Wow! Was I surprised to walk into this old timey joint and find myself in a fruit fest! I'm talking the foods of course! This fruit fest is one highlighted by the new flavor strawberry lime fiesta. It is very tasty and the workers are quite willing and quick to promote this tasty treat that cannot be beat. The handsome Indian boy behind the counter serving up cones and dishes of ice cream. He made me feel very comfortable going through my ice cream process and offered suggestions and even tasting opportunities. Very kind boy! Shows you that with a little bit of hard work, anyone can make it in this country! He has a bright future ahead of him certainly. The space is very charming and the selection is vast. When I came to the cash register, the boy behind seemed a bit nervous and tripped over his words a bit (I assume he is new around here). He was still very kind even though he was having a hard time, made me feel comfortable in my own skin (I am self conscious about most everything). I love to see local businesses employing kids that have disabilities, as I am a disabled person myself. Graters in fort Mitchell is a great store with great workers, handsome Indian boys and disabled fellas alike. For sure will be back to check on these guys and the whole staff! read more

We were visiting from Illinois and heard that Graeter's was the place to go. This location was closest to our hotel. My daughter has a dairy allergy and an egg allergy. Graeter's had a lemon sorbet and a raspberry sorbet that was safe. The staff was very accommodating. They washed hands, changed gloves, used a clean scooper, and used a fresh bucket of sorbet. We went twice during are short stay. The ice cream was amazing as well. I had the coffee ice cream both days. Others really enjoyed the cookie dough ice cream. read more

Well, we were across the street at the Montgomery Inn (the RIB KING of the area) where I just finished making a huge pig of myself finishing a full slab of barbecue pork baby back rib goodness. When it came time for dessert, my vendor informed me that there was a Graeter's across the street. I've heard from many native Cincinnatians on Yelp about the glorious goodness of Graeter's for about a week now as I started planning on the must Yelp spots during my trip to the Midwest. Was everyone stuffed to the brim? Hell yes. Were we gonna cross the street for ice cream anyways? Oh hell yes! Rather then walk (or roll over) across the street, we pile into the Ford Bronco and cross the road. Waddling in, I could tell it was going to be good. Super wide selection of frozen goodies... ice cream, sorbet, special sundaes, signature soda's (soda water + ice cream + homemade fountain syrups), milk shakes, malts, frappe coolers, lemonade with lemon sorbet, ice cream cookie sandwiches, ice cream cakes, ice cream pies,... you get the picture. Anything and everything to get me into some jeans with an elastic waistband... I opted for a single scoop in a cup. 9 original flavors, 11 signature flavors, and 4 special seasonal flavors available. I tried out the Strawberry Chip. Holy Stretchy Underpants Batman, we got ourselves a whambango of a winner. Super creamy buttery sweetness, soft yet chilly strawberry essence with real strawberry chunklets. And the "Chip" part... good lord... they use chunks of creamy soft dark chocolate fudge... so although it is cold, even the chocolate is soft and creamy like the ice cream. So now, I'm sitting back at the hotel... thinking of packing up for my morning flight home... but feelin' large margish and sipping my sweet tea and yelping instead... What is happening to me? lol... What is not to love about homemade, hand dipped, local ice cream?!?!? Since I'm a Cincinnati native, I've grown up on Grateter's ice cream and absolutely LOVE it. The flavors are so rich and the ingredients fresh and things you can actually pronounce. This particular location has a drive thru which is pretty amazing and we definitely went through it to get our ice cream and then sat in the car and gorged on ice cream. I opted for the butter pecan in a waffle cone and it was so creamy and flavorful and just amazing. If you love real ice cream, then you definitely need to check out Graeter's. And even though they sell it in the grocery story, I think the hand dipped store ice cream is better. read more

This is certainly something that would be super convenient during the hot summer months. I would have to stop myself if that ever happens. Ask for a free sample before picking your flavor. They're super nice and friendly people. I had peanut butter cup on a waffle cone. The inside of the shop is pretty huge and they carry souvenirs such as shirts, mugs and posters. I am really bummed out. I was really excited to visit this establishment because I am from out of town and have heard great things about their ice cream. We went out for my mothers birthday to celebrate as a family. However as soon as we walked in with our kids the staff immediately scowled at us. We wanted to try the different ice creams and no one else was in the store. The team leader: Abigail got super frustrated with us as we were ordering and kept barking at us. I felt very uncomfortable because I could tell she was angry and simply did not want to serve us. I am not sure how she got to be a leader because she was very rude and short with us. I work in customer service myself and I would never talk to my customers the way she treated us. Probably won't be back, I couldn't even enjoy the ice cream after that interaction. read more

