This location and Aver Health overall is the definition of a monopoly because they are the ONLY…read moreservice provider you can use for substance testing through the Johnson County, KS court system despite many service providers offering testing service, and they treat each and every one of their "patients" that way knowing we do not have any alternatives we can use for testing for court obligations. They always treat everyone like a serious criminal, they are always rude and dismissive to everyone, always changing their "policies" without communicating them to the patients aside from placing signs on the window. Who goes to the drug testing facility to check for updates to policies posted on the window on days you do not have to go get a test? Then when you show up unaware of the policy change they treat you as if you should have known and are extremely rude and dismissive of any questions or concerns essentially kicking you out and sending a no show result despite you actually showing up, but not being able to test so it appears to be a failed test to your PO. The absolute worst part is if THEY make a mistake and you get a false positive test you have to PAY THEM AGAIN to "retest" the sample knowing you were clean and if it comes back negative on the retest there is no recourse for the patient, we have to pay for the original false test, and the retest and there is no we apologize we almost screwed up your entire life with a false test result, no hey since our lab messed up this one you get a credit for your next test NOTHING. I am going to do everything I can moving forward to point these things out to the courts and push to have alternatives in place in the future so patients do not have to deal with this monopoly organization. This is America, we are supposed to be a free-market economy that thrives on a competitive environment to avoid companies being able to treat their revenue providing customers this way or they go elsewhere. The fact that the courts force people to have to use this company is a disgrace to our country and the fundamental economic principles of our economy and competition for higher quality customer service. It is no wonder this company is thriving, but treating people this way. Not all folks who have to do substance testing are criminals who deserve to be treated this way. We deserve to have alternatives or options in place for testing at multiple options as I would NEVER go to Aver Health. They post all this marketing hog wash about helping people through their program, in my honest opinion they are the complete opposite and enjoy sending innocent people to jail with all their false tests. I have had two false positives proved with retests so I think the courts should evaluate that as well.

I have always had veins that are hard to find for blood draws. After having multiple failed…read moreattempts at my doctor's office over the years, I found that Quest was able to find my veins quickly and painlessly. However, the last few times I have gone to this location, I was treated horribly because they couldn't find my veins. If you see Ron, then run. The first time I saw him, he was bragging about how he was the best for those who are hard sticks, but he then proceeded to lecture me about my pre existing conditions and try to tell me what medications and supplements I should be taking though I never asked and was only there for labs. Then he proceeded to not be able to find my veins and have to get someone else to do it. A couple of weeks ago, I went to this location again bc he was the only bad experience I had had until then. However, the tech I did see said she couldn't find a good vein and sent me to him. I didn't love that but decided to give him a chance. He then told me that I should have had more water to drink and that I didn't dress warmly enough bc if I had it would be easier to find a vein etc. I had enough and said I would come back another day. The next week, I had a ton of water to drink and even had 32 ounces of water in the 2 hours before I came in. The same tech said she couldn't find anything and sent me to Ron. He said the same things to me. He put a warmer on my hand and lectured me about water and warm clothes and I informed him I had done both (obviously I can't wear gloves or long sleeves while I'm actually getting the blood draw so I'm not sure what he wanted from me). He then stuck my hand without using the tourniquet first and dug around making disapproving noises. Eventually, he removed the needle and said he would try again. I told him no and he went on to repeat his tired advice which I had already followed. How is it that all of the sudden no one here can find a vein? I know I'm a hard stick but I'm hydrated and the veins are in there. I told him that I was tired of being treated like I had done something wrong even when I did everything they said and I can't help that this is how my veins are. Not sure how someone whose job is to draw blood can be so bad at it.

The five stars I gave were well earned. This particular shop carries on a legacy that goes all the…read moreway back to nearly the founding of the city of Merriam itself. When the Macek family started this business some six or seven decades ago, it was a local mechanic shop that fixed cars for the neighborhood. One of my churchgoing friends used to tell me that when she went to her sunrise service weekday mornings, it was good to see her electrician, her plumber, and her mechanic all there with her every day. The mechanic she mentioned, was of course, the owner of this shop at that time. I took my car in to this shop for the first time around the year 2007, and I got exceptional service back then. Everything that the shop did was fixed completely, and specialty items, like welding mufflers that the shop didn't do had good recommendations for competent and economical neighborhood experts. It's no wonder that when you went in to the parking lot to make an appointment or drop off your car, you often had to park a few blocks away & walk in--the parking lot was almost always overflowing. The shop had built an impeccable reputation for great service. I have since moved to the east side of town and for a while lost touch with the Maceks and this shop. So a few months ago when my thirty-five-year-old Chevy was having problems, I took it into my local mechanic, who shook his head and told me he really didn't care to even try to fix it. It was an old car that had too many problems and he really didn't think it was worth his trouble -- or mine, so he recommended that I scrap it and buy a new one. I wasn't ready to give up on my old car because it still got great mileage and aside from the recent problems, it had been fairly reliable. I looked up the website for this shop just because I remembered how good they were all those years ago and found it had changed hands. Somehow I had a feeling that the family that owned the old shop wouldn't just sell it to just anyone, but to someone that would be honest in their service. I was very pleasantly surprised, because this new crew went above and beyond the call of duty when they diagnosed and fixed my car. First of all, they gave me the complete story of my car's problems. It turns out my other mechanic had simplified things a bit for brevity and the problems were little bit trickier than I was led to believe. Secondly, they were able to lay out a repair plan and told me what they planned to replace and what kind of labor needed to be done before they began. Everything was written out before they started, so there was no question about any detail. They meant to fix the car, period. Finally they set about fixing the car. They replaced parts and fluids, they made adjustments, and they tested everything when they were done. The guarantee they give is something you can take to the bank, because, at least in my case, they didn't stop until the car was right. It wasn't just fixed, the new parts engaged correctly, ran evenly and disengaged smoothly. I couldn't be happier, especially since this was a difficult repair. I'm convinced that the current owners of this shop are very worthy heirs of the Macek legacy because they were able to ferret out and fix problems that other mechanics wouldn't touch. I'd have to say -- if you need your car fixed you might want to hurry up and get your car down to them. Word is getting out that these guys are good and their parking lot is filling up!
