did get a telephoned apology from a nice patient service person. An employee of the Hospice suggested I did not belong there. NOW-I am a patient at Center Well Medical inWoodstock. Dr. Rodney is well trained and all my care is in her hands. At 85 - I finally feel safe. read more

I was in Northside Hospital back in October. I had a fusion done to my neck by Dr. Javed. He is without a doubt the best spine surgeon. I will not let anyone touch my spine but him. I also want to talk about how wonderful Northside Hospital is. The technicians, the nurses, and the staff, everyone was so wonderful. I could not ask for a better stay in the hospital than what I had there. The nurses were so patient with me and so sweet. I know I must've called the front desk every hour because I needed to get up. They came in with a smile, no matter what time of the day or night it was and took care of me. And I just want them to know that I appreciate them. I never go to the hospital and when I do, I wanna be treated with care!! I'm already sad that I'm there, please don't make me feel worse because you hate your jobs!! First, the nurse who took my blood, and put the IV in my arm incorrectly- I was in so much pain almost worse than the pain that I had come into the hospital for. I told several nurses how much pain I was in and that I wanted a new IV put into my arm and no one did anything about it. So when they finally took that out of my arm 7 hours later I had the biggest bruise, massive actually. I have great veins. It should never hurt like that and the other nurse refused to take it out. I've never seen more miserable women nurses walking up and down the hall. The only people that were friendly were the people who did my x-rays and my CT- when the doctor finally arrived after 5-6 hours of waiting she was fine- short and to the point, but she really didn't even know what was wrong with me. So she basically prescribed me some strong antibiotics. Same from the male doctor that came in, he didn't know what was wrong with me either. I was extremely disappointed!! I wouldn't come back to that ER for nothing take me to Kennesaw Hospital. read more

The Labor and Delivery department needs a complete overhaul. It's pretty to look at but the staffing is hit or miss. There were some fantastic night nurses but the overall commitment to quality care is lacking. As long as you have a pretty standard pregnancy and delivery you should probably be fine but anything else, find another hospital. You would be much better off to go to Piedmont in Jasper if you live central to both. The attitude and lack of care is unconscionable and does not constitute a reputable women's center. We loved our doctor or would never have delivered here. Heaven forbid you have a pre delivery emergency because they will send you to the emergency department without ever checking on the baby... even after the 20 week window. If you have any level of pre existing health conditions that make your level of care prior to delivery paramount go somewhere else's. Anywhere else. This is NOT the place for that... read more

September 2021 My son was in Northside Hospital Cherokee for 5 days with double pneumonia, during the height of covid. It's a scary time to be in a hospital with all the covid patients and potiential exposure. Sadly he had to wait several hours for a bed but once he got into his room, it was smooth sailing. The staff were exceptionally kind and catering to his needs. The room was gorgeous, well-appointed and the views from the gigantic window is his room were beautiful! I was super impressed how nice the bathroom was in his room. Teak wood, glass blocks and large tiles. I've seen a lot of hospital bathrooms and none compared to this place. Went to ER with chest pain. Left with chest pain. This was my first time experiencing medical racism. Nurse Jordan was rude and did not accurately communicate, the tests that were ran were minimum care. My medical history was not accounted for before prescribing medicine. I went to this hospital thinking they would have my records which they did not acknowledge until discharge. Dr. Bloom can to tell he does not have an answer as to what is happening to me. I asked for additional tests he said to run more tests would be medical fraud. Wow skip this place if you are looking for quality care go to somewhere closer to town if you are melanated. read more

Upon arriving at the ER due to postpartum complications, I was immediately taken to a room where my high blood pressure was being monitored. Despite receiving treatment for my condition, the doctor decided to admit me to Labor and Delivery for further observation. This is where I encountered a nurse named Megan, whose behavior towards me was unacceptable. Megan was rude, condescending, and showed no regard for my concerns. When I tried to check my blood pressure using the machine in the room, she berated me and told me not to touch it again. Despite my explanations about my fluctuating blood pressure levels (which is what initially brought me in and why I was taken so quickly), she continued to speak to me in a disrespectful manner. Even when the doctor witnessed my blood pressure spike and validated my concerns, Megan's behavior did not improve. Her actions were supported by her charge nurse, Carrie, and even the doctor himself. They made it clear that I was in the wrong for wanting to monitor my own blood pressure. Megan's arrogance and lack of professionalism should not be excused, and I believe that speaking up is necessary to prevent this behavior from continuing unchecked. It is unacceptable for a healthcare professional to mistreat a patient simply for advocating for their own well-being. She should NOT be placed in any position where she is able to make ANY calls over someone's life. I could have had a stroke or seizure being only a few days postpartum and she along with her charge nurse, and the doctor refused to keep my BP monitored, knowing I was bought in and she was verbally told it was fluctuating and the ER had yet to get it under control. This event has traumatized me severely. read more

Have been six months trying to get treatment for breast cancer at Northside Cancer center in Canton. I've been run around, calls not returned. They were going to "put together a team" (3 months ago), kept wanting more MRIs, xrays, mammograms and no definitive results to act upon. On walking into clinic was ignored and stood there for 20 minutes before being acknowledged. Finally went to my heme-oncologist who got me a consult with Piedmont cancer center in two days BUT STILL waiting for Northside to forward all records orf work they did to Piedmont. A bright an shiny facility makes for great marketing but doesn't matter a lick if the staff can't deliver the CARE the brochure touts. read more

I had a mishap that caused me to need a trip to the ER. The staff quickly got me to an examination room. I was visited by a doctor in a very short time, and got a CT Scan to ensure there was no hidden damage. My wound was quickly taken care of, prescriptions ordered, and I was discharged. I am affiliated with a funeral home. We had a patient to die at Northside Cherokee Hospital. The nurse called and released him into our care. We drove 2 hours one way. They advised us the morgue was only opened from 8:00 -3:30 pm. No one advised us of this when they called to release him. After talking to security all the way to assistant admin. Mr Johnson and Admin. Mr. Coffee, the reply was rules are rules. No concern at all for the family who just lost someone, who the family was coming in the next morning to view. How are we supposed to know the rules if no one tells us at the time of the call. I thought that Northside was a top notch hospital but if it's ran this way I would not bring my dog to them much less a family member. Hope the rest of the staff is better than the Administrator or his assistant is. Hope the family brings a suit against everyone involved. read more

I brought an elderly friend here for surgery. Everyone that I interacted with was incredibly friendly, professional and very helpful. As soon as we got out of the car there was a nice man in a golf cart offering to drive us to the front entrance which we did. Then we were greeted warmly by some people working at the front desk and one of them walked us to our final destination. The surgery team was also impressive with keeping me informed with my friend's progress and walked me through the entire process. I definitely would come back here for my own medical needs and would recommend them as well. read more

I'll never go back here. Last night i checked in the emergency room for difficulty breathing. I was literally in tears, I couldn't catch my breath at all. We waited for 5 hours and the ONLY things they did were give me Ibuprofen, a covid test and an X ray. Didn't check my blood pressure, temperature, nothing. When the covid test and x rays came out fine they told me i was just stressed and there's nothing they could do. I think I would know if I were stressed, alright? In addition, it's obvious they pick and choose who and when someone gets treated. There really weren't that many people in the waiting area. We waited for 5 hours! Terrible experience. Don't go here! Also, those bathrooms are DISGUSTING. Mirrors were so dirty and toilet looked gross. read more