I have a nostalgic attachment to this particular Graeter's location, since it was the first one I ever went to as a child after my first dance recital in the first grade. It has that old-fashioned, frothy pink and brown interior with wire-backed chairs and a variety of confections in addition to the phenomenal Graeter's French pot ice cream that really needs no further hyping from me--you already know it's the best damn ice cream in the country, if not the world. Having grown up, moved away, and returned to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area, this Graeter's is now right down the street from me. It's a little more worn around the edges and not quite as fancy on the inside as I recall, but it has a new feature I could never take advantage of as a first grader: A DRIVE THRU. That's right, drive-thru access to my all-time favorite frozen treat, less than five minutes away. And the great thing is, if the drive-thru's backed up, you can run inside, and odds are, there will probably be zero line. It's a blessing and a curse, and a beautiful one either way. read more

There hasn't been any recent reviews about this Graeter's location in a while, so here I go! I used to come here all the time as a costumer before they shut it down in order to remodel it and switch from being an actual franchise to being owned by the actual Graeter's family! When I heard about the date it was re-opening for business (August of 2011) I jumped onto the computer (not literally, but almost) and applied to work here! Luckily for me, I got it (no big deal or anything....) and began training to be a Team Member here for the newly remodeled store. Being a past costumer here and then working here for a year and a half (now working at the Office of Admissions at the University of Louisville) after the owners changed, I must say I saw a dramatic change in the quality of the costumer service provided, although I may be biased. Each worker genuinely cares about the costumers and wants each and every costumer to have the same unique service that Graeter's provides. Besides having great costumer service, Graeter's has outa dis WORLD (maybe even universe) ice cream. Living in Louisville now, I constantly compare other ice creams to Graeter's which always leads me to being disappointed in my experience at other ice cream stores. Even though Black Raspberry Chip is a fan-favorite, I encourage all you yelpers to broaden your horizons when you go into a Graeter's store because there are so many hidden gems within the Menu! Having worked there I got to see and taste all of the options that are possible, along with Seasonal Flavors rotating every month or two (my personal favorite being Watermelon Sorbet and Peach in the summer and Peppermint with some bittersweet chocolate on top in the winter). And on-top of that, there are a lot of celebrities that actually come into the store because it is on the way from Cincy to the Airport and they got to get their Graeter's fixins! And being owned by the Graeter's family now, you may be lucky enough to come in one night and meet the founder of Graeter's daughter! I definitely recommend this specific location to all of my friends because the service is high quality and they have a lot of seating options, including outdoor patio locations and a drive-thru! I LOVE Graeter's ICE-CREAM!! It's soft, but not too soft. It's creamy, but not too creamy. I love the Mocha Chip. The coffee ice-cream is not too strong but is flavorful. And then there are the chips... These are the same chips that you'll find in their regular Chocolate Chip flavor and any of their other ".... Chip" choices. Imagine hefty chunks of sweet, dark chocolate. They are not crunchy because they are soft and buttery. After a few moments in your mouth, the chocolate just melts into happiness. This place is bomb! We were driving through Kentucky on the way home and had to stop to try this. I didn't even know they had a drive thru window. I was pretty surprised at how big the store was and they had other offerings like pastries, mugs, cards, candy, and pints of ice cream to go. I didn't know what to pick because my eyeballs were every which way due to the large selection. I tried a few samples and finally decided on two scoops - one of bourbon pecan chocolate chip and the second of original salted caramel. All I can say is WOW! Party in my mouth! A Cincinnati classic! My winter favorite is the Chocolate Coconut Almond Chip but I love trying new flavors whenever I'm there. The chips aren't any old wimpy chocolate chip you're used to. I tried the black raspberry chip and it was head and shoulders above the butter pecan I also tried (that didn't taste much different than something you'd buy at the grocery store). I'm not a huge chocolate fan and those chips NEED to be in more of their flavors. We came to Graeter's because the locals were raving about the wonderful ice cream and told us we HAD to go. They also went on and on about the Black Raspberry Chip ice cream and that was the one to get. We were in Cincinnati for a conference and decided to visit this location. It was a Thursday afternoon, but very crowded inside. The girl behind the counter was really frowny and seemed put out that she had customers. The guy working with her was more friendly. I got a double dip - one of the famed Black Raspberry Chip and one of the special Banana Nut. I loved the smooth creamy texture of the ice cream and the Banana Nut was my favorite. I really didn't care too much for the Black Raspberry and the chocolate pieces (not really chips, more like chunks) were cloyingly sweet and took away from the flavor of the ice cream. I probably would like the flavor more without the chocolate pieces. It was too much. DH loved the Salted Caramel, but thought the Buckeye peanut butter flavor tasted funny. We enjoyed it somewhat, but I don't see what the hype is about. I guess it's a local thing. read more
